Key personnel
•   Andrew Lewin, David Steiner, Markus Kohn – all with extensive experience running funds at the biggest financial institutions

Interested?
Based on preliminary projections, the fund managers estimate ROI to be in the region of 50% annually. Thank you for your interest in Symmetry Fund! The website goes live in a couple of days. Whitepaper is being finalized and should be ready on the 30th. I want to emphasize that there are no discounts, no Pre-ICO or any other bonuses due to the structure of the fund. Price remains the same during the whole ICO period. Buyback option is available until we hit major exchanges. So no worries, you will have time to do your due diligence and invest in something unique!

We can't guarantee returns, however based on Symmetry scenarios and fund projection, the estimated annual ROI for SYMM investors is expected to be more than 50%. While it may sound very little
to current market performance, these are healthy and realistic numbers. We are going to have token-holders voting on fund trading strategy every 3-6 month. I invite you to read our whitepaper, once published!

Crypto-currencies have increased risks now in comparison with trading in fiat currencies. I think that the time of such an investment fund hasn’t come yet, so it won’t be able to show its best results.

You know the risks are great to that extent in which traders approach their mitigation when trading any currencies. This is worked out perfectly in SYMM, so investors have nothing to worry about, they will receive a stable income and enjoy life.

Well, in fact, quite easy). Weighted currencies and signals to each currency in the Symmetry investment portfolio (BTC, ETH, XRP, DASH and LTC) will be applied in order to mitigate risks.

I don’t see any transparency in this investment fund’s operating. If I were an investor, I’d like to take a full control over the operating of the investment fund and its quality. I think companies should think about it, otherwise they won’t attract enough investors.

Only experienced specialists work in the SYMM team and they perfectly understand that the transparency of the investment fund is very important for every investor even due to their own experience. That's why there will be self-certification held every day, and an external audit conducted by accounting firms once a month.

Current market conditions are perfect for a mixed fundamental-momentum investing strategy. As all our team is coming from traditional financial vehicles, the Quantitative Method will be employed. The team will use statistical analysis and models for forecasts, as well as analytic tools, such as time series modeling to tackle rapidly developing cryptocurrency markets and develop financial strategies based on algorithmic trading and statistical arbitrage.

All this information does exist and there’s more than enough of it. If you’re interested in the way the dividends will be paid off, ok, I’ll tell you – the will be paid with ETH via a smart contract. If you’re interested in periodicity - the payment of dividends will be made monthly on the third day of the month, if the fund has a profit.

Well, now I got it, thank you for your answers. By the way, how will the organizers of the fund calculate profits?

It’s easy: the value of the fund at the end of the previous month and the management fee are deducted from the value of the fund at the beginning of the current month. A half of the sum received will be spent on dividends.

Each shareholder of the fund must receive some dividends. I saw that there will be some in Symmetry, but there’s simply no information on how and at what frequency they will be paid off. The organizers of the fund chose not the best way to attract investors.

Yes, it will be fixed. It’s 7.5% for Class A shares and 15% for Class B shares. You should notice that the fund won’t charge management fees until 10% of funds collected during ICO and spent on operating expenses are paid to investors.

There won’t be any hard cap for the project ‘cause an unlimited number of coins has been issued. So the sale can’t be over before the scheduled time.

50% being compounded (reinvested) for the fund NAV to grow, better for all investors! It is however subject to tokenholders voting every 6 months. This number may decrease or increase.

All in all, it’s a very doubtful investment fund. Investors won’t be aware of what is happening. And if any global changes take place, they won’t even be able to influence them. That’s why I consider Symmetry to be a dubious direction for investing funds.

You shouldn’t doubt so much, because the operation of the fund will be as transparent as it is possible for each investor. I’ll tell you even more, the organizers of the fund will make no decision without the approval of investors!

The basis of transparency is the Symmetry voting system. Each action related to a change in the fund, a decrease or increase in the volume of trade and etc., will undergo an investors’ voting. This is what guarantees the maximum transparency of the fund's operation!

Of course, they can’t! After all, blockchain-technology will be a base of this system of voting, it excludes the possibility of hacking and changing the voting results.

Yes, it costs 0.1 ETH, but keep in mind that we don't have any discounts like other ICO's, due to NAV price protection and the price is in ETH, so you don't lose money if the exchange rate fluctuates. We do have similarity, however our biggest advantage is buyback option. You can cash out at anytime and the amount isn't fixed in dollars, but ETH, so you wouldn't lose ETH or Dollar equivalent.

All contracts are published in Github for you to review : The most important are - ICO Management (collecting funds etc), Dividend Manager (dividend distribution) and Voting Management (all future tokenholder voting)

Of course it is, otherwise trading doesn’t make any sense. As for Symmetry, they consider high volatility to be the maim risk in crypto-currency market, that’s why the means which are not used in trading will be converted to fiat money.

