What is ceal?
 
Ceal is a decentralized blockchain and libtorrent-based network designed for information sharing, especially for freedom of expression and freedom of opinion.
Nowadays cencorship is the major threat related to the freedom of speech/opinion. As a result of technological and political circumstances it is possible to quieten people and to prevent them from sharing their thoughts/ideas especially questioning/critical statements.

In order to stop those problems, ceal offers a decentralized, merkle-tree and torrent based network-structure which can not be censored. It enables a registration for users through a blockchain-interface and guarantees them a safe identification/authentification method (based on ECDSA). In addition all communication inside the ceal-network is end-to-end encrpyted which means nobody can spy on you.
From a technical perspective ceal represents an overlay-network which is separated into four layers, where each layer is mostly independent from each other:


a) Blockchain layer for decentralized user registration and authentication (based on bitcoin) for securing the network-alias ownership.

b)P2P datastructure in the sense of distributed hash table network for resource storage (key and values) and its retrieval by peers/tracker locations as well as direct messages between users.

c)The 3rd layer is a collection of torrent swarms (the users active on a torrent) which are not necessarily on the same node (disjunct organisation). This redundant layer is based on the bittorrent protocol and provides efficient data delivery to users and a faster peer-track as well as propagation of the posts/messages (public and PMs).
 
d)The last network is an additional blockchain network for transferring value between network-users. This can be addressed by their public key(s) which, apart from the value-transferral, also allow honoring special contributions/authors. We want the user to build a base for a meritocratic system with ceal. By using the same 0x01 byte like declared in the user/auth-blockchain to the private-key before base58 encoding, users can use the same privkey for securing authentication and spending/transferring value inside the two different networks.

Transferral of value inside the ceal-network:

To provide value-transferral-ability independently from other currencies the cealnet has its very own internal monetary-system. The tokens used in this blockchain are called "CEAL". CEAL is created for rewarding authors, revolutionaries and those who deserve but also useable to pay network user for special services. This shall build the base for a meritocratic and anarchistic community-model. Technically CEAL is a Proof of Stake cryptocurrency, rewarding the network maintainer with two percent per year.

The created CEAL will be partitioned in relation to the crowdfund-amount amongst the backers of CEAL. This transferral takes place 72 hours after the crowdfund is complete. The campaign is held to enable development, maintenance and promotion on a professional scale. not sure what you mean with "frosted". But last post before this ANN was last month SEPTEMBER. In JULY/AUG i was online multiple times a day but not posting publicly because i had not much time. I did 2 development projects for users from this community (one exchange and one deep pentest/sec-audit). So this account was more than active.

What does it mean? Those 3 days have already started? Why do you want to attract everybody to collect in the first 3 days? Typically this is done in short-term projects, to create rush... Why do you need it?

Also, please give an example. If I invest today, I fall into both categories (crowd-funders and early-adopters), so will I get share both from those 10%, and from another 80%? Or the 80% are reserved for those who invest after 3 days?

80% from total coin supply are going to be shared with the ICO participants according to their investment amount.If you invest within 3 days you're eligible to receive bonus from 10% reserve for early adopter from those 80% coins. Example:  if total supply is 100,then 80 will be distributed through ico campaign. from those 80 coins 10% or 8 coins will be distributed to early investors proportional to their investment amount.if only 2 people invest within 3 days they will receive 4 coins each+a share from the 80 reserve coin for ico participants. noob explain can be wrong,sorry :-[

If you invest today you will be a backer + early bird. This is the benefit for the people who support us from the very beginning. This is only for the first three days. After that supporters get the 80% reserve.

Example: You back the project today. Yout get the proportional amount from the 80% (which is calculated at the end of the crowdfund) + you get the proportional amount of the 10%. This 10% will be shared between all "early-birds".

Nice try but wrong. 10% are not included from the 80%. according to your example let me explain,if total coins are 100 then 10 is going to the team. 10 reserved for early investor and 80 is for ico participants.If you invest today you'll get a share from 10 + 80. but if you invest after 3 days you'll only get share from 80 according to your amount of investment.

But you missed my another question above - why do you create such rush at the beginning, when you have one whole month for ICO? 10% of supply is very big amount, and only few backers with insider knowledge could fully trust and invest in 3 days (which is extremally short period to understand the legitimacy of the project for an unrelated person).
From the other hand, many scam coins are using this approach to draw more funds from greedy people, who prefer to invest in something hyped without understanding the real value of the project.

