1041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How was your first Bitcoin experience? on: September 03, 2023, 06:31:09 PM
So, I am sitting here thinking about how my first Bitcoin experience was, and I can't remember. Suddenly, I am thinking, how was your first Bitcoin experience? If you remember your first Bitcoin experience so please tell me.
It all started in this forum although I have read articles about this technology earlier than I got here. Bounties, faucets, & Airdrops. Since I was still a student that time, this industry really helped me financially to support my studies and daily expenses which also pushed me to explore more of this technology.
My first encounter with Bitcoin and this forum was kinda embarrassing, some of members in this forum might now a ponzi scam project called Bitconnect, one of my relative joined this cult --before it turns into scam definitely-- and they try to promote it to me. I know it was too good to be true, and then I do some research on it, then I found about Crypto, Bitcoin and then this forum. I actually mistaken Bitconnect and Bitcoin the first time, I thought both are the same.

That's nothing to be ashamed of, I was also someone who knew about bitcoin through investing in bitcoinnect, which was a big project at the time. One thing we need to know is that ponzi projects or HYIP investments were very popular at that time so it was inevitable that we would be drawn into those scam projects. Those are just experiences for our investment journey, nothing to be ashamed of. I also believe that not only you and me but almost everyone will participate because then no one doesn't want to make a profit.
You'd only know that a project is fraud or scam once it get down to its motive but first they will need to establish the trust from their audience, and I think it is just a normal response to be hooked into it. There's infinity of tendencies for us to be fooled in this industry given that almost everything is with anonymity. Some had a good start and ofcourse some are not having the same start up.
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is more profitable? on: September 03, 2023, 05:57:33 PM
Just one bitcoin
Bitcoin is the most profitable crypto to all investors. Bitcoin is the first digital asset to hit the crypto market. In fact it was more profitable for its early investors.
I disagree. Bitcoin is just the first crypto to be acknowledged by this industry but I doubt it is the most profitable one. This has something to do with risk. There are many crypto having way higher market peice activity or increase which basically generates bigger profit but also, it would be creating bigger risk. Bitcoin jist happened to have a more visible pattern with its market price action compared to a more volatile ones. So determining which is more profitable depends on the investor whether he/she prefers high risk - high reward kind of asset or the other way around. Profit does not depend on the asset by the way, but to the extent of how will it be handled.
1043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over fiat and local banks on: September 03, 2023, 05:14:42 PM
Yes, my bitcoins are accessible 24/7 for 365 days in a year.... other than centralized services that cannot help you outside of office hours, when you run into problems with your Banking Apps or your ATM cards.  Roll Eyes

I can also have my bitcoins in Paper wallets, where I am not paying "fees" for someone else "securing" my money.  Roll Eyes Also, something that very little people know, is the fact that there are not enough money in the Banks for everyone to withdraw their money, if there are some crisis. (In Greece... Banks closed their doors and put limits on people's withdrawals during a Bank run .... so people could not withdraw their own money)  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
This is how the banking system plays with our intellect . Honestly their are no enough money that is why all time banks put limit to the money customers can withdraw for the day because they want they want the little money they have to go round. The bank tend to have money and claims keeping money is safe and yet people still struggle to get back their money . Bitcoin  is nothing but freedom and it is accessible in the 24hours of the day. I'm so glad for Bitcoin because if not for Bitcoin the banking system would have played with the intelligence of People and keep people in a situation as if they do not have right to do whatever they want to do with their money.
Yes, we are all aware of Bitcoin's advantages but banking and Biycoin in the first place are two different tecnhology and system. One has limitiation and same thing with the other. For example, we have the accessibility with crypto anytime we would want to but would you be using it 24/7? 'coz for sure we are mostly into holding more than spending it due to profit potential. And with banking, amounts we can withdraw is limited but that's dependent with the amount we may put into it. Banking and fiat are accepted and accessible widely across countries while Bitcoin is not. However, wiyh Bitcoin it has a higher increase rate which generates way bigger profit from investing into it. Fiat and crypto are both currencies but are having different characteristics which I think it is nonsense to compare. Let us jist allow people to use whichever would give more convenience depending on your goals and lifestyles.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About Altcoins Investment Experience on: September 01, 2023, 07:23:58 PM
actually investing in small coins is a way for us to go to real investment, namely investing in btc and eth.  I also have some coins from the bounty program I'm in.  when it can be sold, then I sell it and I use it for daily expenses and if the results I get are rather big, then I invest in btc or eth
Well there are investors who prefer small altcoins than mainstream ones. Downside is high rate of market price voaltility unlike with big names of this industry. On the same manner, it generates higher risk. I do also invest to some but more of a short term investment on these coins 'coz I find it nore profitable than with my other assets being held and some planned to be held for a period of time to generate more.

