OK, I found the reason for that and it has nothing to do with the S1 board. I have a few NF2's which also use the CP2102 and had not unplugged one on the laptop I was running the board from (though it was not hashing at the time). The messages have stopped since I removed it.

I was wondering, if J4bberwock's board could do with some firmware .... possibly implementing the bifury protocol (I am simply grasping at thin air here seeing a fully heat-sunk board is only hashing at 44GH/s).
1022 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: October 31, 2014, 08:44:37 PM
I run one board using an el-cheapo CP2102 and WITHOUT a heatsink and got thus:

Obviously, the errors are way out there (due to the lack of a heatsink, I think), but poolside speed was 44 GH/s @ freq 400 (average in an hour) with: -o stratum+tcp://stratum.mypool.mine:3333 -u pekatete -p x --bmsc-freq 0F81
I am currently running with --bmsc-freq 5081 (i.e freq 425)

So I am at a loss as to why some people are only managing a miniscule 12GH/s on a board .... care to share your settings / software / etc ... ?

J4bberwock - way to go! now for the software ..... but seeing what i am getting from a stock cgminer without a heatsink, I am hopeful to be able to squeeze a bit more with one on, which, aside from the fun of it, may be a done deal!

I'm using the same settings, but only getting 45-55GH on each board in cgminer and poolside, with less HW errors and boards that weren't voltmodded. (heatsinks are on, as you can see on the pics.)

That may be reason for concern then .... I was hoping to be able to squeeze some more speed with the heatsinks.
I have to say that whenever i run this version of cgminer, it seems as though it is another program altogether! I was getting frequency messages before and now I am not getting any, but a repeated error message Bitmain detect <7:2> failed to initialise <incorrect device?> in between the Accepted messages!
Something else that may be relevant to the above is that before I reset the freq, I mistakenly moved the connection from the CP2102 to the board and cgminer "lost" connection to AMU 0 but quickly found AMU 1 ....! Anyways, after restart it is back to AMU 0 but with the error that does not seem to be affecting the board's speed (still early days though).

I guess Your blade comes from unit not pensil undervolted, right?
Not sure what you mean by "from unit", but I can tell you that the board is NOT pencil undervolted.

Anyhow, having run the board with --bmsc-freq 5081 for the last hour, I managed to reap a poolside average of ~20 GH/s (despite cgminer showing an average of 99GH/s +), and as soon as I turned it back to --bmsc-freq 0F81 (with cgminer showing an average of 66GH/s), the rate started rising again! So that's sorted for me then ....

Im shutting Down for the Night in a bit also... Crasy the % is just gone up from the 187% to 275% without hitting Any blocks .. How does the % work
Ahem! -- whisper -- just hit a block --- /whisper --

need to write some software to detect X hrs then switch pools when it exceeds X hrs 24hrs of mining for .004 BTC is not going to cut it Grin
Double your hashrate to over 2TH and you'll get more than the 0.004 BTC!
7 blocks yesterday and none so far today .... you never know, once we get at least 1 block today, 4 min blocks may appear out of the blue.
1027 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN‘s Liquid Cooled Miner C1: It is not only cool, but it is cool on: October 29, 2014, 07:12:53 PM
Just wondering, is the T1 module on syscooling's site the one used for the C1?
If so and the cooling for the C1 makes it easily overclockable seeing I am able to squeeze 530 GH/s @ 262 HW 0.0003% from an air cooled S3, then if the C1 can perform better, say 1.15 - 1.2 TH/s, then it may be worth it converting my S3's to water cooling (though I may resort to my own contraption using a car radiator instead to service my S3's)

I'm getting the following error on the config page but the unit is hashing...

This page contains the following errors:
error on line 348 at column 34: EntityRef: expecting ';'
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

Not sure what to make of it.
Get the latest firmware where this error was fixed, or (and I am assuming the error is on the Miner Configuration tab), login via SSH and enter:
sed -i 's/Save\&Apply/Save\&Apply/g' /usr/lib/lua/luci/model/cbi/cgminer/cgminer.lua
That should fix it!

I actually like the closet project. Those miners are mining at slushs pool. It's a lot better than newbies constantly accusing slush of cheating or not keeping the pool up.
You'll be surprised who leads the pack in accussing slush of cheating the pool, same twat!
1030 Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: October 28, 2014, 05:41:47 PM
These miners become obsolete faster than any other technology I have seen. My miners were soo good 4 months ago and now they are barely able to keep up with electricity costs!

Time to upgrade. Got enough BTC mined to purchase a new miner, gotta find the best price. Grin

What is your reward per block, fellow miners? Mine is embarrassing so you go first Cheesy

Careful

IF you're not discussing or have questions about the damn pool you need to start another topic

Uh oh, vigilante moderator alert! Grin

I believe I was on topic. The current discussion was the newest Antminers and their prices. I saw screenshots relating to the price of an Antminer from one source and saw that a fellow community member mentioned that a better deal exists as another member had posted one.

Further, I was wondering what the other miners at Slush's pool are getting per block. I believe that this is indeed a Slush-specific question as well because the hash rate varies from pool to pool.

^^^ Would not worry too much about that, just that some idiot had turned the thread into something akin to, and I quote, "a personal blog". It was more like a show and tell in a thread that is referenced by others as a repository for information about slush's pool (as the title suggests) and any other obiter-dicta relating there-to.

EDIT: - In any case, good pool luck yesterday and long could it continue today too .... a couple of 1 hr blocks to follow the one we are on would certainly do that.

