Title: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Husires on January 21, 2023, 03:29:00 PM Since the main topic is no longer active (Unstoppable Wallet (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5275658.0),) I decided to create this topic to encourage members to download this wallet, conduct discussions about it, and then build on it. It is recommended instead of closed-source and poorly programmed wallets, which are often the first choice for everyone who wants to download a multi-crypto wallet.

Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 22, 2023, 12:44:46 PM I downloaded and installed the wallet a few months ago to see what all the fuss was about.
I remember that it gives you a choice on the length of your seed. You can use any of the standard number or words from 12 to 24. There is a button to enable and disable TOR and seeds can be extended with passphrases. I didn't like that you can skip the seed backup step because lazy people can lose their money that way. And then they will blame Bitcoin, Unstoppable wallet, the world, and their mothers for making them the way they are. However, before you can generate a new BTC address to receive coins, the software asks you to backup your seed. I didn't check how this works exactly, but I am guessing the words will be displayed to you and you will have to prove you wrote them down by entering them back into the software. Some other things I noticed is long sync times with the servers. I only tried it with bitcoin and it took several minutes to sync. If I was using this as a multicurrency wallet with 5 or 10 different coins, where each new coin requires 5-10 mins of syncing, it becomes a problem for people with slow internet and old phones. The wallet doesn't support the same number of alts as closed-source clients. It can happen that the coin or token you want to use this wallet with isn't supported. The official website doesn't mention which assets are supported and it really should. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: DaveF on January 22, 2023, 01:28:16 PM I was trying to replace my current multicoin wallet with it a while ago and kept running into issues.
1) Some issues with adding alts: https://i.imgur.com/NjQPZgFl.png https://i.imgur.com/rHBeXg5l.png But it does not say what to use. Just that this one does not work. 2) If there is a way, I could not find it to have more then 1 account per coin. Might just be a Dave thing but I have BTC1 and BTC 2 and BTC 3 along with LTC 1 and LTC 2 and so on all on my phone. All small amounts since it's a hot wallet but it helps with the disaster I call accounting. (mining goes here, raffles go there, other sales go someplace else and so on) 3) As others have mentioned it can be slow. Not a bad wallet if it works for you, but since it did not work for me I passed. But in the little time I had it that is what I noticed. I just tried again when I saw this post and the screen shots for the can't add just came from now so it's still an issue. -Dave Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 22, 2023, 02:06:24 PM I was trying to replace my current multicoin wallet with it a while ago and kept running into issues. Which multicoin wallet are you currently using? Just for the record.Maybe Dogecoin isn't even supported yet. Someone asked if DOGE was supported by Unstoppable two years ago, and according to reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/UNSTOPPABLEWallet/comments/ms9lj3/dogecoin_wallet/) it wasn't at the time. And looking at your picture, I don't see a enable/disable switch next to DOGE. The same type of switch that is visible for DOLA, DORA, and the other alts there. I am using Coinomi [yes I know all the issues with it but at the moment even with the increase in crypto prices over the last week it has a whopping $202 in it] the time and effort and everything else to either use separate wallets for all the coins is just not worth it for the amounts involved in a hot insecure wallet. Because ANY wallet on a phone is hot and not at all secure. As for it not being supported, if that is the case then don't display the option to add it. I can see that being an issue as people try different things to see if they can get it to work before they give up and search for help so now they have created a bunch of wallets with a bunch of seeds for no reason. -Dave Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 22, 2023, 02:43:01 PM I am using Coinomi [yes I know all the issues with it but at the moment even with the increase in crypto prices over the last week it has a whopping $202 in it] the time and effort and everything else to either use separate wallets for all the coins is just not worth it for the amounts involved in a hot insecure wallet. The vulnerabilities with Coinomi only concerned the desktop version of the software. Allegedly, of course. No one can verify or check anything anyway. Assuming you mean the issue with seeds ending up on Google servers for spellchecking. As for it not being supported, if that is the case then don't display the option to add it. I was just guessing that could be the reason. Since you still have it installed on your phone, can you try with Tron or USDT over Tron? I tested that a few moths ago when I downloaded the wallet, but I don't remember if there was an error message like on your end or if I just couldn't find those assets listed.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: dkbit98 on January 22, 2023, 10:44:00 PM Please reply only after downloading and use that wallet. I download and used Unstoppable wallet for some time and it works fine for me.For someone who is not using bunch of shitcoins and likes privacy this is very good option for mobile wallet, but it can be improved in many areas and they should add list of supported coins. Not a bad wallet if it works for you, but since it did not work for me I passed. But in the little time I had it that is what I noticed. I just tried again when I saw this post and the screen shots for the can't add just came from now so it's still an issue. AtomicDEX.io might be one more alternative you can use for dogecoin, it also supports Bitcoin and other shitcoins, and you can even exchange coins if there is enough volume.I don't like that for Bitcoin they are still using old style addresses starting with 1, and wallet is still in beta phase, but it works fine. Probably best option for multicoin wallet is combination with some hardware wallets, but I saw other wallet called Stack also supports doge. I am using Coinomi Other than being closed source, I don't know last time Coinomi developers updated their desktop wallet, not sure if similar situation is with their mobile app.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: DaveF on January 23, 2023, 02:42:45 AM I was just guessing that could be the reason. There are a couple of options for multicoin wallets, each have their own good and bad things. Although I don't like them in general, for a few dollars of coins they work well enough. As I said, storing real amounts in a hot wallet is just asking for trouble. I tried atomicDEX.io it did work with no issues, didn't do something I needed, don't remember what. But no problems with it not working. Other than being closed source, I don't know last time Coinomi developers updated their desktop wallet, not sure if similar situation is with their mobile app. March of 2022. -Dave Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: libert19 on January 23, 2023, 06:30:19 AM Meh, I dislike it, been waiting 10 mins just for it to finish initial sync, why this wait when other wallets show the amounts almost instaneously?
I don't doubt that it's secure than closed-source wallets but you could learn few things from them. Look at this data usage, it's just Bitcoin and ethereum, from play store review I gather zcash sync takes 3 gb. https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/14/blobaf23782819ad2983.jpeg Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 23, 2023, 06:15:21 PM Look at this data usage, it's just Bitcoin and ethereum, from play store review I gather zcash sync takes 3 gb. The size of the apk file is about 70 MB. So if you use this wallet for a bunch of altcoins, you might soon run out of internal storage on your phone. Having to download 3 GB on my phone to work with just one asset is far from optimal. Especially if we consider how many regions still don't have quality and affordable mobile data tech. Zcash has a relatively big block size plus a block time of just over 1 minute. That could be the reason for the storage requirements. Still, Unstoppable Wallet isn't exactly a light client. Because I also tried to downloaded it at my moblie device, And when I checked the apps, the design and interface of the platform was definitely nice and cool. But the only thing problems in which I don't like for this apps is that it consume a lot space of my phone device which can cause to make slow of phone system, I don't know to others here who tried if they also notice what I had noticed. It's supported on coinomi too, you can check the usage in above screenshot. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: libert19 on January 24, 2023, 01:44:09 PM That's true. On the flip side you can easily, for BTC, have Coinomi use your own electrumx server instead of theirs. Everything is a bit of give and take. I will still, keep saying this although others might disagree. ANY wallet on your phone is neither secure or private. Unless you are using a custom Android build that shuts down all the phone home stuff. Since you can't do that at all with an iPhone, it's pointless to even think that anything you do on one cannot be monitored. -Dave Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: ABCbits on January 25, 2023, 09:57:41 AM That's true. True, although it comes down to how much privacy/security people want. I expect some people would be fine with VPN and SPV wallet. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: PrivacyG on January 25, 2023, 04:58:26 PM I probably have a not so relatable experience with you guys. Because many of you have a normal phone with default apps and download stuff through the default Google or Apple app store. But I will share my experience anyway
You can not imagine how thankful I am for Unstoppable Wallet developers doing their job. I can not be thankful enough for the existence of this application. I own a de Googled Android phone. My only app store is F-Droid, which only publishes fully Open Source applications. Yes. This means a LOT of the widely used applications can not be downloaded at all. Some applications replacing original apps for widely known services are very badly made. Twitter clients replacing the original app for example. Reddit clients too. But I already got used to it. Only few people care about Open Source stuff. So, most of it is Closed Source. So, this means you get shitty apps because nobody really develops them so it would overload the developers if they wanted to make everything neatly working with few to no bugs and glitches. You can imagine F Droid excludes over 99 percent of the Cryptocurrency Wallets for Android. Up until Unstoppable came to existence, this meant I could not use pretty much any Cryptocurrency besides Bitcoin (and even for Bitcoin, the available options were very lacking) from my phone. Then the Wallets available for Bitcoin were very lacking too. Annoying as fuck. Then Unstoppable Wallet came to existence. I used to reload the F-Droid repo every week and look for a new Wallet but never expected this coming. Unstoppable Wallet is like the Wallet I would have made if I were a Wallet developer. You get Open Source. You get Tor. You get multiple Cryptocurrencies. Sweet User Interface. Non Custodial. Even price tickers. TimeLock. Themes. Multiple base currencies. SWAPS! OH MY GOD! You can not comprehend how happy I am with it. I wish it just showed more TX information. Fee and Satoshi per vByte, number of Confirmations with a check mark instead of just a Confirmed / Unconfirmed status with no counting of Confirmations. Inputs, Outputs and maybe other stuff. Currently, the only way you can see more information is by going to a Block Explorer yourself which to me makes no sense if you are running Unstoppable through Tor and want Privacy. I do not know yet how the Tor works on it but if it does not change identity by default for every account and transaction checked, which I imagine is not how Tor works right now on the Wallet, then I wish they added this option. If the same identity is used for all accounts, it means all information can be connected to one identity. My experience with Unstoppable Wallet is mostly extremely positive. It lacks a few things here and there. But I see improvements every update. All the issues I had with it were solved within one to three updates. I didn't like that you can skip the seed backup step because lazy people can lose their money that way. I agree. I am typically not THAT lazy to not care about backing up my Seed Phrase but now that you mentioned it, it is definitely an issue. I still do not have my Seed Phrase backed up because I forget about it every time. I believe all Wallets should have mandatory Seed Backup before you get to use it. This is not only a preventive measure but also imposes a good education. When the user downloads a Wallet the second time, they should already know they need a piece of clear paper and a pen.- Regards, PrivacyG Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 25, 2023, 05:46:25 PM I own a de Googled Android phone. Twitter clients replacing the original app for example. Reddit clients too. But I already got used to it. Firefox is open-source. You could access your Twitter and Reddit accounts using Firefox without any app by just using the browser. But I am guessing your problem is with these platforms and not in the way you access them.I wish it just showed more TX information. Fee and Satoshi per vByte, number of Confirmations with a check mark instead of just a Confirmed / Unconfirmed status with no counting of Confirmations. Inputs, Outputs and maybe other stuff. Does the status of the transaction change to confirmed after the 1st block confirmation your transaction gets or does the app wait for 2, 3, or maybe more? Would be great if the numbers could be adjusted through the settings. At least then you would know the minimum number of confirmations the transaction has.Currently, the only way you can see more information is by going to a Block Explorer yourself which to me makes no sense if you are running Unstoppable through Tor and want Privacy. Use a blockchain explorer that works through TOR. I think blockchair does, but I am not sure.I agree. I remember they ask you to make a backup first, but since you have avoided it and still used your wallet for transactions, they obviously don't ask you to reenter the words as proof they are backed up.