Title: Litecoin's future
Post by: windsee on October 28, 2017, 03:21:56 PM
Litecoin was regarded as silver to Bitcoin. However, its performance is much worse than Bitcoin.

What's your view on Litecoin's future? Will it catch up or continue to underperform?

If the trend continues it will continue to underperform. The litecoin/bitcoin chart demonstrates this. As for the litecoin/USD, litecoin will continue to appreciate, but not as fast as the bitcoin. If you want to invest in something, choose the bitcoin, its price will go up faster than the price of litecoin. Licoin was intended to be for the bitcoin as what is the cent for the dollar.

It will continue to be here but I think we must look out also for the new innovation that takes place on top of the cool old school coins like Lite Coin

Not alt anything that can chase bitcoin. But litecoin is nice and proven until now still exist and interest many users. Litecoin is also included in 10 popular coins and high trading volume.

It was said that
If BitCoin is called gold then litcoin will be silver. But I think not, I think ETH is silver, and I think ETH is higher than lithecoin
LiteCoin is one of the oldest electronic coins along with BitCoin,
But so far it has lagged behind because there are so many other currencies with outstanding technology and outstanding applications.

I bought some lite coin in February of this year (2017) for about $ 3, and I sold them at $ 50 last month, which is speed, breakthrough, strong growth. Of litecoin, I believe the litecin future will continue to grow

It depends on what you view as underperformance. Litecoin has gone from strength to strength in this last twelve months, in case you didn't notice! Remember how difficult it was for Bitcoin to break past $1000. Litecoin did almost reach $100 but it will definitely make a few more runs for it. Once that mark is broken, then $200 and $300 can only be a matter of time. Bright future for sure, maybe not as blinding as Bitcoin but we always knew that.

Litecoin has pumped some months ago... You can't expect to have pump every weeks, and if a coin pump regularly, it's always but a proof of stability.
Litecoin value is stable, and will probably continue to raise step by step. There is a difference between underperforming, and dumping... Litecoin is well at this moment, but it's not the coin that you need if you want to have a 300% return of investment...

I advise you not to buy in such a way that ico advertisers are advertising to increase their investment in ico so if you buy that will have a certain risk if you want to invest in any ico If you do not want to lose money, there are many people who invest in ico without knowing that the ico has failed and they have lost money.

Litecoin is one of the good projects available in the market right now as it is one of the most popular altcoins available in the market right now. It is popular because it's transactions are lightning quick as it is almost 4 times faster than Bitcoin. The fee charges in transactions is also very reasonable.
The project has alot of potential to grow and i am expecting it's price to be above 300$ within 2-3 years.

I think btc is more promising nowadays but I still believe ltc will grow about 4x from current price eventually. As now there are may icos and among them a lot of scammers, trust to a coin might become more and more important. As litecoin is the most trusted coin after btc, this may help it grow in popularity during hard times. Moreover, Charlie is working on the coin, so maybe he will eventually offer something new and amazing which will make ltc great.

certainly litecoin price grows in dollars but against BTC he underperform from the begining!

the reason is that litecoin is seen like a replica of BTC even he is faster and has low fees transactions!

Chinese effect on litecoin is very determining the price of it. So, if they take action against ltc, we can be the witness of a major dump on litecoin.

I don't see many things in ltc in the future. Trend could maintain like this.

This is one good coin in the altcoin market list and it sustain their value and name among the other altcoins and shows the good growth from the past one years. Now two months before many online wallets also provide the LTC wallet separately in the wallet list.
This is one of best coin if you wish to choose for trading, mining and even holding also works with this coin since price growth also decently moves up.

Lite Coin is a good coin according to my analyzation but the main problem is Ethereum coin also in the competition for the 2nd best coin after bitcoin that is why Litecoin is not growing much. And 2nd thing is that Lite Coin development team also bit slow. But I am sure in couple of year Lite Coin will also have a good market Capitalization.

Indeed Litecoin was regarded as silver in cryptocurrency but Litecoin has been stuck on its price for a long long time, it is much worse than bitcoin and much worse than many other coins I think Litecoin will not be the silver of cryptocurrencies in the future and it will not be the bronze even, there are much better coins like Vertcoin who deserve the place of Litecoin.
Vertcoin will be the healthy green silver coin of cryptocurrencies.

nobody knows what is going to be of Litecoin's future, anyway, i have 3 of them at the moment, it is not a huge amount but i am looking to sell them at $83 each one, i bought them at $35 so i made some profit from that.
but it is so quiet right now, i dont understand why it is only going down, and it goes up, it only makes a 1% increase, not more.
But it increased a lot, it was less than $5 at the beggining of the year.

only thing that makes btc and ltc valuable is you folks beliving and putting your money into it.

in truth its some sort of energywaste.

uncomfortable facts are beeing hidden.

bitcoin is defacto centralised, with its mining oligarchis and it has become defacto a fiat currency

bitcoin, bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold....in the future we will see bitcoin silver, bitcoin bronze bitcoin platinum with huge premines

will take a while till the last idiot gets it.

good luck with it.