There are many altcoins to choose from but to choose the best for everyone's habit of investment. So far I made huge from altcoin investment, higher than with other projects. Unfortunately, most of the newly listed ones are being a problem when it comes with actual holding and endurance of this ons.
1045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: presuring someone into Bitcoin investment on: September 01, 2023, 06:49:28 PM
Like you said in one of your thread that you invested in Bitcoin since 2017 and you pressured your mom to invest in Bitcoin two years back that is 2021 I think so, I believe with out you pressuring your mom to invest in Bitcoin two years back I believe with your achievements as you claimed your mom will see it and invest in Bitcoin, anyway is a pity that your mom doesn't trust you as she think that you will fraud her of her money.
Please next time you want to tell person about Bitcoin don't force the person because the person will think that you are a scammer just as your mother did.

I remember, there were similar posts such as this one where people were trying to compel others to learn and invest about BTC.

Remember that this applies to anything- trying to compel someone to learn about a certain subject can result to failure if they are not 100% wholeheartedly invested. If you try to compel them in investing into something they are not keen to begin with, you are just pushing your own ideals to them, without the latter fully understanding on what they are investing on.

Instead of forcing people to learn and invest about BTC, just initiate the topic about them. If they start to ask questions and curious, then that is the time where you can start explaining to them about cryptocurrencies.
I'm not sure if they're just too optimistic of this industry or if they are just making stories. Indeed if more people will know what and how this industry works, but in such way we are just exposing more people to risk. Let them seek with curiousity and interest. Sharing your knowledge is different from pressuring someone into something they're not familiar with. One's actions are affected by their knowledge and awareness of something. Maybe experienced investors are gaining profit but since they're still new, their decision making in every market price changes would be different as well. Guide them and let them decide wether to continue or not.
1046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 01, 2023, 06:18:29 PM
What is the one behaviour you noticed in a gambler and  you dislike it? You don't need to have a reason for disliking it but you just do.

As for me I dislike when gamblers complain of their losses, meanwhile you hear them complain when they are getting winnings.

What about you, what do you dislike ?
Gamblers which are ironic. They're too thrilled to gamble and to win bigtime in an instant and not minding how much they have lost already. These gamblers tend to be surprised and sorrowful once they realize what is left for them. We ain't kids no more thus, we should atleast have awareness of our actions. It is okay to regret our wrongdoings but to continue doing the same mistake should be a problem being solved by us. Also, I hate those who tend to invite people towards gambling industry. Let them have the initiative to bet atleast in such way they'd be ready of the negative consequences 'coz itis them who push themselves toward gambling.
1047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rant: Casinos should hire people who knows about what they do on: September 01, 2023, 05:19:06 PM
So, I'm working on casino reviews and sometimes I'll be forced to reach out to a specific casino for information. Especially, when it's not listed on the casino website.

But in 9 out of the 10 situations, I've noticed that these customer supports don't know anything about the website, but why are they working there?

