1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING: Do not upgrade Google Authenticator (iPhone), you will loose keys! on: September 05, 2013, 03:02:21 PM
This happened to me also.  I was using Google Authenticator with an exchange.  I upgraded to a new phone knowing that it would reinstall and import the setup for the keygen for the exchange.  I wiped my old phone and sent it off for recycling.  New phone came, set it up, and Google Authenticator did not reinstall.  When I reinstalled it, it did not transfer the config for the exchange.  So I tried a manual sync with my Google account.  No luck, gone forever.  Took me 2 weeks to get back into that exchange.  Fuck you Google Authenticator.

Does it make much sense for little fish to trade when this market is obviously the plaything of a few well to do chaps?
You can make 2-5% here and there if you know what you are doing.  I've mined 175+ BTC since 2011, but I've only made a few bucks day trading them.

I said whoah and the buy continued on for several more minutes.  Double whoah.

Whoah.

What happens if we break $100 on the other exchanges today?
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I think I'm done GPU mining on: August 06, 2013, 06:57:30 PM
Do you think that GPUs will now start costing less, with less people buying them?
No.  It is clear we aren't even 1% of AMD sales, even AMD can confirm that.  The bitcoin community is incredibly tiny.  It may seem like there are a lot of people into Bitcoin if you are like me and read about it all the time, subscribed to the subreddits, on this forum, see it in the news, etc.  It's just not that big of a community, though.

The price of used GPU's might go down directly on this forum, though.

Guess what doesn't mines litecoins ? Your block erupter.  Grin

Guess what doesn't take even MORE power, heat, noise from trying to mine scrypt instead of SHA-256 and causing more crashes?  My Block Erupter
After countless hours of tuning a multi-family (Tahiti and Cypress) GPU rig for scrypt I give up.  It's too unstable.  It uses even more power, causing the heat to go through the roof and the fans get pegged at my limit of 88%.  The hashrate is 15% less on my rig due to the multi-family GPU issues.  Even though a lot of the scrypt coins I was mining were 200% more profitable, it just wasn't worth the work and crashing.
9  Bitcoin / Mining / I think I'm done GPU mining on: August 06, 2013, 05:10:16 PM
Guess what doesn't make a shit ton of noise 24 hours a day?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't make my mining room 85F even with ventilation and A/C?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't take 800w of power?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't crash my computer every couple of days?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't have constant driver problems that are impossible to solve?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't break when I update my GPU drivers?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't fail to set clock speeds, initialize, compile a kernel, etc on startup of cgminer?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't keep my Windows 8 login screen from loading because the GPU drivers are corrupt from the computer crashing so much?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't take even MORE power, heat, noise from trying to mine scrypt instead of SHA-256 and causing more crashes?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't slow down when I want to play a video game?  My Block Erupter
Guess what doesn't kill a motherboard and multiple PSU's because it draws so much power and puts out so much heat?  My Block Erupter

My 3 GPU's now only make me something shitty like $1 a day.  Even though my Block Erupter is only 333MH/s, I can let it run forever without having to do any work.  Plus, I've been mining since the middle of 2011 and now I can finally play video games again!

In before trolls say:
"Guess what will never ROI?  Your Block Erupter"
I'm ready to invest in the next ASIC which doesn't cost $20,000 and can ship the same day I order it like my Block Erupter.  Haven't seen one, yet.

Wow, CampBX is $88.

Sellers there will regret it if a whale doesnt come in soon. They sure have a steady finger for holding off this long, if they have any intents to sell...

Are you high?  The 24 hour low on CampBX is 96.00.  Put your contacts back in.
11  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2013-07-29 Bitcoin Illegal in Thailand on: July 29, 2013, 01:04:36 PM
In a free country you do what you like as long as it is not illegal. In a controlled un-free country you can only do what is legally allowed.
I'm sorry, but in America you can get arrested and thrown in jail for doing things that are not illegal.  Police officers will throw things at you and see what sticks in court.  If they have never seen someone do the same before they will invent some new law or modify one on the fly.  If you have a shitty judge, attorney, or jury, you will be screwed.  America is not as free as the rest of the world would like to think it is.  I'm afraid to do MANY things that would seem cool or fun because of our legal system.

Source:  I've been through the legal system once.  Although it was totally my fault.

You should change your name to Ztilb
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: when will we see $100/BTC again? on: July 28, 2013, 10:38:14 PM
Oh man I was right on this poll.  Woohoo!  What do I win?
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 28, 2013, 10:28:45 PM

A few quotes from Blitz made in july

Goodbye, triple digits. See you 2015.

After this week, I'm not sure we will see triple digits in 2013 again.

This has never been a billion dollar market to begin with. Triple digit, billion, those are things of a faint past.

No more triple digits for 2013.

Noone buys the triple digit lie anymore.

Looks like MtGox is beginning to shake off its denial and join the ranks of the 80s. This is only the beginning.

What if the buyer is an established casino firm that wanted to get into the Bitcoin game? If that's the case, then they would've been accumulating beforehand and have been responsible for some of the buying pressure. This would now be gone, along with 350k coins released on the market.

I smell blood.

Keep tryin' buddy, even a broken clock is right twice a day Wink
Thank you for putting in the work for the recap.  It's good for a laugh.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 28, 2013, 10:17:25 PM
To be fair, I don't think Rampion ever made a silly prediction like "never again 100/no 100 in 2013".
Blitz, on the other hand...

To be fair to Blitz, he did qualify his "no triple digits" prediction by saying he meant a sustained price over 100.

It's already dipped back under.

Sure, he will have an excuse every time we reach 100.
Could be a triple top, 100-104.... which wouldn't help the bull case.  Cheesy

If the price can't stay above 100 for a day even (which it hasn't), let alone two days closed, how much does that mean, really? (not to touch on whether 100 means anything)
The price could go to $1 or $1000, it doesn't matter that much.  What matters to us is proving the guys wrong who keep screaming all the time "NOPE NOPE NOPE, WE WON'T HIT TRIPLE DIGITS IN 2013 OR MAYBE EVER AGAIN".  That pisses us off.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 28, 2013, 09:39:36 PM
Boom, just broke 100.  I would like all the bears in this thread that have been screaming for weeks that we will never break 100 again in 2013 to EXPLAIN THIS.  Including the person with the fancy dancy title, you know who you are.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 28, 2013, 09:34:21 PM
Coincidence.
haha Smiley
but what have you been reading about?
Discovered some subreddits that are really interesting.  Doing some lurking on the shroomery.org and erowid.  Watching youtube videos of post-trip reports, etc.  The usual thing I do every 6-12 months when psychedelics pique my interest again.

I'm on a big psilocybin and DMT research binge again right now.  Funny how it came up in this thread at the same time.
Ahhh, then have some fun and listen to Terrence McKenna. A bard with words and was quite knowledgable but also a GREAT storyteller.
The psychedelic salon podcast has lots of his talks there.
Terrence McKenna is the shit.  I've been watching his videos for years.  I also enjoy watching Joe Rogan talk about psychedelics and his ayahuasca trips and sensory depravation chamber, etc.

Nice. Any bitcoin-related insights? I tried watching bitlisten.com on cubensis, but didn't feel any connectness or anything so left that pretty quickly.
I've actually never done real psychedelics, only shitty legal ones a few times.  That might change in the near or not so near future, I don't know.  It just really interests me every once in a while, especially now that I have quit my physically and mentally killing IT career and gone back to school.
