101  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying my First coin this week - UK based on: September 15, 2014, 01:18:49 PM
I always buy on localbitcoins.com. Just choose a seller with good feedback (positive and lots of it) and you should be ok. I could look up a couple I've bought from if that would help, but it would have to be this evening as I'm about to leave for work.

Let me know if you want me to.

Thank you that would be fantastic please do.

With just 44hrs of study on the bitcoin world, I am infatuated.

I realise I have to watch my back A lot !

People can not be civilised anymore ! Huh

Will keep updating my progress

Thanks

I've purchased from the following localbitcoin.com sellers without any problems:

Matrix
Dmtrik
caseya
Oscarjames
moreuse

Thanks for the advice I have had a few PM's off sellers straight away looking to sell also asking for Skype.

What's people's views on this and is it OK to "out" sellers or user names that PM me too verify there trustworthy ?  Huh

Thanks

If you buy from anyone on the board, make sure you use a trusted escrow to hold your funds before they are transferred to the seller on completion. Anyone asking you to do otherwise is likely a scammer (disregard their trust rating).

Also, don't trust anyone claiming to be the localbitcoins users Ive listed above. Either buy from localbitcoins.com, or use an escrow.

p.s. most of the people who whispered you are probably scammers.

p.p.s. For escrow, see this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=775256.0

103  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP SCAM] Beware of Scammer: Bobsurplus on: September 14, 2014, 01:18:48 PM
It's a scam

He deletes any comments that he doesn't like. I'll PM the people on his thread  Grin

Why not post your accusations in public; he can't delete them in this thread and PM'ing kind of defeats the object of a scam accusation thread?
104  Economy / Lending / Re: Please lend me 0.05 BTC. [With/Without Collateral] on: September 14, 2014, 01:15:30 PM
Why can't you pay interest? Something to do with religion?
Judaism maybe?

Yes, perhaps he's a rabbi. Rabbi Muhammed Zakir  Cheesy
105  Economy / Lending / Re: Full Member needs to loan 0.025BTC %15 rate for 7 days. (NO Collateral) on: September 14, 2014, 01:12:37 PM
I see you were doing this last week to get feedback too  Roll Eyes

If you have collateral, I can loan.

If not, you may want to ask haploid23, but I doubt he would give you that amount when you're a Member with 0 trust.

If that fails, try posting on bitcoinstarter.com.

As i thought... If that is okay for you i d like to start with 50 or 100mbtc for same interest ratio to get trust since i am neutral. Thank you for your time.

I suggest you reconsider publicly taking out micro loans expressly to gain trust; I'm sure it's frowned upon in here and will get you a negative.

Have you seriously taken 6 micro loans in one week? What on earth for (apart from the obvious: feedback)?
106  Economy / Lending / Re: Full Member needs to loan 0.025BTC %15 rate for 7 days. (NO Collateral) on: September 14, 2014, 12:49:38 PM
You dont seem to get the point. Here i am not trying to get feedback. I m trying to get loans and do micro trade and pay back the amount with the agreed interest rate. Could you please be so kind to explain me the Falsify of this?

Ah I see. You were asking for micro loans 3 days ago to get feedback, but today you're asking for micro loans for another reason.

You see it right now yes. So here i m trying to do business. Did the amount of my business bother you? Am i not in your league?

Now you seem to be missing the point, though how that's possible is hard to credit.

When someone asks for micro loans, one after the other (as you are) in order to gain positive feedback (which you have done and, in my opinion, are still doing), it makes people wonder why they are so desperate for feedback. Is it so that people will trust you based on that (falsely acquired) feedback? Most probably, especially in your case since you're already using your feedback to get un-secured loans (see OP).

I take loans and pay back with interest rate on the date i promised.(Generally earlier). Its not for getting feedback.

So the above quote from you asking for a loan to get feedback is falsified?
109  Economy / Lending / Re: Full Member needs to loan 0.025BTC %15 rate for 7 days. (NO Collateral) on: September 14, 2014, 12:09:11 PM

He asked if he could loan a small amount from me, purely to gain trust.
I dont have collateral but i can loan even a smaller amount to have your feedback. Thank you.

No. Do not ask for trust loans. People will bombard you with negatives, since you're taking out loans purely to gain trust. That isn't trust.

I see you're continuing to request micro loans, no doubt to get feedback. You really ought to take the advice above as doing this is very suspicious indeed (I'm actually surprised no one has given you negative trust yet).
110  Economy / Lending / Re: Trying to learn about bitcoins and how to obtain a loan? on: September 14, 2014, 08:15:33 AM
People require some form of collateral before they will give you a loan. This is usually in the form of another coin for a bitcoin loan but can be anything valuable which can be held by a third party while the loan is in progress. If you don't have anything like this, it's very unlikely you'll get a loan.

Since the only way you'd be able to get bitcoins for collateral would be to buy them, you need to find another form of collateral.

I advise you not to start asking for a loan without collateral as this is frowned on around here.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Taking Woman to Mars? on: September 13, 2014, 07:28:48 AM
Why did you make two posts on the same subject? Can a mod merge them, close one, or something?
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mars Cosmonaut Needs Bitcoin for One-Way Flight Home on: September 13, 2014, 07:25:02 AM
So many posts about her... I still don't understand what the point of giving her any btc is... this whole Mars One is a dumb idea

Well some people find meaning from the act of exploration and of challenging themselves. Other people respect such bravery and share their dreams, but wouldn't or couldn't do it themselves, so donate money instead. I hope that explains the basics of it to you.