Just today, I was asking the support of a casino why the sportsbook section on the casino website is redirecting me to another platform and he doesn't understand what I mean.

So please if you're a casino owner here, hire people who understand simple things about gambling. This is not good for business at all!
Have never encountered one but most of the support behind casinos are unresponsive and only a few are really being of a help with my concerns. In this cited situation, it would be okay if Customer support won't be too knowledgeable with technical issues but atleast they should raise it to the team in charge for them to act in accordance with the concern. I've been into customer service and for me it will never be valid to know nothing about your company or atleast know what to do with such instances 'coz customers should be heard in parrocular with their concerns.

I hope services will be improved someday and would be as responsive as they should be 'coz if there are platforms who manage to do so  they why are they lacking to it.
1048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Socialtournaments-A way to stop gambling addiction on: September 01, 2023, 04:43:49 PM
I don't know if many of you knows SocialTournaments where they hold free tournaments with different types, maximum multiplier, total points score and other related slot machines tournament, they are managed by Pragmatic Play provider and it is a way to invite people to gambling but I see it as an alternative to people who are addicted, they can stop the addiction as they offer enough daily, weekly and monthly tournaments to keep you entertained without you spending any money and if you are in luck and get the biggest multiplier or biggest score you even win real money to your account which you can withdraw to your crypto wallets.

I am in no way affiliated with them and you need big KYC,Proof of Address,National ID and Proof of Wallet to get your money.Do you think this platform can help people remove addiction,I think it can be a big boost to do so.
Chances of winning ain't that high. Also, avoiding addiction depends to the gambler himself. This is a good thing no doubt but would it work 24/7? 'coz gambling provider won't be earning that much to sustain this "program"if that's the case, and if not then that should already be an answer to the question. However, as I've said, it depends on the gambler whether to get invokved that much to gambling activities or not. As long as such drive to win and be rich in an instant or to get back with losses, are there then we cannot expect less. But mentioned activies will indeed lessen the the tendency of players to engage with betting problem is it won't be open always for players who would want to play and win, also prone to abuse.
1049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: big bets, guaranteed match on: August 31, 2023, 06:29:20 PM
the time is now 12:49pm ET, the match starts in about 11 minutes

these are guaranteed bets but I can’t say how I know, expect plenty of goals and little defence

So this is the hypothetical bet that you are discussing on the topic your created before that turns out true.

That amount at Stake is pretty high but there’s a serious concern here if the prediction was right. You might get tagged as involved to match fixing if your source sells this call on multiple user that place bet big time on same match. Keep safe since this is a huge amount.
To test the bet and to see it for yourself. Ofcourse doubt would be there but you won't bet on it if you don't have enoigh basis or trust into it won't you? Unless you are just too thrilled and excited to get an easy win, which should be avoided. This is gambling industry and no such thing as assured outcome exist unless results would be altered or cheating such as inside info would be done. Unfair as well to other players who are putting their luck on the line. And yes, be careful as well to not bet everything on it just because of that information as long as you yourself has the assurance. When I first saw your previous post it gave me an initial question of why would that informant give you something as important as the winning bet if he could bet on it all by himself. Be careful.
1050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has your Responsible Gambling had any of these Effects on You? on: August 31, 2023, 05:26:41 PM
Obviously yes, financial and with my overall functioning as an individual. I get to enjoy playing without stressing that much because of losses unlike before when I wast too hyped and thrilled of winning bigtime. It also helped me managing my mood 'coz before  whenever I am losing my temper also shortens that I'm most of the time irritated. I get to do my job as well because I am able to cope up with my gambling habits. These could be small things to some but for sure these things are worse especially if addiction take over. Gambling should be an activity to entertain us and not for us to stress about.
1051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What does it take to play casino? on: August 31, 2023, 04:31:53 PM
No specific amount but should be something you can afford losing; as most of us know. This is even cliché to hear. In gambling, we're more likely to lose than to win. This is a better mindset than to believe that you'd have that luck to hit a jackpot 'coz that would push you to play more and despite of losses.
There is absolutely no basic or advanced technique that can make you win in gambling, it's all based on luck and that is the only factor that matters when you are playing gambling games. You might use some techniques to improve your research and analysis abilities when you are betting on sports events which might increase your chances of winning but even after that, there is no guarantee that you will win a bet because luck will still have its influence.