Litecoin is a second one to bitcoin because litecoin is not fast unlike bitcoin. Bitcoin is more investment than litecoin that's why we chose the better and it is only a bitcoin. Bitcoin will also grow up faster its value. But Litecoin is also in a popular in alll coins and it is also interesting in many users. Litecoin value also get continue to increase especially to the next generation it's also good for the future.

Actually it got pumped way earlier than bitcoin so it's probably not fair to say that litecoin is just a crap coin.

They've still got a very good community and their leader is obviously a very prominent public figure in the bitcoin scene as well meaning that the value is not going to hit near zero any time soon right now.

However i wouldn't say that there's going to be much more pumps in the future either. It'll probably underperform.

Litecoin needs to catch up. In terms of marketing, Litecoin is already left on the sidelines. If this is a race, which it is in one way or another, Litecoin is now overtaken by so many new comers. But the thing that makes Litecoin dependable is that it is a coin that is backed by very solid supporters that are old timers in the crypto technology. Litecoin is still functioning and everybody can actually use it with much lower transaction fees.

This coin has a good future, it already exist for long period of time and it was treated as silver coin for bitcoin even if the progress is not to quick like bitcoin still this is very great coin for me. Also it is good altcoin to hold for long period of time because it has a potential to follow the step of bitcoin to be one of the best coin in crypto currency world. Also it has a good project that is why more investors continue to support this coin.

Yeah right, as you said above. I also feel that Litecoin is the best cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. I used to remember when I first got to know Bitcoin. At that time Litecoin was also exist with dogecoin. So I guess Litecoin is the best pick after Bitcoin. But the development of Litecoin is slower than Bitcoin, just as you say. I think it could be an opportunity in the middle of Bitcoin competition that is increasingly rampant.

Not just investors who will handle and support Litecoin. I think there will be many miners who will start focusing on Litecoin mining rather than Bitcoin. That's because Bitcoin mining is now very difficult.

In my opinion, litecoin is actually not underperforming today. If you look at its BTC equivalence, you might say it's underperforming, but take a look at its value in dollar. There was a point in July of 2017 where it reached an equivalent value of 0.021 BTC or $42.50 (BTC price by that time is $2000). Although the value of litecoin in terms of bitcoin has dropped from 0.021 BTC in July to 0.0095 BTC today, its value in US dollar has rised up from $42.50 in July to $54.00 today. That's because bitcoin price has rised up, which pulled up the value of litecoin in terms of US dollar.

For me, litecoin will still catch up in the near future, and will remain at top 5 best cryptocurrencies of all time.

But I wouldnt give up on litecoin, it already proved through the years that LTC is unbeatable. It's price is slowly but surely raising its value. And also if BTC will soon be exhausted people will find other alt coins and most probably LTC is the next choince. So I would keep my LTC :)

Litecoin has gotten pumped and right now is in the correction phase. So that is why right now it may seem like that it is underperforming. To me, litecoin is still the silver to bitcoin, not ethereum. It's just sentiments for old investors.

After this current dip i think the price will be driven up by the markets.

But how long this dip will last for i have no idea. Could be a whole year or more like last time.

In the absence of a hack - I think we will see somewhere between $12,500 - $15,000 per bitcoin.

With a hack of the protocol - it will fall close to zero - until a massive patch is put in place, and gradually rise from a zero base.

I think the protocol will evolve over time to overcome this risk but it is an important one worthy of consideration.

litecoin is one of the oldest coins that has been around. it kept the price up all these years and it even went up in value. that is not something small to ignore in an altcoin when you are talking about how good that said altcoin is.

speaking of ETH, you should not compare these two because ETH has a huge premine which they have been using to pump the price, spam advertise about it and generally to manipulate the market. and also there are are all these ICOs that keep coming out and keeping ETH price up despite all the dumps and bubble bursts. if ETH could keep its price up like this as long as LTC did then you can start comparing them.

ETH main purpose is not even of a currency coin yet, period. You should compare apple to apple and orange to orange.

LTC only advantage over BTC right now is just LN. LTC transaction speed and fee is more optimal as well but not heavily tested like BTC. But if the plan to integrate LTC and BTC goes through (being able to use LTC to pay for items priced in BTC as well), then LTC market movement might be shooting up faster than Monero.

Whilst growth long term probably won't be that big with litecoin since its original purpose of being an ASIC resistant altcoin has already been broken since the introduction of litecoin ASICs, and right now it's entirely community and founder based coin.

But there should still be a few more pumps left in the tank for Litecoin at least.

Short term, it will break 0.01 BTC again sooner or later. Long term, not as bullish as the others.

