Just a word to the old-timers. We all know who we are and none of us are the personality types that need reaffirmation. Let the newcomers join in and have fun. Ultimately they will become the old-timers themselves. A big hearty welcome to all, except for the trolls.

The trolls are hard to identify with complete certainty, but they do have common hallmarks, one of which is the disruption of online discussion. There are many other easily identifiable traits that allow you to spot them when they're around, and a few good strategies to defeat them. Identify them, don't ever go down to their level, slowly but surely patiently expose them, and then be done with them (using any of the many different strategies available to you). But whatever you do, DO NOT allow yourself to be part of their disruption (and sometimes quite intentional distractions) even if that means you might have to go without defending lies and insults beyond simply stating the facts or reminding someone that they are being offensive (once and only once). One of the better pieces I've read on the subject can be found here: http://www.peorian.com/technology/technology-news/trolls-cyberbullies/1079-how-to-identify-and-defeat-an-internet-troll

Like the author says, "Learn how to quickly recognize a troll and you've won half the battle".

Don't put up with their BS, but make sure you don't become one of them in the process.

Perhaps someone's already mentioned this.

The dump was limited to Poloniex (the other exchanges followed in arbitrage).

It amounted to just over $10,000 USD worth of DGB.

Just under the $13,000 total USD that was spent buying DBG over the 400 SAT price.

Pretty stupid on both sides but especially on the sell side (unless you're in a hurry to lose your money).

And those same speculators never stop trying to convince the rest us just how smart they are and that it wasn't them.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I would rather buy BTC from coinbase, bitstamp, circle and then with that BTC buy altcoins in different exchanges.

Thanks Radi777. I've got to get the HowTo buy using fiat updated ASAP. Going to take down Cryptsy now. Sorry for them, but we've all got a responsibility first to ourselves, and each other, to keep our personal and collective credibility and reputations up.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔$250k Investment, DigiByte Gaming, #DigiByteTip, DigiSpeed on: October 16, 2015, 10:42:43 PM
I just got the last of my stuff out of Cryptsy. Poloniex looks like a better platform anyway.

I don't know if I'm not going to have to get Cryptsy off my website. I'm really beginning to feel that I may be negligent if I don't. Perhaps I'll just take it down. Who else do we have that provides a fiat-crypto exchange besides LiteBit?

____________________

On another note, I thought I'd leave everyone with this satiric argument in favor of the idea that someday, somewhere, in a faraway galaxy, there will be a cryptocurrency that simply goes straight up and never comes back down again. :-)

My question is so simple as to be stupid, but for some odd reason I feel forced to make it.

Does everyone think that there will never be a cryptocurrency that isn't a pump and dump?

Do I need to put that in super bold?

How is it that we can't even conceive of a cryptocurrency that really lives up to what it's meant to be?

Because if we can't, and if we think the crypto world is limited to shady pump and dumpers, then I think we'd better reflect very hard on who we are and what we're doing.

As for those whose horizon goes no further than kindergarten play money equated to a virtual realty pump and dump, hell, why not say it, a rigged casino for idiots playing with funny money, I say to you to keep on doing your thing, but I'll also give you one very important piece of advice: stay with your very thinly traded (1 BTC or less daily) scams where you actually have a chance, and leave your wild BS about $400,000.00 USD market manipulations to your friends.

For those that think that there will never be a cryptocurrency that will ever be anything more than a pump and dump, I've got news for you, you're wrong.

It's not a question of if, but when.

And then it's a question of which one, of course.

Place your bets.

You know where mine are, and you'll never be able to say that I didn't tell you so.

All the way back when it was in single digits.

But if you didn't pay attention then, then why whould you now?

//Applause//

Better get on the ball folks. Get rid of all those reasons “why not”. Another great one is that there will be so many people mining that the miners will drive the price down. Okay, right, we know how that has worked out for BitCoin, haven't we. LOL That is so absurd that it'll be a stand-up comic gag material sooner than you can say diff.
1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔$250k Investment, DigiByte Gaming, #DigiByteTip, DigiSpeed on: October 16, 2015, 07:04:32 AM
This ain't going anywhere near 100 SAT sorry. I'll keep buying more.

I love how confident you became over a span of ~24 hours.

Whats your angle here besides peddling your domain name in sig? Your opinion/post have been wishy washy.

Get your mind right if you are truly part of this community or please take the negativity elsewhere.

thanks,
john

My "angle" is that I want DigiByte to thrive but think the recent growth is unnatural and part of a pump and dump scheme. I want to warn people against getting burnt.
And about the Blazin guy. He has completely switched from having Bitshares in his signature and profile picture to DGB and I don't trust him because of it.

So, how's your track record on predicting future price moves? Would you mind posting that data for our perusal?

I look at market price action from a more "objective" point of view, focusing more on the factual data than popular myths and gut feelings, and when you look at the hard data, you'll notice that the buy pressure amounted to more than $400,000.00 USD worth of DGB, while the post high selling amounted to around 10% of that figure. Secondary high buying pressure also greatly exceeded the post secondary high selling pressure in similar terms. Price bounced hard off of 100 during that relatively "light" selling (again, in comparison with the buying) which gives us reason to consider 100 SAT as a "hard floor". 150 is being traded above and below and therefore is establishing itself as a critical "over/under" level. 200 SAT is clearly the level above which price "flies" once again. That's all short term data, and the most basic at that. Longer term technical data clearly points higher, much higher, and the long term fundamental data suggests that "higher" is calculated orders of magnitude and that only the deluded might entertain the idea of being able to buy DGB in the 30's once again.

