I think this is actually pretty genius.  With one change: it shouldn't just say bitcoin, it should be a URL, like bitcoingonewild.com or something, so people can find the huge gallery/rating system. 

Make it clear that all images submitted are open-source/creative commons share-alike/freely distributable, and people will repost the good ones (and be unable to take out the URL and firstbits address) on their own sites.

I'd send some bitcoins towards this... for the good of bitcoin, of course.

I should change my example uses of firstbits. Good for remembering and saying your address over the phone, and writing them on your naked body to solicit donations.

Something to remember is that a typo means the coins are gone. Make sure it is very legible and no one could misinterpret it.

Someone should really make a wallet that has built in vanity firstbits generation for a nominal fee.

If someone uploads CP to reddit, mods have to report it, kill it with fire. Immediately. Hopefully they have the ability to clean up their system. Other than that, the uploader is the one facing liability. As a service provider, the mods and reddit are not liable as long as they remediate and report the problem.

I agree with most of your points... but it doesn't cost anything to write a first bits on your body, so I dont see it dieing out... If even one person responds with some bitcoins, writing out the firstbits makes it worth while. And it makes it self fulfilling.. If one girl is doing it, she's going to be inclined to think shes missing out on something and do it too. And once the girls see any potential value in it, it will carry over to web cams, and any one of several thousand other outlets for this kind of activity.

2 things: btc.to probably isn't the best, firstbits are more reliable I would think. btc.to has a database of bitcoin addresses linked to a URL, whereas firstbits is possible to use even if the firstbits website is offline.

Second thing: for the QR code if you really want it, just append /qr to the end of the btc.to address, like this: https://btc.to/444/qr

A firstbit address always starts with the number "1" which, in and of itself, is eye-catching. New viewers will be asking themselves, "WTF is up with these chicks having numbers on their body and they all start with the number one?" Once answered, they say to themselves, "I get it, now!" I really like FirstBits... but it's fatal flaw, especially with regard to newcomers, is the requirement that the address exists in the blockchain. If there is anyway to overcome this, PLEASE make it happen. Also, the ease of making a QR code by appending /qr is a killer feature of btc.to. If this can be replicated, this needs to happen too.

But this endeavour, at least while people are still learning *everything* about Bitcoin, the firehose of information needs to be turned down a bit so the noobs are not overwhelmed.

I'm not advising girls to NOT use first bits... but they can adopt this after they've picked up the basics. For /r/girlsgonebitcoin though, I think it's in our best interest to promote btc.to until they get firstbits on their own.

If you really want to make this viral, you should make a requirement that all submissons to /r/GirlsGoneBitcoin be reposts from /r/gonewild.  This means that in order to get your money, you HAVE to show your btc information (and what God gave you) to all of /r/gonewild.  Also, less moderation for us (gonewild worries about the naked parts, we just worry about the btc parts).

/r/GirlsGoneBitcoin is the funding hub, but the content should primarily live in /r/Gonewild.

She took the initiative to learn what she could about Bitcion in a short time and wrap it all up in a pretty little package. Even if you don't care about Reddit people should drop her a donation.  We need Bitcoin to expand beyond miner computer nerds (no offense intended).  She is about as far from a miner computer nerd as I can imagine.  It will take 1000 people just like her in every aspect of commerce to move Bitcoin into the mainstream.

Her video & guide is awesome.  You couldn't have done a better job using an ad agency and paying 1000 BTC.  Let me clarify that yes the ad agency tutorial would be more professional but it also would come across as an ad.  The informal nature of the video and guide is worth way more.

For instawallet yes.  That is why it is "instant".  Your wallet = url.  No logins, no accounts, no usernames, no passwords.

Your wallet is your URL.  Your URL is your wallet.

If the content rules/info page is going to recommend instawallet it should include a pair of warnings:
1) If anyone else learns your instawallet URL they can steal your bitcoins (treat it like cash).

I think the lesson from the Instawallet thing is NOT that Instawallet should change, but simply that people need to be careful with taking screenshots of account information :)  Instawallet's convenience is awesome... don't use it for a savings pile, but for quick transactions and little campaigns, it's perfect. I hope they never change it.

This does create an interesting phenomenon with public transactions. Everyone can see how much each girl makes - for better or worse. Now if someone has tons of coffee available and nothing else to do tonight, they should make a webpage, like a ladder of the girls. Something graphical, so that girls move up and down on the ladder and the top earners will be in the spotlight.