Cant quite understand why gimmicky ""new tech" premined rebranded coins/tokens get so much attention. LTC is THE BTC little brother and THE NO1 alternative to BTC (no need for any BTC forks). Been around since 2011. Huge network, Supported on many exchanges.
Prediction for 2018: 160$ at least. BAck to the 0.02 ratio   ,

speaking of ETH, you should not compare these two because ETH has a huge premine which they have been using to pump the price, spam advertise about it and generally to manipulate the market. and also there are are all these ICOs that keep coming out and keeping ETH price up despite all the dumps and bubble bursts. if ETH could keep its price up like this as long as LTC did then you can start comparing them.

True dat

LTC is also heavily concentrated in a few hands. But comparing ETH and LTC is appples/oranges thing. You can compare LTC to BTC though, currently LTC has LN but not nearly enough users and adoption to make good use of it.

Atomic swaps are a reality, but before that catches on
..a lot of things could happen

Now LTC just doesn't offer anything BTC doesn't do better, with exponentially larger users base and much wider adoption.

Saying LTC is silver to BTC gold is wishful thinking, as it is nothing of the like.

Litecoin was regarded as silver to Bitcoin. However, its performance is much worse than Bitcoin.

What's your view on Litecoin's future? Will it catch up or continue to underperform?

"its performance is much worse than bitcoin" i assume you are basing this on the
fact that Litecoin isnt valued at something like $5000  ::)

Litecoin in my opinion is a real safe bet for long term storage, the dev team are very
active and it is enjoying a nice sustainable rise in value at the moment after being
very stable for a number of weeks.

IMO its stability is not attractive to the "get rich quick" crew who relish the turmoil
of pump and dump's.

For me, litecoin will still catch up in the near future, and will remain at top 5 best cryptocurrencies of all time.
well let's hope that litecoin will be from one of the best cryptocurrencies in the future. well until now litecoin still in need, and even managed to compete with other cryptocurrency. so I think litecoin will get great attention in the future.
yes i may agree on it that litecoin could ever give a great for the near future , and even though we see how good it is how was the characteristic of this coin so i may agree that this coin will even more get rise up for more months lets just see what will be this coin rank on the 2018.

I think the most exciting part of Litecoins future Im aware of is atomic swaps. It is very evident that litecoin has been very succesful when it comes to cross-chain atomic swaps. Moreover, it appears there are some other developments in the world of Litecoin-enabled atomic swaps. Successful tests with Vertcoin and even Bitcoin show there is a very bright future ahead for this technology. Surprisingly enough, these transactions were completed in an on-chain fashion, rather than by settling things off-chain. There is still plenty of work to do in this regard, but there’s good reason to be excited about atomic swaps right now.

I believe Litecoin should be part of a well diversified crypto portfolio, in a smaller proportion than BTC or ETH. It is also big in terms of capitalization and development continues. It will have some moments where it will outshine all other coins. Not all of them rise (or fall) at the same time.

If bitcoin is gold and litecoin is silver, it seems litecoin is less suitable for silver because there is a better than LTC, which fits to silver is ETH because ETH has a better future than LTC. No one can pursue Bitcoin but who approaches Bitcoin is definitely there and who will approach it is ETH.

Litecoin is an alternative currency to bitcoin, this coins found by Charlie Lee. I have this altcoin in my wallet for how many months i do hold this because i know it is have a potential altcoin, this altcoin now are in most top 5 valuable altcoins in cryto market cap. Litecoin is preferred as silver of bitcoin which means if cent is smaller form of dollar then litecoin is same for the bitcoin.
And the way litecoin is going this is too slow to compared to bitcoin. But maybe litecoin will gear up and keep a stable increasing rate.

:D It is funny when people actually drop baseless comments like that and then you start asking yourself if there is something you have been missing. Litecoin has been in existence for a while now and there is still support for it and I wonder why someone would think there has been no development for the coin. Sure, it might be a clone of bitcoin and anyone can call it whatever they like, but that does not make it less relevant in the community. Whether it has a future, no one knows, but at least, so far so good, it is still there and doing good.

You have a point and no one obviously know what tomorrow holds for any of the Altcoins. Litecoin has been able to stay up for years and still on and I won't be surprised if it still keeps finding a way to thrive a little bit. However, unless we do not really want to be realistic, it will get pushed down the ladder in coming years as there are so much alts to focus on with great future than Litecoin. Does it have a future? No one really knows but time will tell.

That is how life is bro! When people see things bad, they say the worst, and when it starts being rosy, they start their praises. As far as I am concerned, LTC will always be in the shadow of BTC and there is nothing that would change that. It is more or less a replica probably meant to be the silver of bitcoin.

Of course, it has some reputations too and support, with not so huge of a growth but not bad and I would not say it does not have a future. At least, it has a future more than so many alts out there right now.

Okay! Now you just caught me a little off guard there! Litecoin is a great coin and so far that it has been in existence for a while now and still staying on top of its game totally shows that it is really doing well with a lot of support. I have some LTC as well and even if the growth has been slow, do not mean it is not going to be a useful coin in the ecosystem.

