Title: Did anyone buy during $1200?
Post by: Sir_lagsalot on December 12, 2015, 07:28:06 PM
Hey all, just as the title says, did anyone buy bitcoin when it's price was at it's peak ($1200)? And did they sell as it was dropping, or did they still hold on? I personally felt something was happening when it peaked :-/

So, back to the topic. Did anyone buy, and did they sell as it dropped? How much did they lose? Did you feel really really sad? What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?

I brought about $10 of Bitcoins when it had dropped to $1000 to gamble on altcoins. I lost most of it, there's probably a few cents worth of worthless altcoins left from it. It's a good thing I didn't have more money to gamble with back then because I would have lost almost all of it making dreadful bets.

Some bought because of FOMO and sold immediately when they saw the price rapidly dropping, that's for sure. Seeing that there are still some people blaming bitcoin because of the wrong decision they made during the run to the ATH (can still read some rage post of bitcoin taking away their life savings etc.)

I only bought at 250 and 600 a year ago. Most of them went into miners which i already sold for quite a nice price.

Buying at 1200 would have been foolish, every person who did this has lost over 50% of it's money.

I was watching the price in 2013 when we had the huge spike, but I didn't buy any bitcoin until early this year, and I think the price was around $330 or something like that.  There were enormous swings in the price two years ago and it looked way too volatile for me.  It still is but my risk tolerance has increased somewhat.   ;)

I bought and sold some Bitcoin throughout that whole period, but I made more than I lost. I bought a bunch when they were still at around a hundred dollars back in early 2013.
I do remember only buying very small amounts (Euro-wise) when it was at its peak. The bubble was too obvious, I knew it was going to drop after it hit $1000.

Still happy with the choices I made back then, and I expect another bubble pretty soon, though this is just pure speculation.

A family member of me wanted to buy some coins just to try out what it is to have Bitcoin, and what it is to spend it, etc. If I'm not wrong, he bought $30 worth of Bitcoin. At that time he received around 0.028BTC for his $30  :D

i'm sure so many people buy on $1200, and did they sell as it dropped, and it happen to me on other crypto currency,i ever buy altcoin on cheap price, and after that the price is more cheaper, and never back to bgining price, just like them.

I think many also didn't sell because selling is taking loss. In the end nobody likes losing money nor are they pro traders, which understand that taking loss is sometimes the best thing to do..

A friend bought as it was climbing rapidly in 2013. He also had many coins from when it was far cheaper as well. His opinion was and still is to buy under $1000 and his outlook is long term as is mine. People need to quit looking at the price and do their homework. If you've got a thorough understanding of BTC then you have the confidence to buy and hold and not worry about the price. I say to anyone who bought at $1000, good for you! If you're still holding you will be rewarded nicely.

Buying above 1000 dollar much have been like an panic buy. When i buy bitcoins i always check the history of the price. If is just settled there, i would never buy it, unless i expect it to raise even more.

Hoping for a day to sell them back at 1100 or higher?

Bought before that but was too scared to sell, even though I kept telling myself it would drop for sure..

Reverse FOMO, fear of selling and missing out because of that is probably the feeling.

Probably many people lost a lot, but it is also likely that people sold their coins on the way back to 800 and 600 if they thought they were going to the moon at 1200.

Yeah most people are not willing to say if and how much they lost, But looking at the volumes that time, billions of euro's/dollars has been lost.
Going back from 1200 to 200 means some people (if they even sold it) lost over 80% of their investment. That's a lot mate.

I learned about bitcoin because that price spike happened. So I had to thank Mt.Gox and their bots for this. But frankly, if I was around during that time I wouldn't buy it
At that time price was enormous and it was obvious that it is a pump and dump scenario. People who bought at this peak were either too optimistic or silly to believe it would go higher.

Maybe for you, but not for others. There may have been people who got into bitcoin as the spike occurred and they hadn't had enough time to learn the more finer details of bitcoin - maybe not the smartest move, but it probably occurred all the same.

People who bought at this peak were either too optimistic or silly to believe it would go higher.

It's easy to scoff at them now that we can look back at that time period, and that we know it had gone down. However, back then a number of people thought bitcoin would continue to go up, no matter what others said.