I've not been able to read to the end of the thread because I've been busy 'researching' the photos, but it turns out that Bitcoins will be taken from your instawallet address without it affecting your instawallet balance.  Like when you deposit coins to MtGox, if you check in blockexplorer you'll see the coins disappearing shortly afterwards even though they're still in your MtGox account.

I think I freed a kidney stone during the process and soon will be singing Islands in the Stream. I spoke with the owner about Bitcoin, and he seems keen on the idea of using it in his three current establishments, albeit he'll have to run it by the other investors.

Related: I have a niece that works at a strip joint in South Bend, Indiana. How could such an establishment/dancers/barkeeps/etc. incorporate Bitcoin? My brother, her dad, knows the proprietors, thus could be an easy sell, but would still need ammo.

You put a dollar in your bank account.  Someone withdraws a dollar after you and gets your dollar bill.  You still have a dollar in your account even though someone withdrew "your" dollar.

The bank doesn't have a separate cash drawer for every customer.  Neither does instawallet.

Every 'deposit' you see in blockexplorer is a real donation.  Not every 'withdrawal' you see is a withdrawal by the owner of that instawallet.

Can someone make a thing like the p2pool "patron_sendmany" that distributes a donation to all addresses in the GW tracker whose balance is below a user defined threshold.

Inputs: total donation, threshold, optional minimum payment
Output: {"address1": donation/n, "address2": donation/n, ... , "addressn": donation/n}
where address1 - addressn are all the girls addresses that have a balance of less than threshold.
If donation/n is less than minimum payment, then a random selection of enough addresses to just exceed minimum payment is used (this to avoid bitdust).

Bounty address could do this, after the original bounty is distributed, as an additional encouragement.

But my account balance wouldn't show a dollar being sent elsewhere from my account. My account doesn't show individual dollars as entities, they only show balances. Equivalently in Bitcoin, there is no such thing as individual bitcoins with their own entity, there's just transactions. So what is instawallet doing there? Still confused.

Blockchain =/= view of YOUR (or HER) account.

If you deposit funds at say Instawallet or MtGox or xyz bitcoin bank there will be tx that occur as the entity moves coins around, combines them, and handles withdrawals that don't correspond to YOUR indvidual account.

Nothing weird about what is going on @ Instawallet.  If you deposit funds @ Mt.Gox the same thing happens.

No online entity keeps all the funds in the deposit address.  They combine funds to be able to take some of that OFFLINE so only a small portion is available to hackers.

Her losing coins and the Instawallet tx in block chain have nothing to do with each other.

don't know why you're confused by this... it's the same thing that happens at exchanges like mtgox.

even though you get a personalised deposit address, coins come out of that address to pay other people's withdrawals.



try to follow this...  

1. instawallet launches and is a brand new web site

2. two people each get an address, and each deposit 10 btc to 'their' address.

3. person 1 decides to withdraw 8 btc: this causes 10 btc to come out of his address, and 2 btc of that gets sent to a 'change' address belonging to instawallet. this change address does not correspond to any customer addresses.

4. person 1 checks block explorer and says WTF i only withdrew 8 btc but it says 10 btc sent.

5. person 2 decides to withdraw 2 btc, this causes instawallet to send it from the change address, since it has a 2 btc transaction there.

6. person 2 checks block explorer and says WTF i withdrew 2 btc but my address still says 10 received and none sent.

I see. So stats based on the public address won't be accurate as her balance is split by several instawallet-controlled addresses. That was the whole premise, wasn't it? I mean, the script posted before looks at her transactions based on blockchain.info while that's not their actual balance, though it may roughly be.

Trying to determine CURRENT balance based on blockchain won't work for the reasons given.  The address instawallet (or any exchange) gives you is simply the deposit address.  So theft or no theft there is no way to know how much or when funds were transfered or current balance.

Still any script that looks for tx TO the deposit address is looking at how much was GIVEN not the current BALANCE.  The amount donated/given will be exactly accurate however no public stat can tell you someone's balance (unless funds never move).

That's supposing instawallet doesn't use that account to give change from others' transactions, right? because, since they're book-keeping in a parallel balance, that could be the case.

Well, I guess there's no good reason to do that.

If she checks her instawallet balance, the 1BTC will still be there.