This is a perfect example of a bitcointalk forum post: some shilling matched with some ignorance. e.g. miners moving litecoin to bitcoin (you can't).

Don't take negative litecoin comments seriously here too if they mention another coin so enthusiastically they're shilling. Only neggers who give valid reasons and don't mention other coins I think have some weight.

My opinion: Litecoin is a great stable coin which started the GPU mining trend so deserves props, it is stagnating though and needs something to make it a talking point again. Their founder is really smart and I agree with most of what he says but he needs to make litecoin a focal point again, it needs some progression, coins can't stand still anymore, BTC Gold/Diamond are good examples of what happens when you don't progress fast enough in this day and age... whether they're good or not they're at least shiny new things.

Litecoin was regarded as silver to Bitcoin. However, its performance is much worse than Bitcoin.

What's your view on Litecoin's future? Will it catch up or continue to underperform?

As a newbie, this is my opinion on why Litecoin has not achieved the status as the silver to bitcoin. The problem with Litecoin is that the demand is not as great as Etherum because it's much difficult to fund and purchase than Etherum. Since Bitcoin and Etherum are the gold standard in being valued as the standard cyrptocurrency, most exchanges and wallets require the purchase of Bitcoin and Etherum first, in order to trade into the other altcoins and NOT Litecoin. Maybe it is the survival of the fittest and eventually only 1 or two of the altcoins will become the standard and thus leaving the third man out, and in this case Litecoin.

What I do like about Litecoin is that it it appears to be more legit and safe but if and when more major companies adopts Bitcoin or Etherum as the standard crypto coin, then Litecoin may fall to the wait side.

To counter the slow performance, Coinbase needs a faster deposit bank verification to accept deposits faster. It takes too long for deposits from your bank to Coinbase to settle. Therefore, the demand for Litecoin is subdued by the limitations of the deposit process.

I'm thinking about transferring my Litecoin to Etherum very soon to capture the strength of Etherum.

Litecoin hitting $1000 dollars would mean it would have a market cap of $50–60 billion. That is certainly achievable if BTC is already in the trillions. But like I told my insiders, I don’t see any future use case for Litecoin. Unlike Ethereum where it created a platform for others to develop on. Litecoin only has fast transactions and lower transaction costs. Other coins also have those features too.

I saw a prediction that said Litecoin will be worth $1000 in 3 years, you can think of that whatever you like but Litecoin does have some potential. Litecoin is always first to implement upgrades and updates before Bitcoin and lets not forget the cheaper tx fees and faster confirmation times as well.

Its performance so far it's still stuck and has not been able to show the price movements that really last longer at higher price throughout the history of its price development.
But did not rule out I think Litecoin could show long lasting price moves at higher price next time, and I still believe Litecoin can still provide for a long term profit opportunity. This coin includes a popular altcoin, its performance will definitely improving for the next (in 2018) I guess.

I can definitely see Litecoin see a bit more love in the next few months. Anything under 0.01 BTC per LTC should be a good buy and you could easily flip that amount and double it, selling at 0.02 BTC or even more.

Already seen a bit of a bounce back from 0.008 BTC low, so maybe right now we'll see a bit more positivity surrounding LTC prices.

Though, it is a bit hard for LTC to be "silver" to bitcoin, since there are 4 altcoins ahead of it. Long term, LTC is probably going to drop more, in relation to other cryptos.

Ltc keeps on growing in a gradual manner, so we have got lot of chances to double the investment that we make at the quoted price. As mentioned price less than 0.01btc is really a good price to make a buying and get profited in the short time period. Ltc over the past week has shown good growth.

Going forward, I think that LTC may have problems competing with other coins, especially bitcoin cash.  LTC does have faster blocks and blocks that aren't full, which are nice advantages over bitcoin, but BCH remedied some of those issues with larger blocks.  At least for a while, BCH will remain "shiny," while LTC is kind of old and "dull."  Before, LTC was superior to BTC for transactions, but now that we have BCH, why use LTC?

Over the past few months, Litetcoin has achieved significant results in the crypto-currency market. Theoretically, it can be assumed that in the future, developers, and after them - investors, will migrate to Litecoin, which in turn will lead to an increase in prices for this crypto currency. Today Litecoin is much easier to acquire than even a few months ago, when additional operations with bitcoin were required for this. The number of exchange machines that work with Litecoin has increased. The combination of all these factors suggests that the price of Litetcoin will grow and in the future this crypto currency will be able to occupy a niche next to Bitcoin and Etherum.

I agree. All the other coins that are above in Litecoin's rank are expensive including their transactions fees. Only time will tell when is Litecoin going to replace some of them. What made me curious is Litecoin seems like a part of Bitcoin Core as it serves as their testing ground. This maybe means that Litecoin will never replace Bitcoin even in long term.