DGB could easily be trading well over 2500 SAT in very little time.

A word to the wise, court jesters are easy to spot, and they really only want your applause, and anything more you give them than that is a waste of your time.

Another interesting side point is that Cryptsy is losing ground with respect to the other exchanges, and I think we all know why that is.
1067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔$250k Investment, DigiByte Gaming, #DigiByteTip, DigiSpeed on: October 13, 2015, 07:08:49 AM
HR you need to focus on drawing the interest from the LOL community. Offer up a big sum of digibyte (maybe a donation account i'd donate!) for the top monthly earner!

The leader-board is fantastic, people love leader-boards and competing, more so if there is a chance to win a sum of money!

This neat device really needs the word of mouth power. The users in the LOL community need to realize their earnings will be higher if they spread the news more - they are probably under the impression that is they keep it secret it will benefit them, as with many money making schemes...

LETS GO DIGIBYTE

You know, I'm not a gamer and I know practically nothing about how that world works - very close to zero knowledge. What I do and did know is that it is a huge group of computer literate folks who already have the hardware and software to easily mine when they're not playing, and that is added $ for them by simply leaving their machines turned on. That's something that I (and others - I wasn't the brain behind the idea by any stretch of the imagination) actively promoted around this time last year and it ended up getting some legs with other community members and eventually with the DGB Dev Team. People much more knowledgeable about the nuts and bolts of the gaming world and how to integrate DGB got working on the implementation and it sure looks to me like they are doing everything right. The only thing I might suggest is actively marketing the idea of mining when they're not playing. Some sort of screen pop-up that alerts each player with each winning payout that the quantity of DGB they've just won could also be easily mined in xyz time. For example: "The 500 DGB you just've won could be acquired on average in 8 hours mining time when you're not playing, like when you're sleeping. ;-)" And then have a link in that same message to specific instructions on how to get the mining software up and running. To my thinking, getting the gaming community involved has always ultimately meant creating conversions to part-time miners, and I think that's where the emphasis should be going. If we were to combine that with giveaway incentives, we could do a giveaway for the wallet install and first miner connect to the official pools . . . to just throw out one quick off-the-top-of-my-head idea. In any event, this initiative is one of the most exciting I know of in the crypto world, and the more we document and focus our ideas, certainly the better - I would think anyway. Do we have good documentation on strategies, efforts, and continued implementation easily accessible somewhere?

Has this topic about promoting user loyalty and encouraging more direct participation died already?

We're never going to see commentators talking about DigiByte unless we get its use and acceptance extending and consolidating throughout the community.

Forgive me for stating the obvious at the risk of coming off as being condescending (it's difficult to say the obvious any other way), but when it's something of such clear importance and it suddenly drops off the radar, it leaves you scratching your head and with no other option but to ask.

I guess it is important to launch that Digibytegaming Market as soon as possible so that Digibytes become more useful. Can community help somehow?
keep an eye out for on the https://digibytegroup.com/,
They have some marketing projects from time to time  and its 100% from the community.
And promote digibyte  with your friends and on social websites like twitter

Yes.  We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the DigiByte Gaming press release from earlier in the summer.  And, our related advertising campaigns are still very much on track and should be implemented in the coming month or so.  We're going to be doing  social media advertising for the DigiByte Gaming (League of Legends, etc.).  Our original plan was to do marketing on CoinDesk and Facebook - together.  But, the CoinDesk ads are expensive (like minimum $800) for a short run.  We've had some great support from lots of different community members.  However, to be honest, we didn't raise enough funds from the community to run an advertisement on CoinDesk.  So, instead, we're going to focus on social media advertising.  We are especially going to focus on running some Facebook Ads - where we can get far more impressions per dollar.

Looking forward to hearing any of your suggestions.  Or, if you have any questions, please feel free to be in touch.

All the Best,

Eric

Really good initiatives EPLDCC.

I'd like to bring together all of DGB's “marketing” efforts into one short and sweet paragraph in the Asistec TI End-of-Year report, and as you know that won't be easy at all given the various things going on (the upcoming hardfork will have to be worked in there as well. . .).

So my idea is to write that paragraph as a collection of hyperlinks where I mention, and only mention, the current and recent public awareness projects (and technological developments too, of course), without explaining them, and then leaving it to the reader to click the hyperlinked phrase in order to become better informed on the particular subject mentioned.

Of course, that will require good documentation and publication sources to link to, with the information presented in layman's terms for the average user who is visiting for the first time.

What do you think about that? We've got around 3 months. Certainly doable, don't you think?

Is this a spam-Campaign? You know that a spam/virus-filter-(bot) open every mail and check all links. How many recipients answered your mail?

Not to worry. It's under control and the data is doubly verified and statistically significant.

In other words, it's all good.  Grin

I've updated my "top 5" list by turning it into a TOP 10!

Top 5 sounds small, limited, like a joke.

TOP 10 sounds IMPORTANT.  Cheesy

Perhaps a little more NoRMaL THouGH.
