1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: One PSU hotter than other on: June 19, 2019, 04:51:43 AM
One more abnormal thing with the hot PSU from the start was that sometimes when I switch on the power outlet of the rig, the PSU fan spins for a second even though I haven't pressed the CPU power button (which starts the rig and both PSUs).
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: One PSU hotter than other on: June 19, 2019, 04:36:01 AM
You either have a power imbalance or a failing PSU. Do some troubleshooting
to figure out which. Swap the mobo power with a GPU and see if it's still the PSU
powering the mobo that gets hot or the one you moved to power 5 GPUs.

My guess is you're probably using unpowered risers so the mobo is powering all the
PCIe slots creating a huge load on the PSU powering the mobo.

My risers are powered. And the hot PSU is actually the one that's not connected to MoBo but has 5 GPUs. I know it is highly inaccurate but HiveOS says that each of my gpu is generating around 65-70W and the whole rig around 600W. The rig was assembled in August last year and the winters were close so the temp. was not a big issue. I just recently started it again after 5 months during peak summers and fear this it might blow up or something. It is high quality Antec PSU though : HCG X1000, japanese capacitors and all that.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / One PSU hotter than other on: June 19, 2019, 03:23:25 AM
My rig has 9*RX570 which runs on two Antec HCG 1000 PSU. One PSU which powers the MB through a dual PSU power cable spilliter has 4 GPUs and the other one has 5 GPUs.

The PSU which has 5 GPUs is very hot compared to the main PSU (4 GPU + MB). My city temperature is 30-40C. Do you think it could be due to PSU spilliter cable? I am thinking of ordering Add2PSU and replace the spilliter cable. Btw my GPUs are undervolted and bios modded.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Auto Power up mining rig after power loss ? on: November 11, 2018, 07:32:10 AM
I want to relocate my mining rigs to my uncle's house who has free electricity and the only thing that is stopping me is how will they power up after power loss. My uncle doesn't stay at the place.
Is there something that can be done in the BIOS ? I remember there was a option in my desktop to power up after power loss or something like that .
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP: Hard Drive formatted without wallet backup on: October 17, 2018, 06:18:59 AM
I recovered the wallet.dat file thanks to EaseUS Recovery software but the file doesn't work with the wallet. It is corrupted.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / HELP: Hard Drive formatted without wallet backup on: October 16, 2018, 08:21:18 AM
I recently formatted my hard disk but I forgot to backup this one coin that I started mining recently. I only have it's public address now. I don't have the json file or private keys etc.

It was desktop wallet installed in C drive. I didn't delete the partitions.

So what are my options now to recover my balance. Any software that you guys know of ?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asic Bittech NS (Neoscrypt 63.2MH/s ) on: September 22, 2018, 02:26:48 PM
I asked it earlier, which will be next algo; Neoscrypt or Lyra2v2. Lol, both of them are dead now.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which Algo will be hit next by ASICs ? on: September 14, 2018, 11:33:38 AM
Hmm...I see, the Bitmain 50 cent army is watching...and talking
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which Algo will be hit next by ASICs ? on: September 14, 2018, 04:38:49 AM
Which Algorithm will be hit next by ASICs is wrong question, right one would be this: Which algorithm will be hit next by Bitmain? Yeah they will make GPUs fully unusable, there is still Nvidia GPUs which are more profitable on hashes like Lyra2v2 or neoscrypt. Personally I would say next is neoscrypt. Did you remember how profitable does Nvidia GTX 1080ti was for a while this winter? It could ROI in 2 month (in reality this situation was only for 1-2 week) on neoscrypt coins. I highly believe prices will rise and same situation will happen, bitmain will take care of it.
AMD perform better now in lyra2v2. Rx 580 gives 40+ Mh/s. They are many high quality lyra2v2 coins and neoscrypt for some reason is popular with shitcoins.

But I can see there will be revival in GPU only algos. It is an endless cat and mouse game and those projects who gave up will regret.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Which Algo will be hit next by ASICs ? on: September 13, 2018, 07:38:15 PM
There are not many left. Not many left that have big market cap at least. Which one do you think will be next ?
I think Lyra2v2 or neoscrypt.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ZenCash | Horizen - Officially Announces NO ANTI-ASIC FORK - RIP GPU Miners on: August 29, 2018, 07:26:16 PM
They will all eat dust. I think GPU mineable algos will be the upcoming trend. There is a big niche, a big community and a big market (gpu miner) waiting to become loyal supporters.
The more powerful ASIC becomes, more powerful will be the asic-resistant algos.
Those projects who were after easy money and gave up soon will regret later, when real competition enters.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New NVIDIA 20 series cards available for pre-order, shipping 9/20/18 on: August 22, 2018, 04:15:20 PM
I think nvidia priced the cards to keep miners away for a while.  They didn't want miners scooping them up in bulk before gamers had a chance to get their hands on them.  If nothing else, it should keep the value of the 1000 series a little higher on the secondary market before nvidia starts dropping prices before Christmas.

I am pretty sure they main purpose of pricing it so high is not to keep it away from miners. If they price it way too high then pretty much no gamers will buy and gamers will just buy some 2nd hand (retired mining GPUs) from eBay and SLI them together and will get a much better speed than with the flagship model. Basically 2 of the 1080ti will probably outperform the single 2080ti and will probably cost less if bought used.

Right now mining is not profitable and even if the GPUs were very cheap, miners wouldn't buy them. Everybody right now is jumping ship.
That doesn't make sense. If they kept the price low then miners would have bought the gpus and prices would have inflated to reach current msrp, so it would still be same for gamers. But you are saying even if prices were low miner will not buy them...you are contradicting yourself.

Who cares about hashrate for eth now. Just get an E3 miner if you want to mine ethash coins. People bought it for $800 for 195 h/s.

A have disabled updates but still sometimes I get "Your computer is at risk, downloading important updates".

I have to use windows on my vega rig.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Great News-Bitcoin Mining Monopoly Bitmain May Branch Out From Crypto on: August 17, 2018, 04:28:58 PM
securing world's financial system is not a waste of energy; introducing any valuable side effects of mining would destabilize mining incentive system; energy is going green anyways.

Exactly. And mining using green energy is going to be the most profitable way to mine as the cost of solar drops. If we have a highly competitive / high tech mining industry, they’re going to be nimble to adapt to this change. Much faster than trying to convert the current banking industry over to green energy.

Plus people act like it’s trivial or easy to change the mining algorithm for bitcoin. It’s never going to happen. It would lead to a contentious hard fork and market confusion because no way everyone would agree.

You should use a calculator before talking about mining with solar power. Right now mining rewards even with free electricity is very low. There is no way in hell anyone who mines for profit will depend on solar for electricity.

Solar is neither green energy. Each stage in solar plate manufacturing is powered by energy from fossil fuels, from mining of rare earth metal with cranes that require 200lt of diesel/hr (single crane) and manufacturing in factory all the way to transportation. This also produces tons of harmful toxic waste everyday.
The only energy that is realistically clean, green and economical is nuclear energy. Especially thorium energy, this thing will power our future but greedy oil corporation have halted the research on it in the west even though US created one in the 60s but it was shut down due to cold war as unlike Uranium power plants, thorium power plants can't be used to create nuclear weapons. Due to this China and India are at least 15 years ahead in Thorium research. Just look it up - thorium.

who wasted the most money on this
^This

We want to know. It will also make me feel better as my strategy of buy high sell low is working amazing.