As I see it, more people start to understand that Litecoin is almost a perfect currency. It is light, very fast, and safe. Also, due to the speed of LTC transactions more operations with this currency can be performed. Finally, during these days it is constantly growing. This crypto will be more popular in future.
Anyway there are good competitors like dash.

Litecoin is maybe old but it's a good altcoin. It can't be par with Bitcoin because Bitcoin is the father of all cryptocurrencies however it can be par with eth and other good altcoins too.

Currently Litecoin is rising together with Bitcoin and already cost around 100$, remind that Bitcoin started from the same positions and same temps of growth in the past. If to compare two coins, LTC really has weak promotion and in near future BTC can stay without competitors at all. Litecoin was counted as silver after Bitcoin, but it is loosing it's status with appearance of "Fork's" coins.

I myself wouldn't call Litecoin as silver to BTC any longer. However there is a use for LTC as a testcoin. For a long term investment it's an excellent choice in my opinion. The creator Charlie Lee spends about 95% of his time working on Bitcoin projects.  He claims “that in order for Litecoin to succeed, Bitcoin must first become adopted by the mass”.

I thing litecoin has a really bright future ahead as it is one of the most popular coins available in the market. It is known for its quick transaction speed as it is almost 4 times faster than Bitcoin. The coin has tremendous amount of potential to grow and you can expect it's price to cross the 300$ mark within 3 or so years for sure.

Well, litecoin surely is something that has failed tragically. And clearly is something that's on the verge of falling into an abyss just like dogecoin. Specially when compared to bitcoin. But I still see something great about litecoin. And i mean it. My gut tells me to invest. And this gut never failed me before. So i think im gonna throw some bills. I love this kind of gamble.

If you asked me such a question one year ago, i would have answered : "sure, litecoin has a bright future, much more advantages iver Bitcoin, segwit, crosschain transactions, cheaper transactions, faster etc."

But now... Litecoin has now many more competitors. the battle for litecoin was  LTC vs BTC.

now the battle is more like LTC vs (BTC+BCH+BTG+BTD...).

Litecoin simply can't fight so many competitors. and we have yet to see any other incoming forks. so basically LTC may end up like a drop of water in the ocean.

litecoin has an almost flawless functionnality. but that's it. the future is gonna be quite tough for LTC.

I think Litecoin has bright future. one of the oldest and solid coin in the history. Lightning network or segwit are the best feature of this coin backed up by a solid supporters. i love to see this coin to reach $1000 soon
Yea I Agree With You.

The digital currency rose to as much as $93.29, according to coinmarketcap.com.
The rally continued, Litecoin reached an all-time high today Nopember`17, breaking through the previous record set in September`17.

I will definitely hold on to my Litecoins.

Very promising future.  Testing ground for bitcoin tech, lightening network, fast transactions.

There are a lot of competitors but like bitcoin litecoin has an established record, large following, active development, and a place in coin history.

Personally I think it deserves top five, up there with Eth and Bitcoin and Dash and whatever.

Litecoin’s rally has been spurred on by renewed enthusiasm among Chinese traders.
Litecoin picked up important momentum after developer successfully tested Lightning transactions on the LTC network.

Because, Lightning developers move closer (deploying this technology onto the bitcoin network).

I don't think that Litecoin becoming worse. Litecoin is consistently belong to top 10 coin in all cryptocurrencies, it means that it have also potential to go further. Although there is no chance to be on top but still people are happy of it's current standing now.

Litecoin is based on a good technology and has very fast transactions but I have not seen many people using it nowadays.I personally do not see a very bright future for Litecoin ahead. I do not even think that people are trading litecoin like some other coins may be in the past Litecoin gained popularity even I had was a bit interested in Litecoin but slowly lost interest in it. Many say it can compete with Bitcoin, no it cant most probably the closest altcoin that can do it is Ethereum I think. If Litecoin starts getting used widely like Bitcoin and Ethereum then I would definitely add Litecoin to my best altcoin list.

Looking at the current rate it seems to me very fine. Recently invested into this coin and it started going up really fast. I think we should keep an close eye on this coin as the future seems to be having lot of development for it. This coin might take the place of ether soon and as we know the ether is already vacating it’s seat. ;-)

So you see where Im going with this speculation. There is always hope for one coin after another and you never know when you will hit the right spot. ;-) So crypto is the world where it asks for only one thing and that’s to keep investing and trusting the specific coin that you think will make it through the break through.

We should not underestimate any coin in the crypto world now after seeing what is the current status of all coins. Just look at the market and analyse it all by yourself then we learn that each and every coin is getting higher market caps even though bitcoin being pumped highest. I mean people are still investing into litecoin and making it brighter as we would have never thought of it earlier. Litecoin has started its approach towards greater stability and it must as to keep itself in the race to achieve that silver status. So I presume here litecoin will grow bigger in the time to come and 2018 years looks really bright for it.