If the funds will be withdrawn for short periods of time, fiat means will remain on the exchange on order to ensure opportunity of their fast conversion to crypto-currencies and turning them back into trading. If the organizers decide to withdraw some part of money for a long time, they’ll be stored on bank accounts.

Hello!) It seems you had only a negative experience. Now SYMM uses blockchain technology to preserve anonymity and confidentiality. This is the main idea of managing the fund's risks in terms of transparency for shareholders and value!
Only blockchain itself? What about something else? More understandable for conservative investors)
The fund is created for shareholders and accepts any offers for further increase of transparency, building confidence and relations. The project’s team is constantly working on risk reduction strategies.
And is it planned to do anything with the crypto-currency itself in terms of preservation? I'm looking at rates and I’m a little worried about the sustainability of such companies))

The measures to reduce the risk of volatility are used in terms of these specifics of the market, when funds store means in currencies out of trading. And fiat currency will be stored on bank accounts. The platform uses for trading only known exchanges with confirmed liquidity reserves!

hitBTC is good, in my opinion. It has ICO section so more easy for trading after the ICO end.

Investment fund is a cool idea, of course, but what advantages will stakeholders have? Well, as far as I understand, investors just fund Symmetry in order to receive some dividends when the company wants to pay them off. I mean that payments are not guaranteed, too. All in all it’s a dubious fund.

Why do you call it dubious if you haven’t got acquainted with the description carefully enough? According to smart-contract, stakeholders will receive dividends monthly. The dividends will be paid in Eth.

Hi! On very good ones! If I am not mistaken, the company is going to spend 50% of its income on dividends. Every stakeholder will receive a sum regardless the number of tokens on his account.

The Symmetry Fund: Introducing a new dimension in cryptocurrency investing.

Background
Fund management company, SYMM, is launching a new cryptocurrency investment fund, offering a completely new type of commission structure to investors looking for a safe and easy way to invest in cryptocurrencies.
From November 30th, for 60 days (closes January 30th 2018), the Symmetry Fund (http://www.symmetry.fund) ICO offers investors the unique opportunity to gain a stake in a cryptocurrency fund offering a monthly dividend, as well as an easy cash-out option

What Makes The Symmetry Fund Different?
The fund’s capital will be split into two main components: 70% cryptocurrency trading and 20% ICO investments, with the remaining 10% forming a reserve fund. By diversifying the investment into a range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Lite Coin and Ripple, the Symmetry Fund offers a diversified portfolio for those looking for the safety of a traditional managed mutual fund, but with all the upside of the a lucrative cryptocurrency ICO.
Uniquely, the Symmetry fund pays monthly dividends equivalent to 50% of trading profits in ETH, yet investors can also avail of a buyback option and cash out by selling their SYMM tokens at market rates at any point.

Features and benefits
•   Full transparency on profits/losses and dividends, including daily reports to investors
•   External audits conducted monthly by ‘big four’ firm
•   10% reserve fund kept in flat currencies (US$/€) to mitigate risk
•   50% of profits distributed as a monthly dividend with the remainder re-invested
•   Level of dividend subject to a token holder vote every three months
•   Tokens will be offered initially at 0.1 ETH per share (payable in Ethereum)*
•   No limit on number of purchases throughout the ICO
•   Management fees charged only on profits at 7.5% (investments over 100 ETH) and 15% (investments under 100 ETH)
•   ERC20-compliant Smart Contract

Key personnel
•   Andrew Lewin, David Steiner, Markus Kohn – all with extensive experience running funds at the biggest financial institutions

Interested?
Based on preliminary projections, the fund managers estimate ROI to be in the region of 50% annually. To claim your stake in this unique and potentially highly lucrative ICO, visit www.symmetry.fund where you can also download our white paper with all the information you need to know about this exciting new way to invest in cryptocurrency.

*Please note that the Symmetry fund is not available to US investors4

*SYMM is postponing the ICO due to technical formalities until December 10th.

On ICO round 2 later, is the price remain same with ICO round 1? I think Symmetry could reach their hardcap before April since they have so much time to attract investor.

I hope that a hard cap can be assembled in no time! Perhaps this will be done before April! But even if in April, it will also be good :)

70% cryptocurrency trading and 20% ICO investments, with the remaining 10% forming a reserve fund.

this is not gonna end well.

dividends cannot be sustained with this model...they're just gambling your money away in hopes to make profits so they can payout dividends over time.

stay away.

Seems the soft cap is just requirements for this project to be runed. But then, at least Symmetry can collect as much fund as they can to improve their development and running this project smoothly.

Title: Symmetry fund - SCAM
Post by: rijnsent on January 26, 2018, 10:20:08 AM
Conclusion: I did like this ICO at first sight and felt inclined to invest. I did my due diligence and found so many red flags that I won't invest and earmark this ICO as a SCAM, one of the most convincing ones I've seen.

