Is there any sort of formula to calculate the approximate time to mint a PoS block? Feeling like I have no luck over here  Roll Eyes
Yeah I downloaded the wallet and got a small pile of coins but can't tell if i am even staking.

Coin maturity is 30 days. i.e. coins must sit untouched at the EMC address for 30 days before being eligible for staking. If they have then the coins should attempt to stake (so long as the wallet is unlocked and you have not set a "reservebalance" in the .config)

Oh I know that, coin maturity or staking is not the problem here. It looks like I've been staking, perhaps I'm just luckless so far  Sad

same here, unlucky or something is wrong, im minting with coins from 2014, is the pos diff that high?

edit: i tried calculating with http://poscalculator.peercointalk.org/  (@craslovell maybe this is something you were looking for?)
and entering emercoins diff (34.2) , it says i should have 14.660504% chance to mint a block in 24 hrs and 99.266074% in 30 days, so maybe i have to be more patient

now looking at the pictures, i was wondering, wouldnt it be better for airflow if the heat sink is rotated 90 degrees, when the fan is aimed at it from the side?

Honestly sounds like you might be better off doing a clean install of it. Just back up your wallet, uninstall the program, and wipe out anything that's left in appdata or program files directories (assuming this is windows). Reinstall and let it resync after that.

i think that has already been tried, deleting blockchain and redownloading, it got stuck, for me it did work tho , maybe patience is the magic ingredient

IMPORTANT - FORK!

There is fork happening in the EmerCoin network after block 136404.
Some clients do not receive correct block 136405, and continue staking.

Please, check your client. Run from console:

getcheckpoint

If it prints:
{
    "synccheckpoint" : "0000000000000006d2010d4a879378a448c4a12e156127d7a7753b93fccb676d",
    "height" : 136404,
    "timestamp" : "2015-11-29 17:17:16 UTC"
}

then your client has been affected by fork.

To resolve this issue, needed re-download blockchain again.
To do this:
1. stop emercoin program
2. Backup your wallet.dat (not necessary, but this is more safe)
3. Delete all files, but wallet.dat and emercoin.conf in the directory
windows: C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\EmerCoin
linix: ./emercoin
4. Restart emercoin program. Wait for ~30 minutes to reload blockchain.

We're working for investigate this issue, and will release patch soon.

Thanks you for patience.

Hope these guys will suprise us with something that NO ONE in the market did untul now !!
To create a real mining rig that can beat the difficulty and make real ROI !!

In no way there is still a working company alive. They are dead in so many ways. Your hope is hopeless for sure.

I wonder what the police would find out when they investigate all the people that were near friedcat. Someone has to know something i think.

will they still be able to find anything if the evidence is completely fried?

How does mining carry on after that if there are no rewards coming from the blockchain ... ??

transaction fees are also rewards for the miners

And you made sure that the hub they're plugged in has sufficient power to run 4 at 240Mhs ?

it was running fine with 4 sticks looking at the screenshot, 5 sticks are doing fine, so yeah im also guessing too much power draw to feed the last two?
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: January 09, 2016, 05:17:31 PM
well, if you have a pool running, and you are the only one mining on it, it is the same as solo mining isnt it? i think you can config the pool that it just pays out to your wallet, but i have to try myself , so i dont know what exactly is needed,
i will tell when i tried
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: January 09, 2016, 05:08:28 PM
Hi, why is mining so slow with getwork? I usually mine at 3.5th but now down to 2.4th
I'm solo mining
thanks

Found the answer to this I had to put /#skipcbcheck on my miner string for pool.emercoin.com
Hope the solo mining gets stratum because it's' slow using getwork.

you could try modding https://bitbucket.org/ckolivas/ckpool
i am/was actually going to try that

maybe i missed it, but has there been a compac stick out there that has found a block?
114  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: November 08, 2015, 01:22:01 AM
Interesting...I remember on S1 thread everyone was so helpful.

I will repeat my two questions one more time:

1. Is it better to run these sticks on USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 powered hubs? I already have candidates to order in each case.

2. can someone provide a simple setup for using rasp pi in conjuction with these sticks.
All i need to know what to order, i will try to figure out software by myself.
BTW, Pi connects to its own power source, then to computer via usb or to router directly?
then you connect USB 2.0 hub to pi and stick sticks into the hub?

2. rpi uses its own ethernet connection.
(to make things more confusing, they also support PoE, than it does not require its own power source, you need a router that supports it tho, lets not get into that)

Thanks Irritant, AJRGale and Sloopy. I've ran zadiag as admin and started a cmd prompt as administrator and started the bat file from there without success. I've also tried 2 different USB ports on 2 different computers with the same result. I did read the remainder of the thread and didn't notice anyone with the same issue, Google didn't bring back much either so I was hoping it was something so obvious nobody previously needed to ask! Huh

do you have a raspberry pi laying around you could try to test on linux there, also maybe try BFG but it shouldn't matter imo
linux deals with usb a lot better methinks
116  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: November 02, 2015, 11:37:59 PM
Hello all,

I'll preface this post with a small disclaimer - I haven't mined since the GPU days and the Compac is my first ASIC. The solution to the problem therefore is probably really obvious!

Today i received my bitshopper.de version of Sidekick and Novak's compac. I've installed Zadiag and changed the driver to WINUSB and i've rebooted (oh so many times!). I'm running Novak's CGminer from the first page of this thread. I'm using the bat file included as administrator on windows 7 and also windows 8. Currently i'm using the bat file as is (i'm aware that it is linked to Novak's bitcoin address) and i've also tried dropping the fequency to 100mhz. I've tried different USB ports, inserting/removing the compac at different times before/when CGminer is running, two computers and have had the miner through my USB doctor currently which is showing 5.03V and 0.19amp draw.

Essentially CGMiner reports no miners, but on looking through the USB menu and listing the devices it does find it as "Bus 2 Device 3 ID: 10c4:ea60 bitshopperde Compac BM1384 Bitcoin miner". CGMiner then reports "USB init, open device failed, err -3, you don't have privilege to access - GEK device 2:3", and then Gekho detect <2:3> failed to initialise" I'm guessing the second error is due to the first.

Is anyone able to advise? Help is much appreciated.

run as administrator?

Power seems to be my biggest enemy....

I am using a RaspberryPi 2 with an external powered USB hub. Even though it has 12 powered ports....It was too much to fill all the ports with the USB ASIC Miners. I was never able to get more than 4 running at a time because lack of power. Well today something happened to that hub and I need a new one.

I now know not just any powered USB hum will do.... What powered USB hub will someone recommend without breaking the bank?
Even if I have to use 2 powered USB hubs I would like to get more than 4 running from a single RaspberryPi.

Thank you

did you try those Y-cables (usb)
118  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 20, 2015, 04:44:19 AM
sidehack, what do you thing a peltier would do? 22 watts of cooling capacity. cool the power section and chip. I would need frost precautions etc but I can do that easy.

stupid? oh yeah that has vapourminer written all over it. I mean anything worth doing is worth overdoing as the saying goes.

ive only known +50W peltiers to go below 0 degrees Celsius, i've been playing with a 40mmx40mm, that runs at 15v 7A for best results, cant get it lower then 7 degrees lower then ambient, off a sink..

what about novec, anyone wants to drown these babies?