In both cases, such reward structure is not good, and raises suspicions. Why did you choose such small time window for the bonus?

you are welcome. We wanted to provide the early backers some sort of benefit and to get the crowdfund rolling. We did not want to raise suspicions. We might widen the timeframe to couple more days. Would this be better? But like said - we want the early supporters to get a little bigger reward.

I think to hold ICO or things like that need to show proof of data complete information about yourself or the team working on your project

to drays: I saw recent ico gave 10 hours or even 1 hours time to grave the bonus. upto 75%. Decent ico bonus held for 1 or more week for 50%.Its attract more people to take their decision early,because some people understand the whole project within 1 hour or day and waited for the last hour to make an investment.And some people wants the early bonus to grab some extra coins so that if all ico coins are sold out after listing with a minimum profit,still they are in more profits compared to the rest of the investors.Giving a bonus is a part of marketing and a reward to them who supported early.But using escrow ensure us about the security of ico fund.so if anything bad happen during the ico you can ask for a refund.

many people are deceived by ICO or some sort of fundraiser, let's look at the experience of those who have lost a lot of bitcoin in a few years and I think that the problem can be prevented, at least necessary and fair to display the complete data information about the developer and also the team

yes we have translation and media bounties. other campaigns will added to OP.


most of auth-related parameters have been added and Transaction class rewritten to be suitable with alias-propagation.
coinbase is adapted so there are no coins to be spent anymore in layer 1 of cealNET. network-alias is integrated and duplicate detection upon net-propagation.
GUI is missing. At the moment i do all in shell.

layer 4 - cealtokens blockparameters have been generated and declared. GUI work in progress.

but you can check this all alone in couple days. I will put on github this week. and roadmap is in work.

Yes, I a wider timeframe would be much more appropriate. I agree it is good to have a bonus for early supporters to attract them and in general to make people invest earlier (as other guy also pointed here), but I cannot agree someone could make justified conclusion in 1 hour or 1 day with so much information missing at the moment (escrow issues, need to make team more visible, need to make some code available etc, so people could make some reasonable assessment). Given all that, 3 days is too short period. It is more of a time period for gamblers, not early supporters :)

I suppose 1 week could be much more reasonable.

Doesn't STEEM already solve the censorship issues by providing all the data in the immutable blockchain? What is the advantages of your approach?

On another topic:
The whitepaper is so abstract, really... I don't feel somebody has dedicated considerable effort to think this out from top to bottom, not even speaking of going into the details. It looks like the implementation is very far from being really started, as during coding, every single detail has to be 100% understood and accounted for. One cannot actually code while having only such abstract ideas.

Maybe I am wrong. But everything looks to be seriously raw here. Unless more details are provided (actual code and/or more detailed paper) I am personally not inclined to invest here.

as far as i can tell and iirc steem is storing textcontent in the blockchain. i personally think storing "big" data in the blockchain is not a good idea, so agree some of my developer-collegues.

Our approach is very different and will use torrent-network, based on a scheme such as kademilla for storing the data. I will happy to explain you more, based on codes we are releasing this week. It will contain a lot of our base-work, which i think, will clear questions.

I agree that you shouldn't be in a hurry. Please guys, we are going to provide escrow. And we even said that the 3 day time frame will start when the escrow is available so that nobody needs to rush in order get the early adopter bonus.

If we were a scam, wouldn't we try to get everybody to invest as quickly as possible instead of waiting for the escrow? I understand the scepticism, I do. It's the wild west here. So please, everybody: wait for the escrow. Then you don't have to worry.

There is space for this project in the market, but the way the developers go about it is fishy with so many unanswered questions, I don't understand why the developer is in a rush to start the ICO when so many investors are still undecided about the project. Project like Wings has been active on this forum for months just to make sure everything works right but you arrived expect to win investor's trust.

Investor Verification

This is important in case of refunds have to happen and you want your investment back. Please note that refunds probably are bound to a fee because of the immense amount of work a refund means for an escrow.

There are two ways to verify your investment which is important when, for some reason, the investment has to be refunded back to investors.

First way:

Only send Bitcoins from an address you can sign a private message from or at least where you are able to get the private key for that address! This is important since in case of REFUND you can't proof otherwise that you sent bitcoins when you, for example, sent the bitcoins directly from an Exchange. In that case better send them first to your wallet and then from there to the escrow address.

Second way:

Another alternative to proof your ownership of a payment would be to send me the last 4 numbers of your user id as satoshies in your transaction.

Move your mouse over my username, see my profile id is 18640. You can see yours when you are in your profile and hover the mouse over the links on the left menu. Something like u=18640 in the links show your User-ID. The last 4 digits are 8640. When you add these 4 numbers as satoshies to your payment then it is pretty sure it's your payment too.