Of course others prefer to sit at home calling everything dumb, without actually giving any reasons why.

Perhaps you'd like to elaborate?
113  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Police won't charge you, but they'll grab your money on: September 13, 2014, 07:08:59 AM
The best advise is to simply decline to answer any questions, and to keep anything that you would not want a police officer to see in plain view (including money). If they ask to search your car then you should withhold consent and this should stop the vast majority of issues.

There was an article in the Washington Post this week that talked about how much money local governments were making from these kinds of warrant-less seizures .

Declining to answer any questions will immediately set off a red flag that your trying to hide something.  That is how a cop would likely try to interpret it if you ask me.  I don't like how paranoid many cops are, they will look for anything they feel is not normal to harass you.  Profiling people and treating them like criminals before proven guilty is not their job, it is to protect and serve.  If their being trained to act this way something needs to change and that change needs to come from the higher ranking officers.

If a cop shoots and kills someone the immediate reaction is the victim must have done something to deserve it.  What kind of message is that going to send to cops?  It's that they literally have a license to kill, which is beyond terrifying for anybody with a pulse.
History shows us that people in positions of authority are in the best position to do the most damage yet our society tends to accept all the corruptions and power grabbing.  It won't keep us safe that is for sure so people better get used to being walked on and treated like crap by a bunch of paranoid poorly trained "peace officers".

I disagree. A cop is a public servant and should be spoken to as such. Politely and respectfully decline to be treated like a child/criminal and do not consent to be questioned, searched or give away your rights in any other way.

Of course if you get all angry and defensive, you are acting like you have something to hide and they will react accordingly.

What's important isn't what you say, but how you say it.

I completely agree with your point, I was speaking about the average run in with a cop.  I get if you understand the law and what questions you need to answer and how can diffuse the situation. Not everybody studies the law to the point that they understand they don't have to answer all kinds of questions asked of them.  You make an excellent point but I'm just saying not every citizen from the youth to the elderly is going to have a full grasp of their rights when approached by a cop and they shouldn't be treated as a suspect or guilty like their a terrorist.

Yes, you're right and it's especially hard to deal with this kind of situation as a young person. Being bullied by a figure you've been taught to be submissive to (and fear) is always going to be a challenging situation.   I suppose my original points were  meant as something I feel people should try and work towards; I do realise it's not easy (for me too).

You have off-topic, start a thread about something you know well and talk to people.

Find some topics of your interest and post there. Off topic is good place to start.

off topic

So you're saying I should copy what someone else said in the thread but change it slightly so it looks original? That's a great idea guys, thanks!

Well I've certainly got some great tips from this thread so thanks all. I'll have no problem getting my quota done from now on.

Damnit >_< lol Tongue anyway I actually posted a lot more than I thought I did when I looked at things so it was fine Cheesy.

It appears, after looking at my post count, that I've posted a lot more than I had at first thought. So now everything is ok.  Smiley

116  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fulfilling signature campaign post quota on: September 11, 2014, 07:56:42 AM
The point of the signature campaign is to collect some spare change while advertising for Bitcoin based businesses. It's not to be relied on as a source of income.  If you honestly have nothing worthwhile to say they perhaps move to a different area.  There are many sections of the forum that I visit and spend hours reading but don't post a single thing.  Almost 1/2 my posts are in the mining sections since that's what I'm familiar with and I help new miners (or at least I think I do).

If it becomes that forced for you to post perhaps you be better off working a hobby and using that income to buy coins.

I do have a hobby that gives me income (though I usually call it my job), just not very much, mainly because I don't do very much. I guess I just like the idea of being paid bitcoins for posting; I'm not relying on it to pay the rent or anything.

There are many sections of the forum I don't bother reading, mostly because I don't want to spend hours on here. I'll give them a look though, thanks.

yes and if not many people answer, make an alt and talk to yourself!

What a dishonourable suggestion; you ought to be ashamed of yourself!
118  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fulfilling signature campaign post quota on: September 11, 2014, 07:31:15 AM

You only need to make 50 posts and find it difficult? LOL.

YEA YOU CAN THANK OBAMA FOR THAT!

I guess I should really have made a separate post for that, otherwise it defeats the object. Of course I'd have to pad it out a bit with stuff that, while perhaps being uninteresting, was at least on topic. I know the mods frown upon people posting one liners, especially if they're in a signature campaign. Quite rightly in my honest opinion. I wonder what is considered a sufficient amount of words to be safe though.
119  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fulfilling signature campaign post quota on: September 11, 2014, 07:04:20 AM
I look for easy questions to answer. Like this one.

Politics & Society is a good place to feel something and get into a long-winded conversation you think's important but has no impact. Cops shoot a dog? THANKS, OBAMA!

Happy to be of service sir and thank you for your excellent suggestion.

There are rumors that the altcoins section is not too vigilated.I don't visit much that section because I got tired of altcoins.

And nice your idea about bully newbies in the loan section

Thanks for the suggestion, but even I'm not that desperate! <shudder>

I should have kept that lending strategy private really  Undecided
120  Other / Off-topic / Fulfilling signature campaign post quota on: September 11, 2014, 06:54:25 AM
So as you can see, I'm in a signature campaign. The problem I sometimes have is finding posts to reply to which often results in me bullying newbies in the lending section, as I can't think of anything else to say. I never was the greatest conversationalist and I seem to get worse the older I get (my brain has probably become pickled by wine).

So I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how they manage to post so much on various topics month after month, or if anyone has the same problem?

I do hope this post is not seen as a shameless attempt to fulfil my daily post count because I certainly wouldn't descend to such depths....