Many people bought at such levels. Believe it or not, many got a chance to be introduced to bitcoin at that time because of all the attention it was receiving. It's unlikely that those who bought above 1000$ still hold their bitcoins from then, as people introduced to it for speculatory reasons have likely lost faith in the price rising to such levels again. It was a good time to be a trader though.

Yes, that true. Who ever first time they brought about 1000+ by thinking they can make huge profits by now they might have sold all those bitcoins for the huge lose. And also I don't think they will come back aging to bitcoin even price reach 10000+. It is common to any one once they lost trust on any one or thing most likely in their life time they will not look back into that. Lucky I didn't buy any at that price but started trading only recently. Currently prices looks like up trend don't know how long it will survive that price.

I haven't bought any bitcoin when price was at 1k mark. Better to say at those days i am not involved in bitcoin trading. Buy on steady price as it is more likely to go upward because steady price show people are holding for that price.

Really... $1200 is a bargain for you, you must be real rich. It doesn't really seem like a bargain to me seeing as that you could have bought Bitcoin when it was just a couple of cents.

This. Lots of people bought at 1000+, that's why the price went that high in the first place (Willy aside) and was the time when BTC had its greatest exposure. Of course when the price goes so high so quickly, the new dumb money can't really absorb many expensive coins whereas the earlier adopters have endless quantities to dump...

Many people dont like to admit when they are wrong, and buyin at 1200$ is a wrong thing to do. As I see here some people did buy at that time and I believe there is more of them here who did the same thing. I think people will buy bitcoin even for much bigger price then 1200 $, if just half of predictions are true bitcoin will worth much more then that, so these people are not stupid they will just need to wait a bit longer to earn some money, and of course they will earn a bit less.

When did we even top. At $1400? Even at some exchanges out there at that time, no trades have been recorded over $1300. If you bought at the top, that isn't gut feeling but rather FOMO you've just experienced.

I didn't buy at $1200 but I know if i had the money, I definitely would of. Now it seems just picking up a few bitcoins for $300-$400 seems like a relative bargain at the price at those times. The real issue is how long individuals are willing to wait and the amount of coins they have in their possession until bitcoin is widely used. I myself have some bitcoins which in the foreseeable future have no intention on spending.

No, I didn't buy because to invest in something you should have extra money and what I normally have is just the amount to buy food, to pay bills and to spend a bit on fun. But even if I had the money I wouldn't buy at $1200. At the time I thought that  the fair price for 1 BTC is $1000 and that it will drop from $1200 to $1k and will stay there forever. I was wrong obviously. )

I bought my coins when BTC was going at $10 per coin. Some of my friends bought Bitcoin when the rate was $0.1 per coin (mostly in 2010 and 2011). I don't know anyone who bought the coins in 2013 December, when the peak price ($1,200 as per Mt Gox, $1,050 in BTC-e) was reached. IMO, at that time, most of the buyers were from China and Hong Kong.

Same thing happens with most of us we need to be more focussed on Bitcoin and keep a track of all the fluctuations because during these fluctuation we can earn more profit . i.e when the price is high sell it and when the price dips down buy it

Never did sell.

No, but I did buy my first BTC when the price was in the $700s, headed lower.   I have been a steady buyer since.  If I had to add it all up, my best guess is that break-even for me is the $450 - $500 range.

If we get moves upwards to $1200 again, I will continue to buy.  Breaking past its ATH would be a GREAT sign that BTC will do very well given time.

I remember selling bitcoins person to person when it passed 1100-1200 mark, and when i talked to people about why they are investing and their plans,
they mostly had similar answers - that they are very optimistic about bitcoin and how they will hold for longterm. The funny thing is, that they forgot all
about that once it started dipping under , and soon enough - they sold at a loss.

wow you've made a good decision, holding your bitcoin when the price down, if i was on your position i might sold them, but it doesn't mean anything since bitcoin will going to hit the $1k again, and you can sell your bitcoin

I repeat this lots of times. REAL investors are incredibility patient and if you want to play with the big boys, you need to implement that habit. Buying when the price goes up and selling as soon u see a few of red candles s gonna make you lose money 100%. Just stick to your coins and wait for July 22 2016.

i never know bitcoin went upto 1200 lol, i thought the highest was around 1000. i started using bitcoin when it was around 1000 but didnt really buy much. i remember buying like 0.01 coins

1,254 or something is where it topped out! lol  I didn't have any at that time.