The mindset that you can make guaranteed money from gambling is wrong because it is not a tool that you can use to earn money but it is something that you should use for entertainment and just trying your luck because if you think of it as a source of earning money, you will keep losing your money.
It does not matter how many times we warn those people they are not going to listen, in their minds making money with gambling is possible and nothing that we say to them is going to change their opinion, so the only thing that can convince them this is the case is to lose their money several times at the casino, and maybe even that would not be enough, as people like them could develop a gambling addiction and keep gambling just to try to recover the money they have lost.
Indeed, some lessons in life will be learned the hard way. No matter what caution you give them, if they are still having that drive to play more then let them be and see it for themselves. We would be guilty as well since most of us here experienced huge loss before actually restricting ourselves. We just cannot instantly remove the idea that in gambling there is a chance to win big time.
1052  Economy / Gambling / Re: Unethical Practices: Involvement of Bots and Fake Accounts for contest/race on: August 30, 2023, 06:49:15 PM
Without any evidence no one is going to take this allegation serious, of course there have been some reports of bit involvement in the game process and the user overall experiences have been manipulated using some special tools like bots that you mentioned but none have been proven with any form of evidence.

So Megaplay will still remain innocent of this allegation until proven guilty and from the look of things,  your claims lack that evidence to prove them guilty,  but it is a good thing that we are discussing this so that gamblers will be aware of such possibilities.
I agree and the rule as we all know is to accusation will remain one unless otherwise proven. Proving this on the other hand won't be done instantly, there'll be a whole lot of process and that invomves the site's cooperation on this one. So I guess this would be inpossible. If ever Megaplay would be at the edge of being guilty, they can just abandon the gambling platform and make a new one under other people's names. If this is true it will be totally wrong and not only unethical 'coz it is a form of cheating on their end.
It's very simple to detect in case some gamblers don't know, when you make suspicious activities over the gambling platforms they begin to track and trace your steps till you're finally apprehended, I don't know how unacceptable is thebuse of bot on some of the gambling sites today than what their ToS clearly states on that, creating fake account with the intention of making an achievement will not last because the whole thing will later cast and be known, why are we then in rush from doing the norms in an absurd ways and manners that are provoking to hear.
Or simply move away from that site if you are being suspiscious of it unless your funds are being held by them. Ofcourse we would be wanting justice for those who were taken advantage of, if ever this is true. However that won't be too easy in web 3.0 for sure.
1053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Five Ways Bitcoin is Changing the Sports Betting Game on: August 30, 2023, 05:50:00 PM
I do agree with anonymity, but with others, it would be hard for me to say yes as well. I've been betting using fiat and crypto but things are somewhat the same except for anonymity and avoiding taxes. But with speed, in my area I'd say both paymebt options are somewhat the same. With fiat  there is a traffic with 'orders' becaude each payments are being sent to your mobile banking but with crypto is thru exchanges. With odds, I think it is because of the volume of bettors which are obviously larger with fiat which creates differences on it. Let's be real; using crypto in online gambling has its own advantages and so do fiat sinply because there's a huge difference with overall adoption of these two. But if it is jist by concept then for sure betting through Bitcoin and other cryptos would be better however it is not as widely being used yet which creates limitations into it as well.
1054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: August 30, 2023, 05:12:28 PM
If someone told you a guaranteed sports bet that had a 100% chance of winning, how much would you bet on it?

If you had a $10,000 bankroll, would you go all in? We’re talking 100% can’t lose bet.

