1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DOPECOIN : SMOKE EXCHANGE NEARING BETA LAUNCH on: April 19, 2018, 05:04:46 PM
I think a lot of the questions will be answered at the upcoming live event in the next few hours. There wil be some major announcements from the dopecoin dev team. I think they will also have some surprises for us. Watch this coin close, even 4/20 is coming soon.

what is the signifance of 4/20 with reference to dope coin?
4/20 is the date adopted by cannabis users as their own holiday (Wikipedia article), so it follows that most marijuana related businesses or coins would choose this date to make big announcements.

1) Dopcoin can be used only for legal use of Marijuana ?
All of the business connections DopeCoin has made have been with the legal marijuana industry. But of course, ultimately it can be used for whatever two parties agree on just like any good decentralized cryptocurrency Wink

154 XVG about 12.30 USD right now vs. 9.99 USD with Credit Card. Sounds fair having in mind that Creditcard might have some additionally processing costs added for the CC Holder.

Thanks for posting. the 23% cost increase over fiat its bad imo.

Trust me, no one using these sites will care...  Grin

No one using these sites is going to care about "anonymity" enough to pay the extra costs and jump through the hoops necessary to acquire Verge and pay with it over the method they already use. First you have to acquire XVG which will either involve buying it (and incurring a fee from the service you use, provided your bank/cc even allows it) or mining it (which incurs higher energy costs since most consumer PCs aren't designed to generate large hash rates while efficiently using power). Then you might have to go through the process of converting a crypto you bought/hold into XVG, which incurs exchange fees. Then on top of all that, they're charging you more than if you'd just paid with your cc.

All this so, what, a charge doesn't appear on your statement that only you see anyway? Paying extra to put your dirty laundry on a public ledger that's copied on thousands of computers doesn't seem like great value. I realize that a lot of people's knee jerk reaction is that this "partnership" will lead to mass adoption of Verge, but there is very little evidence to suggest that anyone who already pays for porn will switch to paying with XVG and even less to suggest that anyone who doesn't normally pay will begin to.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: April 17, 2018, 09:17:31 PM
The big thing that many are failing to notice is actually the mass adoption of the cryptocurrency.
You're fooling yourself if you think this will lead to "mass adoption" of Verge. Anyone who already pays for porn really has no reason to switch from fiat/cc/whatever to Verge unless they already have some. Acquiring Verge is just another hoop to jump through before you get your wank material, plus it introduces a much higher risk factor as your Verge could lose value before you pay for your subscription. Most people won't see the value in taking the time to find the best place to buy crypto (assuming their bank/cc even allows it) and figuring out how to convert it into XVG. Even less will see the appeal in mining it, seeing as most PCs aren't really built to generate the large hash rates and low energy costs necessary to accumulate a meaningful amount of Verge in a reasonable amount of time. I'd also like to think that most of the people who pay for porn are grown-ass adults who can take responsibility for themselves so there's very little reason to "anonymize" your porn subscriptions unless you're hiding it from a significant other or family member (in which case you need therapy, not cryptocurrency). It could also be argued that using Verge will make your subscription less anonymous since it's been proven that coins can be tracked even through privacy addresses, and you're adding your transaction to a public ledger that is copied on thousands of PCs. But I digress.

Anyone who doesn't usually pay for porn has no reason to start paying for it because of this. Adding Verge as a payment option doesn't change the content offered. It also doesn't change the fact that almost all paid content can be found for free if you know where to look. And again, it's another hoop to jump through that a lot of people won't want to deal with. At best, Pornhub/Brazzers/etc will probably get a few new subscriptions out of the Verge bag holders who figure they might as well use some of the XVG that they'll continue to hold as the value fluctuates around 1000 sat (at the time of this writing... 927 sat for all you "never again will XVG go below 1000" idiots). I highly doubt any meaningful percentage of their existing subscriptions will switch to XVG.