>$1200 was the price on mtgox when it was in its death throes. Everyone was madly buying bitcoin there coz they couldn't withdraw cash and bitcoin seemed the only way out.
The price on reliable exchanges at the time was more like $1167 (finex) and even that was probably affected by the gox price. Not a big difference I guess, but worth mentioning.

PS what advantages do you get by having a dopecoin, rather than just using bitcoin?

Tons of people bought at $1200 i think its safe to say judging by the volumes on exchanges at the time.  I think i bought a couple @ $900 myself, my feelings are i just went numb to price and tbh i dont really care until we see $3k or $5k.

I put all my savings (around USD 5000) at the very peak. I am currently broke and would need some of the money but I subsequently spent it all on pizza (last food order I placed with BTC was in September IIRC) because I believe in crypto *currency* :)

You can try selling an amount after few days as the price may most probably reach $550 but your loss is going to be huge. Many people bought bitcoins when it was $1000 and they are still holding their coins. Buying too much at those high prices is too risky. I hope that you are able to sell those coins though.

If he/she bought again at $200, they would have eliminated most of the losses at if they sold it now. I guess most people would find it difficult to buy again, if they bought at those

prices, but it's the only way to work yourself out of that situation. Bitcoin is still volatile enough to trade your way out of that situation. We should just accept that this will be a

high risk investment. It could just as easily went up to $10 000 ....What will these people say then?

Buy time: 200-300$
Sell time: Over 700$
I'm waiting for 2000$ :D

Alright then i guess I can make a sort of prediction here  :)

1. You will never buy Bitcoins again (BTC will never drop below $300 )

2. You will start selling part of your coins in 2017 (when it will be over $700 )

3. If you are waiting for $2000 to sell all your coins then you'll hold most of your coins several years from now

No, he's actually right u know, because he was probably referring to new users, who only hear about bitcoin for the first time when it
hits news stories. So naturally the price gets higher, and smart old investors sell at high to those new people, and buy when price correct's itself.

I didn't know much about the bitcoin price when it was at $1,200 so i consider my self as lucky that i didn't buy at a higher price.

Lol even I am lucky because I got it for very less and now it's value has almost doubled and I feel rich now btw I don't think more people would have bought when Bitcoin was at $1200

If someone didn't buy it then price wouldn't go up that higher. Yes I've bought some @1100$ ;)

Hehe true. Tell me did you sold them to prevent a larger loss. or did you keep them.
Hoping for a day to sell them back at 1100 or higher?
I kept some of them to sell at 2000$ (still HODL'ing some of them :) )
But I'm not in loss at all, I invested later & made more BTC.

Even if you bought at 1200 it is good. Bitcoin price will increase. Just need to be patience.

Saddly, My first bitcoin purchase was at the 1100s.  I did try to average down and buy more when price continued to go down.  My average cost today is still around $600 per.   Hopefully, I'll break even sometime next year.

I didn't but there was allot of market activity at the time so definitely some people were buying, that's the thing with BTC volatility is the fact the price can shift very rapidly.

what will you do when you break even, sell? i would just wait with selling untill we reached the block halving. by that time we might see the price come closer to $1000. then you make yourself a nice profit too.

I know some people that bought right at the top, the guys were so pissed off and solt at a loss, bunch of idiots if you ask me, since to win with Bitcoin you only have to wait, and this year we will go higher than ATH, but the weak hands will not reap the benefits.

Thats the thing. If you have bitcoins, you need this thing called patience. You should seen how angry some of my friends were they sold the coins acquired for $10-20 for ~$550, as the price continued to rise to $1,000+. They lost 50%+ profit.  :o

A friend of mine sold at that price but no one know ever decided to buy at that price.  Everyone I know rode the wave up to the marks above the $1200 and when it was coming back down, they dove out of the way.  Who could blame them.

