1062  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Buying property with crypto on: May 06, 2023, 10:45:55 PM
Interesting topic if ever there was one, even if it is from 2020.

With anti-money laundering laws and capital gains taxes, it is essential to consult a tax lawyer. Real estate purchases in bitcoins vary not only by country, but also over time. In 2014, a property had been sold in the US for example (https://www.wsj.com/articles/lake-tahoe-property-sells-for-1-6-million-in-bitcoins-1407534997)

There are real estate agencies that specialize in selling, buying and renting crypto property, like here in Switzerland (https://bithome.ch/service-buy-sell-real-estate-cryptocurrency-bitcoin/)

Sites like these (https://cryptorealestate.cc/) are downright dreamy, those lucky enough to have bitcoins from the 2010s, can buy just about anything.

It's a safe bet that anyway, a big bitcoin holder will pay a big capital gains tax.

An interesting article  : https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/can-you-buy-a-house-with-bitcoin
I think now the problem is what is your legal income and can you confirm it. In many countries, real estate purchases are controlled by tax authorities because it is very easy. Only in some countries they ask you about income and taxes, and in other countries they don’t ask you yet. But the key word is "yet". Your most vivid emotions will be when the tax office asks for your tax returns, and you have nothing to provide.

Well, only the crypto friendly nations citizens can buy and sell property through bitcoin legally. Most of the time when you buy a property, you need to complete its whole documentation so that the government may give you the NOC to buy or sell the property. In this case, you need to show the proof that you actually paid the amount through the banking channel or through cash. So now if you paid using the bitcoins, you will mention it in the legal documents and only the country that accepts bitcoin will recognize this transaction.

*** I would like to say to those scammers- nice try, but it won't gonna be able to harm  Royse777 's reputation and also don't get me into your trap. And the main purpose of this post is to make you aware of the drama of scammers.***

You are the one who did not get scammed by this imposter but there may be many who may think that he is "ROYSE" and they may transfer the money to him  Sad
Also, since he was unable to make you fool, he will continue to try his luck with other people with the hope that some may not pay attention to the detail.
It's our own responsibility to keep ourselves safe and before taking any action, we should 100% confirm if we are talking to the right person.

1065  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: PSA: Never use perpetual futures for shorting on: May 05, 2023, 11:57:18 PM
I made the mistake of shorting BTC using perpetual futures. I will never do that anymore. I always buy put options now.

To be very frank, I do not understand the logic that bitcoin shorts will not be as profitable as bitcoin longs. The risk of liquidation is always there when you take high leverage no matter if you are in the short position or in the long position.

I usually take very low leverage like 2x or 3x in a cross mode due to which i am always far from being liquidated. Although the profit percentage may be less but still i don't feel sleepless after taking the trades  Wink
1066  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Paxful is Coming Back but... on: May 05, 2023, 11:43:29 PM

Tbf, even without these tweets, I wouldn't deposit any money to them. AFAIK, a portion of funds are still frozen and even if we say they paid all of these back, it wouldn't mean the company is in good health. I'd tread cautiously o7

Though Paxful was a good platform but i would not use it again unless and until i am confident that they are providing the same Servies with same honesty. It was not long ago when they ceased their operations. PEER-TO-PEER BITCOIN EXCHANGE PAXFUL SUSPENDS MARKETPLACE. And now they are coming back. If there were disputes between the owners it should have been sorted out without closing their services.  Since there are many other P2P platforms, better not use Paxful for the time being.
1067  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: EXCHANGING Crypto --> CASH and CASH --> Crypto $20 Monthly Flat Fee on: May 05, 2023, 10:59:20 PM
If you have any specific requests or questions feel free to reply here.

so the title of your posting says "CRYPTO FOR CHEAP!!!!" but you don't post any of your rates. plus you want people to pay $20 per month just to buy it from you?

my guess is you are not below market value. you're above. probably well above. plus you want people to pay you $20 per month on top of that.

are you new to crypto because you're new to this forum it seems like.

one other question : if you're in the usa that is. are you sure what you're doing is LEGAL?

Quote
Examples of ways you can pay to receive crypto
CASH APP,
VENMO,
PAYPAL,
REVOLUT,
probably examples of ways of not to use their accounts if they value them.  Shocked

Firstly, the term "crypto for cheap" is misleading here. Actually, he is providing a service where you can buy or sell crypto and in return you will get or pay the fiat money in /from your Cash app account or other payment providers listed in the OP.