What blockexplorer is doing is the equivalent of reporting on the movement of individual chunks of bitcoins.  Your bank doesn't keep track of where the individual dollar bills go, so there's no equivalent of the blockexplorer report available from the bank.

What instawallet is doing is giving each user their own bitcoin address to deposit to, so that they know which instawallet account to credit when people send coins.  But all the coins end up in one big bitcoin wallet at instawallet.  When someone else comes along and makes a withdrawal from instawallet, they will make the withdrawal from their bitcoin client, which has access to everyone's funds.  The client will decide which coins to use, and will probably use coins deposited by someone else, just like the bank give people dollar bills they got from other customers.

Instawallet keeps track of how much is in each user's account, much like the bank does, but neither the bank nor instawallet makes any effort to make sure that they keep each users funds separate.

Basically, the bottom line is don't look at blockexplorer and expect to see anything meaningful about account balances.  All your seeing is details about the movements in and out of individual bitcoin addresses, which don't correspond very closely to instawallet accounts.

Well, looks like that would be the simplest behaviour to implement so I guess that's the case.

I applaud everyone on their initiative.  But this is still way more complicated than it has to be.  I'm sure we bitcoin enthusiasts can handle it but the girls posting are having problems and money is being lost.  

http://btctip.com uses the twitter API to allow users to load their account, then tip people using tweets.  Those tipped can log in with their twitter account and then withdraw the bitcoins that they were tipped.  Does the reddit API allow for something similar?  I'm imagining something where I can load the site with a couple coins, then the site tips submitters of content that I upvoted with an amount I set (maybe .01 bitcoins per upvote?).  And it scans my comments the way btctip.com scans tweets for a code for tipping if I want to tip more than the upvote amount.  Then whoever I tipped can log in to the tipping site via the reddit API and withdraw their coins.

Anybody familiar with the reddit API know if this is possible?

They would have to go out of their way to use specific user addresses for change, and it would serve no purpose to do so.  The client makes up a new change address for every transaction, so it's reasonable to think that instawallet isn't using user deposit addresses for change.

If the wallet and conversion are to complicated for some of them, bit-pay makes it easy. They handle the wallet and conversion and wire the $ to your bank account. Just got off the phone with Tony... For this particular genre, we need to target the porn conventions... I'm going to keep my eyes out for upcoming events and see what booth costs are and we'll go from there.

I'm not a big fan of this operation because I would rather bitcoin be associated with reputable industries. The drug and illegal activity association is bad enough, now we want to associate it with amateur porn? But that aside, I think it meets an actual need and will succeed as long as bitcoin itself does. Whether or not this actually helps bitcoin succeed remains to be seen.

My suggestion is to find a camgirl forum and do some advertising there. The savvy camgirls would love to put a bitcoin address in the background so they can take as many direct donations as possible. I'd also suggest convincing a few of these girls to post on 4chan and any other image boards that you can think of. Get a little bit of momentum going from the attention seekers who suddenly realize they can make money at the same time and this thing will seriously take off.

Is it like a chain letter?  I get you 2 more girls and within 30 days I get 25,000 girls in the mail?  Do they come with their own supply of food and contraception?

In my mind, it unboubtably will help. Look at what's happening... for the first time, a whole genre of non-nerds are waking up to the idea of using a p2p digital currency and trusting it as a store and transfer of value. Now these girls have some bitcoin and they dont want to buy video cards and nerd hardware. they want beauty supplies, clothes, and jewelry. this dramatically affects the bitcoin economy. without a doubt.

The pimpcoin card works like the bitpay deposit card, but with a mobile interface to check balances and setup the direct deposit and everything. We move the bitcoins around shortly after receiving them, so querying the girls address won't disclose much.

Both options are very important. I have to chime in as someone who has been naked on the internet for almost a friggin decade now. I may purchase some "sexy" things with bitcoins, however I make a living on the internets and it would be hard to keep me from "cashing out" when I need to pay bills. No matter how much I would just like to spend in the bitcoin community to support businesses who accept them, I gotta eat and have electricity. Shopping is getting pretty good, also for shortened addresses just one letter change makes a world of difference. It is a valid concern.

I expect the future will be unbranded content delivered via a site that has profiles etc. Even I'll fall out of love with cardboard rectangles with firstbits on them eventually.

Besides potential shopping heists. A picture is forever even if instawallet or other provider is not. You never know when an image will go viral and bring income for a long time so using your own wallet or something like blockchain.info where you control the keys is a good idea.