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: dkbit98 on January 25, 2023, 10:16:48 PM I own a de Googled Android phone. Then the Wallets available for Bitcoin were very lacking too. Annoying as fuck. It's important to mention that Unstoppable wallet is audited several times, and WalletScrutiny verified it can be reproduced from open source code. Good thing is that I see new wallets are coming out that following similar path, and competition is always good to have. For example. I just opened up F-Droid and searched for Cryptocurrency Wallets. The results are as following,Unstoppable Wallet (updated within last month) (supports multiple Cryptocurrencies) Bitcoin Wallet (updated a month ago) (only for Bitcoin) Green Blockstream Wallet (updated almost 6 months ago) (multiple Cryptocurrencies) These are all the options I have. There are a few more but I would not touch a Wallet that has last been updated more than half an year ago. IzzyOnDroid and Droid-ify, I have no idea about. Will have to check them out.I don't know what degoogled phone you own, but Pixels with GrapheneOS work almost with everything, they even have imitation of all google services. The issue is not about having or not having GS or replacements for the Services installed. It is that Open Source is not a very demanded type of software today. So if I want an actually good Wallet, I have little options. How many actually useful and good Open Source Bitcoin Wallets are there? Outside of that if you are really concerned about privacy and security you are probably better pulling the APK from developers site, checksuming it and verifying the signatures and installing it, or going one step past there compiling it yourself. And, obviously as others have said they are missing a lot of wallets that are open source (electrum) Until they get some of the more popular alts added, and make some other changes, I don't think they are going to gain much traction. -Dave Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: libert19 on January 26, 2023, 02:19:24 PM Some applications replacing original apps for widely known services are very badly made. After doing a bit of reading I came up with a few questions, but the most critical pertains to this claim:
~Features:
The claim makes it sound like you don't need to connect to a server, but how could that be possible? How do you transact with a blockchain without connecting to a server or a full node? My admittedly limited knowledge gives me the impression that, technically speaking that is not possible. Certainly no one is running full nodes for each coin on their mobile device. That would be impractical. Then I got to thinking about the semantics of the claim, and that made me a bit suspicious: "There are no servers keeping user accounts or any kind of identifiers." So a server does exist, but it doesn't log sensitive information? If so, who's running the server, Horizontal Systems? Doesn't that make it centralized? If Horizontal Systems is running the server software, is it available for peer review? Can I run a server myself? I don't see a server package listed in Horizontal Systems' GitHub, maybe I just didn't look hard enough. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 26, 2023, 05:34:18 PM I believe the confirmation status changes to Confirmed after the third block confirmation. Does this mean I have already done the Backup someday? Now I am so confused! When did you first install and create your wallet? I played around with Unstoppable back in November/December. Seed backup was needed back then. Maybe you worked with an older version where they didn't have that requirement yet.~Features:

Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: DireWolfM14 on January 26, 2023, 07:34:06 PM Despite the wallet's open-source nature, this is not something you can check. I don't think you can. Their servers may or may not be logging everything you do. I wonder how they could prove that isn't the case ??? I see that the wallet is open source, but why isn't the server software available for review, regardless of it's licensing? Again, I may have missed it while I perusing their GitHub, but I dug fairly deep and didn't see anything relating the SPV server they use to connect wallets to nodes. Claims of "genuine privacy" and "decentralized" that are not only unsubstantiated, but also used in ways that come off as deceptive makes me nervous. This is the kind of stuff that breeds distrust in the cryptosphere. I want to apologies to Husires for not following his local rule; i.e. I did not download, install, or use the wallet app, and I will not until my concerns about these claims are addressed. Honestly, I'm growing more suspicious of this service, and the pretty website and polished-looking app isn't helping. It means this wallet connect to random node to obtain necessary data[2-3]. But BIP 37 is outdated and has privacy flaws[4]. Isn't that just the price you pay for privacy? I once checked a years-old backup of Bitcoin Wallet (on my old phone), and it took days to sync. I'm not sure how it works, but if this means they wallet's server doesn't know my addresses, it's worth the wait.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Kryptowerk on May 13, 2023, 10:22:42 AM This sounds intriguing - will check it out.
Any more user experience reports since last post from January? I tried to find a list of supported shit-coins and tokens, but their website doesn't seem to give away much. Their FAQ seems to only talk about Bitcoin, Ethereum and Binance-Chain. In the video I also see Solana, Polygon Dash and a few more, though. I really don't understand their logic unless there was a lot more planned to happen faster and then it just didn't happen. But a definitive list, or at least a list with a date of making the list and supported coins at that time would be nice. I tried it a while ago, and it didn't work for me, tried back in January when I posted and again did not have support for some crap coins I use and I just took a look now and still does not support some basic ones. May check back sooner or later, but if they don't want to bother supporting some popular alts, as I said above it's going to really slow down the adoption of their app as people look for something that does. -Dave Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on May 13, 2023, 12:16:06 PM I tried to find a list of supported shit-coins and tokens, but their website doesn't seem to give away much. Yeah, the website is quite useless for that purpose. I see that they added a timeline on the top. Maybe you can follow it into the past to check the release notes to see if they mention which alts they included. They don't have a contact form, live chat or a support ticket. You might find more info on their Discord (https://discord.gg/3uECHQ3cEk)or reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/UNSTOPPABLEWallet/)channels.Their FAQ seems to only talk about Bitcoin, Ethereum and Binance-Chain. Are there any multi-coin open source wallets that are actually running stable with a big support for many coins? A nice desktop solution would also be interesting. It provides good things when it comes to users who also use it.
As in affordability, security, censorship resistance and privacy too. So this unstoppable wallet is okay with me and one of the great options as well. I am not saying tha there is any issue with trust wallet but it's hard to trust 100% on trust wallet 1) because it is closed source and 2) It is owned by Binance and i don't feel comfortable with it. Previously I was using Trust Wallet for altcoins storage but now i have migrated the majority of my coins from trust wallet to unstoppable wallet. In case, you can afford a hardware wallet, that's best but until you do not have hardware wallet, keep Unstoppable Wallet as your daily driver. For Tron exchange support is not yet integrated, but exchanges for other tokens on several networks such as ERC20, BEP20, POLYGON, ARBITRUM, OPTIMISM etc. are already available integrations with DEX 1Inch, Uniswap, Pancakeswap etc. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/07/23/nPjff.jpeg and in the future, Unstoppable Swallow will also complete integration with DEX Thorchain which allows for decentralized exchange between asset types such as BTC, ETH, LTC, ZEC, BCH, BNB, ERC20, and BEP20. It seems that there will be many updates in the future, perhaps the addition of BRIDGE will be needed as well. Send your request to the developers to integrate the DEX Exchange for Tron assets, the more requests, the faster it will be integrated. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/07/23/nPVQD.png Source: https://unstoppable.money/faq Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: AprilioMP on July 28, 2023, 04:48:38 PM Please reply only after downloading and use that wallet. I have installed the wallet, I have backed up the required 12 words with passphrase. I still haven't mastered the total knowledge of wallets. So, if later there are problems in use, I will definitely get a solution easily, considering that many people who recommend this wallet have every question about mobile wallets. Open source, Non-custodial, Private, and support for many coins are the reasons I chose this wallet including available charts to analyze the market. What I noticed about Unstoppable wallet is that it has tokens (coin existing on another coin blockchain) or those coins that are pegged. The doge it has is on BSC, not on doge blockchain. Some altcoins that are on the wallet are shitcoins. Not supporting Algorand, Quantum and many other coins and it is supporting just the peg of some coins, or supporting tokens. - You can now get support using Telegram. - You can link your Binance account (read-only mode) to keep track of your balances (basically something like CoinStat, Delta, etc.). And you can also now donate to the developers through the app settings. @dkbit98 @Charles-Tim both Monero and Algorand are the roadmap[2][3]. That means it is giving the information based on one day analyses which can only be useful for day traders. It has 1 hours, 4 hours, 1 day and a week indicator. 1, 4 hours and 1 day are useful for days traders while 1 week is useful for swing traders. Indicators may also not be accurate and that makes trading to be dangerous. As a holder, you will not bother to check something like that. But you are right, wallets should not be for trading. Although, those are not the real indicators, it is only suggesting buy or sell but not indicating it in candle sticks that will tell the information in charts instead of suggesting it. My guess is that they get this data from the trading view which also shows similar type of technicals. https://i.ibb.co/n8dbWSx/trading-view.png What if you're a Newbie, got this wallet recommended, bought your first Bitcoin, and then the wallet tells you "sell"! I'm not sure yet if I'll be recommending this wallet. A Newbie will not buy and sell based on this indication because he wouldn't know how to use the swap option in the unstoppable wallet. By the time he learns the swapping coins, he should be familiar with basic trading and know what he is doing (when to buy/sell). If he just experiments with different options in the wallet without learning, then it is only his mistake. Don't know why people won't drive a car on the highway until they have sufficient experience, but they will experiment with their crypto with incomplete knowledge. :( Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: AprilioMP on September 14, 2023, 04:15:43 AM It is not suggesting you to give up your coins, they are technical indicators. By default, the timeframe is 1 day. As a new user of the unstoppable wallet, I agree that the technical indicators contained in the unstoppable wallet will not be the user's focus because trading users have their own strategies in determining when to buy and sell. At least with the availability of hang technical indicators containing periods of 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day and 1 week, unstoppable wallet users who often carry out routine transactions get an idea that can strengthen their plans for that time when trading on other exchanges. https://talkimg.com/images/2023/09/14/6mq6J.jpeg Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: dkbit98 on September 18, 2023, 07:12:51 PM I've never seen a crypto wallet that basically tells me to give up on crypto :D I have this option disabled because I don't care about current fiat values and analytics so much, and it is just a distraction for me.And why would you even care about default settings for anything you use? The Wallet is separate from the Transactions. I'd expect to see all Transactions "under" each coin, instead of on a separate tab where I either see all coins, or have to select one again. This feature is on the new version. Click on the coin and you will see the transaction history.Edit: I am unable to see the technical indicator again, but also on the older version. Am I correct? I won't use things that I don't know that could pose a risk of loss. Maybe I need to learn about timelocks before trying this. There is nothing hard about lock time. But I see it better on wallets like Electrum or using Coinb.in for it. On the wallet I just mentioned, you can decide to also use a specific date and time, or you can use blockheight instead. On Electrum, you can even use unix time if you want. On Unstoppable wallet, once you have enabled timelock under settings, and you want to make bitcoin transaction, you can set the time you want the bitcoin transaction to be broadcasted. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/09/21/6pNqb.jpeg https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/09/21/6pR9m.jpeg https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/09/21/6pPs1.jpeg I do not like how the time lock is on Unstoppable for now, but some people may like as is it. I do not see how it can lead to loss of coins, it can not. But it is possible that the time lock may not work as expected which might be the experimental Unstoppable wallet developers are referring to. I will prefer to know the version they introduced timelock. However, i have one query and that is how can we check through the blockchain (web) that our wallet contains which tokens and their quantity?
