I've been paid back 0.0112 BTC of a total 0.1150 BTC loss. As far as I can remember, there's only been one payment, and it would have been more than a year ago.
So they've started paying back, but very very slowly. Looks to me like they made one small payment in hopes it would increase volume and when it didn't they just stopped and left the site up with no support or oversight. The real scam is the fake volume that lures people in and from what I read the high withdrawel cost when those ppeople find out they cannot trade The withdrawal fee for Bitcoin (and Litecoin as well if I'm correct) remains the same as before the hack and equals 100k satoshi. In respect to other coins, they are now giving 1% bonus on deposits (at least for dogecoins). It doesn't matter whether your trades were profitable or not, they are still taking away the same percentage on withdrawals of these coins. I don't quite understand the logic behind this novelty, but I can say with certainty that it didn't help them. It could make sense for arbitrage if there were active trading at this exchange... But since there is no active trading by any meaningful measure, it doesn't really matter

They don't want to pay us because if they wanted they could pay us on small amounts. About the 1% bonus I have written a post last year which is pure stealing money from their users.

I had been trading doges before and right after the hack, and what I saw last time can't be called trading by any means. The order-books are literally frozen, and I don't think that with other coins it is substantially different (I looked at a few other coins as well). Some trading volume may be coming from the BTY-CNY section (if they are allowed to trade fiat at all), but I didn't check that. At any rate, they are nowhere near 300 BTC of daily trading volume

But they have a pretty decent and thought out api (in fact, the only exchange employing asynchronous api among those which I tested myself) which allows to track trades in real time (apart from many other things), so if you are really interested in finding this out, you could write a simple bot which would count the exact value of trading volume at Bter

Since you have made this test, what is the difference from the real trading daily volume?

As I said, I just looked at their order-books of major coins (doges, lites, nxt, maybe a few others) and arrived at a conclusion that their reported trading volumes are mostly bogus. In any case, I don't trade there any more, so I'm not really interested in finding out whether my assumption is true or not. It is simply impossible to trade there in any meaningful way, that's all... So this exchange is pretty much done with

Could be a number of things. - There's an issue with their client (eg it's not running), so the deposit is never seen. Based on past experience it seems things need to look after themselves, and bter is not that interested in fixing any problems - even minor ones. - Their client may be on a different chain to the pool. - They may still be randomly losing deposits? ---> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=369205.msg3943288#msg3943288I have a small amount of CNC in my wallet. I'll try a test deposit and report back. edit: this text on their CNC deposit page doesn't sound promising: Crypto-currencies are credited within 1 minute after accessing this page or "My funds" page and only after 5000 confirmations of the transaction in the network. That kind of excessive requirement would usually be set if there's issues with the coin. A 5000 confirmation period would span a few days...

Test deposit hasn't shown up.
Last confirmed deposit is for the small and very oddly specific amount of 0.00000902 CNC (??) about two years ago ... I can't find any corresponding send in my wallet, nor can I think of why I would send such a miniscule amount. So yeah, I think it's probably broken.

A one man exchange can go on indefinitely I guess if it is fully automated it could go on for some time even without any human being behind it. Regarding disallowing withdrawals, all Chinese exchanges have halted Bitcoin withdrawals (as well as deposits, if I'm not mistaken). But somehow I thought that Bter is located in Hong Kong (yes, I know that it is part of China nowadays, though they typically don't follow the orders of the PBoC), but, for example, Bitfinex is also from Hong Kong (if my memory serves me right), but they didn't disallow Bitcoin withdrawals (correct me if I'm wrong on this)

Trying withdrawal of NMC, and it's showing the status as "Waiting for balance..."
I don't know if this means the hot wallet is temporarily empty due to higher than usual withdrawal activity for alts, and the wallet simply needs to be topped up (perhaps manually)... or that this coin is running fractional, and there's insufficient funds to complete the transaction.
Reminds me of the last days of Cryptsy........
edit: cancelled that withdrawal request and retried with the minimum 1.001 NMC amount - even that gets stuck with the "Waiting for balance..." message.
