Guys & Gals,

Can we do each other a favor and ignore Emule, as a community act?  Wink

He adds nothing of value to the discussion and distracts many of us.

If you are with me on this, hit the [Ignore] button, it's there to be used!

+1 talking with Emule leads this thread posts count to the blocks in blockchain number.

I've been an admin on a big forum (weebl forum in the glory years) for years and basically I dislike the layout and use of nxtcrypto.

It's very hard to keep good track of threads on it and it's hard to read.  Simply having striped posts installed (different tones for alternate posts) would help immensely.

The main thing however would be to actually dó the move. If we are half committed and all tech people stay in here, it just won't happen.

Running a forum is hard work. Getting a crack team of moderators that balance being fun ánd be able to use the whip while being able to withstand some criticism is also hard.

I'm all for moving, but somehow I don't feel either of the forums will work the way they are. (Italic for emphasis)

you can set your own different theme for NXTCrypto.org forums.  I use the prosilver theme which does have that striped alternate posts thing.  Prosilver also is waaaay more efficient on screen real estate

Opti,

lets create on nxtcrypto.org one topic for general chat, just like we do here, if needed each can go to subforum to talk about spicifics.

that way all is in one thread/page

And copy-paste all this thread of 1489 pages to new thread Smiley

Someone was talking about wanting bandwidht limitation for nxt-client, well here it goes. I will as usual refer to my install script for debian and ubuntu -alike operativesystems.

1. Installs or upgrades latest version of nxt-client (or you can specify version as well)
2. Installs (ask user if they want to) all packages that is needed for the client and my scripts.
3. It now supports bandwidths throttling per port (7874).
4. Everything is configured in /etc/nxt/nxt.conf
5. Everything is run via /etc/init.d/nxtclient (which also runs a boot, of course)

https://github.com/jobbet/nxt/

EDIT: for those who are interested about the bandwidht throttling, see traflimit function in nxtclient

Holy shit, this could save me 1 day and 2 bottles of wine of running node on TV stick  Grin

Maybe not, i saw something about you had problems with openjdk, which i use.. figuring about switching to oracle in this case?

Regards
j0b

yes, I had problems with openjdk, client didn't work, had to go to oracle, but it was easy. Maybe you should add choosing between java options in your install script? if somebody also tries to run client on TV stick, this script would help a lot, all could be done in automated way.

forging next is a joke if you dont havemillions..
let the millionare stackholders do the dirty job and run the java shity client...they arethe only who earn money forging
I quit to open java client because simply i didnt forge anything.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your tone here, but forging NXT is no different than bitcoin in that you need money to make money... you gotta have $10,000 USD to buy a Neptune mining rig (or whatever the f*ck they're called these days).

Buying an $89 USB ASIC TV stick does not launch a career in mining, nor in forging depending on NXT amount.

Nxt isn't magic for beginners with no money but hopes of making a career out of skimming fees.

Nxt is all about forward-thinking features and a group of people that bust their asses because we don't have crutches like memes or pseudo-celebrity coin logos.

Finally, if You like my work, there is account for donations: 4552966463117743023  Smiley It took for me 3 days and 6 bottles of wine Smiley

With 3 bottles of beer u would have it done within a day...

Every work must be done with pleasure. Now it is winter time, so I prefer wine in winter instead of beer Smiley

By the way, in my stick web.xml file I put AndroidTVstick in myplatformname, but in peerexplorer.com it is PC. How often information on peerexplorer updates?

OK, here we go. Small tutorial on running NRS in Android TV stick.

Tested on Android TV stick, running 4.2.2, RK3006 Rockchip, internal sdcard.

1. Stick has to be rooted.

2. install Complete Linux Installer from app store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.linuxonandroid

3. Go through all steps as it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b17Bfza1X3A. I used small 13.10 image, because I installed it in internal sdcard. Extracted it takes 2GB. Important: use ext2.zip files if your android is less than 4.3 and you download them manually from http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxonandroid/files/Ubuntu/13.10/

4. If you did everything as instructed, you should see Ubuntu running on your device. Install java. Important: install oracle java

5. Now copy Your next folder to your desktop folder in ubuntu

6. goto to nxt folder, open terminal window in this folder, type java -jar start.jar and here we go!!!

7. Now you can use chrome browser in android (no need is to have one in ubuntu) and check everything is working.

Didn't try on other android devices, but I think it should work on any android device.

Ask if you will stuck at some moment (i stuck 10 times in 3 days Smiley), I'll try to help. 20 years ago I was a coder, but now I'm not so tech guy, but I'll try the best.

Next stage by myself is to run NRS on my smartphone and later on refrigerator Smiley So grab your tablets, smartphones, sticks and, instead of talking about voting, global warming and where to spend 10M NXT, run NRS on them Smiley

Could somebody check my node and Android TV stick? http://217.17.88.5:7874/
Seems to me that it is working, but in any case, check from outside world Smiley

It works!

As I understand, this is now public node, right? Smiley So I'll keep it running Smiley

JRE version: 7.0_25-b30
Java VM: OpenJDK Zero VM (23.7-b01 mixed mode linux-arm)
Core dump written. Default location :/home/ubuntu/Desktop/nxt/core or core.18388

Does Oracle's version install, and if so does it still crash at that point?

Now I'm stuck at the Oracle java install. Cannot find package to install from terminal. Sad Any hint. Tryed sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-jdk, but this package is not found. Using ubuntu saucy. Any hint?

Hi NXTers

I'm still trying to runs NRS on android TV stick. I'm at 99% of work done. Ubuntu is running, Java installed. OK:

1. Started start.jar without any .nxt. Everything went smooth until block 22001, then java aborted.
2. Copied .nxt files from my other PC to the stick, started java.jar and after "Scanning blockchain..." BUMP, error is something like this:

A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime environment:

Internal error (os_linux_zero.cpp:285). pid=10388, tid=1090630768
fatal error: caught unhandled signal 11

JRE version: 7.0_25-b30
Java VM: OpenJDK Zero VM (23.7-b01 mixed mode linux-arm)
Core dump written. Default location :/home/ubuntu/Desktop/nxt/core or core.18388

Any thoughts from dev how to get rid of this problem?

Can you make a tutorial when you manage to let this work?
Maybe I can do it too then. Cool!

First of all I didn't finished completely, because of this error. I'd like to get rid of this problem and run everything smooth. So then I'll write some tutorial (never did that). It still 3 days I'm working on it, few times I wanted to resign from this thing, but I'll not surrender Smiley

Short tutorial:

1) install ubuntu on tv stick
2) install java in ubuntu
3) BUMP error. Worked for me till 22000 block Smiley

I got no idea what's going on with Nxt.  I hear people talking [...]  But, that's just what I hear,  I got no real clue of what really is happening to this coin.

So you're not even running NRS, just being a gossip girl, did I get that correctly?

No,  we just have a completely refactored version.

Ups. How to insert an image?

Your premise means that if Alice gets 1 and Bob gets 1, both win. Is that really what you want it to be?

Yes, if both get 1 then both win but one of the blocks will be orphaned.

Which one and why?