Weekly Update (catch-up edition)

Total market cap change: Up 9%

Top 5 changes: HempCoin (THC) moves +1 to #2, Paragon (PRG) moves -1 to #3, Tokes (TKS) moves +1 to #4, DopeCoin (DOPE) moves -1 to #5

Development changes: Coming soon

The marijuana coin market has remained remarkably steady over the three weeks since I last posted an update. As BTC has seemingly shaken off its bearish trend, many alts are starting to experience growth once again. It's great that this development has occurred during this time of the year, as I'm sure many of you know April 20th (aka "4/20") is a popular date for marijuana enthusiasts around the world. Many events and announcements will be held on that day in the marijuana industry, and the marijuana-related cryptocurrencies will be no different. Plenty of hype is building up around updates being teased by some of the top coins in this thread, so now time will tell whether investors will puff or pass.

News updates coming tonight!
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Comparison of Marijuana-themed Coins on: April 13, 2018, 02:57:06 PM
In my opinion, such projects overshadow the entire crypto market so I can not support any of them. And they promise to make hard for and some small updates like conferences by showing new project partners and new whitepaper.

That doesnt make any sense.
Apart from the gibberish at the end, it certainly doesn't help that all he did was slightly edit a comment from the first page  Wink

But to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was trying to articulate an opinion rather than spamming to get his post count up... A lot of the comments left here seem to express negative feelings towards cryptocurrencies with a "drug" theme despite their intention to work with legal businesses, though not one of them has been able to respond to me asking why they're ok with supporting Bitcoin or other coins that have been adopted heavily by the illegal substance market (and don't get me started on all the worthless money grabbing scam tokens that they push without batting an eye). Also I doubt a lot of these people would feel the same if they had followed a tip from some high profile shill like McAfee and ended up holding big bags of these MMJ coins.

Anyway... Weekly updates will resume in ~2 hours and lots of news/development statuses will be updated tonight.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: April 11, 2018, 09:41:12 PM
A new Article about Verge in one of the most important Computer Magazins of Germany.
Maybe you can use Google to translate
http://www.computerbild.de/artikel/cb-News-Internet-Verge-XVG-Bitcoin-Partnerschaft-Pornhub-Paypal-21492239.html
Titel: Hammer deal in progress: is Verge (XVG) the new Bitcoin?
I love the list of partners people keep coming up with... Facebook, Amazon, Mastercard, Wikipedia, Ebay, and now PornHub and PayPal?! Not a single one of these would want their reputation tarnished by partnering with a heavily shilled crypto that just underwent an attack that resulted in millions of XVG being instamined. I know a lot of you want to jump in and say "but they fixed it" and before you do, consider the following:

  • Facebook is already dealing with a lot of people leaving after their most recent data leak. Partnering with a crypto that was very recently shown to be vulnerable would be PR suicide.
  • Amazon would 100% make their own blockchain before partnering with ANY crypto.
  • Mastercard, Ebay, and Paypal all deal with people's "real" money directly. If they were to partner with a cryptocurrency (a concept which the majority of people still don't really understand, remember) that just recently was attacked, many people would lose faith in their security and would no longer trust these companies with their money.
  • I can't even fathom why anyone would think Wikipedia or PornHub would be logical choices. There is no common sense to these speculations.

In all likelihood, this mystery "partner" is probably some advertising agency or another crypto business. Crypto in general is not nearly mainstream enough for any coin other than maybe the top 2-3 coins to be forming partnerships with huge, established corporations.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Comparison of Marijuana-themed Coins on: April 11, 2018, 09:27:38 PM
Alright I've fallen further behind than I'd like, so a huge update will be coming this Friday. Lots of activity and hype leading up to 4/20, a popular date for many of these coins and their users Wink
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DOPECOIN : SMOKE EXCHANGE NEARING BETA LAUNCH on: April 11, 2018, 09:25:33 PM
DOPECOIN is 100% the best investment in the MMJ  crypto space for 3 simple reasons.  Development team is phenomenal. The price of the coin / circulating Supply has the best ratio. And 3, it has functional use, and a staking wallet that actually works. Making it better to hold investments in dope then a bank. At this price your Going to feel like you robbed a bank.  Anyone doing a short amount of research will come to the conclusion  that Dope is untouchable and undervalued going into a critical time for crypto currency.

