1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sirius A New Smart Chain Freely Distributed on: December 25, 2019, 07:02:44 PM
I haven't been here for a while, surprised by the lack of activity here. Is Sirius dead? The last post was almost two months ago.

Last Thursday camarillobrill said they are trying to get a listing at coineal. Check the slack, discord, or telegram for his post.

Merry Xmas.

📈Announcing Sirius IEO📈

Hi guys,

We're happy to announce that our IEO will take place around the end of September, where as a private presale will commence in the run up to this.

Stay tuned as we will have more information on this and the upcoming business white paper soon.

Meanwhile, check out our technical white paper here: https://getsirius.io/docs/Sirius-Technical-WP.pdf
Why the hell does sirius need any kind of fundraising?
And why would YOU announce that?
1st point :I guess that the best explanation would be that they need some money for the project after only holding a free giveaway/airdrop and team is still busy

2nd point : maybe because he is one of the teammembers?
1st As far as i heard they recieved a quantious amount of bitcoins and 2nd I never heard of him before but i'm not active in the community either.

Demartini is active in the slack/discord. Most of the discussions are taking place there.

Good time to go to Turkey on holiday, cheap as fuck, been twice. Food is a bit shit but weather is great & beaches are nice.
.

Normally yes, but in the current heatwave the temperatures there are probably approaching 50 degrees!

No  he has no coins left. He sold his remaining coins for next to nothing and didn't buy back. He must hate every bitcoin pizza day.

You think a publicly known early miner would admit to still retaining coins? I sure as shit would not.

Perhaps, but if he was prepared to part with 10k for two pizzas then he was probably prepared to part with the rest of his coins for an extremely low price.

As long as there are progress, for what concern me doesn't really matter if the updates are reported here or not. By following the slack channel or github you can easily be up to date  Smiley

People start discussing updates here even as soon as the dev mentions them in slack. It doesn't matter where they are reported because supporters rapidly start discussing them in all Sirius's social media channels.

Absolutely cause anybody that sell his or her holding in other not to loose because of the dump in price of the market such person person is already loosing. How ever, this remind of Papa Laszlo the man who bought 2 pizza with 10,000 bitcoin back in the year 2010 and I knew he will surely regret doing that now. Guys don't sell your bitcoin now if it not for an important or urgent situation so you won't regret it.

He was the first GPU miner. He'll have tens of thousands more coins.

No  he has no coins left. He sold his remaining coins for next to nothing and didn't buy back. He must hate every bitcoin pizza day.

Sadly the guy who was paid those bitcoins sold them for a few hundred dollars which he used to pay for a holiday.

Jercos – the man who earned 10,000 BTC by selling two pizzas

Cointelegraph also had the chance to speak with Jeremy Sturdivant, also known as Jercos, who participated in the original Bitcoin pizza deal as the recipient of those 10,000 BTC that he turned into two pizzas. Sturdivant, who told CT that he turned Hanyecz’s BTC into fiat for a trip when they were worth a couple of hundred dollars,

Are there any plans to covert from an ERC20 Token to a coin with its own blockchain, or will MunchCoin always remain an ERC20 Token?
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 18, 2018, 03:33:13 PM
I have made money from the last bull run and withdrawn it into my bank to not care about this drop. One thing I am certain, I will buy back when the market is favorable. I have small orders already filled but big ones waiting at the very bottom. Dont be scared. Bitcoin from the very start is like this. We've seen worse. It will recover.

I closed off my short on the last terrific shake down to 7.3k. Too much profit to ignore.

Then I thought - before starting to nurse it again, why not go long?

So I have a long position now, from the past low. It's in profit right now, but I would like to wait a bit more before closing and reversing it.

So, I think this is the problem with margin trading. You begin cautiously - it's a hedge, you know - and before you know it, you turn into a gambler. A winning gambler for the time being, but that's the point: the change in attitude. Using margin trading properly and sticking to the plan - ot at least to the mindset - requires lots of discipline.

My hunch about quick-reversing and longing is still paying out, but if I manage to close this in profit, I'm going back to my safety short. Then let it go down to 2k. I won't care.

Even if you win at margin trading you can lose everything when your exchange gets hacked. To margin trade you have to risk keeping your coins on an exchange, and none of them are reliable.

If they don't get hacked they get overloaded, and you can't login to close your position.

I see that NERVA's momentum is quite good Wink

I read through the introduction and think its nice and interesting to explore this new coin. I will follow and hope all goes well.

Completely Garbage

There will be newbies trying to get a stake for years to come even though the project is terminated. The only way to stop the garbage posts is to lock the thread.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sirius A New Smart Chain Freely Distributed on: March 05, 2018, 05:01:28 AM

That's a funny idea. "Hiring" people to check airdrop applicants.  Cheesy
The best way imo is to connect multiple accounts so that you can't apply with your 389 BCT alt accounts. Telegram needs a phone number, for example. Most people have only one number and one Telegram account so that would reduce the abuse.

a telephone package cost $2-3
the only way to prevent abuse is the rank
or maybe they should require a retinal scan  Grin
Yeah anyone can buy a burner phone for a few dollars so that isn't much of a deterent.  High rank is likely the best way because even if you created a million alt accounts, you didn't make enough posts on all of them to get to the high ranks.  That would be an insane amount of work for a person.