Let me give you a list of red flags that I've built up:
  • all linkedin team member profiles seem to be rather new, no recommendations present although the got "polished up" quite a bit over the past weeks
  • names of individuals show nothing when searching the with Google (apart from LinkedIn & their own site). So nobody has a social profile or any other coverage? That's weird for a team that claims so many years of finance & investment experience. The answer I got from Andrew in the Telegram group was: "We are coming from old fashioned, traditional financial institutions, most of us never had or have social profiles, we just don't use them. We avoid SM as much as possible. You can search for any recognized fund manager with German background and you won't find a thing. It's normal. You are welcome to join us in Dallas, TX on Feb 16-18, BTC/ETH Super conference to meet all of us.". Conveniently after round 1 of the ICO closes.
  • the one time they were supposed to show up, in Dubai (jan 9th 2018, Dubai International Blockchain Summit), but nobody was there. They claimed "we didn't pay on time", really?
  • if they really are fund managers/investors, they probably have Bloomberg for stock rates etc. Like linkedin, Bloomberg is searchable and no Andrew LEWIN shows up. When a friend asked Andrew about it, he got banned from the Telegram group.
  • other critical sounds are not welcome: two critical reddit posters got banned from the Telegram channel too
  • if the team has worked in Zurich (CH) in finances, there is a good chance they had to be registered (like a bankers oath), none of the team members show up: https://zh.chregister.ch/cr-portal/suche/suche.xhtml
  • website of symmetry itself is registered through a hosting/DNS lookup protecting construction (Domains by proxy), so is fully anonymous - https://www.whois.com/whois/symmetry.fund
  • if you look at the code of the website images, they don't have person names but e.g. advisor-2.jpg and team-1.jpg. That feels weird, most other sites I checked had more meaningful filenames like andrew_lewin.jpg etc. That is what this guy spotted too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2480514.msg28390839#msg28390839
  • I emailed Polaris Investors AG, the company of the advisor "Mike Henkel". Their quick reply was "We were not aware of the fact that apparently people are using our name on Linkedin. This guy seems to be a fake and does not work with us. Honestly, I would not touch an ICO where a guy claims to be an advisor if he uses firm names randomly". And I got a kind remark that they would short SYMM :).
  • though connections, EPAM's HR department stated there was no Vladimir Savochkin there
  • their source code in Github is available, but the person who made the first commit (almost all the code) is gone - no account there anymore, just a name: Waqas Khokhar  https://github.com/symmetryfund/symmetry/commits/master
  • Check on the Cayman Islands chamber of commerce for Symmetry Fund: no such company - http://web.caymanchamber.ky/directory/results.aspx?Keywords=symmetry+fund
  • I haven't seen a photo of the whole team together, which would make sense if it's just a collection of modified stockphotos. You wouldn't start a 4 million USD business without knowing each other, would you?
  • A friend talked to the lawyer Mykola on Skype. He is real and does consulting for Symmetry, even got paid for it. However: he never saw any papers and never met anybody in person, just gave advice. So again, nobody has seen Andrew & his team.
  • The fund meter shows 4000+ ETH collected, although only 900+ ETH show in the address where the ETH is sent to. They claim in their Telegram that the rest came in as BTC from early investors, but that's nowhere to be found.
  • Check the photo under this medium post: https://medium.com/@irfanmuhammadsyamsularief/investment-with-the-symmetry-fund-f5abafde425  -> all advisors have been changed. The full COSS team was there, now it's two/three people that can't be found in real life. From COSS I got back: "I am not an advisor of that ICO and I don't have any link to it."
  • The advisor named Leah Kronshage was removed from the English site. When asked about it on Telegram, Andrew stated: "he is an impersonator". Weird though, if you switch the language of their site to Korean, Leah is still there...

How many more red flags do you need?

My thoughts:
  • this is a SCAM, set up by a small core group
  • nobody has ever seen him/her/them/it in person and people asking questions about that are banned from the Telegram group.
  • They really know their business: they show in their website and in the Telegram group quite a bit of knowledge on the crypto world, so are convincing.
  • they did hire (and pay) some external parties to make the ICO look more legit, but none of those parties has ever met any of the ICO core team. Examples are Mykola and a guy I talked to that was paid to be a community manager.
  • they are getting better as they go, slowly improving their scam game, involving more external people and even paying those external people. That's a good business lesson: you have to spend money to make money.
  • They started slow, but as the ICO got picked up by some ICO rating sites and gave them more legitimacy. It's basically only self-confirmation: none of these sites really checked the team members or spoke to anybody in person.

So I'm sorry for the people who gave them their money, you can follow it through their smart contract on the ethereum blockchain:  https://etherscan.io/token/0xb54da0854f41396886eb728e0f8082382281f84a . They will probably kick me from the Telegram channel and try to remove this post, but hope I saved you some ETH.

