I agree! The project goes towards education and certification for learners. Companies will have the option of matching employment based on smart contracts. A new step for mankind. But for better efficiency, the platform must have a partnership with a large number of companies around the world. Specific ways to solve this problem?

Open Source University looks very interesting and I can see its relevance in this modern time. As a student myself I can see the value in being able to connect to the world’s best academic education as well as to professional development opportunities. When businesses are able to have access to a database of candidates with the right education or learning, skills, and experience that will certainly help with the costs that recruitment and training entails. That makes it easier and efficient for businesses to hire people who are right for the job. I hope the best for this project dev and to your team!

In our platform business have access to a global pool of talents, universities and education providers - global marketplace, learners could also benefit - they are provided with global opportunities for corporate learning and development on demand without scalability constraints. Therefore we do not have competitors in the real meaning of the word. A few projects out there have similar to our project but in most cases they provide either a local project or not a comprehensive solution.

Therefore the universities and the course providers will add educational content and it is going to be public, accessible form everywhere on Earth. Learners will practically have no limits for further development and education but different opportunities to choose from.

Thank you for this question! The good thing is that so far we do not have quite a lot of competitors. Most of the educational blockchain projects out there are either providing local solution or they do not engage all the three players - Academia, Businesses and Learners. We are using the application of blockchain in education in order to provide learners with the best ways to transfer their skills and achievements everywhere on Earth.

We'll have a MVP very soon and the first testers/representatives from different fields will help us with quality feedback. We have a good team of experts working on the massive adoption of the project and established good partnerships with leading companies and universities in order to have better opportunities for the project to succeed.

Open Source University as a platform is providing universities and course providers with a marketplace where they could add the educational programs. Every learner will have access to these courses and decide which one to apply for (in case it is free) or buy. Whether the course is paid or free depends on "the Certifier", that's why the system is decentralised. Open Source University is only the place they could collaborate - like "Amazon for Education", without the amazon. You have different "distributors" of education but it is your choice which one to go. It is not the Amazon the company that "writes the rules".

Therefore such kind of relationship between companies and learners could be only a matter of discussion between The Learners and The Businesses.

The amount of tokens to be sold on both private and public pre-sale before the main tokensale was 3700 ETH. This is occasionally labeled as a soft-cap on different listing platforms, considering that it is a target for the pre-sale. However, as we have always communicated, we do not have a set milestone of minimum ETH to be raised, because we are a dedicated R&D team of academicians and software developers that is executing this project for the good part of the last 3 years, with co-financing by the European Commission. We have a mix of financing instruments to back the project, therefore no real soft caps, but clear set of targets to achieve.

A promising project, even though I think it will be difficult to create a university from scratch. What about international students? Will they be able to pay for education in fiat and which languages does the university support?

We are not a University and the content in the platform is provided by MOOC's and Universities. Their courses and Programs could be online and traditional. What is more important is the easy transaction of achievements and skills - certifications and diplomas. OS.University helps learners claim and advance their academic and professional identity beyond borders by providing them a learning and development passport as a service on the immutable blockchain.

Our certified users are the Universities and the MOOC's - the institutions that provide those certificates. OS.University is not a Certification Authority. Therefore you could see your diplomas validated and verified by the University you've graduated and it is going to be accessible any time in the Open Source University platform.

Businesses on the other side will be able to see, upon request of course, your educational stored value and provide you with better career opportunities.

We deal with plagiarism and educational identity theft really easy. There are more than 5 reasons why we are using Blockchain to build Open Source University platform. Some of them are authenticity, decentralising trust, less bureaucracy, direct interaction, security.

But let's us first get back to the meaning of the word "plagiarism". A simple example would be the case of me having a diploma from Boston University and you pretending to be me and having the same paper, right? We solve this problem by providing certification rights to the Boston University which means that they are the only authority to validate and verify my diploma on the blockchain. Once the transaction for initiating a new diploma (meaning mine, as it is the first one in our example) is been processed on the Blockchain, this action can not be undone - that's what we call immutable storage. If you pretend to have the same diploma like mine, first you need to convince Boston University as certification authority that basically You are Me, and that's the first thing and even if you succeed they have to try to rewrite the document and release a second one - which is impossible thanks to the technology.

