We got a basic version of the ANN translated into Chinese by user liulby: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1112414.0

Added it to the Link & Downloads section for now.

Thank you!

Currently VNL is probably the best anonymous coin on the market!
for sure, once chinese get a hold of this. moon
On this note, the 8btc quote in the OP is dead, there is absolutely no link or mention of VNL on 8Btc.com.

We could really use a thread there and in Chinese section.

Also, I pinged btc38.com on Skype. Here was his comment - "we will pay attention to your coin and  let us see  if your coin is good enough."

So, might be worth more folks expressing interest (ESPECIALLY Chinese natives)

ty for mentioning that the 8btc link is dead, didn't know and took it down.

+1 for the rest, it would be great if people who speak chinese would show their support on the popular chinese forums/exchanges.

Thanks traumschiff. Its a brilliant concept and I'll look forward to future updates

I agree fully, never seen anything similar here in crypto in the last 2 years. This will be the perfect digital cash.

Could someone tell me how far this coin is, in terms of developing the zero time functionality. I honestly thing this is the best thing in cryptocurrencies for a long time. Whilst every other coin is focusing on features which honestly don't even require the coin in the first place. This is actually solving a real problem that Bitcoin has in terms of it being able to be a currency that could actually be used In real time.

Are there any short term goals for development of this feature.

ZeroTime needs the UDP Layer integrated which has been introduced in the 0.3.1 update. There are already ZeroTime commits pushed to github, no one can tell you an exact date on the full release though except John and he likes to be a bit mysterious with his release dates.

John has a terrible amount of ideas and features already built and ready to implement.

Do VanillaCoin needs logo and graphics ? I red u talking about that. If do, then great 'cos so i've made one exclusive and unique logo presented in several different grafics and designs that will bring Vanilla a new fresh look.

John seems to have picked a winner from the 99designs contest, but feel free to jump on irc and PM john-connor if you have some ideas.

I clicked, but as I do not have a registered account on Twitter, the terms do not show up. So it would be nice if Lana post the giveaway terms here.

Just follow her and retweet to be able to win 100 VNL.

Ok, but who Lana will choose the winner?

Probably at random.

What is the block time? And can it be mined by scrypt asic?

Variable block time targeting 80-200 seconds. You can't make use of your scrypt asics as this uses a modified Whilrpool algo.

FPGA development is ongoing, some boards with spartan 6 chips on them will be able to mine Vanillacoin with good power to hash efficiency.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion Earlz.

And seriously guys.. Just be glad Earlz is doing all this reviewing for such a small fee. He has proven himself " trustworthy" a long time ago. New stuff in the code can be missed.

Let me ask the hypocrits and haters... Did you guys review the code yourself and found this " bug" ?If so... Shame on you for not sharing this. Just be glad there are people in crypto who really want to " help"  the community. Keep up the good work Earlz  Wink And a big thanks to the guy who posted that PM from Pharmadev

Man... How many of these little " bugs" will they program in the future huh?

Yeah, sorry for being harsh, I'm glad he is trying to help people.

Honestly though, people should alltogether stop supporting new coins even if in a positive way, this whole thing has gone to shit a long time ago. Check the first 50-100 pages of any older and more popular coin, it was full with technical discussions, visions and ideas. After this we came to the phase where people started spamming "to the moon" as if this was the 2nd goldrush era. Now we arrived to the phase where people can't even properly speak english and are calling every dump a cheap buying opportunity. It's all shit and as long as there are 30 people mining, "devs" will scam on.

I sometimes go to the threads of SDC/DASH/NXT/whatever (even though I'm not invested) just to check on their progress, and I actuelly get to see progress and discussions there.

Try to give support to the coins and communities which have proven themselves.

There is no point in supporting new coins, clever money and whales have fully left new alts. Start investing in older coins and cope with the thought that you wont make 50-100x profits and be happy with 50-100% one at a time.

If you rent a rig and try to rape a new coin you usually can't even jump out since there is no volume or buy walls anymore on smaller exchanges which add these coins.

@earlz, please stop what you are doing. Making reviews for coins will just act like a noobtrap for people who can't do their own research. You are currently supporting new coins which pay you 30$. You have not taken a better look at your review even after the coin had half of LTC's nethash which is impossible for a coin which has: 1) unknown Polish devs 2) mockups as their office pictures 3) PR account can't even use proper english 4) advertised to send illegal drugs to EU countries

So according to your first "A" review, this coin had a clean code and had obviously a legit hashrate.