A bit of explanation is here. We need to first add the crypto to our wallet and then get its deposit address and then we can deposit that crypto to our unstoppable wallet. Now we can even remove the crypto from the interface but the amount of coins still remains in our wallet (in blockchain). Let's suppose, i have many different altcoins stored in the Unstoppable wallet and I accidentally removed some of the wallets from the main screen. Now how can I check through Blockchain (web), that my wallet contains which altcoins that have a balance? You have to copy the bitcoin address and check its balance blockchian.info. Similarly, for Ethereum and eth related tokens can be found at Etherscan. Same goes for BSC based tokens (https://bscscan.com/). Litecoin has its own explorer and so there are many coins having their own block explorers. I understand your point of view and i will suggest you that when you deposit in any new altcoins in unstoppable wallet, make a note of that altcoin in your diary or somewhere. So in case you do delete the altcoins from the main screen, you always know in which altcoins you have balance. There may be any better way but i can only think of this way right now. I understand what you are asking. I played around with Unstoppable Wallet very briefly in the beginning and don't remember its interface at all now. You are worried that if you delete a coin/token from the portfolio view, that you won't know or might forget that you had it there in the first place. It's a valid question. Does Unstoppable have a "scan all blockchains" feature or something like that, where the software will go through all supported assets to see if there are any transaction records that correspond to your portfolio? I highly doubt it, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Or can you access the complete transaction history associated with your wallets without adding individual coins to the software? You better remember or take note of what you transfer there. That's the safest way. Going back to Ledger Live, when you install the software, its portfolio view is completely empty and doesn't show any balance either. You have to add the coins and tokens to it and let it scan the blockchain before it can display your balance. It's the same thing. If you forgot you moved a certain altcoin to your Ledger and don't have the app installed on the device or the coin added to your portfolio, you wouldn't know it's there. What I don't know, though, is if your wallet's transaction history will show records of transactions you performed that currently aren't part of your portfolio view. ??? So this problem is not only with Unstoppable Wallet but with Ledger too. I am sure then there will be no way to scan all the blockchain in the trust wallet too. This leaves us with only one option and that is to write the altcoins on a piece of paper or digitally somewhere, so if the coins are removed from the portfolio view, you know you have which coins in your portfolio. But if I scroll down and go to page 89 (https://coinmarketcap.com/?page=89), there are "only" 8884, and none of them show anything under "Volume (24h)". I thought I was not understanding what Pmalek posted until I went to Coinmarketcap site to confirm it and I saw 1.8 million plus cryptocurrencies. Although, on the app, I saw 26923 cryptocurrencies. Both are lies.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on October 17, 2023, 04:14:34 PM I thought I was not understanding what Pmalek posted until I went to Coinmarketcap site to confirm it and I saw 1.8 million plus cryptocurrencies. Although, on the app, I saw 26923 cryptocurrencies. Both are lies. At the same time, CoinGecko shows a total number of only 10.4k coins and tokens. I am guessing CMC counts one token available on multiple blockchains several times. For instance, tether is a token you can find all over the place, so CMC will say there are 7 tether tokens (or whatever number of blockchains they can be found on). They might do the same for all wrapped, liquid, or 2nd-layer assets. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Charles-Tim on October 28, 2023, 10:27:38 AM It has been 5 days ago, but I have just known about the new update today, Unstoppable wallet version 0.36.0 (https://github.com/horizontalsystems/unstoppable-wallet-android/releases)
What is added in the update: 1. Security enhancements: Auto-Lock, Random Numpad and Duress Mode. 2. Full app backup, means users would be able to backup not just individual wallets but the entire app with an option to include or exclude desired wallets. Read more about it. 3. Zcash upgrade 4. AI-genersated project descriptions. Read more about it 5. Other fixes: updated Unstoppable Domains SDK, updated 1inch API, redesigned app Status screen, performance improvements, UI improvements in various places What I like more about this upgrade is the Duress Mode. I have only noticed something like this on Bluewallet before, in a way you can have a fake wallet if you enter the fake wallet password and the real wallet will not be seen (no wallet is fake but I think you understand what I mean). Duress mode on Unstoppable wallet makes this possible, and you can set different password for your different wallet to be only seen. Assuming I am having wallet 1, 2 and 3. My password is 12345 I set duress wallet 1 password as 11111 Duress wallet 2 password as 22222 Maybe wallet 3 is having just little amount of coins (fake wallet). Not fake wallet but I think you understand what I am implying. And the duress password is 33333 Password 12345 will let you see the whole wallet (1, 2 and 3) as usual as it was Password 11111 will only let you see wallet 1 Password 22222 will only let you see wallet 2 Password 33333 will only let you see wallet 3 I think this is good. I use weak password for illustrating it, not recommended. Use better passwords. The attacker might believe that they have uncontroversial information about the existence of 5 wallets, when ONLY three exist, so no matter what the BTC HODLer strives to achieve, he may well find himself in an impossible situation in which he is likely going to get beaten over and over and over based on the wannabe know-it-all's wrong information. Banter aside, I would add into wallet something like a panic combination (which resembles a password) for sending a location-aware GPS alarm to relevant security service when user faces a $5 wrench. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on October 29, 2023, 09:11:51 AM "We'll just keep hitting him with a $5 wrench until he shares at least 5 wallets!". Why just 5? How about 10? Hit him until you get all 10. We will then switch our focus to the other kneecap and ask him about his multi-sig setups and cold wallets. There are surely at least 5 of those. Joking aside, if the attackers are that persistent, it doesn't matter how strong your security is because your health and that of your family is the priority. The attackers should never know about the existence of multiple wallets, meaning you shouldn't have told anyone about it. If you go through the trouble of setting them up, then they should contain a sum that is worth protecting. Obviously, if they unlock it to find $50 inside, they will know there must be something else. For example, we go through various efforts to make our decoys plausible, and then if it ends up that the attacker happens to have information about 3 out of 10 of our wallets, and we give him our decoy wallet #6, then at that point s/he has information about 4 out of 10 of our wallets... and we might not even know, until we are being beaten with the $5 wrench, about which wallets s/he has information and which ones not...and if we are being beaten, our thinking might not be as clear as we wished as it would have been under such scenario. Surely one of the best defenses may well to be attempting to not be telling the whole world about our bitcoin wallets, and so if we are interacting and transacting, there may be ways to get used to rotating through hot wallets and decoy wallets so that there are no real ways for the attacker to really know about the other ones that may or may not exist, and so yeah, how persistent is s/he and is s/he trying to get us to give over bitcoin that we don't have.. but s/he has "good reasons" to believe that we might have more than what we are proclaiming to have during the waterboarding process. Trouble of spending 5 to 10 seconds more for creating/accessing other accounts? Yeah it's a really big trouble :DPeople can do this because of simple privacy purposes, maybe you don't want someone to see all your addresses, transactions and balance. Not everyone is running around with wrenches trying to steal crypto from your phone, in fact this are very rear cases and targets are mostly people who publicly brag about crypto ownership. It's more likely that someone will just steal your phone and wallet with cash than anything related with crypto. If so then good job to Unstoppable. It does give me a better sense of security and safety. Even if I know a situation where I have to provide some body the fake code to my Wallet would be difficult to handle. and if we are being beaten, our thinking might not be as clear as we wished as it would have been under such scenario. Golden words. You made me smile. You prepare for the worst all your life and then if the worst comes to you, you are facing what you have always feared. How many of us are strong enough to successfully get a wrench to their bones and accept a possibility of being forever handicapped or even dying in a grotesque way, having all of our children and family suffer just to protect a digital asset. Would you give up your legs for the Bitcoin you own: Would you rather be paralyzed with Bitcoins on your phone or would you give the Bitcoins up and continue living a normal life.Worth a lot of money or not. Our passion or not. Bitcoin should still be less important than our lives, health and sanity. Under such scenario, many would simply freeze. Others would give up enough information the attacker needs to get what they needed. Others would just never give up and would die for their Bitcoins. But the possibilities are infinite. Maybe the attacker stops if you give them just one Wallet. Not the 50 bucks one but maybe a chunkier one while still holding on to the majority of your Coins. How do you know however. Maybe you give the attacker even 10 Wallets and they continue giving you the wrench. Maybe the attacker is in fact a psycho. Crazy guy who would never stop. Maybe that is the point. The attacker could have one purpose. Getting as many Wallets from you while slowly KILLING you. Not just hurting you until you give up. I wonder if any of us could continue lying well about the other Wallets while being beaten. That 5 Dollar wrench can easily trigger a mental break down since you know you are hiding something and you know you are sort of being punished for it. If you can handle a lie SO well the attacker does not notice at all then great for you. But what the freak happens if they notice something seems off about your answers. Could be the worst outcome for you indeed. Scary scenario. We are all preparing for it but unfortunately in many cases even the most prepared people get the expected in the most unexpected way at the most unexpected time. God forbid this scenario EVER happens to any of us. Anyway. 