You are welcome to join us in Dallas, TX on Feb 16-18, BTC/ETH Super conference to meet all of us.". Conveniently after round 1 of the ICO closes.
the one time they were supposed to show up, in Dubai (jan 9th 2018, Dubai International Blockchain Summit), but nobody was there. They claimed "we didn't pay on time", really?
if they really are fund managers/investors, they probably have Bloomberg for stock rates etc. Like linkedin, Bloomberg is searchable and no Andrew LEWIN shows up. When a friend asked Andrew about it, he got banned from the Telegram group.
other critical sounds are not welcome: two critical reddit posters got banned from the Telegram channel too
if the team has worked in Zurich (CH) in finances, there is a good chance they had to be registered (like a bankers oath), none of the team members show up: https://zh.chregister.ch/cr-portal/suche/suche.xhtml
website of symmetry itself is registered through a hosting/DNS lookup protecting construction (Domains by proxy), so is fully anonymous - https://www.whois.com/whois/symmetry.fund
if you look at the code of the website images, they don't have person names but e.g. advisor-2.jpg and team-1.jpg. That feels weird, most other sites I checked had more meaningful filenames like andrew_lewin.jpg etc. That is what this guy spotted too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2480514.msg28390839#msg28390839
I emailed Polaris Investors AG, the company of the advisor "Mike Henkel". Their quick reply was "We were not aware of the fact that apparently people are using our name on Linkedin. This guy seems to be a fake and does not work with us. Honestly, I would not touch an ICO where a guy claims to be an advisor if he uses firm names randomly". And I got a kind remark that they would short SYMM Smiley.
though connections, EPAM's HR department stated there was no Vladimir Savochkin there
their source code in Github is available, but the person who made the first commit (almost all the code) is gone - no account there anymore, just a name: Waqas Khokhar  https://github.com/symmetryfund/symmetry/commits/master
Check on the Cayman Islands chamber of commerce for Symmetry Fund: no such company - http://web.caymanchamber.ky/directory/results.aspx?Keywords=symmetry+fund
I haven't seen a photo of the whole team together, which would make sense if it's just a collection of modified stockphotos. You wouldn't start a 4 million USD business without knowing each other, would you?
A friend talked to the lawyer Mykola on Skype. He is real and does consulting for Symmetry, even got paid for it. However: he never saw any papers and never met anybody in person, just gave advice. So again, nobody has seen Andrew & his team.
The fund meter shows 4000+ ETH collected, although only 900+ ETH show in the address where the ETH is sent to. They claim in their Telegram that the rest came in as BTC from early investors, but that's nowhere to be found.

Seem a scary world in here already. There had been a lot of ICO turned scam already and this is just one. I have send some ETH to multibot ICO too which I was impress because they do have a working product already in beta version but they didn't list the token.

If this SYMM team got it succesfully, they may have to let us wait for nothing. This wouldn't be listed in any exchange too.

Look out... this is a scam!!

I was in close contact (telegram only)  with the team and they offered me a job as community manager ( I do this for other funds as well)  and was about to take it. ( they even paid my salary for the first month the day before it got exposed as scam  from this address  https://etherscan.io/address/0xbe308fb255a5740ff106b00042fe6c0c1d035444   0.5 eth and 3 symm )

I was also starting to investigate this and more ppl in my network did this.  Since the shit hits the fan after  the post from rijnsent  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2480514.msg28390839#msg28390839)  he got deleted and banned. They did this to all the ppl in chat who where critical, noticed that in the week before also. But after his post and ban, many ppl from my network started reposting it...  After a few hrs they stopped responding and banning... few hrs later entire chat channel was deleted

Andrew from symmytry has not responded or even read my messages from to me since jan 25th . Chat channel is deleted since yesterday, but the website is still running and you can still invest. STAY AWAY FROM THERE!!!!!

Still wondering how I almost invested in it... this scam took some preparation. Andrew and Vlad seems to know what they were talking about. Also hiring experienced outsiders like me to gain trust. I was amazed withing 3 minutes after they found out who I was... "Do you have experience modding the group ? We are hiring"  and within a hour a deal was made. I was about to start monday, but I do not want to be linked or connected or involved in this company

If I knew, yes... I did not know. Was looking for a new investment found this, joined chat, read a lot. Start asking questions. At that time it still seems legit. And when they offered me the job last Tuesday it was even more confirmation and trust building for me.  Simultaneous I did continue my digging and ppl in my network as well. Friday after the shit hits the fan. I tried to warn as many as I could even in symmetry telegram channel, not long after that the entire channel was deleted.  My post last night here was the first opportunity I had to post here. Still have no answers back from Andrew.

