Just wondering if either one of you or anybody else that did get not get the compensation received the request from Bitmain for a wallet address to send it to a few weeks back?

They asked me if my address was the same.  If not, please provide one.

Well it looks like I received my Batch 1 compensation about 1 hour ago from Bitmain. Thank you

Wooohooo! I got mine toooooo!

Same here...Bitmain came through on their promise.

Wow, good on bitmain. Looks like they've improved since the S4 PSU fiasco.

Agreed...

Got mine too.

Thanks BITMAIN!

bitmain listed their 3 pin s7 control board on their web.

Thanks for the heads up.  I just ordered 4 BB Boards and 4 IO Boards.  I would feel more comfortable with spares near by to reduce down time in the event of unforeseen events.

I actually bought a couple of the different radiator fans a while back on Amazon - completely worthless.  The CFM values are definitely not even remotely close to what they claim.  They also have about zero static pressure (probably because they're intended to be in situations where air is basically forced in most of the time), so are terrible in any restrictive setting.

The only consumer-y thing I've bought that's worth anything are these:

http://amzn.to/1Ok7W8a

You can get similar ones from Home Depot and Lowes, and they definitely move a fair bit of air.  I usually set these up in tandem, with the auto-close grates.  The thing you have to consider with smaller fans is that if they stop working, and you have a channel that is restrictive in any way, they're going to short circuit (meaning the fans adjacent to the failed fan will just suck air back in from the exhaust side).

I also would recommend just finding multi-speed fans, instead of trying to use a motor controller to control speed.  It just adds cost and heat, with very little upside IMO.  Depending on where you're located, you could also look into buying used swamp coolers - they generally have a decent belt-drive squirrel cage blower that will be in the 3k-4k CFM range.  In Arizona they're cheap as hell, typically only a couple hundred bucks used, and have great static pressure.

The other thing to consider doing if noise is an issue is just make sure the air channels are not straight - make sure you have larger than necessary ducting, and then put two 90 degree turns in it - and if you're doing ducting, get the kind with internal insulation (looks similar to heavy duty bubble wrap), this will also diffuse the sound.  I have 2 of those fans linked above exhausting in a similar setup, and you can barely hear the sound on the vents outside (similar to what you'd expect from a laundry machine).

Anyway, hopefully that helps save you wasting money on those radiator fans.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the radiator fans.  I won't bother purchasing them now.

I already have two of the following fan:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002R1XFP2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_4&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I will purchase 2 more after my power upgrade.  I'll end up having 2 of them pulling heat out and 2 of them pushing fresh air in.  That should help with redundant air flow.

Hi all I just registered for the pool it told me registration complete however when I try to log in it says Login Failed has anyone experianced this in the past? How can I fix it? I already tried resetting PW and still the same?

Deleted previous statement.

EDIT:  I see you in the "Stats" page now.  So, it looks like you made it on.  Welcome to the pool.  You may want to go to the far right on kano.is webpage and click "Help."  Then click "Payout" to understand how the payouts work if you haven't done so already.

1027  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: IBM 4KW PSU (Dual DPS-2000BB) Breakout Boards and Packages!!! on: January 14, 2016, 07:16:04 AM
Anyone know if these IBM PSU will automatically shutdown at certain temperature threshold?  Just preparing for the summer especially since power 3 x S7 Batch 8/9 will be maxing these PSU at 100% load.  Want to make sure there's some extra safety built into these PSU like how the Antminer have auto shutdown at 80C

I know the 2880's and the 2980's do.  It may be the 2000 BB's do as well.  However, I've never had the 2000 BB's.  So, I cannot say for certain.

Thank you for the updates.  Much appreciated.

I remember now when you mentioned "once a day."

That payment was so fast after the 101 confirmations, I just assumed it was "automated."   Cheesy

LOL

Come on now.

High Rpms are at the exhaust

Agreed...  I have rigs like this but high RPM's at the intake.  I haven't bothered to take the time to see if the fans are different.
Some fan hubs are bigger , it is glaring.
You could put both intakes on one both exhaust on the other

I thought some had different fans on front and rear.  Some the same fans.

All my S7 fan speed is set to manual at 60%.   Is there a reason why the speed is not at a steady speed?  I have some that is showing 3700/4080 RPM and some showing 4040/4440 and 4040/4800!  The 2 screetching ones are the ones that happens to be on the higher RPMs.   Is FAN 1 the Intake FAN or EXHAUST fan?

