If you want to have a short return of investment then not invest on bitcoin. Bitcoin is so volatile that even it increase and decrease in second. Most people complains about their loss on the price drop, I got loss too, but you will be broke when you sell it on a low price. If  people would be patient to wait a bit more then all would be good. Who else make millions on just a week ? None. Im saying this not just to promote holding but also encourage all those crypto users be patient and be calm on the price drop. Youre still not loss until you sell it on low price. Hold it for a while, if you are weary and try investing on others like ICOs until you almost forget it and go back when it pumps again. Nobody know when would it be increased but it would. Be strong people.

Yes Bitcoin and Blockchain technology behind it still young and will be continue growing , so in the long term the price of Bitcoin  can be around $40,000 in the last in this year. But because the fluctuaction so high, for the better trade it to maximize the profit. More and more country will regulate Bitcoin and many financial institution also will interesting to invest in it, so the demand will increasing.

Yes, if they want faster profit then go to ICO's and not bitcoin.
They offer a big percentage for the early birds like 50 percent more for the first week of buying their coins.
Once they hit the target price when it is listed with exchanges then you already have a larger profit than any investor even those in bitcoin.
I bet there is a lot who have been doing this. Just be careful not to pick the token which is a scam. There is also a lot of them that is why they keep on banning ICO's

if we are talking about an investment,Bitcoin is a good investment.
no matter what time frame is it.
the fact is,people do not know how to manage their portfolio and blaming the investment itself because of their fault.
on the other hand,
people who has a lot of experience on trading and investment know how to manage their portfolio and creating an opportunity from this movement.
for example this newbies,
they're complained about their loss because of the crazy movement on Bitcoin,
the question is,did they do some research before investing their money on it ? or did they know about the fact that its price can change at anytime because it's very easy to get manipulated by people ?

Because most of the new investors think that investing Bitcoin or crypto is a shortcut to becoming rich in a quick time. If that doesn't happen then they will start complaining. But everyone should know that every there is a chance to become rich faster you can lose money also faster.


Many newbies in last bull run they never did their homework just because of the media hype they simply invested money and now they lost the money. But if they can wait or average down their price now then they may make a profit in the future.

It Depends to because if you hold your bitcoin in january or buy on january then you hold it for now you might get loss a big deal for now.

Nice post OP I can feel your sincere comment and not just to create new thread. Most of the people complaining on losses bitcoin are those day trader who are lack of knowledge on trading. Some people still don’t understand that to be able to become successful you need to become patient on the market movement. If you notice no long term holder ever complain in the price dip instead they are happy because they can cost average and grab the opportunity of lower price of BTC. Cryptocurrency works best in long term hold and graph history will prove that. If you react too quickly poor decisions might arise.

I disagree,bitcoin is best for both short and long term investment because of its price volatility.For example if you buy bitcoin today the price is about $8000 but in a day or so the price may hit $8500 or $12000 too so it is possible to make money in short term too.But in the long term investment you can get the real profits long term means more than years.

How about if you're the type of person that treats bitcoin like a currency and--God forbid--you don't hold, but spend it?  Bitcoinis a currency, right?  But either way, whether it's long ir short-term holding periods, any interest in bitcoin is a plus. 

Another thing: I'm not an economist, but high volatility doesn't seem to be appropriate for any argument for holding.  I'd think volatility would be more conductive to short-term trading.

Sometimes I used to call 6 months as long term already here in crypto. So 1 month or 2 is still short term. But anyway, bitcoin is a good investment and even holding it in few months will surely give you a good gain. I think bears should be exhausted sooner and the bulls will be back.

Yes Bitcoin does have very fluctuating characteristics, so for anyone who does not have good patience then Bitcoin is not the right choice. For people who can be patient then investing in Bitcoin can be a very choice. As it is today, the Bitcoin price trend is on the decline and it can make a tremendous panic. Yet if we can be calm and be patient can be a few days ahead Bitcoin prices will again increase, so this can not be predicted. But with calm then we can think carefully and see whether the situation will rise or not. A smart and experienced person will say that Bitcoin can bring us to extraordinary wealth. Yes, I agree that Bitcoin is for a lonf term investment. Many people, getting acquainted with bitcoin, start with the simplest strategy - to buy cheaper and sell more expensive. However, most of these "beginner" does not remain calm and breaks ahead of time. Therefore, they either lose money or earn a penny, while if they were more reasonable and patient, and would understand that bitcoin is a means of long-term investment, they could earn much more.