Pls folks stay out of this ico

Title: Re: Symmetry fund - SCAM
Post by: bootlegneurons on January 29, 2018, 03:14:04 AM
Hi all, are we sure this is a scam and not just FUD? There's a few things I find really weird, i.e.:
  • Official website's telegram link now directs to a group called "symmetryfund is a SCAM !!!!!" ... seriously? This makes me think it's a salty community manager who has either hacked or had control of the account and has had a falling out. Scammers are not batsh*t crazy and wouldn't advertise the fact that they're scammers.
  • Many of the points listed in the original post seem very nitpicky, i.e. registering a website using an anonymisation service is quite common. And the naming of jpegs? who cares?
  • The linked medium article now returns a page saying 'suspended'
  • I reached out to the organisers for the upcoming conferences mentioned on their site, and have so far had one reply confirming Vlad Savochkin as a speaker at Bitcoin Super Conference
  • The linked business search at http://web.caymanchamber.ky/directory/results.aspx?Keywords=symmetry+fund is for the Chamber of Commerce, and is a local business DIRECTORY. not a REGISTRY. I created a free account on the Cayman Islands General Registry (www.ciregistry.gov.ky (http://www.ciregistry.gov.ky)), and searched for "SYMM LTD" which is the entity mentioned in Symmetry Fund's Terms of Service (accessible through the website's footer). There is a result, but I can't get full details without paying $40 (someone else is more than welcome to though!)
  • Andrew Lewin DOES clearly exist - and he was previously registered under the UK's Financial Services Register (https://register.fca.org.uk/ShPo_IndividualDetailsPage?id=003b000000LVd4uAAD (https://register.fca.org.uk/ShPo_IndividualDetailsPage?id=003b000000LVd4uAAD)). However, he is marked as 'Inactive' - but that could just be explained by a geographic relocation

All that in mind though, I do find the total radio silence from Symmetry Fund on their other social media channels a bit disturbing - but perhaps these channels are all under the control of the same malicious actor?

Has anyone else done any further digging? I personally don't feel like there's enough evidence to conclusively call this as a scam either way yet. I feel like most of the original claims made by rjinsent can be refuted (or ignored) as above.

Very promising project in my opinion. I liked it right away because I read the description and what the dev team plans to do in the future. If it goes that way, then we are waiting for a profit project for early investors. And I wanted to know the maximum hardcap of the project?

Thanks to bootlegneurons to point out some of the weaker spots in my list of Big Red Flags, but it's still a SCAM. Let's assume for a second you're not part of this scammers team, in that case I'd like to thank you for help me improving my skills to find a next scam.
But let me, for the sake of it, point out some flaws in your counter arguments (I won't put a smiley face everywhere, but hope that the irony here is clear)

  • Official telegram -> "symmetryfund is a SCAM". I was kicked out of the channel, so can't confirm this. But what I did hear was that the admins left the group, so no salty community manager, just rats leaving a sinking ship.
  • nitpicking jpeg & anonymous website, who cares? -> I do, I've checked out various ICOs and none of them have this. They don't have to have a fully anonymous website because they are not scammers. It's just more red flags that there's something wrong.
  • Medium page suspended and can't find an image? -> check out internet archive or google cache, it's still there. Linking to the other flags, my guess is that the scammers control this account.
  • Vlad a speaker? A pity they don't mention him on their site: https://www.bitcoinsuperconference.com/speakers/ , I bet you all the SYMMs I have that I will get feedback from that conference that they don't know any Vlad Savochkin.
  • You totally got me on the Cayman Island registry vs Chamber of Commerce, I might consider striking it of my list and getting myself a free account next time. But then, you could have sent my this official paperwork too :) : http://loophole4all.com/?id_i=82395&id_e=63594&company=SYMM+LTD.
  • Andrew Lewin does exits... Thanks for the link to that Financial Services Register. Did you however expand the block at the bottom? That Andrew Lewin has worked for e.g. Royal Bank of Canada and Kleinsworth Benson bank. That is a 100% mismatch with the profile that the "Andrew Lewin" of Symmetry has given, it's a different person.

I could add some more flags, like the Ether that's being sent to the smart contact ending up in a known scammers account. And a community manager that was hired, paid and after that fired because of critical noises. But will save myself the trouble and will ask you what you would need to call this a SCAM, what is "enough evidence"?

What is the minimum investment?

To all here who still believe it is not a scam.  I suggest to wait after ico ended and buy it on the open market afterwards or wait for the second round to invest. You might pay a bit more for it if it turns out te be legit, but it saves you money if it is not.

i have nothing to do with Symmetry fund. i took over the Telegram channel to help prevent people from getting scammed.

Suspected that might be the case after I posted, so if a channel gets deleted anyone can register one with the same name?

thier ether account.
https://etherscan.io/address/0xbEadA3257BFf2d41eF6e563190e6624B57eAcc89

look where all the coins get transferred to they go through a few wallets but end up.

https://etherscan.io/address/0xb3aaaae47070264f3595c5032ee94b620a583a39

check the comments against this wallet.

Interesting, and valid point... although the comments suggest that address has been associated with phishing scams. I haven't contributed to the ICO myself, but is it possible that the contribution system has been compromised by a hacker?

Thanks to bootlegneurons to point out some of the weaker spots in my list of Big Red Flags, but it's still a SCAM. Let's assume for a second you're not part of this scammers team, in that case I'd like to thank you for help me improving my skills to find a next scam.
Definitely not part of the team - SYMM has just been on my radar and I was planning to invest because it looked promising. Just trying to do due diligence and clear up some points. We're on the same team.

