Real creative commons logo:

Don't use the Chanel logo and try to make it seem like the creative commons logo, it's insulting.
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Advertising spam is not allowed on: October 11, 2014, 12:31:53 AM
As much as you don't like the saying, but it's true: I don't make the rules, the admins do. I am also not an alt miner, nor a day trader and I often participate in older coins so this rule affects me the least. I may give suggestions to the admins, however, I really don't have a strong opinion against either side and the final descision still goes to theymos.

You are a smart guy that understand alone when it's a SPAM and when it's a GOOD information. You cannot delete all that you find. Rules must to be interpreted and applyed different for every case.

FaSan
That's what I do every time. However, referring to the service, with a clear intent to advertise/promote a service is still prohibited as per the definition of the rule. Also, discussion of individual services is off-topic and should be taken to the main thread of said service, since the coin thread is meant for a discussion about the coin, not websites using them.

When people are discussing about a coin, they discuss:
1. Mining pools
2. Exchanges
Everything else is secondary, so your reasoning doesn't make any sense and the more you repeat it, the more obvious it becomes.

Sorry for being rude - but doesn't this make you the wrong man for the job in moderating the altcoin forums ?

its like letting a vegetarian moderate a board about sausage specialities...

Don't take it personal ;-)

I start to think ipominer does this scams

See pattern
1. New account makes a coin
2. Ipoadds it
3. Bittrex adds
4. Ends as scam

100% scam coins always hit ipominer before bittrex

I somehow doubt that IPOMiner is on it, knowing its ownership for nearly a year now and watching them weather storm after storm.

Though they do look suspicious, it is inherent to the nature of how they do business.

IPOMiner gets its competitive edge over other pools by taking the calculated risk in mining newly-released coins, oftentimes before they have been listed on an exchange.

Usually it works well for them, as a decent sized bag can be mined while the coin is still of little to no value before being listed that then becomes a substantial value once listed and the market establishes a price.

Having scamcoins pass through their system is as much of a burden on ipominer as it is on bittrex, precisely because people come back and accuse them of being in on it when the warning signs clearly state trade/mine at your own risk.

And both bittrex and ipominer have made great strides in detecting and shutting down scams as quickly as possible. Bittrex's system reacted with no human intervention to suspend ghost when abnormal activity was detected, with ipominer switching off and suspending it very soon after.

As far as the future for ghost though, this exploit is effectively the same nature as what happened to USB. While in this case bittrex suspended the coin before the scamdevs could successfully dump the illicit coin, the rollback required to undo those transactions would still result in a substantial loss of profit for all of the exchanges to have been trading at the time of the exploit.

Combine that loss of profit with the loss of developer trust, and the history that shows coins to have such scams happen seldom if ever recover, and you have a situation where allowing the coin to return is a pretty significant gamble for the exchanges while offering sadly little profit because people just want to dump their bags and get away from the mess.

It would save everyone a lot of time to just call the chain a total loss and move on.

IPOminer's legit, they were as surprised and affected as every one of us. The scammer is the dev, no one else.
This was done with such intention and planning that If it weren't for Bittrex's alarm system and ocminer's block explorer we wouldn't have known what happened.

1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Advertising spam is not allowed on: October 08, 2014, 07:30:58 PM
In response to the rule, we will not stop announcing that we have listed the coin. Instead, we're posting this:

----

<COIN NAME> has just been added to a mystery exchange which we are not allowed to mention by name! If you can figure out which one it is based on who's posting this, you might be lucky enough  to get over there to trade! But, due to the new absurd "advertising spam" rules (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=718124.0) we are not allowed to say who we are.  Because that's advertising. So, let's hope you can figure it out! We're hoping this isn't advertising spam as we are not mentioning any exchange, and the coin could have been posted  to any, really. What a mystery!

The coin is possibly (but maybe not) live and available right now, although the blockchain might still be downloading and deposits might not appear until this is complete. Assuming an exchange, randomly chosen, did in fact, list it.

We have (or will very soon) post an announcement on Twitter as well. Follow us on twitter (@all_crypt or https://twitter.com/All_Crypt - Hope it's ok to post a twitter handle! We were only told we cannot post links to our sites?) to help spread the word and keep abreast of site news and updates.