5 Dollar wrench attacked or not. Stay safe and prioritize life, health, sanity over anything digital or material. God forbid this scenario EVER happens to any of us. The element of surprise can come from psychos and also from people who are not very psycho, but just determined for other reasons, including various kinds of societal breakdowns that may or may not go back to economics. Frequently the attacker will not have a lot of specifics, but it could be an attacker who has quite a bit of specifics. It surely does not hurt to prepare for a variety of attackers, but we might not be able to prepare for some of the scenarios, and we also might get lucky to have had prepared to lose more than we end up losing... and yeah, some times, the wrong doer will fear so much getting caught that he will want to make sure that there are no witnesses, so we are not in a good situation if we might not know the attackers ultimate goal is to make sure that we are not a witness. My $63 wrench beats any $5 wrench!Yep.. the element of surprise.. can sometimes not provide enough protection (even if your wrench or gun is BIGGer), and surely many people are honest in the world, but sometimes we might find ourselves in some kind of precarious position. Surely some folks live with many security systems, so any intruder has to get past the various security systems (or to be a house guest), but even those people with high security may well have some places in which they are vulnerable... who is wanting to live like that? but sometimes there are instances in which societies break down because too many people get desperate, and then experiencing thieves, assault and robbery can even cause honest people to consider futility in terms of their history of having had acted honestly.. and seeing the less honest people getting ahead while they suffer and consider that their honesty might be keeping them in less prosperous circumstances... so sometimes even relatively "honest" people might get lured into performing desperate acts or even taking advantage of a situation.. and sure it is more difficult to confront someone directly rather than sneaking behind their back. This is exactly what is the purpose of this and also it is explained in the update. If you are ever forced into an unfortunate situation where someone forces you to open up the wallet (at a gunpoint or something), you can open it with the wallet password which has a few amount of coins and this way your main wallet will remain safe. Passphrase will be generating different wallet (keys and addresses) in a way that without the passphrase, the wallet can not be compromised. On Unstoppable wallet, the password is for different wallet entirely. Which one has a weaker spot? Not worth comparing both because Ledgers is a hardware wallet and would be considered more secure in general. Although, if Ledger is the only hardware wallet that remains on earth, I will never use a hardware wallet because of obvious reasons. If a hardware wallet has duress mode and support passphrase just like how it is on Unstoppable wallet, but in a way that they seed phrase and they keys will be difficult to know with secure element, I can have different wallet with different passphrase and different pin (duress mode) for each wallet which j consider secure. And if you have 10 wallets, 1 in 100,000 PINs will be valid. I don't think it matters much in practice, just have your 24" wrench ready. Don't forget that Ledger has two ways to allow access to the passphrase-protected account/s. One way is by entering the passphrase the way it was set up, which is more secure, but the other way is to connect the passphrase to a secondary PIN. That PIN is, at worst, 4 digits, and at best 8 digits long.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: God Of Thunder on November 25, 2023, 09:22:24 AM I have heard about this wallet before but did not try it until yesterday. Their allowance is too low for Bitcoin transaction fees, which unfortunately only leaves altcoins. But there's not really a point if they can't spend it to buy toys online. It seems problematic to introduce kids to bitcoin through shitcoins.... or to consider that it would be good to go that route, even though I have some troubles considering any really good solution, yet it does not seem that we are getting very far away from the ideas of savings and/or sound money and/or investing (if that might be part of what you might be trying to teach your kids as well as financial responsibility and being responsible for their value once they get it). But then, getting them into shitcoins seem to take a potential easy route out that is kind of like just considering the transactional value rather than the storage of value option that bitcoin provides but it does not have to be honored because bitcoin can also be transferred and transacted in, but there might be some costs in doing that.. I know kids frequently are not thinking that far out into the future, and a week or a month might seem to be a long time to many kids.. but then it seems problematic to end up potentially contributing to the kids to consider shitcoins as similar to bitcoin.. and maybe just getting back to the "just say no" values that surely sound better in theory rather than in practice. I can think of a couple of possible solutions, and one is to figure out some kind of a lightning wallet solution, even though there seem to be technical aspects with keeping many of them going. Another possibility would be to hold their funds in some kind of a separate accounting that is held by you (the parent), and then once the funds reach a certainly high enough level to justify the fees (or periods when the fees go down), then to send the funds to a wallet that the kid controls.. if that is what you mean by giving to your kids is that they would also control the wallet.. and maybe you have some oversight and maybe not depending on their age and other aspects of your way of relating with them.. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: virasog on November 25, 2023, 06:04:29 PM We're talking about hot wallets here, $50 is acceptable but I wouldn't want a lot in it anyway. Some amounts may be insignificant for some people while the same amount can be insignificant for others. For example, someone may be storing 1 ETH in the unstoppable wallet and may keep it in the hidden wallet, as 2000$ may be a big amount of money for him, while the other person may store the same amount of ETH without hiddenly, as 2000$ may not be a big amount for him. Even one may have 0.5 ETH with him and he may saved each penny to gather 1000$ to get that ETH. So, I decided to use a dedicated altcoin wallet. Previously, I used Trust Wallet. But, as you may know, it's a closed source, which is why everyone asks not to use it. For now, I am also moving to Unstoppable Wallet and using Electrum. If you don't care about losing $2k, then by all means, keep it in a hot wallet for your daily spending. But if you can't risk losing $50 (for instance because you earn $12 per month (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5470438.0)), then you shouldn't keep it in a hot wallet.~ So there are many people who may have an insignificant amount of money stored in unstoppable wallets but that money is significant for them. I was actually thinking of getting my kids a crypto wallet :D Let them choose if they want their allowance in cash, or magic internet money. Their allowance is too low for Bitcoin transaction fees, which unfortunately only leaves altcoins. But there's not really a point if they can't spend it to buy toys online. It seems problematic to introduce kids to bitcoin through shitcoins....Using LN isn't really an option either: I don't want to teach them to use custodial wallets, especially long-term, and non-custodial wallets come with high on-chain fees for opening and closing channels. If it wouldn't be so much work, I'd setup a testnet webshop, in which they can order candy using their Bitcoin testnet mobile wallet. Like Starblocks (https://starblocks.acinq.co/), but for kids, and I'll actually give them the items they order. I can reserve comment for possibly another time and another thread, after I practice more on the opening and closing or even costs of adding value once opened, and hopefully some of these LN wallets are going to be getting more and more user-friendly regarding using them, maintaining them and just being available in more places whether peer to peer or more merchant adoption, so that we can have more places to practice using them and to better inform ourselves how on personal levels how they are working. I am kind of glad that you said that it costs too much to open and close channels rather than it was too technical for them to use them (or too unreliable), so costs might be something that I can at least play around with attempting to analyze the idea for a while, or maybe some of the cost facts (avenues/options) might improve in the future. The fee is not ERC20 ether, but ether on Optimism network. Search for ETH on Unstoppable wallet, you will see ETH (Optimism). That is the ether that you will use for the transaction. On exchanges and onchain transfer, the ether transaction fee on Optimism network is very cheap. So buy it should not be a problem. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on December 25, 2023, 09:15:20 AM Charles-Tim is correct. You are trying to pay transaction fees on network A using tokens that reside on Network B, and that's why it's not working. It's the same asset (ETH) but on a different chain or layer.
On exchanges and onchain transfer, the ether transaction fee on Optimism network is very cheap. So buy it should not be a problem. Since he already has Ethereum in his Unstoppable Wallet, he should be able to use the internal swap feature to exchange the native ETH coins to the ETH tokens he needs on the Optimism layer, I assume. Just like how it is on some altcoin wallets, like Trustwallet which is close source and not recommendable. This is what I found on Unstable wallet:https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/12/25/Iv4aH.jpeg https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/12/25/Iv5Tg.jpeg It is yet not possible on Unstoppable wallet. That ETH supposed to have optimism symbol which can make it confusing as it is in ERC20 symbol, but it is ETH on Optimism network. I am talking about the ETH and this has the domoninace of 16% , the 2nd largest crypto currecny after bitcoin which has the dominance of almost 48%. I don't know how you call ETH a shitcoin ??? Also most people will use Electurm wallet for the bitcoins, which makes unstoppable wallet only for the shitcoins :P Anyways, thanks everyone for the guidance, yes i was doing a mistake of not having the Ether on Layer 2 (that is OP). I don't know how you call ETH a shitcoin ??? Let's see: it's centrally controlled, pre-mined, used to scam millions of people with worthless made-up tokens, and forks when it's convenient for the rich owners. But all of that is off-topic here, so I'll stop.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Charles-Tim on December 29, 2023, 10:38:23 AM My settings: "Tor" and "From Blockchain". How would you prefer me to call ethereum instead? There are several synonyms I can use instead of word shit, for example crap, poop, dump, junk, etc. Solana crap is now third or fourth by ''dominance'' but that doesn't mean it's any good, it still remains centralized junk supported by ftx scammer. For me only good reason why someone would use shitcoins is because of privacy, or because they support stablecoins for temporary trading. And that is the reason why someone may need to use multi-currency wallets. Now back on Unstoppable wallet topic please. I will not recommend it for coins like bitcoin, litecoin, dash and other coins that have synchronizing issue. It is only good for those like BSC, Solana and others with their tokens. I can somehow agree with this.I tested how Unstoppable works with stable coin USDT on tron network, and it's not good. Most of the times it won't sync even if you leave it open for longer periods of time, so it's unusable in real life situation. They often release updates so maybe some of the stuff is fixed, but I can't confirm that. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on December 29, 2023, 04:35:41 PM I don't see a need to use Unstoppable Wallet for coins like Litecoin, Dash, Bitcoin, or Tron. All those assets have native wallets that you can use. And it's safer than using the same keys for all coins. In case something goes wrong and the keys leak or the wallet gets hacked, you wouldn't lose everything you have in your wallet. You only lose one asset, while the rest remains safe.