Vlad a speaker? A pity they don't mention him on their site: https://www.bitcoinsuperconference.com/speakers/ , I bet you all the SYMMs I have that I will get feedback from that conference that they don't know any Vlad Savochkin.
Yeah, he's not listed, so I emailed them directly at organizer@bitcoinsuperconference.com to ask, and got a reply from a Richard Jacobs from Speakeasy Marketing confirming his attendance.

You totally got me on the Cayman Island registry vs Chamber of Commerce, I might consider striking it of my list and getting myself a free account next time. But then, you could have sent my this official paperwork too :) : http://loophole4all.com/?id_i=82395&id_e=63594&company=SYMM+LTD.
Haha... I think there's a slight difference with your site! But I see your point, it's probably easy enough to register a company if you're a scammer.

Andrew Lewin does exits... Thanks for the link to that Financial Services Register. Did you however expand the block at the bottom? That Andrew Lewin has worked for e.g. Royal Bank of Canada and Kleinsworth Benson bank. Good catch, thanks for pointing that out.

^ Very good idea. I'm sure a managed fund style of token isn't going to trade at much of a premium over its NAV.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Some good counter-arguments. The company/team directly involved could certainly be scammers, but I also wonder if they might be innocent and have been hacked somehow? It's certainly worrying that they haven't addressed these allegations directly and have shut down their communication channels instead of tackling the situation head-on or releasing a press statement though.

I think I will wait until it hits an exchange (if that ever happens).

the first ether to hit that account was transferred to that account so if it was it was right from the beginning 49 days ago. it was happening from the start. and you would pick up pretty quick if it had been stolen. if it was me i would be watching my wallet from the start.

i'm sure they are doing all sorts of nasty shit all over the internet why would you stop at one thing. this is why it makes it dodgy. if it only held the ether from symmetry fund then it wouldn't look bad.

you also noticed that they have gone dead on twitter. going from posting multiple times a day to nothing. they know the jig is up. the site is still up so people stupid enough to keep giving them ether will keep going into the account.

if only the telegram channel was hacked. Why not respond in any other ways to communicate, like twitter, medium channel, their own website, here. After the fud broke out, they did not try to counter the arguments against, they deleted the chat and stopped responding to other channels..... this is no hack

Very promising project in my opinion. I liked it right away because I read the description and what the dev team plans to do in the future. If it goes that way, then we are waiting for a profit project for early investors. And I wanted to know the maximum hardcap of the project?

Blind fool, you don't see here everyone saying it's scam and you still think this is a solid project? Looool this happens when you don't read.

The very fact that they are guaranteeing a positive ROI from trading should throw up many red flags. This is a scam and clearly will result in loss to anyone who buys into it.

From the website homepage:

"Unrivaled Returns

The SYMM fund uses proprietary analysis methods to provide returns to shareholders that are incomparable to investments with traditional funds."

If you enjoy giving up your ETH, go for it. You are better off gambling in "next generation blockchain ICOs" than trading funds.  Just by participating in the ICOs you are already doing what they claim they will do.

Also, beware all the people making comments like this:
This a long-term and promising project which is handled by professional team. Do you accept BTC?

I just checked three at random and noticed some peculiarities: identical merit, identical activity. Almost identical number of posts. Accounts all created within hours of each other. If you look at their recent posts you will see they are all commenting virtually the same thing on the same ICO threads, minutes apart:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1384493;sa=showPosts

I suspect that these accounts (and probably others) are associated with the scammers involved with Symmetry Fund... and any other ICO's that they mention in their post list I would be very wary of (Mobilink, Pecunio, GRON, Saifu, OKO, Setcoin, Lucyd, Freelancer, Styras, Chatello, Dogezer, AMP, HeavenCoin, and more... several posts are in russian so i can't read them all.

Cheers

How the dividends will be paid, everything will depend on the profit of the project for the month. In what proportion will payments in relation to the number of tokens that will be on my wallet? Anyone else who owns the token will receive it? Or just shareholders or those who bought tokens at ICO?

Actually I did further digging, and from just TWO pages of this ANN thread I found 19 users ALL commenting the same things, on the same 15 ICO's. By extrapolation, there could be HUNDREDS of fake accounts exploiting bitcointalk.org! This is huge. I've messaged the admin and I'm waiting for a response. The usernames in question are: Captain_Jack_Sparrow, recnapon, Mutanca, FranzyFox, macolde, Chermander, Captain_Killer, gastlator,  Varsity_Blues, Beahelm, Moto_angel, Anayajurus, Grinin, Ttexav, Glen Thompson, BearuBear, Tator, Monkey_Thinker... I encourage you to check their post histories yourselves if you don't believe me.

Also, a further update and another smoking gun! I was approached via Telegram by someone who wishes to remain anonymous. I will post sections of the transcript here:

Quote
I read your post on bitcointalk.org about symmetry fund (that it is a scam). I'm not registered on bitcointalk so I decided to write you here.