For doing these transactions and providing this service, OP is charging 20$ monthly fee. This is additional fee which you will be paying other than the usual cryptocurrencies market prices. He never mentioned in the post if he will offer you crypto at the rates lower than the market value.

The additional risk by using this service is that you never know the source of the fiat money and it can get your cash app and other accounts banned for suspicious activity.
1068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why gambling and mixing called bad actors in bitcoin on: May 05, 2023, 10:38:58 PM
both are called bad actors because of money laundering problems, but there are many more interesting positive things about the world of bitcoin that they have not discovered and are very much different from the gambling factor, so this depends on the assessment of each of us but there are some things that are considered negative about the use bitcoin but this is not a crime that violates the law in a country, and we all know there are many transactions that continue to occur every day in conflict and have been supported by the government so bitcoin actors are not evil which will harm individuals or many people, unless they are already misusing bitcoins.

Money laundering in cryptocurrencies can be done in many ways and not just through gambling and mixers.

Generally speaking, gambling is considered bad as it makes you lose money quickly. People become addicted to gambling and have seen ruin their lives. Also, there is some religious aspect too where gambling is considered as a sin in many religions.

Mixers are directly linked with money laundering or hiding the tracing of black money. Although mixers are made with good intentions, but people usually only see the negative usage of mixers.

1069  Other / Meta / Re: Great addition for reports -- Age of a post on: May 05, 2023, 06:39:05 PM
So now this risk is mitigated. However, I believe that the 6 months is a very short life span for a post to be eligible to be reported. Maybe allowing reports from 2-3 years back would be more useful. For a long time now mods are not overwhelmed by the number of reports, therefore limiting the reports to only 6 months seems too short...

Yeah this means that if the post which is reported is six months old, the mods will not check it if it falls under the following reporting criteria.
Quote
We generally do not moderate posts this old for on-topicness, substantiveness, multi-posting, and other "cleanliness" issues.
However, it can still be acted upon if it is reported for plagiarism.
1070  Other / Meta / Re: Can one use UI to correct grammatical errors? on: May 04, 2023, 11:40:32 PM
OP… I think you have a typo in the title. It should be “AI” instead of “UI”.

Let me get this right. So after looking at a certain post, and you want to reply, you post your reply to Lemar AI chat, and then it corrects your sentence with the right grammar?

I have been using Language tools add-on (same as Grammarly) to correct my spelling and grammatical mistakes though it's not 100% perfect, I believe the idea is similar?

I haven't used this lemur artificial intelligence tool but from the OP example, i feel it is a bit different that the other tools like Grammarly available in the market.
While Grammarly corrects your grammar word by word, i think this AI tool can suggest you a whole different sentence making it a better choice than our own constructed sentence. Since AI posts are not been encouraged on this forum, I would not use this tool, rather Grammarly may be a better option to correct the grammatical mistakes in our text.
1071  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Start-Up Funding on: May 04, 2023, 11:01:34 PM

Regarding funding, I'm seeking suggestions for funding a new project in its early stages. We currently have seven prototype versions, and I'm working on the eighth. I've been working tirelessly to explain the project's concepts in plain English and back them up with detailed mathematical documentation. If you have any funding suggestions or know of someone who might be helpful, please let me know.

First of all, you need to mention why do you need to fund your project in an early stage when you have only developed its prototype and there is no final working product ready  Huh

I have no doubt on our intentions but based on previous experiences and crowdfunding of projects, there are many examples where people do not have any working project and their only intention is to collect money from the investors and then run away. Even if the project owners does not run away, they never give any proper attention to their project.

Due to these reasons, it's very hard to trust newbies who come up with an appeal of start up funds. Although not everyone is not same but without seeing the actual end product, it's a total risk and gamble to invest in the project.
1072  Economy / Speculation / Re: Month of May. Bitcoin price guess on: May 04, 2023, 10:46:37 PM
The market right now is stucked around $27k-28k, big indecision in the market and looking at where the price is , I'm short term Bearish as we fail to break above 30360 and retain that level , possibly the bears are trying to take charge and push the price low to test $25000  range , however I'm very bullish mid term and long term on Bitcoin.