I'm curious...  Have a close look at the front and rear of the rigs to see if they are the exact same fan.  They may actually be different.  I have seen post in the past in this forum with different fans on rigs.

It is sad as I liked the even miners with PSU was really nice.  But I would agree I think we not see a S8.   S4's were one of my favorite miners I have had with nice build quality and LCD's.  Also at end I did well on resell so I really liked them.  I  was lucky though and never had a PSU quit on mine.

I predict we see another 3 bay again on future miners, it allows them to use same cases they are already getting made.   And I think will still use the bitmain psu they are selling, adds to profit selling a psu ontop of miner.

I'm not to sure when it will happen though.  I think they will be on current gen for a while longer (I could be wrong though all speculation).

Agreed...  Current generation is here for a while.  At least until the block halving.

It makes more sense as well to keep the present 3 blade closure.  It would be nice if people had the option to simply have new blades shipped to them and swap out the blades for an upgrade.

OR

Simply buy new blades with controller and closure.

Hi Kano,

Was that our first "automated" payment?
1035  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: January 14, 2016, 01:08:06 AM
UPS and Fedex both seem to work fine for me.  DHL is really hit/miss depending on where you live, I live on the edge of one of the routes.  This means the DHL guy receives it quickly then sometimes ships through USPS mail when he does not want to drive to my edge of his route.... so sucks horribly and adds day's.

I really like UPS thought.  I've had probley the best luck with them overall.

Same here...  Better luck with UPS.  The only time I use DHL is for any shipments I may get from J4bberwock in France.  The DHL driver will call me and I will meet them at Wendy's Restraunt about 15 minutes away to avoid having to wait longer.

Thanks again for the reply and your help, Prelude.

Can anyone tell me HOW I would connect this 280mm x 280mm x 80mm fan to 230 Volts?

It probably has terminals for you to connect the wires to directly, then you can put whatever plug you want on the other end? Nice looking fan.

So, this is not a fan to connect to 12VDC apparently.  It sounds like [From what you are saying] I need to buy a cord from Amazon or local hardware store for 208 to 240 VAC and wire it up to the fan [Plugging it directly into 208 to 240 VAC?  If this is the case, do you have any particular 208 to 240 VAC receptacle and cord to recommend?

Yes, not 12V DC, it's 220-240V AC. It's rated at 181.7w (0.79A x 230v) so really any wire will do. I'd probably use 14AWG flexible extension wires since I have plenty of that lying around, but you could use 18AWG with ease. If you're going to have a bunch of them on your door, I'd skip the plug and wire them all together in an electrical junction box wired for 240V.

Yes, that's exactly what I had in mind with the junction box wiring up multiple fans.  If I end up going this route, I will not begin the purchase of these until AFTER my power upgrade.  I'm already spending quite a chunk of change on the power upgrade.  Waiting on 2 more quotes to be emailed to me.

Not sure but Papst makes some badass fans

So the "Duty Cycle" on these fans is for quite a long time?

The reason I ask is because the "Duty Cycle" on the radiator fans at 100% 24/7 is probably only about 2000 hours (83 days).

I think you're confusing duty cycle with MTBF. I have no doubt that those Papst will last MUCH longer than the radiator fans, but you should look up their rated MTBF.

Yes Sir, I was confusing them.  I think I might go ahead and order two of those radiator fans at $23.99 each for the hell of it to have them going 24/7 to see how long they last.  However, I believe these Papst are the way to go.  I think it's more important at the moment to have 2 x 30 inch 7,800 CFM fans (15,600 CFM total) pulling heat out at the window in the mining closet and 2 x 30 inch 7,800 CFM fans (15,600 CFM total) pulling fresh air into the recreation room at the other window for redundancy.  Dance, was right in the "Miner Photo Porn" forum about the importance of having back up fans going in case a fan breaks down.  So, I think that holds higher priority than the other fans in the doors at the moment.

The S2 and S4.

Makes sense.  S2 same chips as S1 but more of them to increase efficiency just a bit.  Same with the S4 having more of the same chips than the S3 to increase power efficiency and hash rate.

It's hard for me to imagine an S8 with same form factor as the S2 and S4 because they would need more than one PSU inside more than likely.  However, I'm not saying they won't do it.  It's hard to say what they will or will not do.