No, I didn't buy at that time, but learned more about btc from all that attention. Used faucets for the longest time, before getting higher membership

here then getting into signature campaigns. I have since bought a miner and had  miner from before and sold coins that I have mined since. Better

profits since then. Still planning to buy a bigger miner and mine more altcoins and sell them off. I could write money making ebooks and sell cheap, but

good ones for the supplemental income.

With simple trading logic, number of selling transaction in $1200 there must be equivalent amount of buying transaction also. So, there are many buyers who bought $1200 here.

when some one decide to invest for "easy money" well in vast majority of case will lost all funds or a big portion...
like people that buy stock only for "the name" of some company...well marketing could be good to attract people to buy a product but not have the same mean of "company profit"... this sort of feeling it's the same that hit people when using HYIP... they got attracted by the marketing and identifies this expense as a proof of what a company do!
by the way... every time I did to some friends/parents "buy btc price will increase" price go down... I have to stop to make prediction ;)

why not? if I continue to see a positive environment behind the development of this e-currencies why not buy more (even if I have the "$" possibility?)
If you look with the eyes of the "investor" you will lost your money (and patience), but if you look as a new technology with strong potential, the price is not a matter ;)

Bitcoin also can become idle coins,if they buy when price really high, and if they buy bitcoin when $1200 they have difficult situation,if they sold, they lose some value. If they not sold, they will wait until bitcoin reach $1200 again, and thats impossible for this month.

I personally know a friend who bought them when they were around $1000. He was too excited about the price inflation and claimed that the prices would further reach new heights of $5000+(idk from where did he got that information), the prices never went that high and so he is still holding his coins and is looking to get rid of them during the next halvening.

Bitcoin will come down one way or another. Even when bitcoin will reach $1200 some time this year, I honestly doubt that it will stay at a stable $1000, I think it will come down to a stable $600 - $700

It's not difficult at all. Every one that is looking realistically at Bitcoin and look at the current market cap, will know that volatility and Bitcoin are tied together for several more years. It's because there are too many early adopters. Their influence on the price is reaching very far. We have to deal with it.

We need some market stablisation force to keep the price within certain range so the price do not go up and down too much.

I would hope many people are doing that - unless they went ALL in @ 1200 & needed to cash out with a loss to accommodate RL issues.

Let's say you had a bunch of btc before it rose to 1200, but used some profit from trading to buy in (with the hopes it'd continue to rise).  Then, BAM!  Pitfalls to abysmal levels.  Why WOULDN'T you hold?

Yeah, and thank god that we were lucky enough that we didn't buy bitcoin when the price was $1200 or else at a moment we would be messed up with bitcoins and surely go through huge losses, I joined bitcoins 8 months ago and that time the price was comparatively low, so even at this stage I am enjoying profits.

People that bought at $1200 can't do much other than holding and waiting/hoping the price will come close to that price again. I do however think that a good portion of these people that did buy at the $1200 peak, have sold on the way down to prevent even bigger losses. It costs time, but eventually we'll be on these +$1000 levels again. Keep holding.

I only bought at 250 and 600 a year ago. Most of them went into miners which i already sold for quite a nice price.

Buying at 1200 would have been foolish, every person who did this has lost over 50% of it's money.

You're saying that but what's the difference between someone buying at 1200 and the people buying at 450 few days ago? In both cases there was a huge rise without anything to back it and if the price seems stable it could have dropped a lot! And it may drop to 300$ in just a few hours, you can't know with btc...

Nope not me. But I knew someone who bought it... he is still upset and bitter about it til now.
Anyway, I feel if you are buying or invest in bitcoin, you need to know how much you are willing to pay for it. (And what u are going use it for)

no, I began to know the bitcoin when the price is back down to $ 600

So you did not buy the coins at $1200. Did you buy any at $600. Are you going to buy now when the price is $370?

I haven't bought at $1200 or know anyone buying at that price, but from the charts maybe at that particular time there were a lot of people selling. Anyhow, those who did buy at $1200 would right now be dissatisfied by their move, best would be to hold and expect another jackpot :P

I didn't, sounds crazy that some people bought bitcoin for such a high price. I don't blame them though, nobody knows where bitcoin is going
Bitcoin is very unpredictable.