Would you take out a loan? How would you go about acquiring a large sum of money if you didn’t have the capital.

Let’s say the match is starting 24 hours from now, what would be your plan to maximize your profit?

Asking for a friend  Wink
If you're 100% of it then betting all of it would be a good thing to do. A hundred percent means no risk of losing in comparison with just having high chances of winning; these are two different things. Bit if it is jist a subjective claim then  betting on it won't have a 100% guarantee so betting just a portion would be best in this instance. Taking a loan is not necessary, it'll just put you in more trouble, also being greedy won't put you to somewhere better. I do agree that it depends on that someonw who would ckaim a no chance of losing bet. Bottomline lies between a subjective claim and an assured statement. Asking for his assurance would be best as well and if he would be able to support that claim of his/her with facts, then going all out would be good but never to push you to put more into that bet.
1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Constant wins in the casino for several days, then constant losses. Noticed?! on: August 30, 2023, 03:52:52 PM
That's just how gambling works; you would win sometimes and lose often. But this has nothing to do with such pattern but rather more of a coincidence. If you would observe it clearly, there'll be no consistency with such thing. You will even sometimes lose for a month and vice versa. There's no assurance with gambling but I prefer assuming a more often losses in order for me to prevent myself from being too greedy of winning.
Playing for many years, I observe a certain series of wins and losses. It looks like it every time! Also in casino chats, a lot of people talk about it.

How do you win and lose?

You should have posted a screenshot on those chats, I noticed this several times but I just treat it as a series of luck and house edge coming into play, I never think of it as a sort of manipulation, for me there are days where anything you do leads to losses and there are days whatever you bet you win.
How I win depends so much on my luck in luck-based games and on sports betting it's on my analysis, if my analysis is good I have a good chance to win and make money, that's all there is to me, if I think there's manipulation I have to feel it and I should back it up with proofs.
If most of the players are saying such thing  then it could be a fact however, you'd just sometimes associate outcomes and form such pattern to compensate with outcomes especially when losing 'coz this is the same with others who thinks that there's a season wherein most of us are winning; the fact not all of us does  then that breaks the 'pattern' we are seeing.
1056  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Still not a safe practice even if it works on: August 29, 2023, 06:01:35 PM
But those players who are using VPN are simply finding a way to access a gambling platform and not by means of cheating the game. Indeed there are restrictions to some gambling sites regarding this concern but if the house itself allows it  then who are we as players to oppose it without any given cheating incidents?
Why would you use a VPN, if online gambling is allowed in your country?
If you have to use a VPN in order to access an online casino, this means that your Internet Service Provider(ISP) is restricting your access to online gambling platforms, in accordance to you country's legislation and regulations.
Using a VPN to access a gambling website means that you are breaking the laws of your country. The online casino might take your deposits and even allow you to withdraw your profits, but what if the VPN company reports your browsing history to your country's authorities?
I know that this is close to impossible to happen, but some VPN companies don't delete your browsing data.

You say that like it's a bad thing to break the law  Grin
You are too subjective in this matter. If you live in a civilized country that respects human rights, then this does not mean that everyone lives in such countries. Probably in most countries of the world people suffer from the oppression of groups that have seized power, so breaking the law is not something bad, but just a way to exercise their rights.
Law is given by people with authority and in this industry  those are gambling site owners or providers. If it is law in general then we would mostly be guilty given that gambling as an activity is prohibited to many countries so what makes us better than others? Also, those who are using Vpn are the ones at risk of being taken advantage of simply because of irregularities with network and overall accessibility to the site.
1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do the size and frequency of online casino winnings depend on the time of year? on: August 29, 2023, 05:22:35 PM
No relationship I guess. But if it is general possibility then it is possible especially if gambling provider would want to through algorithm. But I doubt it would be an obvious thing 'coz it will be prone to abuse from players who would impossibly not notice such thing. I haven't heard any 'noise' about a period wherein many players are winning in this industry. This would definitely be hard to prove if incase there is given that most of the players are secretive of their gambling money. Also, there's this tendency that perhaps on holiday season there are more players who are winning ( just an example situation) sinply because more people have the money to gamble than the usual month. But still hard to support such possibility.
1058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How late is too late to place a bet for a gambler? on: August 29, 2023, 04:49:02 PM
So many leagues and tournaments across the world have resumed preliminary matches of the season, as well as bookies and online bet platforms have rolled up their sleeves in response, to provide the best odds and bet options for its customers.