POSTMAN THE DOPEMAN.

I've been paying pretty close attention to a lot of marijuana-related coins for some time now, and I agree. I think the development team is actually this coin's biggest advantage over other MMJ coins. In this thread it's pretty common to see 2-3 members of the core team posting updates and answering questions, whereas many other devs remain overwhelmingly silent. They also seem to be interested in making actual progress towards real-world adoption unlike some other major coins whose idea of progress seems to be adding masternodes (which is totally not a trendy cash grab... yeeeaaah). Shade-throwing aside, I'm very excited to see what the future holds for Dope, SMX, and CryptoBillings Wink
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UFO] UNIFORM FISCAL OBJECT | CORE 0.13 RELEASED! on: April 11, 2018, 04:58:28 PM
Uniform Fiscal Object are now in a lock Segwit phase. When it will reached the lock block 1.290.240 we're going to join a Lighting network platform and / or other exchange / payment methods. For now the coin is listed into classics exchanges and a Dex platform (CryptoBridge).

Awesome news! Can't wait to see that new logo all over more exchanges. Nice to see it's already updated on coinmarketcap (love 'em or hate 'em, it's still a great place to get more exposure)

What day will the signature bounty posts be counted up each week? Asking since the signature codes weren't put up right away at the start of the bounty
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TZC] TrezarCoin Super-Secure-PoW/PoS on: April 09, 2018, 05:17:56 PM
Just curious. Would it be possible to single mine to the wallet. Similar to the qt wallet (just changing the conf file)?

Not sure what you are asking?

If you are asking about solo-mining, yes that is possible.
It is mentioned along with some instructions in the guides on the TZC website.

Yes, I meant solo mining. Thanks, I will check the guide out.

Why not mine to zpool.ca and get paid out in TZC. that way you get more TZC for your power.

Why should I get more when I have to pay a fee? And there are often issues with many pools. The payouts are too low or the pools are down (ddos or just not maintained) for example.
While solo mining is supported, the network hash is currently over 3 GH/s which means you're going to have a hard time finding a block by yourself unless you've got an enormous amount of hashing power at your disposal.

I used to mine TZC on altminer and I'd get payouts of a few TZC every couple hours (I don't have any mining rigs or anything, just a few computers with decent GPUs). I've since switched to Zpool, which works differently than other pools. Instead of mining a specific coin you choose which algorithm to mine. The pool then determines which coin in that algorithm is currently the most profitable and has you mine that coin. You can choose to receive payouts in any of the coins they mine, even if it's a coin from a different algorithm than the one you're mining. I've been mining neoscrypt and m7m with payouts in TZC that are 2-3x bigger than the ones I used to get from altminer even though the fees on Zpool are ~1% higher. Zpool is also one of the better maintained pools I've seen that doesn't require registration. Crackfoo is active in their BCT thread and they usually communicate pretty well with peoples' questions and issues.

So I guess it's up to you to determine if your time and electricity is better spent trying to get lucky by yourself or getting some small fees taken out of more consistent payments from a pool.

Amazon,Visa you guys are crazy Roll Eyes
Yeah, anyone who thinks that a coin prone to pump n dump schemes (*cough*John McAfee*cough*) and more recently network attacks that resulted in hundreds of thousands of coins being fraudulently mined has any chance of partnering with businesses the size of Amazon or Visa isn't really using their common sense Wink

It is not the attack that worries me. Devs are. It looks like that they don't understand what is happening.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3256693.msg34004928#msg34004928

Sad situation.
Wow. I had read their initial response where they essentially tried to say there was no problem until they claimed to have fixed the problem, but this seems much worse. Looks like the dev team has their head much farther up their asses than I had thought. Also 20 million instamined Shocked

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Reward to the bounty hunter with ETH, whether to reduce the dumping price ico? on: April 05, 2018, 02:58:19 PM
In my experience, bounties that promise to pay out win BTC/ETH rather than their own token either don't pay at all or end much earlier than they were supposed to Undecided

So I guess I'd rather take my chances with getting a token and having the price drop rather than not getting paid at all.