Nope, I only sold at this time. I had high doubt it would've gone any further up and buying during very quick price increases is always risky because it can easily crash right back down in a matter of an hour. If you bought at 1200 however it's best to just hold onto it for now rather than sell at 400, as there is a good chance bitcoin will go back up around that price some day.

No brother, I didn't get the chance to buy the Bitcoins when it was at his peak amount of $1200, but those who was buying that time and the price started dropping then he or she really felt the pain of losing big amount of money.

What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?
i am sure someone buy bitcoin when the price was $1200,and then they sell it on price of $1300 ;D just trader who do that.

People were simply thinking that the price would rise to $1500 or even $2000. At that point any one with his mind being in fairly decent condition will decide to NOT buy. The price went up to such a not realistic price level in a very short time, it was just a matter of time before the price would crash.

I am surprised that a lot of people here think that the peak value of $1,261 was real. Unfortunately, it was achieved through dubious means by the Mt Gox guys. They artificially inflated the exchange rate, by rigging the order book in Mt Gox. If I remember correctly, the exchange rate in BTC-e was around $1,050 per coin when the peak price was reached in Mt Gox. The spread was more than $200.

$1200 is too high price to buy 2-3 years ago. That was almost 20 times of the lowest price in 2013. That price was manipulated by Mt Gox.

I did buy some (less than 0.1 BTC) but it was for an item online so can't say it was costly since it was given for USD value almost immediately, seen some people buying few BTC's at the time and waiting for a bigger rise but the price went downward after that.

I was also not involved at that time with bitcoin. But the OP asked at that thread has a great value for the traders as that time can come again, hope in the future. In the future if I saw that the bitcoin has crossed $500 and is increasing constantly then I will buy it without any fear and after that even if decrease occurred then I will not fear for anything, because just holding will result in profits always here.

Anyone who bought at $1,200 on FOMO got what was coming to them. By then the train had already left the station many miles ago and it would be like trying to get on by jumping onto it from an overpass as it was traveling 80 MPH, but not looking down the tracks to notice it was about to go over a bridge that was out.. :)

Well most people panic buyed themself coins at 1200
It's a bad decision really to buy an asset which has grown so much in a short time.
It was to be expected the price would go down eventually.

I have managed to make all my losses back though and it is a thing of the past so has no bearing on my emotional state. I think it may well have if i had not become in profit from it.

While that is poetic do you really believe people would have jumped on to a moving train had they know it was the peak. Needless to say they would not, nobody knew because in this reality you can't see down the track unless you are the whales creating the prices..

I have had my share of market missteps and get mine when it is deserved, I do not place myself above that. But in this particular case we had people who had no knowledge of trading, much less Bitcoin itself, going out and tossing $1,200 at something because "if they didn't hurry they would miss out."

What they got was indeed what they deserved, a big slap down for acting so irrationally instead of doing a bit of research to look at the parabolic rise up and pausing a bit to consider that maybe it wouldn't go up like this much longer. If you only bought 1 BTC or less at that price consider it a bargain in a lesson in cold hard reality.

The general rule goes like this buy low sell high and I don't think anyone bought during the $1200 rise.

That price could be generated by a robot in the Mt Gox exchange. Somebody said that Willy the robot operated in Mt Gox.

Where would you get that nobody brought in around the $1k price? Not all the volume was fake and many would have brought in for 1k and more. Not sure why anyone would be proud of themselves for buying in at the price.

I'm sure I bought some @ about $1100 using Bitfinex, Btc-e and Bitstamp if I'm not mistaken. I've also bought some at like $2 :))))) it's good that I bought lots more for $2 than for $1100))

Well, I just thought about one more detail: traders could make a good deal of that volume. Anyway, some of them lost a creepy amount of cash on those deals.

I didn't, sounds crazy that some people bought bitcoin for such a high price. I don't blame them though, nobody knows where bitcoin is going
Bitcoin is very unpredictable.

At the rate it was growing it didn't seem "such a price" at all, people were just thinking it would continue to rise indefinitely...

Yeah, and people who have bought for that huge price would be definitely disappointed with present value and they would surely stop having faith in bitcoins but the only thing they can do at a moment is to wait for bitcoin to climb up.