I don't think its for a long term investment. Why wait and hold for a long time when you can enjoy your returns now? Bitcoin doesn't have any stable growth and you will see that in just one day you have the ability to earn from your capital for more than 30%. Why wait? When you can sell it now and buy more later? Bitcoin being a unstable asset makes it more appealing for short term holders. There is no guarantee when you hold it in the long term that it will grow, it is not one of those buy and forget assets where you can expect to earn money after holding it for a long time.

Indeed BITCOIN isn't for people that doesn't have patience to begin with. The price can be frustrating it changes every time atleast every second or minute. The most risky coin on the planet is BITCOIN but at the same time can atleast double your investment well atleast though it could be tripled the size or quad of your orignal starting money. yes I agree bitcoin is for long term investment, we can not make profit in short time and bitcoin price increase is very slowly. if we want to get a lot of profit we must be patient especially in difficult times like now. in this condition the people fear if bitcoin price will continue to decrease then they sell their btc and lose their money, that's why we should be able to control our emotions so we do not panic selling.

Bitcoin is really unpredictable and it is really hard to predict when it increase so all you need to do is to wait until bitcoin goes up then its your time to sell it. It is so awful that after so many years of existence also people need to be explained about the bitcoin and its ultimate fate. I believe on you mate, which is bitcoin is not for short term because of its prices that always fluctuate time on time. So much better to hold it for long run and wait for the spike if you want to gain more profits on it. 'cause you might lose your profits if you sell on lose . You utterly are right. People, including me, need to be patient when they are holding bitcoin. But you know, most of them are in need of money. That is why they sell at a low price. It is not a matter of when to sell or they are clueless about when is the right time to sell.

It is just that when they are in need of money, they just sell whether at low or high price. The annoying part is that they complain afterwards. I do not complain. You should be responsible and live your life without any regret.

I agree, with the bitcoin price skyrocketing last year, it has gotten real popular and a lot of people who were using and holding bitcoin got a real good amount of money, the popularity of bitcoin brought with it many new people who are looking to become rich, who have no idea how the market work they just throw their money and as soon as the price goes down they start complaining about how bitcoin is bad and dead and they lost their money, cryptocurrency is a patience game, people haven't been able to make millions of it in a night, they waited and wait and they supported bitcoin when no one did and they have got the fruit of their labors, and if you don't have the patience to do like them than it is not the place for you.

There will be. If you got in early and thinking of long hold, its ok, nothing to be worried about. History Repeat It Self So, it can cross $20k again once we get rid of TO THE MOON every time. After tax season, we gonna charge back uptrend.

Yeah BTC is not for everyone i don't recommend BTC to newbies that invest only little on it cause that will leave you a scar or a taste of little experience in trading that may stuck or leave you no choice but to HOLD until you profit. As the OP says BITCOIN is for strong people that can take risks,if you're gonna risk it anyways then be ready  for the consequences.

bitcoin is BETTER for long term investment or maybe we can call it easier but it is not just for long term. you can trade it and make a good amount of profit daily, as day traders do. it depends on your strategy and most importantly depends on what you are most comfortable with. some people don't like day trading at all, but not liking or not being able to do it doesn't mean it can not be done.
and of course there is always the risk of this type of trading because of exchanges, some people don't like taking this type of risk.

Bitcoin is very volatile currency, so it is very risky for short-term investment. It is more likely that you have to suffer losses, if you day-trade. It would be more suitable for a longer period of time.

I agree with you. after the fall of the market my friend said that everything, the bubble burst and that now bitcoin will not recover from such a fall, but I believe that it will still rise in price so do not sell it

All indicators are saying that bitcoin won't reach 20K again. But yeah, ignore all facts, all charts, data and believe it will reach 20K again. Just to remind you that bitcoin is dropping since that 20K level from December. Or January. Whatever.

Long term will always be the best specially to those who don't have much time to see the market. Bitcoin is dumping but it doesn't mean it will not go up anymore, just wait for at least 3mos and bitcoin will surely on top again, almost coins are dumping this is a major correction but great coins will survive.

Actually bitcoin could also for short term, but the price is moved too fast and some beginners could not follow the movement, so it's better to think btc as long term investment, so there are no big pressure for the investors and from time to time the btc users keep on expanding and causing the price to go up, the investors just need to avoid hearing the FUD news and be patience

That's true mate, for me I never doubted bitcoin I am only sad now because the price will become lower and lower. Bitcoin can be alot of investment you can long term it which is the safest and the less riskiest but you can do is margin it which means you will trade it because that means you grow you xbt while also making money.

I don't think that people will invest Bitcoin for long terms as far as I known they will surely drew their plans against the price drop. This should be more than enough time for LN to be completely implemented, for better user interfaces to be created, for regulation to gain some track, and for adoption to start happening. Let's not forget about the halve in 2020, that normally boosts price up as well.