Talking about identity in general. That's not a thing we are working on. But if you mean educational identity then we have the same case as the plagiarism but this time we include all the skills and achievements of a person. In this case you have to convince everybody that You are ME and also to try to change the "blocks" in the blockchain which is practically impossible.

We already receive quite a lot of questions from contributors and not only, when and where we'll be listed. I agree with you that there are some who will wait for much higher value of the token after beta release but still there are some already interested to know what are our plans at least.

It could turn into a lot of things, that is what is good about the open source environment. If anyone is allowed one day to also build applications on top of this that would be interesting.

By mentioning open source, it would be strange if we do not have an open source environment where developers could contribute to the whole development.

Let me add something on that point as well, as it is indeed interesting. For an open source project to strive, it needs to launch its private alpha in the public space, so people can have a common ground to collaborate around (and build upon). As a believer in education I feel that OSU is definitely one to support. The opportunity to lower costs, remove third parties and utilise blockchain tech and really change things up within the education space. Excited to see where this project will go.

Yeah it's a fantastic achievement. They were also named within the top 10 social innovation ideas globally back in 2016. I think that's something people don't necessarily realise as well is that this is a well established project dating back to 2015 - this isn't a whirlwind ICO. I mean a lot of work has been done, strong team with academic supporters and a whole wealth of experience. Ticks all the boxes for me.

I didn't even realise that they were named in the top 10 of social innovation in 2016, this just adds more credit to an already very successful project.

I've seen some great review videos over the last few days and done quite a bit of research in preparation for the token sale going live earlier today.
It's one thing to create a project but it's another thing to solve a problem however I feel OSU is looking to do just that. This is the kind of positive and real-life impacting project which could help encourage mainstream adoption. I look forward to seeing new developments.

It's too small a budget on wings.ai. Currently, on average, the prediction involves about 40,000,000 wings tokens with a total value of about $15,000,000. Do you really think what community will spend its time researching your project for such a tiny reward?

I agree with you that the reward is too small. But on the other hand, according to my personal point of view - I understand the initial WINGS's idea and its basics in another way. It was supposed to be a community work of research, due diligence of the projects listed in order to outline the best ICOs and help other investors recognise them. Please correct me if I am wrong.

We all know that the community feedback is the most valuable in terms of validation the idea, vision, team and so on. And the reward was given to incentivise them to work more on that but it shouldn't be the only purpose for them to do it. What is the impression I remained with? Well, no one looked into our project, discuss it - just a few people were interested to read in order to prove their reward is included in the smart contract. Very few people discussed the idea behind our project. Even our Project lead was irritated (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1477055.msg36014768#msg36014768) when people started flagging our project the previous time... with the only reason - the reward may not have been given to the community! Our more than 3 years of work meant nothing - all the research that was performed, all the events we've attended, all the efforts we've put into were gone for seconds because of the reward of 3%... :)

Agreed. Partnerships are everything and the EU isn't exactly a minor player. It will be interesting to see who else they can bring on board, and how easy or difficult that will be. So many of these new businesses are great disruptors, and there is always resistance to anything that upsets the apple cart.

what I love about this project is that they are making access to the educational program a lot easier for many people and worldwide too so those that have trouble reaching certain educational facilities will not have the issue no more thanks to amount of content that will be accessible via the blockchain.

Universities are massively out of touch and half the time, the lecturers don't want to be there anymore than the students do  :D More and more people are looking at more time affordable and cost effective options to educate themselves to help them progress in their careers but of course validity and certification is a massive issue. Also where i am situated is a very bad location due to facilities available or transportation to certain areas. the only reason I am here is because this was the closest location to my accomadation. With this new project people will not have to worry themselves about where they go or how they will be able to get around (those are some of the reasons people dont move to higher education) everything they need will be accessible online from the comfort of their own home.

Education is a real investment. We all need it however not everyone has access to it for whatever the reason. I just love what OSU is trying to achieve. It will enable students irrespective of background to have a record of attainment and show potential employers that they don't necessarily have to have a degree or specific curriculum for x number of years in order to make them an ideal candidate. The impact could be HUGE.

Soft cap will do it, and I think they already reached that with private funding. Could be wrong though. I do know there was plenty of early interest in this one.