For example you want to send 2 bitcoins and your profile id would be 18640 then you send 2.00008640 Bitcoin.

Refunds possible?

Refunds can only be done in case the issuer agrees or there are reasons to stop the ICO by the escrow, because there came up doubts that make the ICO too insecure to proceed.

As long as you did not verify your investment transaction in some way I will see your investment as unverified. Otherwise it could mean a random person could claim an investment as his investment and steal it from a shareholder.

Refunds can only be done instantly when you can proof ownership of the investment. Either by signing a message from the sending bitcoin address or by your investment amount matching your forum user id. See description about verification above.

If you can't proof the ownership of an investment and a refund needs to be done then you need to wait some weeks so that the risk of being scammed is lower for me and the (potential real) owner of that investment. You would want that I protect your investment too when someone claims it was his investment and only can show the transaction id, right?

Refundfee

Since the huge amount of work coming from refunding many individual investors, having to have a conversation with each of them and so on, I had to establish a fee for refunding.
This fee applies when the dev is not paying the initially negotiated fee for the funds I refund.

The fee structure is meant per investor, regardless of how many investments happened, and looks like this:

Minimum fee of 0.01 BTC or the fee structure, whatever is higher:

>=$500,001 = 0,5%
$500,000 - $50,001 = 1%
$50,000 - $10,001 = 2%
$10,000 - $1,001 = 3%
$1,000 - $101 => 5%
<=$100 => 10%

thank you. From what i read, inchain is a insurance platform. We have no relation with Inchain. Milestones are going to be reached on time. The ceal-tokens netlaunch will be in time. The distribution upon crowdfund investors will take place on or around november 16th or 48h after the crowdfund has ended. We, the ceal-team have further plans with our platform. Mostly on cpp. Few python and shell scripts going to included in the alpha. I worked a lot with c, cpp - lot embeded development. You can not survive as developer without this knowledge. IMO this is the real software-developing. My web-developments are/were mainly free-time projects and hobbies. I think about it as digital art. But i also think any good developer can do webdevelopment beside "real" coding without big efforts.

Excuse me, what do you mean saying "more expected soon"? Why escrow address is not up to date yet? It is several hours already its balance did not change, so there was plenty of time to forward the funds there, moreover this is supposed to be automatic process. From one hand, I would like it to be pushed back, so I might invest a bit more (though this again starts to look suspicious), from the other hand, it is not good to push back the deadline all the time (remember - it was pushed back two times already!), as it creates some doubts the devs are firm in their plans, and so they can be relied upon...

I do not see where the problem is, but will answer to the best of my belief. We showed trustworthiness in multiple ways. Funds are being transfered automatically on treshold. But additionally we manually initialise the transfer daily (mostly multiple times daily). As the funds are being held in escrow, i see no negative interpretation-room or reasons to allege us of self-investing for bonus (inside trading). It is also pretty unfair. Anyway - bonus-timeframe is finished, if you check my post from yesterday. We have currently ~12 BTC on escrow and some other BTC which were transfered within the bonus-timeframe (provably) but not signed correctly yet. So this is why kwest said it is not up to date yet. Those will be transfered at valid confirmation. All should be clear now drays.

I don't think the lack of marketing strategies is the main reason. Ceal has no obvious advantage over its opponents Steem and Synereo. Also, it seems there's no business model in this project.

I honestly don't know much about the architecture behind steem or synereo. Are they both 100% anonymous (hides IP/identity)? Encrypted messaging? It would seem to me that they don't have the same goal as ours, which is simply freedom of speech and trade. Anti-censorship if you will.

no, they have all absolutely different architectures. MAIN-platform (most user) of steem (steemit) is fully centralized and not anonymous. The architecture is indeed decentralized like the steem-devs explain and not to be censored. They are all great proejcts. But different motivations, goals, use-cases..  But again, we are comparing apples with cheesecake. Our main goal is clearly anarchistic meriocracy.
It is like facebook, twitter, blogger. They have many things in common (technically). But they are all totaly different.

the design did not left space for a bottleneck. as aforementioned we do NOT store data (in the sense of images, texts, and so on) in the blockchain. we store data (in the sense of content) in the layer 2-3 of the cealNET. the blockchain layer (#1) is solely used for registration/authentication. To your question if our platform will scale: I think so, but only time will show us. The dht concept will distribute the content-resources steady to every dht-node (data include content-information itself and profile infos. These data is produced on a very slow volume. The registration database exists on every node (blockchain scheme) with just ~hundred bytes per user.
This reg-database will grow once we reach million of users but will never be comparable to the bitcoin tx-db. We have some plans for future enhacements (lightweight client, not in need to load complete reg-db, and so on and so on).