We cannot say with certainty that in which month the bitcoin price will break the resistance of 30,000$ and trade about it. Right now as it is clear that bitcoin is unable to break this resistance between 30k-32K. However, one thing is sure that the bulls are back in the business and there is a lot of buying pressure as bitcoin does not fall much and it is trading in a tight range.

Sooner or later this resistance may be broken and then i think bitcoin will fly towards the 45-48K area. At that moment there will be a lot of hype in the market for bitcoin going to all time high and we may see unusual price action in bitcoin.
1073  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which app or software to track gains and losses? on: May 04, 2023, 03:14:17 AM
Hello everyone,

When I buy a crypto on the Binance spot market, the % gain/loss and the $ gain/loss amount do not appear like on the future market.

Do you know of any application or software that does this by manually entering the purchase price and the amount of crypto purchased?

Thank you for your understanding.
No matter which app you use you can never know the future market. Because what is going to happen in the future is unknown to everyone. If the future could be known through an app or software then people would not have gained so much knowledge about investment or trading.

Always be wary of those people who tell you that they have some app or software that can tell you about the future market, it's a scam. Because no one can tell which direction the market will go.
Market chart observation can be done by taking into account the experience of the candles and the current and past markets to predict which direction the market movement will take. And only experienced people can guess something like that.

I think you wrongly understand the requirement of the OP. He is not looking for an app which tell him about the future's market or predict the price of bitcoin and crypto.
He is looking for an app which he may use to track his portfolio. For example, he buy some coins and sell some coins in loss and profit. He needs an app though which the app automatically track his portfolio and at the same time tell if he is in Net profit or Net loss.

There are many app for this purpose, for example Coinmarketcap , blockfolio ,CoinTracking are some commonly used for this purpose. He can try them all and see which interface suits him the best.
1074  Other / Off-topic / Re: Beware! Deepfake AI Scams will destroy your life. on: May 03, 2023, 11:58:09 PM
to be honest, i really salute the development of technology in this era, especially the development of DeepFake technology, even though there are many negative impacts that have been caused, there are also positive impacts that have been caused by DeepFake.

Can you tell me what is the positive use of Deep fake technology? All I have seen are fake pictures and videos of celebrities or politicians on social media using deep fake technology. Though the technology may be very good and advance, i don't see humans using it for any good purpose.  Sad

Why just my life? why not yours? Deepfake cannot be done by everyone, it requires tools and skills and more often it is easier to catch that it's a deepfake.
I understand your concern however if you are out of buying shitcoins waiting for 100x, you are safe.

Of course the scammer has the tools and money and they use it to scam people. The scammer may hire people who are experts in deep fake and they develop these fake videos in order to shill their scam coins. You are right that if we are careful and do not just trust everything blindly, we can be safe from these scams. However, the concerning thing is that too many scammers are active in the crypto world as they think it's easy to scam the crypto investors.
1075  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Fake SUI Airdrop And Presale Ongoing In Facebook on: May 03, 2023, 11:14:11 PM

Their minimum buy is 0.1 ETH and Maximum 10 Eth. I think they already stole a huge amount of Ethereum from the users as their wallet balance is still 9.529496118732971875 ETH. Also they have transferred a huge amount of Eth from that address already.

This is what we call lack of knowledge and awareness by the crypto users who do not even care to check the official SUI site to verify if this pre sale is real or fake  Huh
It's very easy to create such sites to collect people money in the name of fake Airdrops or Initial coin offerings only because these scammers know that crypto investors are so careless and greedy that they will never verify the details and invest in these fake sites.

I know that there is a hype of SUI token but this does not mean that we blindly trust every site and participate thinking that they are giving very cheap SUI tokens.
1076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Trust Wallet on: May 03, 2023, 10:55:19 PM
I'm sorry for opening two threads. I saw this sub-forum after. I'm just in a lot of trouble here. I guess I can't attach photos here so I'll try to summarize what their customer service said. The site is Verirax.com. First they said I can't use the funds I earned in the mining pool (153,364 USDT) to pay the capital gains tax, which is 40% (62545 USDT). They said upon completion of paying this tax, they will give me an ETH award double the tax (125091 USDT). And I have only 3 days to complete then there will be a 1% fee. If it's after 5 days my account will be frozen and the tax will increase by another 20%.

First of all, by reading your first post and the title of the thread "Trust Wallet", i thought that you are facing any issue with the Trust wallet and was surprised to read that how can trust wallet ask for taxes etc but now i know its not related to trust wallet but its about the site Verirax.

