Yes, there is a work around in the OP though. It requires you to export the private keys into a wallet that allows signing messages. Since there is no official way to export the keys either there is a work around for that as well.

Thank you so much for showing and teaching us how to sign a message and verify it. Everyone should know this, a highly recommended information. Another knowledge I've been acquired, hoping to learn more about this or any related information.

what does p2sh means? I can't get my private key in blockchain.info because I have already made an update there. I can't find the import/export in new update and there is no going back anymore, its my fault. Maybe I should try using the Bitcoin Core and electrum.

what does p2sh means?
P2SH (a.k.a Pay to Script Hash) is a new type of bitcoin address which was introduced as part of Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 16 (BIP 16) in early 2012. P2SH addresses can be secured by more complex algorithms than traditional bitcoin addresses. P.S.-> https://bitcoin.org/en/glossary/p2sh-address , https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2SH.In simple language(words), you(we) can say that P2SH=multisig. Maybe I should try using the Bitcoin Core and electrum.
No offense but I'd suggest you to use traditional wallets (e.g. blockchain.info old web wallet) ATM. After educating yourself, you can go for modern wallets for sure IMO.

More modern wallets? QT/Core is the original bitcoin client, and if you're abled to run a node/keep up with the blockchain, there's not much speaking against it. As a matter of fact, I'd suggest against using web wallets, and keep being the sole person in control over your private keys.

Wow, that's great. Thanks a lot for updating. I'll check it out and get my private keys now.

If you want to thank me, post a signed message. Its good for both of us. For you because you can see that you can sign a message that someone else can verify. For me because I know you actually learned something.

Just testing out this tutorial first time making a signed message as well. Yes, your message is verified! (Bitcoin Core) I think it's better to post it in the other thread: Stake your Bitcoin address hereEdit: I thought it was a bit OT, but then I noticed a lot of verification requests also in this thread.

I think we should to let people try here. Its not the same as staking an address. I see it more as the opportunity of a playground. Posting a signed message here that someone else can verify also shows me that people are actually able to sign message, while a "thx, learned it" does not and often feels like a spam post just to increase the counter by one. Thanks for the verification btw.

My first intention was just a little try to help keeping clean your usefull thread, but the playground idea is indeed the best way to check if people have understood how it works. Thanks for your how-to, Shorena. In these days it seems that even Satoshi has problems to sign a message: your tutorial should be sent to him!

The last time I had access to an iOS device it was not possible. We need to mail a link of this info to Craig Wright, apparently Satoshi has forgotten how to do it. Feel free to send him a copy. Since we are talking about very old keys, should be enough to send the bitcoin core part

As far as i know you can't sign a message on the new version. Some people here already complain about this and warn other not to update. There's a thread about this but i forgot where is that. or i just read it somewhere here. just for the info for blockchain new beta .
there is button " show private keys " now but . for the old address its not work the priv key will showing another address ,
i just tested with the new imported address and show priv keys its working . but not for the old address from blockchain legacy web wallet