For so many reasons a bettor or gambler might make a late last minute decision that can either make them win big or lose big or prevent them from losing much bet on games they have played.

In order not to over stretch this topic, I just want us to dialogue candidly on your personal experience as to the one time you were so late in making a bet, but had to do it anyways.
Did that last minute bet make you win or you lost more and regretted the decision?

How late is too late to place a bet or make a wager in both online and offline games and matches?

Are there also good online platforms or betting sites that have good last minute betting options for matches/games?
When odds have changed already. I've experienced this with sportsbetting wherein I was hesitating to bet on a particular team so I decided to bet during the game. When I made up my mind, odds are not as big as it was so I just avoided it and just enjoyed the match. Turned out that it was a better idea 'coz it could have been a losing bet. Well ofcourse feelings would be different if the outcome was a winning bet. So much better to play it safe when you're not sure of what you are betting than to just guess things out. Winning won't come easily so the least thing we can do is to lessen the tendency of losing until we get that win than to go all out early and have nothing in the middle.
1059  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only good coins are listed on top exchange? on: August 28, 2023, 06:58:55 PM
To answer your question, it is a no. Partnership to a platform will be required in order to list a token. Therefore  it is safe to say that not all good tokens will automatically be listed on exchanges. Maybe popularity of the project, paid partnership, or is it just those/that exchanges are choosing to list a token because they saw something from it which is more likely having relation to a token or project's popularity and demand from its investors.Exchanges won't mind picking the best ones but rather only those which have a volume will be listed to most of the exchanger platform. At the least, listing to a known exchanger, would benefit the token or management behind it as well.
1060  Economy / Economics / Re: Good and Bad at the same time - Mega entities hold $ 14 billions in Bitcoin on: August 28, 2023, 06:47:10 PM
That's a lot of money under one roof of each entity mentioned above. It should make us think whether this is good or bad to Bitcoin economy? Since these much Bitcoin are under their custody they have full control of it and we have already seen what happens when such entities get hacked for their data leak. The case of FTX is the biggest lesson for us.
FTX went bankrupt because of mismanagement by Sam Bankman-Fried' and this problem led to FUD that affected the price of Bitcoin and altcoins. But the price of bitcoin recovered after a few months. My prediction will still be the same, if anything happens to any or all of these top investors, the price will drop and recover after some time.

And it does not really mean that these amounts are not in circulation because these amounts are in the liquidity pools from which traders are making there trades. I hope you do understand that the assets they have are in circulation and not in there holdings. But you can say that, the inflow and outflow almost remain equilibrium.
I don't get your explanation that the coins are not in the custody of these exchanges. Any circulation of bitcoin between or within any centralized is in the custody of these exchanges. Although you have access to assets these exchanges are the holders or custodians. Any coin that is in circulation outside a decentralized wallet cannot be said to be in circulation.

What would happen on that amount under their authority is something we won't avoid. But indeed, it would be wrong to generalize. We tend to relate FTX's issue with the likes but given that the two platforms have different management, then things would be different. Also, whether they choose to sell that huge amount of Bitcoin or not, we would be left with no other choice but to just ride the wave and hope for a fast recovery with the market price. For now, I would just be glad that huge investors are still into this technology 'coz worrying won't solve any problem. Let's just hope as well that more businesses would consider using this blockchain, for this industry's betterment in the future.