I haven't have any information about this site but do you know that its a big scam in crypto world where the site will show you that you have a lot of balance in the site through mining or whatever but when you want to withdraw you have to deposit some money (in the form of taxes or whatever). When you deposit, the site will still never let you withdraw and may scam you.

Better stay away from these sites and do not deposit your hard earned money on these sites. You will only lose your money.
1077  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I think it's time to leave Binance, any alternatives? on: May 03, 2023, 10:38:16 PM
How about hybrid exchanges that combine the strengths of both CEXs and DEXs?
Many used to cite Eidoo, Josyo, Legolas, Nash, NEXT, Qurrex as examples. Half of them are no longer available and the rest have turned into a different type of service. Hybrid exchanges seem to be dead as a class.

I haven't heard about any of the exchanges which you have mentioned in your post. By the way, centralized and decentralized exchanges operate in a totally separate manner. In centralized exchanges, you access the site with the username and password and transfer money to the exchange while in a decentralized wallet, you connect your wallet with the exchange and never transfer money to the exchange.

I do not understand how these two features can be combined at a same time which results in an hybrid exchange  Huh
1078  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What will a mixer do under the mentioned situation? on: May 03, 2023, 03:02:55 AM
We all know about hacks, scams, password leaks and all the shit that's happening in the crypto world and we also see lots of scammers using mixers to eradicate the possibility of them being caught at all (though there are traces, but using mixer saves these scammers at the least, not intentionally).

Now, let's say that a hack happened some day at some exchange for about $300 million (or even $3 million, just e.g.), and the exchange immediately opens up about the hack. For a second, just think that the scammer keeps the coins in his wallet and doesn't move them for some time, however FBI and other major authorities are aware of this hack and they give orders to mixers that if a specific address is provided to the mixers (if they know exactly on which address the hacker has kept the coins), and they ask them to immediately report them about the same, then let me ask some questions:

1. Do mixers know where they're getting a deposit from?
2. If yes, will they co-operate here with the officials and let them know about the deposit?
3. If they do, how will they stop the scammer from moving his funds out of their mixer?

Let's suppose a hacker is reading this. What will be his course of action now. Since the Authorities have asked mixers to keep an eye on this address and do not entertain any request of mixing from this address, the hacker can easily create one or more brand new bitcoin addresses and move the funds to those newly created address. Then he can move the coins from that address to the mixers and mix the coin without any issues.

Secondly, no government have officially allowed to operate the mixers and therefore they have no legal right to dictate the mixers on what to do and what not to do.
1079  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: AI voice replicating scams on: May 02, 2023, 08:02:58 PM
This is the first time I hear about this type of voice scam. I wonder how much audio the AI would need to be able to create a fake voice recording?
Still, unless you are an older citizen, this shouldn't be something you should worry about. If someone calls you pretending to be a family member, hang up and call them to verify what's going on. If you are still in doubt, ask them questions only those close to you would know. It can be anything you two have witnessed, lived through, spoken about, etc.
A scammer won't know those answers.

The AI technology has gone too far and evil mind people are using it to scam people. I wonder if one day, these scammers may use deepfake videos to scam people  Sad

Also, when you get a threatening call, these people won't give you a chance to hang up the phone call and confirm things. They just create such a panic that you feel that if you do not react quickly and agree on their demands, you might end up losing the life of your near and dear ones. So these people will demand an instant transfer of money.

Anyways, the only way to be safe from them is to keep your nerves and also those who know about this scam will surely act in a more sensible way.
1080  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always hide your forum email address after registration. on: May 01, 2023, 11:51:44 PM
After creating forum account here, some of us do make mistake of leaving our email public, some people don’t really know about this so after creating account, they just start using it without changing email visibility to private.

Well, when we create an account on bitcointalk, the email visibility is hidden by default and therefore we do not need to experiment with its settings. Some people may make their email visible and there could be number of reasons for this. For example someone offering any service or selling any goods and may want his email to be visible to everyone so people can contact him via email too.

We hope that in the future signatures will stop requesting data publicly and some of them are encrypted in private messages.

The signature campaigns especially the bounties, does not care much about the privacy of the individuals as they often ask for Telegram, Emails when filling the bounty spreadsheet. And those sheets are publicly available for anyone to get the emails / telegrams and use them for advertising stuff.