The only thing that is probably worth mentioning is the fast syncing for bitcoin. But it is not my bitcoin wallet. One of the reasons is because it is not supporting replace-by-fee and because I will like my bitcoin to be on a bitcoin-only wallet. I still enjoy Electrum and Sparrow to a greater extent, while Electrum, Bluewallet and Samourai on mobile devices. But this is a good improvement. The only thing that is probably worth mentioning is the fast syncing for bitcoin. You can find the detailed changelog here[1] [1] https://github.com/horizontalsystems/unstoppable-wallet-android/releases I hope Unstoppable wallet developers will do the same for altcoins that have the synchronizing issue. Like litecoin and dash. I checked both but still the same like before. Both even take longer time to synchronize than before. Also for altcoins users, if more coins is added would be good. A friend of mine asked me a wallet that is supporting algorand some weeks ago. I searched for it on Unstoppable wallet and I was unable to see it. There are still other well known coins that the wallet is not supporting. There is another one that I see as a major improvement, especially for newbies. Which is spam transaction filter that would be against address poisoning. I see this as a major improvement because some people send their altcoins to attacker's address this way and only noticed when it is too late already. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 09, 2024, 04:45:20 PM <Snip> Looking at the release notes, the reason why syncing is significantly faster is because Unstoppable Wallet has integrated Blockchair.com's API service. Judging by how they worded the update, users can still use the 'old' and slow P2P synchronization option. I am glad they did it. When I originally tested this wallet, it took a long time to sync and took up too much space on my phone. Hopefully, Bitcoin is just the beginning of many other networks that will be improved in this way. However, i noticed that all other blockchain sync time is also considerably improved and the whole unstoppable wallets syncs within no time. I think this update was much awaited and by far the best update in term of satisfying the user experience of using the app. Yes, there may be more better security updates in previous updates but those are all in the backend. This update will be mostly liked and noticed by everyone using the Unstoppable Wallet. https://i.ibb.co/x5xB9cC/Unstoppabe.jpg Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 12, 2024, 03:01:24 PM Well they did mention in their version 0.37 update that there will be fast Bitcoin Sync and specifically mentioned for the bitcoin and bitcoin cash blockchains. According to him, he now needs even more time to synchronize his Litecoin and Dash balances. Maybe it was just a temporary problem on his end or you have different assets, and some are now syncing faster, while others still aren't. I have not tested bitcoin cash on it before but it synchronized very fast when I tried it just now.For litecoin, on my two mobile devices, it is not synchronizing at all now after I left it open for 5 minutes 0% synchronization. I tried it just now. For dash, on both devices, it is very slow. The synchronization got to 26% after 5 minutes on the first device while 38% after 5 minutes on the second device. Also I tried it just now. That is not the only problem if you have this kind of coins. If you want to send them, it can be pending for minutes and later become failed. It happened when I wanted to send litecoin in the past. I tried it there times before it was send successfully. The third time that I sent the coin, it was first pending for several minutes if not hours. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on January 13, 2024, 07:21:44 AM <Snip> I hope they can sort those issues out. The Unstoppable Wallet is a rare open-source occurrence in a sea of closed-source multi-coin software wallets in this industry. It would be too bad if they started losing their userbase because they can't get the basics right, like allowing people to sync their balances and make transactions properly. (Although i don't have much LTC in my wallet) I noticed that BIP44 litecoin addresses are easier to synchronize with the blockchain, although it took up to 1 minutes before it did. I noticed that BIP 49 was the next. Followed by BIP84. While BIP 86 was the slowest that took more than 3 minutes to get to 26% just now and I did not wait for it to finish synchronizing. You have coin on it. If you open the wallet often, likely you might not know the synchronizing issue. But if you just want to use it or enable it to be on your coin list, you will notice the issue. Litecoin transaction fee is low, can you transfer the coin and see if there is any issue as I had issue with it in the past with pending and failed transaction. If you open your wallet daily, you may not know the issue, especially if you have the coin on your list and you have several coins in a way you are not seeing litecoin unless you scroll down. But if you leave your wallet for some days or a week without opening it, you will see the synchronizing issue. I have a wallet on the two devices that I have left for like 2 months now, for litecoin they are not even synchronizing at all and showing a triangle in red. I mean on both devices. Just try if coin control for Bitcoin is added to Unstoppable, maybe their Android version of the wallet will be at the top of other wallets that support more than one coin. If we were the ones to suggest coin controls for Bitcoin, would they make that suggestion a priority and be executed? No where to connect it to hardware wallet. No multisig function. I can not use it to spend coins with unconfirmed transaction. Unstoppable wallet have a long way to go if we are talking about bitcoin. I just like how it is. Things are in a way I have my bitcoin separate from altcoins. You can not use Unstoppable wallet offline as a cold wallet. Although, you can use it as a watch-only wallet. There are still some syncing problem. What I think should be fixed now is the litecoin, dash, zcash and other coins synching problem. Also to support other coins. I recommend a friend of mine the wallet. He complained to me that the wallet is not supporting doge and algo and some coins that he wants to gamble with. I think a wallet should support a coin that has a marketcap of over $1 billion. There are many bitcoin open source wallets like Electrum and Sparrow, or Bluewallet and Samourai for mobile that Unstoppable wallet can not be compared with. Bitcoin users will prefer to use those bitcoin-only wallet that has more functionality. No milticoin wallet that has more functionality that those bitcoin-only wallet if it about bitcoin. Simply if they use one wallet for the altcoins that is an Unstoppable wallet, that is enough to meet their needs and also have peace of mind that they are using a good trusted Open Source wallet. People mostly use trust wallets instead because of their extensive marketing but they need to know the difference and consequences of using an Open Source and a Closed source wallet. And Unstoppable, I only use it as a wallet to store altcoins. You got the right point, that is storing BTC in Open Source software wallet only in small quantities. Ideally, it should be the amount that you need to transact with often otherwise if you're storing your bitcoins for the long term, hardware wallets / cold storage is the best option. For the altcoins too, you can store the ones that you need to trade often move in and out of the exchange and unstoppable wallet (in case you are a spot trader) and the investment of these altcoins should find a place in the hardware wallet. I buy the coins on an exchange for trading in the spot, move them to my Unstoppable wallet, and then move them again to the exchange if i want to sell after a few days or sometimes use the Swap feature within the Unstoppable wallet to sell the coins for stable coins or bitcoin. The purpose of altcoin trading/investment should always be to increase your assets in stable coins or in bitcoins. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: taufik123 on February 09, 2024, 11:57:32 PM Unstoppable has released several versions after releasing version 0.37.0. Instead of adding solana and other junk they should work more on adding coin control for Bitcoin, and that should not be such a hard thing to do.As of version 0.37.1, sync issues in Tron and Bitcoin. In version 0.37.2, updated bitcoin-kit and I want to say that Unstoppable wallet in version 0.37.3 is the final version for now regarding Solana token balance sync. I don't see anyone suggesting that on their github page, but it would be good thing to do if someone has github or reddit/discord account. Multi-Chain wallets will always add every new network even if no one suggests it, they follow the trend but ignore the security on the network. Now see how the Solana Blockchain has always been problematic and even to the point of death and need to restart. This seems to have become a common case in Solana networks. According to analysts, there is a design flaw in the Solana blockchain, Solana uses Proof Of History(PoH) consensus, which is untested, while Proof Of Stake (PoS) has gone through a very long research and testing process. source: [1] https://cointelegraph.com/news/solana-network-outage-block-production-halted Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: AprilioMP on February 11, 2024, 12:38:46 PM I have never used Sparrow, but I still use Bluewallet for storing BTC which is not in large quantities. I buy the coins on an exchange for trading in the spot, move them to my Unstoppable wallet, and then move them again to the exchange if i want to sell after a few days or sometimes use the Swap feature within the Unstoppable wallet to sell the coins for stable coins or bitcoin. And Unstoppable, I only use it as a wallet to store altcoins. The process of using the exchange and wallet that you should do, I think is on the right track because you choose to go in and out of the exchange to the wallet because storing assets on the exchange is not a recommendation to do, even in small amounts. When I use Unstoppable, the process is the same as yours. Buy altcoins on exchange and I move to wallet. Interested in selling because I have made a profit due to the increase in price, from wallet send again to exchange. Since using the Unstoppable wallet, I have never used the swap feature available on this wallet. The purpose of altcoin trading/investment should always be to increase your assets in stable coins or in bitcoins. Depends on individual choice. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: virasog on February 18, 2024, 03:42:37 AM Unstoppable Wallet Maybe they didn't want to go out of trend, and they added Solana because it was hype. Multi-Chain wallets will always add every new network even if no one suggests it, they follow the trend but ignore the security on the network. Now see how the Solana Blockchain has always been problematic and even to the point of death and need to restart. This seems to have become a common case in Solana networks. For sure, they need to add Solana and other chains too. Since Unstoppable wallet is known to be a multi coin wallet, everyone expects that they will incorporate all the chains in it. Otherwise who want to store Solana will be disappointed. By the way, if the SOL blockchain has a problem, it has nothing to do with the Unstoppable wallet. It's the people choice whether they want to buy and store the SOL token in their wallet and by the looks of the SOL price, it seems that people are not being disturbed the the problematic solana blockchain. :( Since using the Unstoppable wallet, I have never used the swap feature available on this wallet. I guess, although the swap feature is easy to use but it is more expensive as compared to moving the coins back to the exchanges and then sell those coins. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: taufik123 on February 18, 2024, 11:51:23 PM -snip- Yes, this is only a matter of choice and will have no effect on Unstoppable wallet. By the way, if the SOL blockchain has a problem, it has nothing to do with the Unstoppable wallet. It's the people choice whether they want to buy and store the SOL token in their wallet and by the looks of the SOL price, it seems that people are not being disturbed the the problematic solana blockchain. :( SOLANA is just a network that happens to be hype lately but it seems that it's over. I also as an Unstoppable wallet user not only focus on SOL chains but many chains that I use. I guess, although the swap feature is easy to use, but it is more expensive as compared to moving the coins back to the exchanges and then sell those coins. Whether you want to swap or not depends on each use.The fee for swap also follows the network fee used, I tried to swap on the BSC network and the fee was under $1, and it was very cheap. Unstoppable has 3 main Swap Providers namely 1inch, Pancake v2, v3 and Uniswap v3. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/02/18/YmIwT.jpeg https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/02/18/YmNio.jpeg Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: LoyceV on February 19, 2024, 08:05:52 AM My initial estimate of long-term bandwidth consumption was way off. It's "only" 1.4 GB in a few weeks now. Not great, not terrible. In the past month, Unstoppable wallet (now with only 2 coins) has used 685 MB mobile data, and 829 MB through Wifi. The weird thing is: I'm on Wifi 90% of the day. It's as if it waits for me to go out, and then starts updating :PTitle: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: bayu7adi on February 19, 2024, 03:02:00 PM https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/02/19/YP8FD.jpeg https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/02/19/YPbxZ.jpeg
Since my initial installation, BNB on the BEP2 network has never synchronized properly for me. However, there haven't been any issues with BEP20. Is this really a bug in the application, or is it just me experiencing this? What I know is that BEP2 is the native blockchain of Binance Coin. Has it truly been completely replaced by BEP-20 in this wallet? Although this issue can be resolved by transferring my balance through an exchange, such as entering with BEP2 and exiting with BEP20, I'll definitely be hindered by direct transfers to the BNB balance on the native blockchain. Worst case, you can probably recover all your private keys using Ian Coleman's Mnemonic Code Converter (https://iancoleman.io/bip39/) (with the usual security precautions, such as offline, airgapped, curtains closed, and burn the computer in holy fire afterwards). Usually I'd try that before funding, but I'm only keeping small amounts in this (or any other) mobile wallet, so I didn't bother.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: LoyceV on March 03, 2024, 05:44:05 PM My Unstoppable wallet "forgot" it's Litecoin data today. I had to connect the charger because of the battery consumption (my phone has been warm for hours). I don't know what caused this.