I checked people that you noted in your post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2480514.msg29199461#msg29199461 . I could read Russian so I can tell you that post in Russian were made in "life talks" (topics with subject like "What is your favorite sport", "Do you like soccer", "How to quit smoking" and etc). All these people have posts in the same topics. So in my opinion they were created by one person and post in Russian are needed only to create a more real look of these accounts.

I also wanted to say that symmetry github code is quite poor. Their dividends controller had newbie mistakes (and I suppose still have) and what is more interesting it just cant check if you bought tokens on round one or round two (it is important because these rounds was supposed to have different service fee).

I asked them to elaborate on the code issues:
Quote
The code I was talking about could be found here https://github.com/symmetryfund/symmetry/blob/master/DividendManager.sol

It is official symm github repository and Andrew gave link to it in a Telegram common chat. DividendManager.sol was supposed to handle dividends distribution. I'm a programmer so I could read programs code. And I was interested how they solve problem of determining token round (they have to check some how in witch round token was created and devide holder tokens into two groups with different service fee). So I opened DividendManager.sol and found nothing about it. The only thing that is checked by thier code (lines 37-61) is the amount of SYMM tokens. If it is less than 1000 then service fee is 15% if it is more than 1000 then service fee is 7.5% (lines 45-51). And line 48 was fixed. Now it is:

} else if (token.balanceOf(addr) >= 1000E6) {

but 8 days ago it was

} else if (token.balanceOf(addr) > 1000E6) {

So 8 days ago there was a newbie mistake: in case you have 1000 SYMM you won't get divident at all because of error in code (there was now dividends calculation for this case).

And I might be wrong but there could be an error with initializing dividends_before_commision and dividends_after_commision variables.

Anyway this could doesn't check when SYMM tokens were bought (doesn't check round). It just check the amount of SYMMs holded. And all this code looks like it was not tested. Now it seems that they published it just to look more legit.

TL;DR: There is no code to check which round of the ICO tokens were purchased in - dividend calculation is based purely on amount of tokens held.

I have some programming experience, and to me it looks like the dividends_before_commision and dividends_after_commision (besides being spelled incorrectly) are not being initialised properly - they are initialised in the 'if' part of an if/else statement (type declared as uint256) but not initialised in the 'else' block (only an assignation). Definitely agree that it looks like this code has not been tested at all and is probably just there for show.

Back to the topic of the fake/scam accounts for now, our anonymous friend also had this to say:
Quote
May be they were not created by symmetry scamers. It could be another team that handle all these bots and provide kind of advertisement services. I mean you pay them to get post on forum to make a better look of your project. With more post in a topic it may seemed that more people are interested in a project.
It is very common in Russian social media so I assume that someone just make same promotion business on bitcointalk and scamers just buy post from them.
Makes me think of all the reports of russian manipulation of the US election - we know it happens, is this just another example? I think that is likely.

So, to recap:
  • 1st smoking gun - funds being transferred from ICO wallet to scammer wallet
  • 2nd smoking gun - code containing basic errors, and not being able to calculate the dividend payout correctly as per symmetry fund's website
  • 3rd smoking gun - this ICO is either part of a coordinated group of scams run by a single group, or has engaged the services of social media manipulators to artificially promote and lend legitimacy to their ICO.

And or trying to hire legit people and services to increase trust in their legitimacy.

Yes, but notice how it is just a generic crypto article and not anything to do with SYMM? The twitter account is probably managed by the same manipulation business that they have hired. If they ARE active on twitter then why haven't they responded to any of these allegations instead of reposting meaningless drivel?

Good news, I've managed to have SYMM delisted from several ICO report pages. I'm currently working on having the main website taken down.

This is a scam ICO. go back to page 11 of this thread, and read from there until the end. The money is already gone, don't invest.

How is it that the official telegram channel of symmetry has been taken over, muted and promote this thread? Unless it has been hacked, why on earth the owner(s) of Symmetry would redirect everyone's attention to a post indicating that they run a scam?

Also, beware all the people making comments like this:
This a long-term and promising project which is handled by professional team. Do you accept BTC?

I just checked three at random and noticed some peculiarities: identical merit, identical activity. Almost identical number of posts. Accounts all created within hours of each other. If you look at their recent posts you will see they are all commenting virtually the same thing on the same ICO threads, minutes apart:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1384493;sa=showPosts
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1383858;sa=showPosts
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1384310;sa=showPosts

I suspect that these accounts (and probably others) are associated with the scammers involved with Symmetry Fund... and any other ICO's that they mention in their post list I would be very wary of (Mobilink, Pecunio, GRON, Saifu, OKO, Setcoin, Lucyd, Freelancer, Styras, Chatello, Dogezer, AMP, HeavenCoin, and more... several posts are in russian so i can't read them all.

Cheers

Nice find, but it proves nothing. It is just an easy trick to get posts behind your name and get some status on bitcointalk. Just post in every ico thread some basic meaningless questions.

I laugh a little every time someone like that so many of us find such people here just for the same purpose

Also If I recall well, there was over 700 members in the original Telegram channel... not 19 as of now...