Literally 99% of the past few month launches have been abandoned, and this was horribly obvious.

.

I wasn't highlighting "unknown Polish devs" because I have anything against Polish people. The country was chosen by them probably because not many Polish people are actively into crypto and within that the alt community, meaning it's harder to trace them and unmask their scam.

Also it's also obvious that these random people have no connection to whatever chinese scrypt mine they lied about which can output half the network hash of Litecoin. I don't see how this wasn't occuring to Earlz and why he didn't further research his review.

shitty retarget... too much instamine

and empty github https://github.com/scriptexpert/Eurocoin

Also old Bitcoin source. I'm not gonna lie, max 30-40 people still mine new coins, they are all shit with incompetent developers.

Time to stop.

Even if new coins get added to 0 volume exchanges like yobit or c-cex they will not produce profit. If you invest 2 much money into rig renting you can not jump out since markets have no volume or buy walls, there is literally no point anymore with new coins.

Hey dev, do you have an ETA of what's coming up for drop ? Cant wait discover the suprises and the new real roadmap Smiley

Although Dev seems professional and all, this coins seems like a minor side project for him and not much of his time is put into it  Sad

I'm pretty sure he will do more coding when he recovers, he was online every day on IRC before the issues.

Did you code the technology to make instant transactions possible or is it just a theory that you have written down in the whitepaper? Is it ready at launch?

ZeroTime from Vanillacoin is being implemented as we speak, the network is a hybrid TCP/UDP one and transactions will confirm in under 8 seconds.

Edit: I also read that this isn't POW. John (the developer) is implementing instant transaction (the mentioned max. 8 sec) on a POW/POS hybrid currency.

Yes, we have implemented the instant transaction and it is operational. As we speak, users are already pushing transactions and the transaction processing and confirmation time is well under 1 second. Majority of the time (around 450ms) is actually spent due to the limitation of the HTML5 light web wallet and its underlying web infrastructure. On the low level hardware which is really our domain such as CCTV IoT camera devices the transaction time average is around 700 ms, but obviously the low level C and assembly implementations give us more room for optimization.

I am sure John's technology is absolutely great at Vanillacoin and I have no doubt it will be a very successful project. We are not trying to compete with John nor with any POW/POS coins - we do not even have mining. What we try to achieve is to bring Bitcoin to a specific user base, empower Internet connected devices with the blockchain and the digital currency payments and bring the concept to real world businesses. For those reasons we have
a) private/public blockchain to protect the privacy of businesses, models and broadcasters
b) the token which bought by the end user pedged to US$1 to handle the volatility issue
b) some centralization to comply with regulation and avoid child pornography and terrorist content on the network

Please let me know if you need more info.

Thank you for the fast and detailed explanation. So to make it clear, this project doesn't really aim to compete with other virtual currencies, but rather wants to acquire a segment of the market. I sadly checked your distribution methods a bit late, thought it's a POW/POS currency.

So you plan to use it only as a token to move things and not as a traditional currency? Since it will be pedged and also is lightly centralized.

Yes, GadgetCoin and GadgetToken basically act as token. There are many very good currencies at the exchanges supported by great communities and we don't see the point in rolling out a new one. That's why we have not cloned BTC or other existing coins. We rather try to make money by taking 5% cut from existing, established businesses such as top webcam models and distribute it transparently to the GadgetCoin community via the blockchain and smart contracts.

Having said that, the GDC currency represents a value. Currently it is at US$ 0.33, but the models and game broadcasters will be able to buy it for no less than US$1, this will be a clause in any models' broadcasting smart contract. Due to the limited supply of GDC, which limited supply is caused by the fact that the GDC purchased by the models at cash out will be burned. We think, for these reasons GadgetCoin will reach the US$5 quickly, but again, this price and economic dynamics are not really comparable to Bitcoin or other alt coins as the demand/supply in our business model is determined by very different factors than the market. Please note GadgetToken is a different entity, it is pedged to 1 US$ to manage the volatility aspect of the operation.

As for the centralization, from certain viewpoint you can say this is very much centralized, because for instance you report a child pornography and the trusted node can terminate the video broadcasting which can seen as an excessive centralization. On the other hand everything is governed by transparent smart contracts which are recorded in the blockchain, and therefore the system only executes contracts that are based on community consensus.

Thank you for the detailed explanation, everything seems clear now. I wish you the best for the project, the idea seems well thought out!
