Worth the benefit of the doubt

As if ASIC's are so common now that random assholes with no forum history have piles of them laying around to give away.  Sounds legit to me!

But what if they are not scamming the selected reviewers, just the punters? Costs them 20 x 50Gh kit, loadsa preorders. Take money and run? They might even think they can just rebadge BFL kit as their own (poor deluded fools, if they expect to get some by August).

Hey, why not think of some scenarios ourselves? Best one gets .... umm, "ScamFinder General" tag?

Regardless of the validity of their clams they're posting from an account with basically no history.  So, it's hard for anybody to take them seriously.  If they're the real deal it would behoove them get a mod to help them with this.

Everyone should check out the custom hardware section and read the posts concerning current ASIC development closely before opting in for any "free" ASIC miners.  This is about risky as sending cash to some troubled Nigerian prince.

He sold us the scam with the names collected, ready to go in exchange for forgiveness of some of the debt. We did not create this, I know its amateurish as fuck, hence why this guy owes us money, but now we're in control so things will change pretty fast.

I was looking at this computer, I can remember it clearly, it ran Windows 7, it ran chrome, it used 1680x1050 resolution, it had ssh open, but either no ssh service running or a whitelist in place. It also had RDP running with no whitelist,  disapointingly it is a newer version RDP that doesn't fall victim to the recent exploit. Oh and it was on a telus DSL home connection too, and sadly there were no "unscannable" proxies running on any ports, and I didn't hide my attempt to port scan too so the owner can check his logs and verify that I scanned every port 0 to 65535, each connection from a different IP.

Read my posts and you'll see. He swore that there was absolutely NO WAY that I had peoples IP. When I gave him his IP he first admitted it was his then started saying it was a proxy (which doesn't even matter because all the IP's we logged weren't proxies and were all in the same part of the world as the address), when I told him I already checked he said "I'm old so I'm smarter so my proxy in unscannable to you". I proved that wrong too in my last post, showing that I can scan perfectly on that machine and it's definitely not a proxy and is his IP. Not only that he claims to live in Alberta, the IP is in Alberta, and it isn't a server which is what you would expect a proxy to be on, and its in somebodies house.

To add to all this I told him some of his computers specs, he said that I could've got them from the tracking image which is true, I didn't in this case because the site I used didn't store the header.

I checked the logs of some websites that have been hacked or setup improperly and posted a google cache of one from weeks ago of someone visiting that website from that IP with the exact same spec.

Oh and I forgot to mention if you look at my nmap log above you'll see it fingerprinted the IP as a Windows machine too. Why does all of the data I'm getting cross-reference perfectly and all point to the same conclusion.

TL;DR -> the scam was utterly amateurish and failed, nobody paid. What a joke.

Amateurish, yeah I'll give you that. I never really got this one to be honest. I didn't make it so don't look at me.

We did eventually acquire some valuable information on a number of people from this scam and most people paid so far so I'm calling it a success regardless.

Oh and it's not over till the fat lady sings my friend. Don't worry everyone left will pay, I can assure you that.
