Don't really know what that means, it's a "visko fan" the hotter it gets the more it connects to the engine and the more it turns, its some kind of fluid and a bimetal thingi inside.
Yes. Clutched just means the coupling to the engine is controllable. Just means it shouldn't be as bad as a constantly connected one. Like this:  I think they went electric in the later years though and conversions were common. |

This guy did a test, he drove 400 km, same route, with and without a fan. The fan is most useful at low speeds and when not moving. As I found out once upon a time. It looks like his fan is clutched though? I believe my wife's mini ran the fan constantly. |

That Ford Capri of mine didn't have a rear window heater either, I also added a aftermarket one. I remember it was a sticker type thing, peel of the protective plastic and attach it to the window and plug in the the two wires to a power source via a switch. Simple and worked pretty well, but ugly as f.
They don't make them anymore, I was looking for one a couple of years ago as replacement for the broken one on the car I had back then.
Same here. It had two metal strips you had to tuck the metal sticker into. Well worth doing as the metal in my wheel wells had rusted through and water would get inside the car and everything would fog up. You might have been able to fix it with silver paint which I've seen advertised for exactly that purpose. Electric fans is nothing new to me however, my SAAB 900 from -88 had one.
You can test them but it's one of those things that if you have it out to test, you may as well replace it anyway. I've been putting it off on my car as the housing is a bit of a PITA to remove. |

NFT works in the modern meme culture way I suppose, so long as there is excess liquidity theres people who want to own a unique icon. It doesn't establish copyright or a claim of ownership exactly so its more then a little confusing. It seems to be something of a courtesy to usage by the creator not a sale, until there is a legal precedent to establish NFT I assume it will not appreciate over time ie. years. It's OK to say it's bullshit here  |

I know there were all sorts of similar mods available for the Mini but that was a bit of an enthusiasts' car. The fan really is just a drain on economy and power when it's not needed and if you have a small engine, that can mean a lot. I believe there was even aftermarket AC available. |

So how does it work nowadays then?
Typically the points are done solid state and you just have a coil per plug or cylinder (coil packs). So no need to be switching high voltages around and no moving parts. Fans are no longer driven with fan belts either No more shoving cardboard down the front of the radiator on cold days. |

i dont miss distributors.. used to keep a can of WD40 (or wire dryer) in the vehicles to spray the cap and plug wires when they got wet.
Me either. I got stranded on the side of a motorway because of a faulty distributor cap once. Got religious about distributor maintenance after that. |