If you bought during 1200 USD, all you have to do is wait 10 years, and add two 00's at the end of 1200, so that's 120000 USD, but most people are here for the long term and will not make it.

That's the problem bitcoin is facing, that people get panic very soon and they sell when the price fall down, and big fish takes the advantages of it, but I really feel sorry for those who bought at that high price and still holding it.

Correct, that's the perfect strategy to follow, Even I bought  when the price was $250 so at a moment I am enjoying profits but still I am holding it as the price would cross $400 mark in next couple of weeks so will sell at that time.

Yep. End of 2013. 1200 was Mt Gox and some don't think of that as a 'real' price because you couldn't withdraw dollars. It hit $1163 on Bitstamp so that's the real peak for some people.

What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?
sadly,i buy at that time, enjoying dream that sometime bitcoin will more better than that price, and now i am relize that it was impossible,at least for this month.

I did not buy bitcoin during 1200 cause if you buy it at that point you would have made a 50 percent loss so i think when it was 1200 lots of people decided to sell which caused it to crash again down to 500 or whatever it was after that. so always when price goes that high sell them all before they crash and never buy them when they are peaking.

There where people who bought at 1 cent as well so I think it's a kind of equilibrium, I bought a small sum "less than 0.1 BTC" at that price and expected the rise to continue but it got blasted back to $200's at a time, now at $600 so the total decrease in value is not that massive now.

Is someone buying now? There will always be someone who is buying, so on that 1200 some people also bought coins. I assume they still keep their coins and wait for price to go back and higher. Only like that they cam make some profit from that.
Who knows how much they will need to wait for that, no one knows. We can only hope that it will happen soon.

Are you mad, why they want to wait for the same price to go and then they will sell, after $1200 price it went down very low and now it is back in $600 price so i think if anyone bought at $1200 then surely they would have also bought some coins in low rate and averaged the price and now they will be in profit or before this itself they got profit.

Exactly, and no one knows what is the right time to buy, as if we buy at $600 hoping that price will rise but suddenly may be it can fall to $400 tomorrow, so that doesn't mean that we are stupid.

it depends on why they have bought bitcoin and what they did with it afterwards.
there are many different scenarios:
- if it was bough as an investment to just hold and sell after the rise, then they should have sold it long before it reached $200 and not selling is stupid.
- if it was bought as an investment and they sold at a loss then it is still ok.
- if it was bought to use bitcoin as a currency then it never matters what price you buy bitcoin at, it is always a wise choice.

Luckily I hadn't invested a dime in bitcoin around the ATH of $1200. I'd be pretty butt hurt if I had right now.

I'm sure we'll see a new ATH in the not too distant future (year or two) though so it's not utter devastation for those who bought at $1200.

Title: Re: Did anyone buy during $1200?

I think the majority of people sold their Bitcoins at the time Bitcoin has reached 1200$ because otherwise, it should have gotten into a higher price instead. Some people surely did bought Bitcoins at 900$, 1000$, 1100$, 1150$, because bitcoin rose up to 1200$. If someone did buy Bitcoins at 1200$, then he surely did lose a lot of money if he already sold his Bitcoins. If he's still waiting for Bitcoin to rise higher than 1200$ for profit, then he has a lot of waiting to do.

10 years is a very long period of time for traders that have a lot of capital, it is more profitable with short trade if you have a huge capital rather than holding ut for 10 years and didn't know what will gonna happen

Yup, the very thought of true friends. Indeed we should have to do short term trades when we have only very minimal capital. for if we only imitate the lifestyle of the rich, I assure you that we will not be able to get what they get (the wealth of the rich). Before we rich, then we should be thinking of doing something different things and have a level headed higher than rich people who already get the wealth

HODLING is the key to success in this game. The weak hands will never be winners in bitcoin. Every time we have a drop of 100 USD or so people start to panic, it's pathetic.

Yes people are buying bitcoin in any price because bitcoin is increasing its price more and more and i am sure that bitcoin are going to double its price in the near future and it will be too profitable for us.

None of them are reading this forum anymore probably. If i were to buy bitcoins when the price was 1200$, i would never ever want to hear anything about bitcoins after that happened. It has been 3 fookin years. They probably panic sold their coins from the whatever current price they had. I just hope they didn't do it when the price was 200$. That would be a nice reason to suicide. Double suicide more likely.