No system is perfect. Restricting the air drop to high rank members is as good as any other system.

This link to the Hindi translation in the OP is dead. If its been deleted by a mod mustafa.k786 should have been sent a pm explaining the reason for it. Benson Samuel controls the Hindi board. It was probably his decision to remove the thread. Maybe it was posted in the wrong section.

12  Other / Archival / Re: offline Addresses on: February 09, 2018, 08:13:49 PM
There are more possible bitcoin addresses than grains of sand on the Earth. It's so unlikely anyone can generate an address belonging to someone else that it's virtually impossible.

People have tried generating millions of addresses to attempt finding a funded one, but they all failed.

This thread is about one of those attempts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1573035.0

This quote explains why it's virtually impossible to generate an address belonging to someone else.

Don't worry, "If you were to intentionally try to make a collision, it would currently take 2^126 times longer to generate a colliding bitcoin address than to generate a block.". This means, if you have a computer that is 1 million times as powerfull as all current miners combined, it will still take an average of 1,618,542,460,620,902,128,345,579,373 years to generate a collision.

Even if Moores law holds true in the most generous way, we still have over 100 years left before this becomes feasable.

And also: yes, devices designed specifically for performing bitcoin mining exist (Artforz had himself some ASICs (custom chips) made)

Read this whole thread for more information.

Patience is the key.

I can see that this could be big once it listed on CRYPTOPIA. I'm just hoping that people will not just dump their token just to make profit on it, since they will just lose their opportunity and getting free SRX.
Is this rumor true? If people dumping Sirius, it will be yours and my chance to get SRX at minimal prices! The people who received these coins are different from the lower rankings, they are more patient and resolved people! The project is good, totally free of schematics, ICO and etc! There is no reason not to believe Sirius, there are still some details of the application of this coin, but in short we will know!

You don't have to wait for an exchange listing to buy. If you want to get SRX at minimal prices try buying on the SRX trading thread.

It could be.

Some other interesting stories from cointelegraph are that South Korea is definitely not banning bitcoin, and Russia's largest state bank is going to launch its own cryptocurrency exchange in its Swiss branch.

Russia's not banning bitcoin either, its regulating it with a Digital Assets Regulation Bill.

On Jan. 25, Russian authorities presented the Digital Assets Regulation Bill, which defines and establishes a regulatory system for cryptocurrencies, ICOs, mining and trading.

According to the latest update of the bill, the Ministry of Finance is aiming to legally adopt cryptocurrency trading, since it would reduce the risks of fraud and increase the government’s tax revenue, due to the potential for fiscal transparency.

Hey xhomerx10, where do you get masterluc's predictions from?
The master luck account has been compromised but he has a few aliases.

This is him on ://www.traditradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/3RjQGYZp-No-resistance-till-15000-when-3500-will-break-up/
How do you know the masterluc account has been compromised? Actmyname left negative trust with a comment the account is compromised, but he hasn't posted a reference link that explains the negative.

Masterluc wrote so himself on VKontakte
https://vk.com/wall-130254204_7571

Thanks for the link, actmyname should add it to his neg unless theymos quickly returns the account to masterluc's control.

Huh Whats merit standing for ?

This page shows all the merit points people have sent you for posts they liked.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1067333

You need a lot more merit points before you can move up to the next bitcointalk rank of senior member.
19  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchanges where I can store USD / Euro without being verified? on: January 29, 2018, 08:14:49 PM
Bitfinex lets you do that, but you have to make a certain minimum deposit to start your account. I think it's about one bitcoin minimum deposit.

You have to verify if you want to withdraw as USD but not if you only withdraw bitcoins. Converting to USD then back to bitcoins is OK without verifying.
Okay thanks, that's worth to look at.
However I've heard that there's been a lot of problems around Bitfinex lately, are there any other alternatives?

Yes there are people worried it could go bankrupt if it hasn't enough money to back all the tethers it created.

https://www.coindesk.com/tether-confirms-relationship-auditor-dissolved/

There must be other exchanges that offer USD storage without verification, but I don't know of any. There's a lot of new exchanges opened that I'm not familiar with.
20  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitstamp, CEX.io, Gemini on: January 29, 2018, 07:45:46 PM
Bump.  Anyone?  Specifically interested in Gemini, but the others as well.

I haven't any experience of gemini, but BobLawblaw says it's the best he's found for found for wiring in/out money, although its support is shit.

If you are in the US, I recommend Gemini. Their support is complete and utter shit, but it's the simplest exchange I've found for wiring in/out money, once your accounts are properly linked and jumped through their AML/KYC hoops.

Coinbase is an even worse shit-show right now.