Litecoin is not really performing like everyone expected it to be. They say it was second to silver, yes but the gap between bitcoin and litecoin is big but both have huge potential to rise in the upcoming years. Litecoins value is not really increasing fast but i can say it is stable unlike bitcoin which's growth became overwhelming. But i think it will not catch up to bitcoin anytime soon. It is not impossible but the chances are low. Nonetheless litecoin is a good coin to have.

I wish I had gotten into Litecoin a few months back, I was going to but went for bitcoin instead, don't regret my decision but wish I had some more money to invest, I can see Litecoin rising even further because of the low fees and fast transaction rates. I was actually thinking of trading some of my bitcoin over to litecoin but I know if I do so Bitcoin will skyrocket and I would have made more money holding the bitcoin than switching t Litecoin. But i think Litecoin will do really well int he coming years if they can't do something about Bitcoins high fees. Time will tell I suppose but I really think it is going to do really well.

Right now Litecoin is in the “sleeper” stage believe it or not, once the price reaches $1000 and everyone starts going crazy the price will only skyrocket from there.

That low fee and the speed of transaction really drove me to end up loving litecoin the more. In the long run, as most people have been speculating, this may end up being the coin that would end up being spendable, which would make it the most second adopted coin after bitcoin.

I cannot say if there would be any other coin that may want to pose some challenge, but one thing I know is that this is also an already established coin and I do not see what any other coin may want to bring to the table regarding spending, that Litecoin will not take the advantage of borrowing from it.

The establishment of a coin in the crypto space really means a lot and displacing such a coin can be pretty hard.

Even with the present upsurge that litecoin has been having in price after the whole period of rest for some time;
I would say the future is possible for this coin. It may end up being the extremely spendable coin in the long run anyway, while BTC may just remain an asset.

Nevertheless, the reason why so much people have really not given LTC huge look is because it is just in bitcoin's shadows and it is more like the silver of it.

Extremely possible and that would be something to look forward to. Year in year out, there is no way the crypto value does not increase.

As new investors keep stepping in, and then understanding some other cryptos that would be of huge prospect, they also divert some funds into it which makes it impossible for any coin with some prospect not to grow. Litecoin has been doing well right from the onset and I would gladly just keep holding some of it until I am just tired of holding.

What's your view on Litecoin's future? Will it catch up or continue to underperform?

Litecoin has been the silent little sister of bitcoin, always wandering under the shadow of its precursor. But as you can see, every disregarded little child will emerse one day to be great at some point in their lives. This is what i think litecoin will become in the future. Slowly and meekly its growing, and it will grow, may not be as great as bitcoin, but it will.

Bitcoin has dominated the world crptocurrency market since its origin. Following steps of bitcoin currency many currencies get introduced among them is Litecoin. Charlie Lee, a former google employee started it. It  has not shown any significant growth or movement until April this year. With rise in the price of bitcoin, Litecoin`s price started showing movements and today it has reached around $300. Though it has many good features, this crypto is always remaining in the shadow of bitcoin.

hi good day!

this is solely my Opinion and Observation about the Litecoin i might be right or i might be wrong.. it up to you to evaluate.

im not a fan of LTC but im holding some of it in my portfolio i got in LTC when it was
only $62 Dollars and still have it unto this very day, the price of LTC now is currently $305
im not having much of Litecoin but not Regret to have and hold it in span of 5 months already,
and im deciding now to still hold it for long term for i see that it will still grow in price and usage also around the global.

LTC is one of the Pioneer Coin on Crypto so in my perspective LTC has still a lot of potential
growth beside many altcoin out there.

and also LTC is much Faster , Cheaper more than BTC you might want to considered it long term as a key factor of a potential growth of LTC in the Market beside it is being use now Globally and
it's the only altcoin beside BTC on Some of the BTC Machine..

Litecoin is often compared to Bitcoin, and for good reason: both digital currencies are closely related. This currency has been heavily influenced by Bitcoin when it was developed in 2011.

Both have deflationary properties, with supply set to continue to taper (limited) up to several years into the future.

However, there is an important distinction separating the two coins. First, Litecoin has a lifetime cap of 84 million coins, which is four times higher than the total amount of Bitcoin that can be mined.

This means that as demand grows, there will be a larger LTC inventory to achieve, at least initially.

Litecoin has fast transactions, with the unconfirmed transactions piling up on BTC, people are using more and more litecoin as an alternative to perform transactions, this gives litecoin a boost during the busy hours of bitcoin transactions. And since there are lots of commercials and ideas are allready planned for litecoin in 2018, this also explains the current rise of it, people are buying it up like crazy.