Also, what you get on slush depends on your hash power AND how long you've been hashing ...
1031 Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: October 28, 2014, 09:12:36 AM
While Slush doesn't visit this thread any more, a lot of people who mine on this pool do. Please stop turning this thread into your private mining blog - while some people enjoy what you have to say, many others do not and it has strayed too far off topic. Start another thread.
Three cheers to common sense and reason, thanks ckolivas, you've saved us!
1032 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: October 28, 2014, 12:03:10 AM
Tough question... Would say.... start plan for the S3+ unit... Cry sorry or may be miracle would happen but S3+ be the best bet!

Does anyone know if Bitmain will sell the S1 upgrade kits again? I'm very happy with the couple I purchased and would like more.
There is something strange, you service the Bitmain warranty yet you do not know that Bitmain expressly said in these pages that the S1 upgrade kit has been discontinued ..... anyway, there you have it.

Everyone ok with this?

30amp Blocks http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300522058809?var=600010575320

Ill get the spades (or something) from local store once the PSU arrives
Yep, now you are ready to rock. For what it's worth, if you are not solder iron averse, ditch the spades and simply solder as it gives a more solid connection.
PS. Could not find any of those PCI-e Sockets with female pins for 49p from the link you gave .... or did I not look closely enough?

There not quite 49p but there close £1.15 for 2 with pins + shipping

http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/cables/connectors/12701/phobya-vga-power-connector-6pin-male-tapered-incl.-6-pins-2-pcs-black?c=2835

Also you say female? Have I just bought the wrong ones lol?

Theres also:
http://www.candccentral.co.uk/smart-vga-connectors/
http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/p/6-Pin-Square-Female-VGA-Power-Connector-White_1082.html
No, the sockets are male sockets but they take female pins (that may have been the confusion). And yes, I saw the 1.15 ones, not the 49p .....
EDIT: PS You got your crimping tool or are you going the pliers' way .... just joking!

slush doesn't allow for manual changing of the diff, is that in the S4's gui???

Check your facts, infact slush NOW allows manual setting of diff.

Oh yeah!

so the person trying to find the correct diff should stop trying as... (to resolve their diff issues)

"Pool will always assign difficulty equal or greater than this value. It is recommended to leave the value empty (it will be assigned automatically)"
And reading the quick updates (left bar on slush)

14.10.2014
Dear Bitmain Antminer S4 owners, we have had reports about incorrect hashrate being displayed in your profile. After investigating this issue, it turned out that the S4 firmware ignores difficulty lower than 2048. You can now set the minimum difficulty in the worker registration table. This ensures that our stratum servers will NOT attempt to give your workers lower difficulty than this threshold.
1036 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: October 26, 2014, 06:17:43 PM

The 6 Pin connecters are exspensive on eBay £2.5 each without pins! I've found another place that sells them for 49p each with pins Smiley

Just calculating the 16 awg cable, at 6 pieces per 6-Pin connector at 600mm thats make it a total of 3.6m per complete leg.

I need 8, 8 x 3.6 = 28.8m

Then I asumme ill need two colours (black and Red) 15m of each should do the trick.
49p with pins .... share the link! (any minimum order qty's?)
Also, bear in mind :
1. Each rail is ~22A and you can draw that with a fully populated 6 pin, BUT it may be awkward to solder 3 16AWG wires on a single terminal (even spading them may be fiddly ....), i.e you may need some 22-25A wires feeding into an inline from where you can connect the socket wires.
2. Before you cut your wires to make your 6 pins, look at the layout you will have your setup in (you may want / need some wires longer depending on your arrangement!)
1037 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: October 26, 2014, 05:54:01 PM

Look at my signature.i sell 24" 16awg pcie cables. The ends are stripped, so it's easy to either solder them to the server PSU, or buy the correct size of pins at a hardware store and crimp them to the wires.

And way cheaper than most other sellers ($1.40-$2 each in the quantity you want, as opposed to $4-6 elsewhere, often with only 18awg)
What is your shipping cost to the UK for 10?
1038 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: October 26, 2014, 05:45:21 PM
Yeah I've been looking at the Server PSU's and there dirt cheap, only problem is I cant find any breakout boards in the UK.
Breakout boards are over-rated! What PSU have you looked at? You can rig-up your very own contraption .... remember, bitcoin mining is about ROI and the less you spend on the PSU the better / faster to ROI. If you are not afraid of the solder iron, you can drastically reduce the cost of a PSU (both in terms of outlay and reliability) by over 90% if not more by going the server PSU way .... your choice!
I use Dell server PSU's and did not need breakout boards for them, simply soldered the wires.

Was looking at this one to power all four.

img<<>>img
That will definitely power all four. All you need is solder a few wires, then connect those wires to an inline cable connector, and then have your PCI-e sockets off the inlines.

Ok I know what to do now...

Now where do I find a ''how to make VGA PCI-e cable with out blowing your self up'' thread
Actually, you can get those cables ready-made from moddiy.com
http://www.moddiy.com/products/DELL1950-2950-PE1950-2950-8-Pin-%252b-6-Pin-PCI%252dE-Power-Cable-%2850cm%252b10cm%29.html
(those are plug and play for that particular PSU!)
EDIT: Scrub that! They are not plug and play for that PSU!

or look on ebay for female pin connectors and 6 pin PCI-e sockets (normally, the person who sells the sockets does the pins too, so if you can not find the pins, search for sockets and enquire from them about the pins). Making them up yourself, I have to say, makes them dirt cheap!

EDIT:
By straight division, each raile has 21.875A so all you'd have to do is have each rail power a single PCI-e socket!