So yes, jut buy the coins, forget about them, and re-evaluate your investment in 2 years from now.

The people who made money with the investment in bitcoin made those when the price was really low,is it possible now to make that kind of profit,it is possible but not that easy like in the past because the price is over $7k and it is not that easy to get a huge amount of coins at this price to make a heavy profit like in the past.

of course, BTC is the best coin in the world and it is not suitable for short time. you can see, there are too many people sell in panic and they have loosen their coins

I invest in Bitcoin long term, but I can see times when you can justify selling. For example, if you bought earlier in 2017 and then saw the price make a huge gain to close to $20,000, you could have sold for a really good profit. Then you could have waited for the drop to buy back much cheaper. I think if you can time the big increases and corrections, there is room to make some decent profit short term.

It is not that easy to determine how long a rally will go and when we will see the correction ,last year it was an anomaly when it comes to bitcoin rally as the price was going up without any breaks and i expect the rally would stop at five thousand and sold my coins thinking to purchase at a later time ,i made many sell orders before that too expecting a correction but the price went up till twenty thousand,i am sure no one really thought that the price will touch those valuations in this short period.

OK, I totally agree with you, investing in bitcoin should be a long term investment, which will help us get big profits. But not everyone has the same mindset, many want to make huge profits in the shortest possible time, this is unlikely when the market is red as it is now, short-term investment do not invest in bitcoin. ANALYSIS BTC / USD DATE 19 MARCH 18/18/2018

I. WEEKLY ANALYSIS (W1)
1. Opening last week at $ 9525 and BTC slightly increasing to $ 9900 then dropping to the low at $ 7240 and quickly rebounding and closing the week at $ 8200 (data recorded on Bitfinex) .
2. Thus, looking at weekly candle we see the force bottom catching around $ 7200 is very large and the trading volume last week was quite high and closed red candle and no sign of reversing. Looking at the pulling force we also see that the purchase volume is quite strong but still not gaining the upper hand when closing red candles last week did not account for ½ body candles. This proves that the selling force is still very strong and the buying power is only a temporary bottom fishing.
3. Logic 1 green candle alternates 1 red candle on the W1 frame has been broken and is currently appearing two consecutive red candles.Therefore, we expect another logic appears and may happen cycles 3 candlesticks or 1 green candle 2 red candles. Therefore, this week if the increase then next week down and this week can fall always under these two logic. Therefore, if we consider the candle logic, the downward trend is not over. Looking a bit further on the Vol, every two trees drop sharply will appear a rising candle. Thus, in the second logical reasoning, if this week creates a green candle, it will be more logical than a red candle, and if this week's volatility is not strong with the candlestick increasing, next week will continue to decrease with logic 1 Blue candles 2 red candles.
4. The price is below the Bollinger Bands, the Bands are wishing to go down, the middle bands are moving sideways and the bands below are down, the down trend is not strong. However, when the sideways were broken when two red candles appeared, the Bollinger bands would approach the lower bands.
5. Considering the ichimoku of the W1 frame, we see that Senkou span A and Senkou Span B are hugging and the ability to cut down to form the future red cloud is very high. It has been a long time since the red cloud has formed on the W1 frame. After the Tenkan-sen cut down the first Kijun-sen, this time the red Kumo clusters formed. This is a bad signal for BTC. We continue to look further, Chikou span is lying on the shelf and the price in the cloud still support the rising trend of the BTC. Thus, following the cyclical decline of Tenkan-sen, the next week the possibility of Tenkan-sen no longer wished to go down but will pass, Kijun-sen in the coming weeks will go up. As such, the price will not be anchored around the Tenkan-sen anymore and the direction of the price up again. If we think about Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen, there is a price rivalry and the price will go in one direction so that the two lines return in the same direction. Therefore, the trend under the ichimoku is still the sideway.
The ADX is 26.6 and the DI is 21.5. The trend is still unclear and ADX is going down, so it is necessary for the strong ADX to go down below 20 and then back up to clamp with DI + or DI- then the price will go in a very strong direction. At this time, this indicator signals Sideway.
7. Stoch 2% K and% D cut down and have not fallen into oversold should Stoch is down pressure continues.
The MACD is declining and the histogram is rising. Therefore, no signal of MACD increased again.
9. Money flow MFI is 24. If this cash flow below 20 will appear bottom fishing force. Therefore, cash flow will continue to decrease because the MFI slope is quite good.

• CONCLUSION: Many indicators are signaling BTC on this time frame is Sideway. So, the trend is not clear but the longer time, the selling force will decrease.