Current growth is massive. Though it has a slow growth as a silver to bitcoin, its slowly picking up as like other crypto currencies. It had around $150 plus in last 5 days. Now that bitcoin is the king and over 16000$, fees are extremely up in price..so the way i see it litecoin will most probably be the bridge of crypto-transactions.. Being the number 2 coin as well, gives it a high chance of succeeding because many newbies will say why pay 200$ to get a cent of bitcoin, when i can get a whole litecoin  :P

I am a huge Litecoin supporter, always have been but I have to take the side of Charlie Lee on this. The value now is *not* expected. Yes, $150 was a target but it was one for NEXT year, not 2017. Now $200 and $300 has been reached, it has to correct because it has not even found the time to look for a floor. I guess now Litecoin will be very popular so the price will not stabilize for a while, but this does not mean we should forget how this was one coin with stability. And now suddenly volatile like Bitcoin. Time will tell, but I fear 2018 will never push higher than current ATH with speculators now entering the LTC game.

Litecoin has a great potential. Not a few people made a good profit at an increase in prices. Now discuss Litecoin futures on the exchange. And this gives a new impetus to development. This indicates confidence and that this is the top 3 in the top hierarchy of crypto currencies.

litecoin in the future is very good and can rise in price, very suitable and good for investment coins because in the short term this coin will definitely give a good price and high.

It did reached $200 today. I don't know why some people are too impatient and mentioned Litecoin under performing. Fundamentally Litecoin is solid. Even better than Bitcoin at this moment? ;D
Honestly, impatience is the reason why some people will not make good decisions in the crypto world. Although litecoin has been asleep for a while, but this little period has compensated and it just keeps correcting and growing after every correction.

I would not want to be too relaxed thinking this coin does not have a future and in fact, looking at the time it has been around, I would still trust it as a very good investment.

You cant blame Litecoin if people want to put their money into it and as such pushes the prices up.

Take all the positives when you can get them.

A correction may not be warranted and no one can control user interest beyond FUD or positive news.

It was one of the first forks off of Bitcoin and Mr Lee may have had the foresight to see the block / transactions issues well ahead of time and likely has.

I believe the price is organic and furthermore not unrealistic.

Time will tell.

Maybe someday litecoin be side by side with bitcoin but before that moment the ethereum pumping to the best to 2 after the bitcoin. but it still has a chance to flourish because of the mining litecoin easy, block his generation any more quickly than if litecoin 2.5 bitcoin min compared to 10 min for bitcoin, etc.

I think it will definitely catch up, due to the latest transaction REGULAR fees required for BTC and the time it takes for the transaction to be completed and if I remember correctly litecoin blocks are generating 4 times faster, than bitcoin blocks, so right now LTC might be useful for fast transactions. And even though its price has been undergoing spiral downward for the past week, still it has gone up in price by 10 times since May 2017, so I still believe LTC will be highly sought.

This is due to of the fact that, the attractionof Bitcoin is too big. The investors just take care Bitcoin and forget the Litecoin. Dont worry, It is still a good coin with a slow growth

Litecoin has been there for a long time and we have not seen the development and progress as compare to the time it is being given out there. ETH and other altcoin have developed more over the years. The litecoin is not bad but need some good marketing to make it IN in the market.

People do not take keen interest in number two. Number 3 is far away. All the people are investing mostly their money in number one crypto and that is bitcoin. That’s why the market cap of bitcoin and other crypto is very different. Low investment people are buying litecoin but I think it will take more time to become a very popular crypto in the world digital currency market. Wait for that time.

I'm a bit scared of litecoin since Charlie Lee said that if you cant survive a drop back to 20$ don't buy and he has sold his position in Litecoin. I'm staying away for now. Maybe I'm wrong but I think there are alts out there that can give you a bigger boom then LTC.

I agree. I am not saying that LTC is no good, however, as compared to Ethereum, Eth is still better and has more potential in terms of being an asset and in terms of price. However, I think that LTC has some good in it, especially for short term investments because it can be moved for a profit quite quicker compared to other altcoins that are in the higher tiers in terms of price point. Also, I have read many good stuff about LTC, specifically what its developers plan for it.

LiteCoin has a good future also together with Ethereum and to0p Altcoins. It's about time and maybe perhaps this year isn't the year for LiteCoin but I'm pretty sure that LiteCoin will be pumped in the future of maybe next year or in 2020. Litecoin for me is for long term investments.
Now, LiteCoin is really blowing up.

What's your view on Litecoin's future? Will it catch up or continue to underperform?

I think it is a good coin to make some investment for long term. It has reached good successes and prices in the near past, especially in the end of 2017, and if you check the current price, it looks very good and promising again.

Litecoin is very unstable in the market as its value sometimes rapidly increase and sometimes downs...u can save it for future...u can take risk... nobody knows the future...may be the value of lite coin increase to such extinct.

Exactly, we can't predict the future and for me litecoin is very great coin. Litecoin is one of the popular crypto currency here in cyber world that they can have a huge amount of profit once it will increase but ins some situation it will suddenly down that most of users make a panic selling. I still believe that litecoin will be increase as it can give great amount of profit in the future, to those users like me just hold as much a possible.
I also believe that Litecoin will increase and will soon reach the $ 1000 price because of the great potential of LTC and they have great development team and in the future LTC will have more new partners and this will help LTC has a large community and the demand of LTC will increase rapidly in 2018

At present I have not seen any progress of LTC and still do not have good news about them. It shows that it is blocking in place, they will lose the rank soon.
That is my feeling and NEO and ICX will fight for the position of LTC on the charts.
We should not invest in LTC anymore, focus on the more potential altcoins. That will give you a lot of profit.