Swarm members in the bittorrent network know each ONLY by IP and this is good so. This bittorrent layer provides NO track/trail of the username. Content which is stored in the network never is related to the network alias. For example look at the DHT network: Normally each user is identified via IDx which reveals a users IP, port and even online-presence because it contains the hashed username. Instead we simply hash the IP and port of a user and use this information hash(ip,port) as the unique node-identifier.

early investment bonus time ended. it was 18 Oct to 22 Oct.

A 3 day bonus period for 10% of supply is a joke, a joke.

A 10% bonus fine but 10% of the entire supply is ridiculous, even more with the notice.

Just found the project and it looks neat. I like the BTC cap as-well and would normally consider investing.

I don't know how much you raised in the 3 days but it's probably around 100 BTC (complete guess) which would be like a 100%+ bonus.

It's for that reason I'm unlikely to invest. Not just due to the economics but the principles in which this was done.

If I remember correctly only about 9 BTC was invested in the first 3 days (not an exact number, maybe a little more, or a little less). 25.51 BTC is all of the investments up to now.

That is a question we would discuss with the persons who did back this project. If there is a case where a refund is better for the ecosystem and where a relaunch together with prerelease brings more interest to the community then we will follow the advice of our community.

I suppose the main reason I asked this (as a newbie somewhat in crypto development anyway) is that I understood that the initial crowdfund was for release to the developer team. Do the developers not have a specific funding target or minimum needed? Surely they have costs that need to be met. Is there no theoretical minimum for the project to succeed?

Or have I misunderstood this concept of funding completely? =)

I do see a few questions above on the possibility of relaunch or refund so I suppose that does partially answer the question of what happens if not enough is raised. But any other insight you can share is much appreciated.

Currently there has been collected nearly 25.5 BTC. Without good marketing achieving 1,333 BTC is nearly impossible. Marketing is everything today, people  at first put packaging before the content, sadly, but that is how the way world runs.

That is the spirit, desperation and oblivion can be put aside. The essence of every successful business is being persistent even if there is a lack of enthusiasm and positive feedback from your customer or business environment. The essence is believing in your work, your product, in longterm view.

It's the first I've heard of this project. Hearing it the first time I quite didn't understand the goal. Is it a texting like service, file transfer. etc. I'll recheck. But I'm saying is that if the ICO is failing it could be because the concept doesn't really jump out. It seems interesting, just not sure why.

I think that a relaunch without token selling for those who already invested is not a fair way to go with.

If the ICO don't meet the goal I assume a more fair way is to decrease it's goal and distribute only part of the token for initial supporters. Then you built your self a small community + nice amount of money to pay developers to continue their work for few more months + adding PR member to improve marketing. Then few weeks later (once development has progressed + community awareness is higher) make the actual ICO with the rest of the tokens.
This initial ICO should become an early adopters or a pre sale. That way you don't harm those who believed in you before others did, otherwise it is just greedy.

Funding situation is bad, far away from your big milestone, 1333 btc. Be realistic op, your project is not worth so much, you need more time to develop more features so people will invest you till you have real product.

We informed all supporters that we are temporary halting the crowdfund campaign. Each supporters can choose between refund or keeping funds in escrow plus bonus on ico-relaunch. The ico relaunch will take place on release of layer #4 token network. We changed the timeframe to 6 weeks total funding-campaign starting in november (this month). Bonus rewards are:
1 week   33% bonus
1 week   20% bonus
2 weeks 12% bonus
2 weeks regular

*early supporter from round #1 get additional 15% if they keep backup-amount in escrow.


We came to the conclusion that this step is the best for this project and its ecosystem and to proof technical competence on our side.

I fully understand your point. But to distribute 10% of total coin supply upon this small group of people and for the value of the funded amount brings no benefit to the project and marketsituation. We do of course respect the early supporter, who like you say, believed in us from the first moment. This people will get a special reward for this like I did explain in my previous answer to have a exclusive benefit.

The 10% of all tokens is no longer valid, we realized that it was a bad idea. So the early supporters get a 15% bonus if they remain in escrow. And it's NOT 15% of all tokens, just a bonus. In other words, people that join the new ICO in the first week gets 33% bonus. Early adopters that remain in escrow get 33 + 15 = 48% bonus.