Here are the steps:- Go to Settings ---> Block Chain Settings ----> Ethereum Here you will be asked to select the source the unstoppable wallet will use to sync the wallets. By default the source is selected as "Infura", change it to "LIamaNodes" (https://eth.LLamarpc.com) Note the setting will automatically be applied to all the wallets. Hopefully, this will resolve your sync issues for the Ethereum blockchain. I noticed, before the blockchain settings were carried out on the Unstoppable wallet, the Ethereum coin was used infura (mainnet.infura) for synchronizing wallet(s). After the changes are made in the settings from the mainnet.infura to llamanodes, the result is synchronizing working well as usual. I will try to share some of the highlights here, such as: 1. MAJOR BITCOIN UPGRADE Accelerate/cancel pending Bitcoin transactions. There are still 3 more that are included in the Major Bitcoin Upgrade points. 2. TOKEN ANALYTICS ENHANCEMENTS AI powered buy/sell signals Smart contract token analysis 3. WATCHLIST ENHANCEMENTS 4. TRANSACTIONS FILTERS This is an advancement from the Unstoppable wallet. MAJOR BITCOIN UPGRADE Accelerate/cancel pending Bitcoin transactions. First, do not use the word 'accelerate' because on this forum, it means a different thing from bump fee or increase fee by double spending or replace-by-fee. This are the common terms used as what Unstoppable wallet meant as 'speed up'. Or you could have just use 'speed up'. Second, there are other updates about bitcoin that you skipped but which is what that is most important to us. You can now use coin control on Unstoppable wallet. Users can preview previously used addresses for incoming bitcoin payments. Also we can add memo now for incoming bitcoin payments. Bitcoin wallets within Unstoppable received substantial enhancements: users are now able to speed up / cancel pending Bitcoin transactions. advanced and/or privacy-conscious users have the ability to control which Bitcoin UTXOs are used for transactions. users are now able to view previously used addresses for incoming Bitcoin payments. finally, there is an option to add public on-chain notes (memos) to outgoing Bitcoin payments. The abovementioned improvements also apply to other Bitcoin-like blockchains i.e. Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. But it is nice that you brought this. My use of the word 'accelerate' is not appropriate here. I should have used the words 'speed up' as written in highlight version 0.38.0. So true. I did not include these points and only informed one point which I quoted regarding 'users are now able to speed up / cancel pending Bitcoin transactions', as initial information which can then be seen for themselves by users who read it. The 3 points consisting of coin control, 'users are now able to view previously used addresses for incoming Bitcoin payments', and the addition of memos to outgoing Bitcoin payments which are updated in this latest version are very important. That was on version 0.37 that was released on the 28th December of last year. It would be nice if they could release desktop wallet in future. Unstoppable wallet is becoming one of the best bitcoin wallets. It is having the necessary features that those bitcoin wallets are having. What I will like the wallet developers to add is lightning network. It is not necessary but I will like to see that. Desktop versions like Linux, Windows and macOS will be good, but this will require more work from the developers. It can even be used on airgapped devices which will make desktop to be very good, but this may not be easy for the developers to begin with with those operating systems.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: AprilioMP on May 03, 2024, 08:55:48 AM Unstoppable developers just released a new version 0.38.4 of their wallet, so make sure to update in due time. Unstoppable in my opinion, a multi-coin wallet is pretty good for me to use. Bitcoin's address is not only one type, but they have several types of formats such as BIP 84 recommended by them, Legacy (BIP 44), Taproot (BIP 86) and Segwit (BIP 49). If they add a lightning network, it will be even better because it can be an option for users who want more efficient and cheaper transactions even though the use of lightning networks is not much familiar to some users. Although you can login your wallet on multiple devices, but it is better to limit yourself with one device only so that the chances of being hacked or compromised is to a minimum extend. I would not be willing to try a desktop version of this wallet even when they release a more stable version of it. Mobile devices and computer or laptop devices are different wallets. If you use one wallet for several devices, for me that is not the right action to maintain security. Yes... As an open source multi-coin wallet, it is not wrong if we recommend people to use unstoppable as a wallet to store altcoin (if the ability to buy hardware wallets) rather than using other wallets that are not open sources even though they are familiar For them out there. Using an unstoppable wallet to store bitcoin is also not bad but there are other considerations to be avoided because it is not good multi-coin wallet considering there is a special Bitcoin wallet that is open source and has been proven like an electrum. It's about the fact that you don't need a multicoin wallet for bitcoin when we have a decent amount of quality standalone bitcoin wallets. I think he is trying to say that there are multiple security considerations when choosing a bitcoin wallet. If you use a bitcoin-only wallet, then you know you are dealing with a piece of software where the developers are only focusing on one coin and securing that coin. There are many more features, coin support, and code in multicoin wallets. The developers must focus on much more. One serious mistake could be enough for a skilled adversary to cause a lot of harm to a lot of people. Since there is so much more coding in multicoin wallets, the chances are greater to overlook something. I have no idea how that crap token transition works, but you can go in settings of your wallet, and than select Recovery Phrase and Private Keys.Write that keys on piece of paper (don't show them in public to anyone) and import in some other wallet that support your token. For more information and help better contact Unstappable wallet support. Quote EVM Private Key https://unstoppable.money/faqThis key allows importing EVM-based cryptocurrencies (Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain etc) from Unstoppable to any other standard compliant wallet app. In other words, someone with a multi coin wallet that has ETH, BTC, BNB on it can use that key to restore access to ETH, BNB on some other wallet that doesn’t support Bitcoin i.e. Metamask browser based wallet. The EVM Private Key shouldn't be shared publicly. Someone with an access to this EVM private key can take over management of cryptocurrencies that are based on EVM type blockchains i.e. Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon etc. It won't provide access to Bitcoin or other non-EVM cryptocurrencies that reside within the same multi-coin wallet on Unstoppable. If you had your funds on either Polygon zkEVM or Ethereum's ERC20 then you need to migrate. I believe they have a bridge to do so. If you're in the first category, and you see "MATIC" still, then I would imagine that's because Unstoppable wallet hasn't made the "update" to the token's name. But this is just a guess. If there is no support in open-source and trusted wallets, you are left with holding your alts in an exchange (a bad solution) or compromising and using a closed-source non-custodial wallet (a slightly less bad solution). Huh This is what I saw about it also: If your MATIC tokens are stored in your wallet on the Polygon PoS chain, you won't need to manually migrate them — they'll be automatically converted to POL at a 1:1 ratio. You do not need to bother yourself. If you search for Pol on the coin lists on Unstoppable wallet, you will not see Pol on Polygon but you will see Matic on Polygon. As mentioned above, and as I have said before. You don't need to do anything if the funds were on the Polygon POS network prior to the upgrade. Unstoppable wallet not showing the ticker's name as "POL" doesn't necessarily mean anything. It could be that they're pulling the names from an outdated source. If you're that paranoid about the subject, you can always try and send a small amount to an exchange. Your funds should arrive just fine. The funds were in a the second ETH address, or "account" or whatever you want to call it. When I entered the seed phrase in Unstoppable Wallet it only restores the first ETH account. There's no option to import sub-accounts nor can you import a private key. Nothing that I was able to find, at least. The GUI is pretty straight forward, there aren't many options, and I believe I looked thoroughly enough. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on November 01, 2024, 08:28:09 AM After you click on what that looks like the image above, click on search and search for bitcoin. You will see this: They could have done a better job naming those different bitcoin address types. Experienced bitcoiners know what BIP84 and the rest are, but beginners will have no idea how to differentiate the different BIP codes. Just call it native segwit and place the BIP84 tag somewhere close to it. They probably display that information if you click on the info icon, but I think it should always be visible on the screen. https://talkimg.com/images/2024/10/14/8tBoc.jpeg I had a little bit of funds (ETH and USDT) in an old Altcoin wallet that I wanted to convert to bitcoin so I thought I would goof around with it in Unstoppable Wallet, but I didn't get very far before I was literally stopped in my tracks. No need to import a private key in Metamask, you simply restore the seed and activate as many sub accounts as you like. In fact, if I wanted to extract the private key, I'd have to restore the seed in Metamask to do so. I wasn't in a hurry to get the funds exchanged so I used bisq. I'll have to give eXch a go one of these days, but I've yet to use their service. Speaking of exchanges, another thing I noticed while I was playing with Unstoppable Wallet; they have an option to link a CEX wallet through APIs, but the only CEX they offer is Binance. I have multiple reasons not to use Binance, ethical (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5507692.msg64475316#msg64475316) and financial (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5507645.msg64474017#msg64474017) so to me that only counts as yet another strike against Unstoppable Wallet. True, but if you have any other crypto assets other than Ethereum and Ethereum-based tokens in "accounts" derived from that seed, you decrease the security of all of them by importing the seed in a new hot wallet. By importing only the Ethereum accounts' private key, you won't affect any other assets. In fact, if I wanted to extract the private key, I'd have to restore the seed in Metamask to do so. That depends. If you don't have any Ethereum accounts configured through MetaMask, you need to create one. You could import your existing seed or create a brand-new one. After that, you can add new accounts just by importing individual private keys.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: virasog on November 30, 2024, 05:00:43 PM Unstoppable wallet 0.41 version is out there and if you haven't updated it, its time to upgrade the wallet. Below are the key features / highlights that are updated in this version. Mostly the sync issues seem to be fixed in this upgrade. Sync issues is always a problem in Unstoppable Wallet but it has improved a lot in recent few updates.

Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: LoyceV on December 16, 2024, 08:55:36 AM I've imported my Unstoppable wallet seed in Electrum-LTC. Note: there's a risk in doing this, so don't do it unless you know what you're getting into. For me, this was okay, as I only have a small amount of LTC and no other coins in Unstoppable. Electrum-LTC shows what I think is the correct balance.
I'm disappointed in Unstoppable: this meant I couldn't make a (small) transaction yesterday when I wasn't at home, which is the only reason I have this wallet. Obviously I didn't bring my seed phrase with me, so I couldn't recover it. And Unstoppable itself allows me to create a backup, but not to export the seed or private keys. Meanwhile, Unstoppable's LTC server is still stuck somewhere in February. If I am not mistaken they also support mweb addresses for litecoin, that is very good for privacy. https://github.com/horizontalsystems/unstoppable-wallet-android/releases What do you think about the premium? That will require you to pay money? This is the billing in my country: https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/17/0BSac.jpeg With conversion of 1541 naira to a dollar, that should be almost $26 for monthly offer and $212 for annual offer. Not compulsory. You can still use duress mode without the subscription but you can not edit your password. I can easily create a new wallet and set dress mode. It can be stressful but you can do it instead if you like. These are the premium offers which you can see if you click on the above link: https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/17/0BnLq.jpeg https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/17/0BCqj.jpeg What do you think about the premium and the premium offers? What I like about the update: Quote 3. NEW SECURITY FEATURES We’ve enhanced protection against scams and phishing attacks. The app is now much better at identifying phishing transactions. You won’t see these transactions in your history, and the wallet will warn you if you try to send tokens to a suspicious address. Moreover, when you send a transaction, the wallet cross-checks the recipient address against publicly available blacklists and sanctioned address lists, then alerts you if the address appears on any of them. It won’t block you from sending, but it’s a helpful measure to keep you informed in case you’re unknowingly interacting with a restricted address. I noticed this when I wanted to send bitcoin just now which let me check for the recent update. I think the new security feature is good. Also that those altcoins dust transactions will no more be seen. But I am referring to checking blacklisted addresses to let people know about the address before sending coins to such addresses. Is it good? Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: LoyceV on March 18, 2025, 10:15:49 AM With conversion of 1541 naira to a dollar, that should be almost $26 for monthly offer and $212 for annual offer. I get that they want to earn money, but I can hardly imagine anyone would pay that much for a mobile wallet. I wouldn't even keep $200 in a mobile wallet.I guess I'm not the target audience for these "premium features". I wouldn't want them in my wallet if they're free. This morning I saw an update to Unstoppable Wallet, which fixed the LTC sync issues. It's still not working the way it should: it takes hours for confirmed Litecoin transactions (sending and receiving) to show up in Unstoppable wallet.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Charles-Tim on March 18, 2025, 11:54:45 AM I also think it is expensive. If there is any need, I can easily set up the wallets again as I only have just two wallets there.

I don't really see the point in having a "duress mode": that suggest you keep a high value in your wallet, which doesn't make sense for a hot wallet.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: SFR10 on March 18, 2025, 03:14:10 PM What do you think about the premium and the premium offers? I'm in the same boat as LoyceV on this one... I'd rather pay half of its annual cost and get a decent hardware wallet than pay for a mobile wallet with subscription plans that may or may not come in handy!- FWIW, I didn't like the wording used that describes their scam protection feature (effective)... It intentionally/unintentionally gives more confidence to certain types of users! But I am referring to checking blacklisted addresses to let people know about the address before sending coins to such addresses. Is it good? It can be both good and bad... In theory, those cross-checks could protect you to a certain extent if you're someone who regularly uses centralized platforms, but in practice, it doesn't always work [it heavily depends on if the sources that they're using are the same as the source that centralized platforms use and unfortunately, some of these sources have a habit of flagging addresses for unethical reasons]!Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: earn4passion on March 20, 2025, 09:35:12 AM I downloaded this wallet, but if I try to swap it says "no providers", is the function working? Thanks Let me use bitcoin to explain Do not let it confuse you. If you click on bitcoin, you will see this: https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/20/0WmpP.jpeg You can see that there is no swap button. On the GUI, you will see the swap button at the right side beside 'receive' https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/20/0WMJc.jpeg If you click on it, you will be able to click on bitcoin for swapping but no swapping provider is available. Compare it with ETH: https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/20/0WPSq.jpeg You can see the swapping icon there, unlike bitcoin. That can be easily known which coin you can be able to swap or not. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/20/0WR3j.jpeghttp://https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/20/0WTBG.jpeg Also you see that the wallet displayed it that no provider for swapping coin like bitcoin. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/03/20/0WzXD.jpeg I hope something will be done about it later in a way you will not need to only be able to swap coins and its tokens but swapping coins to coins. It is available on some wallet but which I can not recommend. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Forsyth Jones on March 21, 2025, 08:03:49 PM I also think it is expensive. If there is any need, I can easily set up the wallets again as I only have just two wallets there. Today when I opened the Unstopabble app (which doesn't have any wallets created), I saw the banner highlighted in the app's settings. The features that caught my attention the most were: Advanced Search - Discover Trending Tokens Track Trends - Trade Smarter, Profit Faster. In other words, the wallet starts sending you insights or signals about tokens that are appreciating/depreciating at the "best time" according to them? So is this a feature designed for those who like to trade? Has anyone who has tried the premium features seen any increase in their investment profits with this? I'm a bit skeptical about the effectiveness and quality of these premium features, and I wouldn't be willing to pay the price they ask for the subscription. But I'm willing to hear opinions from those who have decided to take the plunge and test whether it's really worth it. I don't think paying for a subscription to a hotwallet is worth it. Edit: I don't like using wallets with UI pollution, e.g: - Support for shitcoins (which besides taking up developers' time in developing the wallet for multiple-coins, can open security holes in the code for one or all of them). - Exchange swap features: This damn button is usually next to or in the middle of the functions: send, receive, etc. Now, if I want to exchange a coin, there should be a specific window/option for that, without polluting the UI. I hardly ever do swaps, and when I do, I never do it through a wallet, so why insist on putting the damn button next to the essential functions? - In my opinion, a wallet should be simple, in the sense of: having a UI with the main functions: transaction history, send, receive. But also containing "advanced" functions, exactly like work on Electrum, Bitcoin Core, Sparrow, Wasabi/Gingerwallet We'll use Ledger Live as an example, that trash is full of graphic pollution, most of it being shitcoin resources, even though I'm an "old monkey" with years of experience, I feel lost when using it. Trezor with its graphical interface (Suite) already has a cleaner and more pleasant UI and with advanced resources, even though it's not ideal. Maybe it would be a good idea to open a topic just to discuss these points. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: virasog on March 28, 2025, 05:51:04 PM Well, by now, we already know that version 0.42 is out, and this time, there are a lot of changes being claimed by the Unstoppable Wallet. I have tried to present it exactly as it appears on the app. The premium subscription option doesn't attract me as it suits more to those who are active traders and want to swap coins more often.