I didn't know anything about bitcoin at that time. I realy hope I know about bitcoin earlier before $1200 . but I still realy trust that bitcoin will reach that price again. There is always fluctuation in currency, isn't it?

I must be surprised, if anyone is here who buy the bitcoin in $1200, and again he hold it for making profit. I believe no one is here in this Signature campaign because bitcoin's price give us profit. and if we already buy it in expensive price than how can we make profit from it?

Some people did this without any doubts, in that time people thought it was going to rise to a even higher price but of course this not happened.
Some people just wanted to make profit but you can also lose that are the rules of the game you are playing.

I think most of the people bought at that price hoping that it will go even higher after that but unfortunately it fall back dramatically and many people lost huge capital in it.

Yeah, you are indeed very true. Some people occasionally misinterpreting something. Indeed a bitcoin can be profitable for us, but also the bitcoin can give bad impact on us when we invest it with all the money we have so that we can't do something to meet the needs

Never put all your money at single place, especially in bitcoins as no one knows what will happen with it in future and if we invest all money in it and if it disappears then it will make us bankrupt for sure.

No, I haven't. But I should have sold at that price, I'm sorry I didn't. The price in the future could go up a bit comparing to current price but I don't think taht it will reach 1200$ again. At least not in the near future.

It has potential to achieve that price in future but no one knows when that time will exactly come, and I didn't buy at that high price but I bought when price was $250 last year.
yeah, bitcoin potential is really huge in my opinion and i think that in the future the price might be going up even more

I know nobody who would buy bitcoins when the price get so high, only know those who sold some bitcoins that moment and that was real luck by my opinion. But as you noticed there are people who buy always. And I am thinking everything they have now is the regret from such step. But not only that, for sure they hope to bitcoin grow. Someone even promissed 4000$ on August here on the forum. Is it happen? No. So my advice is - don't trust everything what is written about bitcoin's price here.

I am sure that there are some people that bought for that price but I am not one of those people because that is way to much money for me to be spending on Bitcoin.
The highest I bought Bitcoin for was when the price was around $500.

At that time I wasn't in the Bitcoin world. I wish I were! At this price it was the good opportunity to make the money. I'm not sure if the price will ever be so high again.  :(

I wasn't there at that time as well, but I believe that bitcoin price will be even higher in the future :)

Hahah I sure hope not OP. I'm sure there were quite a lot of people out there who exchanged some of there coins for fiat as it would be hard to resist the temptation that comes with that sort of price. I'm sure there are some people out there who foolishly bought at 1200 and are bag holding waiting for the price to get close to that again. I know if I was one of them I probably wouldn't be admitting that on a public forum though :)

I do not think that people would buy for this because it is so high not many people would be like I am just going to to buy some Bitcoin for $1200.
Many people could do better things with that much money then investing it on Bitcoin.

there were many people buying at +$1000 levels back in 2013. people that bought at such prices were seriously thinking the price would rise even further from that point. it was pure greed that took the price to reach a new all time high. these people got burned heavily. from $1200 to sub $200 is sick.

Yeah those are the people who have suffered huge losses in the past, and that is the reason we should not invest our all money in it as we never know what picture bitcoin will show us tomorrow.

This you are telling because you have not seen that much price manipulation in that time period, even if anyone has bought at $1200 price bitcoin that would not be problem as after that the price has also gone too down and would have averaged it and in the $700 period of time would have seen profit also.

I have never bought any bitcoins till now, i am just earning through signature campaign, doing skill work for bitcoin and doing altcoin trading. and converting to fiat currency and filling my family expenses.

I think he was hoping for much higher price in future, so he kept on holding them and suddenly price crashed which would have given him loss, but if he had sold them at $1200 then it can be a smart decision.

No, I find myself in a confused situation because I was not there when bitcoin was cheaper than $1 and even when it was $1,200. I joined bitcoin somewhere in between that period and was on sleep mode for few months, I wish I could short sell when the price was at peak but anyway, I am damn sure that bitcoin will reach that height soon in the future (probably in a year) and we might make some party.