Twitter announcements

We had a small hash attack that lasted about 3 hours earlier this morning, it's been cleared up now. We will be implementing even more redundancy checks for things of this nature in the future!

https://twitter.com/vergecurrency/status/981578693062610950

opened that twitter message and saw that there are several compensations for the attack. Sent 1.8 Eth to it in hope to get some compensation but now i think it is a scam.

Anybody any idea if its real or a scam and if it is a scam how to get the ETH back?  Undecided
Why on earth would Verge initiate a compensation program that involved people sending them Ethereum in order to get more Ethereum back? If you're not going to examine the twitter name close enough to see that it's an obvious fake, at least use a little common sense.

Second is that the new wallet is tagged as a trojan by Windows Defender (Fuery.a!cl) but this is almost certainly a false positive (or, I should say, it better be) so this file needs to be excluded from scanning....
Thanks for explaining this with the Windows-Defender. - We have already improved the false-positives with virustotal, still WindowsDefender doesnt like it. - Virustotal shows 0/64.
As for Windows Defender, I have had to exclude all mining programs and most wallets from it over the last 2 months as every definition update seems to target mining more and more. The conspiracy theorist in me suspects this is because lots of mining rigs running Win10 don't bother activating it...  Roll Eyes
I've never had an issue with Windows Defender and mining programs or wallets, and this TZC release didn't change that. Seems odd that it would vary from user to user Huh

Are you using Windows 7 or Windows 8.1/10? The Windows Defender in Windows 7 is not really an antivirus programme but a rather simple and not very effective anti-malware programme. If you are using Windows 10, are you sure you are using the latest version of Windows 10 and also whether you are using some other antivirus programme - an installation of almost any other antivirus programme will disable Windows Defender (which is good - one should not have two antivirus programmes running at the same time).
I'm running Windows 10 Home (legitimate and activated) with no other antivirus program. Defender is definitely active and I know it's up to date.

I've also used a computer that was running Win10 Pro and Webroot SecureAnywhere, but that only got rid of mining programs (though it ignored ccminer KlausT 8.15 for some reason).

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bidium - The ONLY ICO with GUARANTEED PROFITS! on: April 02, 2018, 03:02:43 PM
Come on guys... GUARANTEED PROFITS! = Guaranteed scam

Bidium price will never go down from 0.02usd and price can increase as per demand. In any case, if the price goes below 0.02usd, in that situation if anyone wants to sell their token, then Bidium will buy from them at 0.02usd/BIDM rate (as per Bidium's Buyback policy)
I sincerely doubt this, seeing as the ICO price is $0.01. Why would any company promise to pay out double the money they took in from an ICO? That seems like an extremely poor business model.

Anyway, there are already plenty of coins/tokens targeted at freelancers. This post doesn't show at all how this particular token would have an advantage over the ones that have already been around for a while.

Took last week off due to the Easter holiday, all market cap info and top 5 will be updated this coming Friday. In the mean time I've added to the "On the Radar" section and am keeping an eye on some upcoming news from a few of the listed coins!
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BOUNTY] 💰FreelancerCoin - A blockchain Freelancing platform- ENDED💰 on: March 31, 2018, 11:59:02 PM
Freelancer ico was  1 lan 1 dollar in price?

now the price in 1 lan is 0.000004050 eth

1000 LAN = 0.004 ETH

I hope this is a temporary situation and the price will rise again...

I am really convinced of this project, I am confident that if you go into the big stock market you will come to good places.
I wouldn't hold out too much hope for this project. The team has been pretty much silent since the end of the ICO, and it looks like they've been straight up lying about Google and John McAffee's involvement (see this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2654069.msg32484999#msg32484999).