II. DAILY ANALYSIS (D1)
Yesterday, the BTC opened at $ 7838 and dropped sharply to $ 7,740 and saw a very strong bottom fishing effort and closed up at $ 8200 (on the Bitfinex).
2. Thus, the trading volume is very large with the price increase strongly. This is usually the bottom end of the trend. It can be argued that because the candle creates a very strong leg, it can be said that it is a Hammer or Pinbar candle. If you add more red candles, you will see a strong buying power. However, looking at the candle today has not the shadow of the candle should be reduced to create the lower shadow before rising again.
3. Usually on the second day of week, the probability of BTC increases quite high. Looking at the previous candle line, there were also two times of reversal candles and all failed and March 11 and 15. But yesterday was different when candlesticks and trading volume appeared. big (this is the trick and threat from the past so no one would buy when repeating this case). Therefore, it is possible that BTC will continue to increase today.
4. Consider the Bollinger bands we see the bands under open, the bands between the slope are quite large and the bands on the horizontal. As such, Bollinger Bands are still declining. However, this area approached the lower bands and a reversal candle occurred, so the price could approach the Bollinger Bands' intermediate band before confirming the upward or falling back around $ 9500.
5. We continue to look at Ichimoku. So the future red cloud formed, Tenkan-sen lying under Kijun-sen plus Chikou span below

We know that bitcoin is good for longterm and for sure those people who already invested or bought bitcoin last few years ago are now haply because they can earn a lot of profit.  Because they bought bitcoin when the price is very cheap.  If you buy bitcoin now and hold it for few years for sure you will gain a lot of profit in the future.  You need to patient and for sure you will see the good result.

Bitcoin price increases and decreases very quickly, so it is not always suitable for short-term and day-trading. It would be more suitable and safe, if you invest for long-term.

Yes, there must have a plan.  For me I would rather have a plan so that my heardearned money will not come to waste.  I will hold 50% of it and the other 50%, I will invest.

That doesn't quite line up really well though. Day traders make profit from these daily fluctuations so if btc does just that, then it should be good for day trading. The thing is it's not. Significant btc movement often happen over a period of time so it's hard to day trade with it.

Bitcoin is both short term and long term because you can trade it and profitable but at the same time you can still hodl and and when you hodl it it's profitable but of course trading is more profitable than holding.

Well I think according to me day trading is  not advisable because it takes time and patience to increase in bitcoin price, for me there is nothing better than bitcoin now if you are well patient guy, you are saying day trading is good, then yes it is but only on the behalf of risk I think it is good to trade for long time no need to sell your bitcoin for some profit at the dump price, as according to my own experience I suggest you to trust and involve only long time trading.

We can see that the price of bitcoin in the past few days has been falling sharply for many consecutive days, and now there are signs of recovery after the G20 summit. I think bitcoin will really rise soon so then if we say long term investment, maybe it is not kind of a long term because bitcoin is said to be a high on volatility and it's price may rise and fall in a verry short period of time, that is why i believe that bitcoin can really give us a huge return if we are going to invest on it even in a short period or a long term investment. Thanks for explaining about this one. Generally, people who invested into bitcoin are the ones who are not knowledgeable about its nature and process. They just invested due to the media hyping bitcoin and providing a positive light to it. In reality, bitcoin's volatility is a normal occurrence and phenomenon, as its price may change from seconds.
Personally, investing into bitcoin whether for short/long-term depends on the financial status and need of an individual. The returns on the investment typically depend on its situation on the market, especially when you consider latest news and updates. I have seen people realize profits due to investing short-term but the situation is hypothetical and rare.

I think this is just a start of bitcoin era. All spheres, especially finance system transform to digital technologies. That's why bitcoin will be more powerful and develop as a payment tool and investment asset next 20 years. I am absolutely sure that Bitcoin is good long term investment with high rentability.

I have always considered bitcoin to be for long term investments because of the price that can be benefited from it. And although the price of bitcoin is dropping i have never doubted it, i know that after a few months of dropping it will just burst and rise again. The votality of bitcoin is another reason why i consider it for long term.

I dont agree. So years ago, i would agree with this statement. When bitcoin started first 9 yeas ago, it was a long term investment. And the people who hold their coins that long become now all rich. But nowadays, i would say bitcoin is much better for day trading. Because its almost so valuable, and i dont thinkt that it will rise the same times how it rises the last 9 years. Otherwise one bitcoin would be over a billion, and thats really unrealistic ;D

I don't agree. Just last month it was at the $7k price level while currently it is just below the $10k price level. I think all cryptos that have had general success in the past few years are long term investments.  If someone were to buy bitcoin, litecoin or eth a few years ago they would have made insane returns at the peaks but for some reason everytime a crash happens people say its the end of crypto.   What people need to realize is that when crypto experiences a recession period, it always come back stronger with higher prices.