I don't think anyone can keep up with scammers creating new addresses, but this thing with blacklisted addresses is getting crazy.Nobody knows what algorithms are used for this, and nobody can see any list of blacklisted addresses with more information. (as every new wallet have a separate seed phrase). It depends on a few things... Thats a great help. Another thing when i create a new wallet why it is saying "recommended" on the 12-word passphrase? Even though a 12-word seed phrase provides 128 bits of entropy [as opposed to 256 bits on a 24-word seed phrase], it provides sufficient security in the real world [it's like adding a bullet-proof window to a car that already has a bullet-proof window (little to no differences)]. The recommended label is probably due to the fact that it's easier to properly back it up without messing up the order [a 12-word seed phrase with a passphrase is more than enough].https://i.ibb.co/Vczv0gWg/passphrase.jpg Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: satscraper on May 09, 2025, 05:24:32 PM or it is better to to create 12 words recovery phrase along with an extended passphrase? Moreover, 12 words is easier if someone wants to memorize them (never forget to make physical backups, memorizing the mnemonic is just a plus). The passphrase is very important, because even if the generated seed has low entropy, I can increase the security of the mnemonic by extending it using passphrase. For passphrase generation, I recommend using 6 random words or more. Random words of 6 words have, for example, the same entropy as a password like "#\KL`@cZ3W*-", I usually think that 8 or more is great. Do not trust your brain to remember the 12 words phrases and not writing them down somewhere. There are many chances that one may forget all or any word of the phrases and you will be deprived of your money stored in that wallet. DO NOT TAKE THAT RISK. Secondly, when you extend the phrases, it is better to add three to four easy words rather than complex words with special characters etc. Easy English words will do the purpose. Keep the things as simple as possible. If seeds are created with low entropy then bruteforcing would require less time and the passphrase may not be just enough to stop the attack unless we are talking about a long sentence used as the 13th word. But I don't recommend either of these practices, it's better use the wallet itself to create the valid phrase whether it's Bip39 or others and the extra word can be something that you can remember easily, so it's better to be 8 characters than 8 words. ;)For passphrase generation, I recommend using 6 random words or more. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Forsyth Jones on May 11, 2025, 08:06:03 PM Moreover, 12 words is easier if someone wants to memorize them (never forget to make physical backups, memorizing the mnemonic is just a plus). 1 - Write down the mnemonic phrase on a piece of paper (or steel plates for greater durability). 2 - Write down the passphrase somewhere else offline, in a separate offline location away from the mnemonic phrase, because if an attacker finds your mnemonic phrase, but your funds are protected by a hidden wallet generated by the passphrase, he will not be able to steal from you. 3 - Make copies of the backup (if in digital format, make sure to encrypt it). If seeds are created with low entropy then bruteforcing would require less time and the passphrase may not be just enough to stop the attack unless we are talking about a long sentence used as the 13th word. But I don't recommend either of these practices, it's better use the wallet itself to create the valid phrase whether it's Bip39 or others and the extra word can be something that you can remember easily, so it's better to be 8 characters than 8 words. ;) Extending the seed, extra word = BIP39 passphrase, they're the same thing. ;)I recommend reading this informative guide [https://www.useapassphrase.com/] to better understand the use of passphrases. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Findingnemo on May 12, 2025, 07:30:36 AM ~ Extending the seed, extra word = BIP39 passphrase, they're the same thing. ;)BTW, thanks for the link. :-* Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Forsyth Jones on May 13, 2025, 12:04:22 PM Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I am pointing out that the low entropy of a seed and extending a low entropy seed with a strong 13th word is not a substitute. So, I was saying it's better to pick random seeds created using the tools designed for it instead of picking on our own since we are prone to making choices that are easy for the computer to crack. Yes, security is never too much, this was just an example of how a passphrase makes a big difference to security.BTW, thanks for the link. :-* It's not that I'm recommending creating a low-entropy seed with repeated words, for example: "bacon bacon bacon (12x)" and compensating the security with a strong passphrase. However, a wallet protected by a passphrase is a new wallet (new set of keys) compared to a wallet with an empty passphrase, so if I create a wallet with a 128-bit passphrase, I would generate a new wallet with 128 bits of entropy. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: SFR10 on May 14, 2025, 10:01:51 PM is it only on phones? why there is no web style? Yes, it's available for mobile phones and tablets [for now]... Web wallets aren't that secure [only use them for insignificant amounts]!- As a workaround, you can also use Unstoppable wallet on your desktop, but you must rely on an Android emulator to be safe & secure (not recommended). Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on June 06, 2025, 08:19:10 AM Thats a great help. Another thing when i create a new wallet why it is saying "recommended" on the 12-word passphrase? Isn't the 24-word passphrase is more secure and shouldn't they recommend that ??? or it is better to to create 12 words recovery phrase along with an extended passphrase? The recommendation is not for a passphrase. It's for the seed/recovery phrase. 12-word seed phrases provide you with 128 bits of entropy. 24-word seed phrases give you 256 bits on entropy. It's easy to see that the security is greater with the latter. However, bitcoin private keys only have 128 bits of entropy. If those ever become vulnerable, Bitcoin is already doomed to fail despite some wallets providing 256 bits on entropy. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Charles-Tim on June 10, 2025, 01:43:22 PM I have noticed this since a long time on Unstoppable wallet. I waited to know if there will be any changes but I did not see any changes till now.
Cancel transaction is still good but to increase the fee to doublespend a coin is affected. If you want to increase the fee, it will display 'unable to replace' https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/10/UdT9Ov.jpeg https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/10/UdTgCH.jpeg https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/10/UdTivg.jpeg I used 1 sat/vbyte which was 110 sat as fee, but I wanted to increase it to 220 sat and later 330 sat, but you see the error it displayed. This has been happening for a long time and it has been since I wanted to increase the fee on Unstoppable wallet some months ago. Cancel transaction is not affected but just to bump fee part of it that is going the error. Another thing is that people will prefer increase in the fee to be in the fee rate which is sat/vbyte than to be in sat or bitcoin. The fee is set in sat/vbyte while making the transaction, then why change it when someone wants to increase the fee or make use of cancel transaction. You must definitely have an option to enter how much you wish to pay in sats per vByte and not in total. Each transaction is different, depending on the number of inputs & outputs, addresses, and scripts. It makes no sense to have the user enter the total transaction fee amount instead of using the same approach that other wallets use. Weird choice they made there. What happens if you press the info logo located above the line where you entered your fees? Does it display any additional information, like sats/vByte? Have you checked the settings for a way to change this? If I have coins on then wallet again, I will do that to know the information it displayed but I am sure that I pressed on it and not about changing it to fee rate instead of fee.Have you checked the settings for a way to change this? Yes I checked it.The fee is in sat/vbyte when broadcasting a new transaction, but the fee is in sat when you want to bump the fee or cancel the transaction. I also noticed another error while making use of two devices for the same wallet, if you make use of another device to broadcast a transaction, the other device balance may later not correct as it will not include the transaction as spent. I thought it could be because of the network/internet connection, so the wallet couldn't sync properly. When I ran the Bitcoin node, it needed to download the blocks to get updated. At first, I thought Unstoppable Wallet did something similar to get updated with the network. But if I am not wrong, the wallet does not need to download the blocks, unlike the nodes. All it needed was to get some information from the blockchain and update the wallet balance. I'm unsure if this is too hard for the developers to fix. The sync issue seems to be the known one.

It is also very possible that there will not be hard fork relating to this but what I think might cause hardfork later might be what caused it in the past like after a quantum resistant algorithm, some people may need hardfork for cheaper transaction. If the quantum resistant algorithm is still more about how segwit is right now in fee or having lower fee, there may not be any problem. Also this is just a speculation.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on June 16, 2025, 03:25:10 PM When altcoins developers are building quantum resistant algorithm, so why would it take bitcoin developers to build one? You mean as it can lead to hard fork? Many altcoin projects are centralized or not as nearly decentralized as Bitcoin. You often have a leader, owner, a president or CEO that calls the shots. Sometimes you have a foundation or a council that makes the decisions. With all that it's easier to make a decision. If you have one or a handful of individuals who will make the decision about what direction to take. With Bitcoin, you don't have that one person or a small group that will lead everyone. Many more interested parties are involved. Significant decisions made about the future need a majority vote in favor to be implemented. That's why it's much more difficult to make changes and introduce new features into Bitcoin. We must remain optimistic that egos will be put aside when it is time to make a decision that impacts everyone and everything. Especially if it's a decision that could signal the end of Bitcoin if we don't get it right. According to the information I once read by Quside, the platform that developed new generation quantum technologies for connectivity and efficient computation. There's already a team working on quantum cryptography (like code based cryptography, lattice based cryptography) and post-quantum cryptography, which are said to be classical algorithms to combat quantum decryption, so I don't see any reason why it will be hard to have the creation of quantum resistant algorithms in Bitcoin. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: Pmalek on June 17, 2025, 07:16:09 AM Yes, it is hard to speculate how much time or years it will take before the quantum computer that can break entropy, but it is easier for the decentralized Bitcoin ecosystem to adopt quantum resistant algorithm. It's not as easy as saying we created this quantum-resistant algorithm and tomorrow we are merging it into Bitcoin. That's not how it works. You are going to see BIPs with proposals to introduce the new schemes. Developers will have to review it, test it, get community feedback. Bugs and vulnerabilities would have to be looked for and corrected. All this can take a long time. Remember Segwit, the blocksize wars, and the aftermath? Remember Taproot and how long that took? A decision has to be made if the new algorithm will be introduced through a soft or hard fork. Either way, there will be new addresses and scripts and changes to signatures. Everyone will have to move their coins from previous quantum-vulnerable scripts to the new quantum-resistant one. The bigger the change, the more drama, fighting, and resistance you can expect. Again, think back to the Segwit and Bitcoin Cash days. And then all of the software we use with Bitcoin has to be updated to support the new quantum-safe scheme and new address format. That goes for nodes, miners, exchanges, etc. Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: suzanne5223 on June 17, 2025, 02:11:42 PM Yes, it is hard to speculate how much time or years it will take before the quantum computer that can break entropy, but it is easier for the decentralized Bitcoin ecosystem to adopt quantum resistant algorithm. Quantum computers can be used in the future to derive private keys from public keys and this is why the vulnerabilities need to be addressed ahead of time. Imagining someone stealing the Bitcoin you accumulated for years in one day? About the decision to be made, I believe what we'll likely see is a soft fork for the implementation of quantum-resistant signature algorithm. Are there people that will even want to make use of it? I can not be part of them. I prefer not to use such things since their accuracy heavily depends on matching sources between platforms.Title: Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} Post by: OmegaStarScream on August 20, 2025, 01:21:22 PM A new update has been pushed a couple of days ago with UI redesign and most importantly, Monero support. Users can also connect to their own nodes. More features (for monero users) are coming soon: https://x.com/unstoppablebyhs/status/1957441352289165460
It also looks like the wallet has started to implement DEXes, bridges, Defi for earning, etc. so I would imagine that those things would help fund the project even further. It is good they finally added support for Monero, but I think it is just basic support for now, and if I am not mistaken you can only use one monero address per account.I also don't see monero is listed in their swap exchange service, and I they should certainly add it if they can. There is no more syncing issues for most coins, including for monero. |