Aside from the impact this project could have on students themselves, OSUni are really paving the way a shake up in hiring and recruitment processes. The financial impact of getting recruitment wrong in businesses and organisations is HUGE, not to mention the waste of time, and for small businesses - these mistakes could very well be detrimental. Incorporating tech and transparency between businesses and potential candidates could very well change the way we do business and I can certainly see the benefits this will have, for all parties involved.

When you think about blockchain projects which could really help the World, this has got to be up there.  There is a huge opportunity for OSU to tackle so much ill in the World. Lack of Education and Skills for poorer people usually means a life of hardship. Wow, such a great project. Reading through, I saw something about EDU being in top 10 for social innovation. I can see why. This has such huge potential for society.

I am very familiar with this project however i have a question i am not entirely sure of the answer. So the platform that holds the uploaded courses, will they be subject to the peoples choice and preference or will there only be specific courses uploaded in which the people will have to choose from.

I am not entirely sure of the answer to that, hopefully one of the devs will reply but i remember seeing this on their website that might help your answer.
What courses will be available on the platform?
We’ll gather all courses and degrees which are already published on the e-learning platforms and all specific learning platforms launched by organizations and academies. On the platform we’ll store only the key parameters related to the learners experience like skills, grades etc.

This ICO is a great long term investment in my mind. I chatted to someone from Somalia a week or two ago, and he said that, whilst internet is not (generally) a problem in his home country, at least in the bigger towns, , the education system is terrible. So why study there if you can get everything you need online with Open Source University?

This is fantastic!! Can't fault these guys for their presence not just within the crypto community but within education too. I used to work in education, so the subject is one that's close to my heart. The project itself was a no brainer for me but I am very impressed with the team and what they're doing. I don´t think they are direct competitors in any means. Otherwise you have to keep in mind that it might get hard because you won´t need thousands of educational platforms with those above just naming a few. Just take a look at tutellus for example

How much money has been raised to carry on development ? I understand it is last day to invest but more important is to be aware of the current status of the project and ongoing fundraising as well. Hope I didn't miss anything in hurry because of shortage of time but it showed me total around 46 Ethereum were collected using contribution address, is that correct ?

From what I understand, they reached a good working soft-cap back in December or January with some pre-sales. I think maybe some private investment too. There is no danger of them not being able to run their business very successfully. Any more funds raised will just determine how fast they can roll out the whole system. However, I wouldn't be surprised if some big private money enters once they have proved themselves. I am positive this a very good long term investment.

Excited for more updates. OSUni is one of my fave projects I have come across this year, I have high hopes for the future.

A few days back someone mentioned that the EU is backing or in some kind cooperating with the project. If true that would be huge but since there is no big announcement about this I think it is nothing substantial

It is a real financial grant that backed us up and we had the opportunity to develop further.

One of the most important questions people are asking us now is about the value of the EDU token and its market price. A few days after the end of the OS.University token sale, our project lead Hristian explained the economic logic behind the value of a product in general and also the market price of the EDU token. if they have been listed, they managed to reach the softcap. i love this educational solutions on blockchain. classical education is going more and more obsolete.

This is a great project, open source is the way of the future. Remember when Encarta was the go to encyclopedia? No one thought Wikipedia, a free resource maintained by volunteers and input gained by the general public would overtake it.

Most of the time I would stick with those that have a long history and good trading volume. Depositing at newly founded exchanges is very risky. You never know if they close their doors over night.

Don't know about LAtoken exchange. I heard they had some problem a few days or weeks ago? Was it some security breach?

This idea has a promising future, because it will solve the problem of intermediaries in the financial market. This is very timely, especially in a blockchain space where there are no hard and fast rules. Follow the news.

Is their any update on listing on new exchanges? Since Ico end its not listed on any good exchange. The exchange it's listed on in the present time have no volume or even if I want to buy it I can't buy it because those exchanges are just shit exchanges. Are you guys thinking about exchange listing?

As far as I am aware, the current strategy is to encourage native adoption of the EDU token on the platform itself (www.dapp.os.university) - which means buying and exchanging tokens through the platform among its users instead of trading on external exchanges. At least until the token is not attractive enough for the top tier exchanges. So, the simple answer would be - hold and use your tokens on the DApp, at least in the short term, instead of looking into new listings.  ::)
