Yeah I've been looking at the Server PSU's and there dirt cheap, only problem is I cant find any breakout boards in the UK.
Breakout boards are over-rated! What PSU have you looked at? You can rig-up your very own contraption .... remember, bitcoin mining is about ROI and the less you spend on the PSU the better / faster to ROI. If you are not afraid of the solder iron, you can drastically reduce the cost of a PSU (both in terms of outlay and reliability) by over 90% if not more by going the server PSU way .... your choice! I use Dell server PSU's and did not need breakout boards for them, simply soldered the wires. Was looking at this one to power all four. img<<>>img That will definitely power all four. All you need is solder a few wires, then connect those wires to an inline cable connector, and then have your PCI-e sockets off the inlines. Ok I know what to do now... Now where do I find a ''how to make VGA PCI-e cable with out blowing your self up'' thread Actually, you can get those cables ready-made from moddiy.com http://www.moddiy.com/products/DELL1950-2950-PE1950-2950-8-Pin-%252b-6-Pin-PCI%252dE-Power-Cable-%2850cm%252b10cm%29.html (those are plug and play for that particular PSU!)EDIT: Scrub that! They are not plug and play for that PSU! or look on ebay for female pin connectors and 6 pin PCI-e sockets (normally, the person who sells the sockets does the pins too, so if you can not find the pins, search for sockets and enquire from them about the pins). Making them up yourself, I have to say, makes them dirt cheap! The 6 Pin connecters are exspensive on eBay £2.5 each without pins! I've found another place that sells them for 49p each with pins Just calculating the 16 awg cable, at 6 pieces per 6-Pin connector at 600mm thats make it a total of 3.6m per complete leg. I need 8, 8 x 3.6 = 28.8m Then I asumme ill need two colours (black and Red) 15m of each should do the trick.

Each rail is ~22A and you can draw that with a fully populated 6 pin, BUT it may be awkward to solder 3 16AWG wires on a single terminal (even spading them may be fiddly ....), i.e you may need some 22-25A wires feeding into an inline from where you can connect the socket wires. 2. Before you cut your wires to make your 6 pins, look at the layout you will have your setup in (you may want / need some wires longer depending on your arrangement!)

Will post link in about 10 mins just want to get the order finished. Its saying squared or tapered, I assume it doesnt matter for the S3?

Look at my signature.i sell 24" 16awg pcie cables. The ends are stripped, so it's easy to either solder them to the server PSU, or buy the correct size of pins at a hardware store and crimp them to the wires.
And way cheaper than most other sellers ($1.40-$2 each in the quantity you want, as opposed to $4-6 elsewhere, often with only 18awg)
What is your shipping cost to the UK for 10? Prohibitively expensive as if ships from Canada. Probably close to $20 using the cheapest surface option, and closer to $30 for tracking. Shipping to the EU only starts to make sense at >40 units

Yep, now you are ready to rock. For what it's worth, if you are not solder iron averse, ditch the spades and simply solder as it gives a more solid connection. PS. Could not find any of those PCI-e Sockets with female pins for 49p from the link you gave .... or did I not look closely enough?

No, the sockets are male sockets but they take female pins (that may have been the confusion). And yes, I saw the 1.15 ones, not the 49p ..... EDIT: PS You got your crimping tool or are you going the pliers' way .... just joking!

since i got them they have been steady at 453 @225.
since i updated the FW and put the FW back to the 826 FW, reset them and put them back @ 225 one is 446 and one is 438.. also they keep beeping..
what do i do??
edit, i think the beeping is from ghash.io i have in the #3 spot keeps going down.. even tho i have it set to not beep.. any ideas on that too?

You can always downgrade to the prior firmware. M

I'm currently thinking about buying one of those. However, the price in the EU is kinda high (compared to the price from Bitmain directly (even with shipping)), so I'd like to ask how many mBtc does one device generate at current diff in average per day? thanks in advance.
anyone? I'm looking for some real world numbers, not from a calculator. I just want to calculate how much I would be willing to pay for a S3+

I have one S3 now that seems to be broken. The LED's on the nic light up and blink like usual. When I reset and reboot, the red LED light will blink 8-9 times fast then 1 slow blink and repeats about a dozen times then turns off. I cannot access the web gui at any time. Can anyone tell me what is at fault here? Maybe I can use the parts from an S1 to bring it back to life?

Can you try hard reset by pressing the button with a paperclip for a few seconds and then wait for 2 minutes and turn it off? If the reset worked, the IP address will be 192.168.1.99 the button is right side of the Ethernet port. I have one S3 now that seems to be broken. The LED's on the nic light up and blink like usual. The red LED flashes like the other devices while they are booting up then all LED's go off after the initial flickering. But: After a hard reset using the pin, it will do the initial red LED bootup flicker, it then goes into the fast blink 8-9 times then 1 slow blink repeated for a dozen times then red led light goes off. NIC LED lights are unaffected at any time. WebGUI is inaccessible at any time.

Question re S3 cleaning:
In S1 it was kind of clear when too much "stuff' accumulated, but since S3 is closed, I don't know what is going on inside without opening. Would you still stop it and remove dust (around fans as in S1) or just keep going as long as miners are performing?

I see Bitmain have just uploaded another firmware update - anyone tried it? I'll let someone else be the guinea pig this time after wasting over 24 hours with the last one that didn't work, have they fixed it? Peace EDIT: @ Bitmain: Can we also have the S2 firmware you promised us over 2 months ago now?