The current channel was created on Monday January 29 (few days only) and been viewed by 127 persons only...

Can anyone shed some light?

I believe - but not 100% sure - that if a Telegram channel is deleted by its owners, then anyone else is free to register a channel with the same name. Read up a few pages, I raised this point and somebody here said that they created the channel to prevent further people falling victim.

Well that make sense. I also called Polaris Investment Advisory AG in Zurich and they confirmed that Mike Henkel is neither a partner in the firm or a known member in the Swiss financial advisory board. They also confirmed that they have denounced him to the appropriate jurisdiction.

So why don't we organize ourselves, try to find these bastards and make them pay?

Next time, before calling them, do read the posts... As I wrote in my initial post ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2480514.msg28957307#msg28957307 ):

  • I emailed Polaris Investors AG, the company of the advisor "Mike Henkel". Their quick reply was "We were not aware of the fact that apparently people are using our name on Linkedin. This guy seems to be a fake and does not work with us. Honestly, I would not touch an ICO where a guy claims to be an advisor if he uses firm names randomly". And I got a kind remark that they would short SYMM  :).
  • I can add to that: Tom Capital also mailed back to me that they don't know any Oliver Purr, so please don't call them ;).
  • Directly after I made my post I reached out to all the ICO review sites that had them on their site and luckily some of those sites responded quickly by at least adding a remark with their article.
  • In LinkedIn, I marked all team & advisor profiles as fake. Please do so too.
  • I sent a note to the moderator of this thread to change the title to "SCAM...", but unfortunately that's not allowed by the forum rules:
    From https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0):

A: Possible (or real, not for me to decide) scams are not moderated to prevent moderator abuse. If we start picking out which ones we call "scammers" and ban, we would make a lot of decisions based on biased opinions.

I do like the idea of finding these scammers, but they covered their asses pretty well. I got the suggestion that maybe Europol might be a good entry point, but they point you back to your national police ( https://www.europol.europa.eu/report-a-crime/report-cybercrime-online ).

It is not strange. They paid for advertising in external services in advance, before shit hit the fan. At this point, we can certainly say that the project has been abandoned and everything was fake just to scam investors. I assure you that from the beginning they didn't even think about paying anything bounty hunters at all.

I was aware of it too from day 1. They have posted their Bounty thread and research a bit of the website and gone shady about the backgrounds of the some of the photos out there. I saw some photos that was used by other ICOs too.

When I ask about why is it only and 360 symm, they cannot answer and said "talk to the bounty manager' and when I asked arteezy bout it he said talk to the team. And that's a redflag for me. 360 symmetry? Even in signature campaign for only 10 people cannot cover the payment but still they continue the bounty and later on after 2 weeks they have change it to 3600 symm. But still it won't be enough to pay people who are still entering campaign and they did't even have a limit.

We have no choice, we can only wait for news.. :( Unfortunately, all evidence says, that even if dev team come back, it will be very difficult to rebuild this project and investors trust..
You are right, it seems to me that the most important thing is that the trust of investors has already been lost. Already probably there is no sense to do something

It can not be said that there is nothing to do. I understand that everything is traceable and at some point the thieves have traced. To start with I got an announcement from:
https://icotracker.net/current

There are numerous ICO scam such as:
https://volk.fund/investments/#1505156951947-2906f627-2d86

There are about $ 4 million in the hands of maybe terrorist or criminal thieves who can hurt our backward society. Our obligation is to make a complaint. Is there someone who has started the initiative?

Guys! trying to get to the bottom of this story... and few thing doesn't match up....

How is it that the official telegram channel of symmetry has been taken over, muted and promote this thread? Unless it has been hacked, why on earth the owner(s) of Symmetry would redirect everyone's attention to a post indicating that they run a scam?

Also If I recall well, there was over 700 members in the original Telegram channel... not 19 as of now...

The current channel was created on Monday January 29 (few days only) and been viewed by 127 persons only...

Can anyone shed some light?
I, too, can not understand anything in this situation, everything is very strange and confusing. It would be nice if someone gave an explanation

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a scam. Even the manager said it was scam. Sad but it's the end.

It's sad, but there's nothing to be done about it. Once again, I am convinced that before taking part in any project, you must first study everything well

If you lost your invested money, you can do something about it: Go to your local police office and make a report. There is a very small chance to find these guys, e.g. finding the owners of the website etc...

It seems to me that all these actions will be meaningless. If you have invested a little money, then you do not even have to do something, but if you invested a large amount-then of course you need to take action

Yes, apparently you will not do anything anymore, there is not enough on the website owners that it can give, even if translations to the address of the contract, to find it, they also get it without any documents.

unfortunately, though zaizuchaysya if the project was conceived as fraud, it is difficult to determine it, because there are also not fools sitting, and they know. How to disguise.

Did anyone ever catch these scammers?

I don´t think so. In the Telegram channel no announcement about it. Or is there another channel active about Symmetry ?