Correct, round #1 was the first run. Everybody who invested before we made the update get the 48% bonus. The exact dates get set when we release the token-layer (like aforementioned: this month).

The ceal-tokens layer (n° 4 of 4) is finished. Blockchain is online. Now in preparation of the wallet applications and modification of the blockchain-explorer. Estimated to roll out wallets for public access in few days. ICO going to restart @ a later point of time to let some time for the users to get to know about this. The whole announcement is updated before release. Also a organizational/personnel change/shift will take place.

After a time delay, i hoping the team have a better plan. So the project and crowdsale will be successful

short update:
indeed very busy with lots of developments. ceal tokens layer is (with special thanks to jl777) already technical implemented in the assetchains of komodo. becoming a element of the supernet and supernet vision is probably the best thing what could happen to this project. not only the available expertise, resources and infrastructure but also the community and friends it offers makes is something very special. in term of ceal layers development i finished the biggest work for the ceal network layers end already end november/december then switched to full mode in komodo. we have a new prof. developer @ave who is accountable for core development of ceal and currently adding redesigned blockheader schematic to layer 1. he introduced in the slack and is very credible and talented. For additional information join our slack or PM me anytime. also the other team members (@kwest, @jamal and @ave) will be very happy to communicate with you.
for those who are waiting for bounty payouts, please allow ~2 weeks for providing a release wallet and ability to send/receive the tokens.

Yes right, it is integrated into our Iguana App and in addition @ave is building a wallet which will handle any assetchain in "single modus". This means you can launch wallet and choose which you want use. The wallet then will limit the procession to for example only CEAL tokens. This will give a native feeling for any chain you use.

yes - the website backend is made new. We set up the old one again for meanwhile. it will get automated payment processor with the relauch. and ceal blockchain has been online for quite some time. Download the agama wallet (supernet.org) if you want to test it. We will set up a test-faucet the coming days.

Absolute. So what has happened over the last time? -  As aformentioned some time ago, the layer 1 of ceal-network is already integrated and online. This milestone allow you to receive CEAL tokens through the Agama wallet. This layer builds upon the komodoplatform (which has zcash based monetary layer). Experiments and different test cases showed that the KV layer could overtake some work currently managed via the DHT/torrent layer. The plan was to use the existing rpc interface for kv actions and add a wrapper which would decide how to use the key and value storage in an optimized manner. And in addition this will only be experimental work. The usual 4 layer network is not far away from public testing. Updated roadmap, time plan and crowdfund announcement coming along. Our core-dev want to post this here on his own as credits go to him for outstanding work. More to come soon.

remember, ceal as part of the superNET ecosystem will give this project a very promising future.

i am adding a little update what is plan ref. plans of CEAL? As for the project i prefer to provide something that will really bring a benefit to the humans instead of
just hyping it and running just another ICO. 1. Due to recent investments and market movement i will gladly be able to announce that my participation in this project will be fully volunteer based. micro ICO funds will solely be used for the community, marketing and infrastructural enhancement as well as any external developers. On top of this it is going to be a very limited micro ICO or dICO and due to the high rise in btc value this will be adapted from the current numbers. It should never exceed 0.25 - 0.5 mio USD equiv. and will be set max ~33 BTC.

The new CEAL token distribution plan will be 50% for the ICO investors, 20% for the team and 30% for a Komodosnapshot distribution in exchange for all the benefits we get from the Komodo community and the Komodo Platform technological innovations like atomic swap capabilities, and much more. Especially all features being available at the launch. We also going to announce fulltime developer lead for CEALs future development.

those were just some of the undisclosed informations to clarify in which direction this is moving. I will put this together in a more precise and detailed update and inititate the token distribution and new ICO site relaunch before end of year. For those who are not aware yet. CEAL blockchain is aready online for many months, tokens are ready to be distributed to the users. We have two wallets which support CEAL. CEAL can be used with the barterDEX system and can be fully traded. And many other things! thank you for the patience.

Hello friends, Please notice in addition that due to ongoing developments on the komodo platform the detailed instructions for CEAL payout gonna be public in the coming months. If you want your CEAL payout now please contact me with a DM and add SebastianJu as recipient too - if you still have BTC in the investment pot you will get 100% of it back and your CEAL tokens that you would have bought will still be yours! As a sign of gratutide for your good willingness the current investment amount (~15 BTC) will be refunded to each investor. CEAL will be a 100% self-funded project for knowledge sharing - I do not want to build this vision/idea upon a ICO which would have financial interests for the participants and couldnt allow 100% objective development or pure tech-focus.