Litecoin with LTC units will be Bitcoin's competitiveness in the future. This can be seen from the indicator of the total market capitalization development between the two crypto currencies. The fourth largest digital currency, Litecoin, has increased total market capitalization by 7.291% from a year earlier. This figure is clearly far beyond the increase in market capitalization Bitcoin which only rose by 1.731% over the last year.

Litecoin is really have potential to use in everyday use. It is fast and secure , you can't but a coffee with BTC but you can with LTC. LTC is my personal favourite because of its speed.
Litecoin has a faster block generation, another thing that may be corrected by litecoin from bitcoin currencies is related to the time of block generation. And litecoins have 2.5 minutes compared to 10 minutes for bitcoin.

I missed this price because I do not buy litecoin in that time but now, I make sure that I already buy litecoin although I cannot buy at a lower price, I am happy that I could buy litecoin in around $30-$50. I think litecoin could be higher than the price now and many people still waiting for litecoin to increase high. and now litecoin still at the cheap price and not too many people realize about this.

Bright future for sure, maybe not as blinding as Bitcoin but we always knew that.
indeed for Litecoin who had to experience this decline still has a very capable future to be relied upon. because with the current Litecoin continue to show this development can make the future of Litecoin much better than today.

Despite having many nice features, this crypto is always left in the shadow of bitcoin.

It probably won’t go very high. Why?

Because Litecoin is one of the worst 11 currencies to own within the Top 100, because it’s worse than Bitcoin and Bitcoin’s technology already has many flaws and will likely be replaced soon.

Litecoin is merely a copycat of Bitcoin that rose in market cap, because it was literally the only coin next to Bitcoin in the beginning and through that people thought it was legitimate.

However, Litecoin absolutely offers no innovation over Bitcoin and thus will not survive the upcoming consolidation of the market, or at least, it has the least chances of surviving it among the top 100 coins.

Litecoin has become Altcoin with the development of so increased this time. seeing his growing supporters make the price of Litecoin grow gradually. so very is able to rely on Litecoin as the next major coin. besides that, the current developments will be able to influence the future coin as the next major coin.

In the event that the pattern proceeds with it will keep on underperforming. The litecoin/bitcoin diagram shows this. Concerning the litecoin/USD, litecoin will keep on appreciating, however not as quick as the bitcoin. On the off chance that you need to put resources into something, pick the bitcoin, its cost will go up quicker than the cost of litecoin. Licoin was expected to be for the bitcoin as what is the penny for the dollar.

I see good future for Litecoin as its performing well compared to many other altcoins and its easily available to purchase via many popular exchanges. Litecoin does have a good statistics in the market and it is quite popular as well now a days which makes the demand to increase, that is the reason why it has a good potential aside from ethereum that is number one altcoin in the market.

Very soon the price will start to grow again. we are all know the future of Litecoin is very bright & attractive. So wait & see price will touch 200$ again within few months.

Litecoin was launched in the shadow of bitcoin, yet was inspired by the ‘King Coin’, particularly by its decentralized approach to currency.  one of the largest exchanges and the first to list Litecoin alongside bitcoin and Ethereum. Though many see Litecoin as a bitcoin clone, It is largely these differences that inform Litecoin’s price alongside the favorable image it maintains with traders and businesses alike.Litecoin may one day soon evolve into the truest form of cryptocurrency yet, and leave the others in the dust.

Litecoin does not have any development, it is morally obsolete and not a competitor to modern coins. The only thing that inspires hope is trading on Chinese exchanges, where simply huge volumes. there is nothing new in it. And it's just a coin, there are thousands like that already.

Litecoin (LTC) Looks increasingly promising. This year may not be the best for most Altcoins in terms of growth, but many partnerships, infrastructure development, and lists have become the center of attention. Much has happened behind the scenes and Litecoin (LTC) has taken the opportunity to open the door for higher adopters.
Litecoin, one of the most promising platforms in 2018 seems to be ready for institutional investors.
Litecoin futures will open LTC trade to more institutional investors. This will increase Litecoin liquidity and make it easier for people to enter and exit Litecoin.

Is it worth to believe in the future of Litecoin? Everyone makes the decision independently, however I want to draw my attention to the following facts: 1. Lightcoin is a fairly young crypto currency and every six months of the ecosystem development opens new opportunities for the project, 2. During 2017, the price of the coin has grown more than 25 times. 3. Centralized project management makes it much easier to react to sudden market fluctuations. In this case, I would not invest all finance in lightcoin. In the portfolio would not hold more than 15%.