We'd very much appreciate being listed as an active exchange in the OP of the this thread. If you'd like a high quality PNG logo to use, a zip is available at:

http://www.[figure it out for yourself].com/aclogopack.zip

An important note: It sucks for everyone when there is a fork, or a version upgrade, and we don't get notified. Sometimes developers just tweet that there is an upgrade. We're busy  running the site - we do not have time to read every tweet we are mentioned in every day. We read them, in time, but if it's an emergency upgrade (a fork) or there is a hard fork coming in less than a week - we may not see it. We unfortunately do not have time to read every forum thread of every coin we list - we'd love to - and we do read the forums as much as we can, but keeping up with every coin would be a full time job for multiple people. We'd rather spend that money on hardware and new code and features. Wink

The only truly RELIABLE way to ensure we know about a mandatory upgrade is to submit a support ticket. Just have someone hop by http://support.[mystery website].com and let us know. We see those all the time, and some of us have the app on our phones and see support tickets instantly.

If for some reason your github source changes (community takeover for example) PLEASE let us know that in the ticket. We save the github sources so we don't have to scour for it again later - and if you have an upgrade, but we're checking the old source code, it will really delay the upgrade. You only need to provide a github source if the source has changed.

I think that covers it! Thanks for your support of [insert random exchange name here] and we're proud to support you in return! You know, assuming we actually did list the coin. We might not have.

-----

If that's advertising spam, I'll change it again. And again. Until it reaches the point that accounts owned by pools/exchanges/websites are not allowed to post ANYTHING AT ALL. You know, until the real reason this is being done is fulfilled - until we pay.

I think we'd all rather it just be said plainly: "Pay us." At least that'd have a small degree of respectability. Whats hilarious is that none of us, except maybe Bittrex and Mintpal and Cryptsy are likely making enough money off these endeavors to afford to pay the absurdly high advertising rates here. I've looked into it. Hiring someone to run a precisely targeted AdWords campaign is cheaper than tiny advertising space here. The last aucton ended with a slot costing 4 BTC for 1 week. They are stating about 2 million impressions, but there are only about 200k unique IPs. No statistics about click-throughs, which is what just about everyone else uses, so, hard to compare. And since there are 8 slots, people always buy more than 1 to increase their visibility. Lowest last round was 2 slots. At 4 BTC each.

For $2400 I can get one hell of an awesome Google AdWords rep putting on one amazing ad campaign. For a hell of a lot longer than a week. With infinitely more visibility.

Bargain this site is.

Any kind of service advertising in other people's threads is not allowed, including indirectly referring to your service ("we're up", "we've added the coin", "see our twitter/facebook/sig").

As per this rule, discussion of individual/specific services/websites is considered off-topic.

It is not off-topic, how can it possibly be considered off-topic if this information is pertinent and necessary for each of the coins?. No, it's a dumb rule without any thought behind it and it doesn't make any sense at all, so please don't say that services being announced in a coin's thread is off-topic because it's not.
1031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED] SeedCoin | Buy/Mine SEED & Grow Coinbase | MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE on: October 08, 2014, 01:29:48 AM
Dev: You deleted minerpools from the op because of the fork which was caused by your failed update?

The pool has been on the right fork for the past 12hrs and after several PMs you stil haven't updated the OP, next time you're releasing a mandatory update, please let everyone know and test the code in advance.

Also investigating now ... will keep you updated

Lol you are part of this scam.

lol me ? I'm just running a pool .. why am i part of it ?

True, suprnova is a pool as is not responsible for what coin devs do, if it weren't for ocminer's block explorer this wouldn't have shown up.

Dev: Please say something ASAP.

Bumping for community awareness.

Bumping once again
1038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shecke=scamcoin on: October 07, 2014, 03:16:27 AM
I'm pretty sure it's another Carsen scam, here's three red flags:

1. Mentioned that Suchpool would be adding the coin, he always does this
2. Huge Hidden pre-mine
3. Talking about giving to the community just like he did with his CK coin which went nowhere.
4. Censors and delete any posts questioning the "project"

1039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GHOST] GhostCoin | X11 | PoW + PoS | Live! on: October 05, 2014, 08:36:10 PM
Heavy DDOs attack on our ghost pool, frontend will be down for the next 4 hours while the pool's fully recovered.
Stratum's up and running and finding blocks, however, if you'd like to, in the meantime you can choose from the pools listed.

I apologize for the inconvenience and will make sure to let you know once it's up and running again.

So what pool is everybody going to use?

Several, lots of different options you can choose from in the op.
