1061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another betting fraud in Brazil - part 2 on: May 12, 2023, 03:47:39 PM
Match fixing in soccer ? It's the first time I am hearing that because from what I knew, soccer players already get paid enough and so they don't require match fixing.
I have heard about match fixing in all other games but not in soccer. Everyone involved in these match fixing should be punished.
In my country there were few cricketers involved in match fixing and got caught and were banned from playing cricket again.
Their sports career came to an end and similar punishment should be given to those soccer players involved in match fixing.
If you're really serious then you really are like a kid in this story. It's not a strange thing, it's almost a reality in places where football doesn't have too much influence. The larger the event, the higher the price to pay for match-fixing, so it is easier for national football leagues to be settled. It's not strange to me, I've seen a whole team get banned because of this  Roll Eyes

May be because soccer/football is not so popular in my country which is why I haven't heard of match fixing in here.
I mostly watch FIFA and other leagues and I think the players are already paid enough and hence no match fixing allegations are against them.

1063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sending bank statement for verification on: May 11, 2023, 05:04:49 PM
i registered at an online casino and my deposit was not arrived(in casiono) and i contact to their support and they said you need to wait for 10 business days for your refund.

10days are completed and i still didn't received my refund, and they told that "if you don't receive your refund in 10 days then you can contact us with your bank statement"

my question is, is it safe to share bank account statement for verification purposes?  the site is reputable, but in bank statement all my information are available. is it safe to share?

I personally think there's no real harm if you send your account statement for verification purpose.
The important info it contains are not sufficient for anyone to break in to your bank account.
Besides that, many other companies ask for bank account statement for verification purposes.
So we can't be denying them all because of security reasons.
1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase on the defensive about these bitcoin ordinal centralized meme coins on: May 11, 2023, 04:28:56 PM
Very interesting how these tokens which have no utility or intrinsic value except to the one's holding it, has up ended the king of all crypto and has caused a flurry of problems for the over 14 year cryptocurrency.

It basically means that people are here just to make a quick profit and are ready to throw their money at anything to get a short profit.
They are just gambling with their money by investing in meme coins and don't care if the coin is having any utility or any intrinsic value.
1065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's your gambling experience right now? on: May 09, 2023, 04:56:44 PM

The transaction fee on Bitcoin is increasing day by day. It cost now 14$ for a low-priority transaction to 17$ for high priority transaction. I was planning to make a deposit today on my casino account until I notice the high fee on my electrum sent tab. The fee is almost 5% of my total bankroll that I was supposed to deposit. I decided to rest for now since I will be down immediately by 5% for a transaction that I don't know when will gonna be confirmed.

Is anyone still playing today with this high fee? I think those gamblers that leave funds in the casino are very happy that they didn't need to experience this fee drama.

You should just avoid depositing any coins for the time being while the fees are high.
These will get back to normal once the network congestion is decreased.
It's good to have some coins lying around on the site but I know that being a gambler we tend to gamble away the last penny in our account.
So lets just take a break for the time being and enjoy some fresh outside instead.

FUNToken is now listed on MEXC, a top-tier crypto exchange!

Trade $FUN on MEXC's secure and reliable platform, with the FUN/USDT trading pair now available.🚀

Click here to start trading at MEXC!

This is a great news, and a big one at that, MEXC is one of the top tier exchanges as long as I am concern, and this listings should have really pushed the price of FUN token up a bit if there was a prelisting announcement from you guys, but there was nothing like that, you guys should consider doing a pre-listing announcement, before the listing actually happens, this will get investors buying, in preparation for the listing, which will not just increase the price value, but also increase volume and chain activity of the token.
Congratulations once again.

This is indeed a good news and yes this should have driven the price of FUN token upwards but that doesn't seem happening.
I guess nobody really knows this except for MEXC users and once the word is out there it will be showing some difference in the price.
May be a tweet from freebitco.in channel or a notification on freebitco.in site.
1067  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Premier League #IPL on: May 08, 2023, 05:07:33 PM
Today in the 53rd Match of IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings, these two teams have come to the field to play. Punjab Kings batted first and gave a target of 179 runs in 20 overs. If Punjab Kings could have given a target of 190 runs in this match, then they could have easily won this match.  Punjab Kings. However, Kolkata Knight Riders team did not perform very well in the bowling line today. Kolkata Knight Riders team has to do well in batting to win. However, Kolkata Knight Riders batting line is very weak.

180 is not very far from 190 and is not a bad score to beat. KKR is trying well and has hit 96 runs so far.
If they increase their efforts by a little then they will be able to beat the score by PBKS.
With a decent strike rate they can manage to score 84 runs in 50 balls.
1068  Local / India / Re: WazirX again caught! on: May 07, 2023, 04:47:41 PM
That's totally ridiculous. It's insane to pay that kinda fees for a transaction. I just checked it now and it looks like the fees have dropped.
But it is still a huge amount for fees to be paid for crypto transactions.

Exchanges generally show extra fees when compared to actual transaction fees on the blockchain. May be that's why the fees are so huge.
Who's using Wazirx anyway.

1069  Local / India / Re: Bhutan has been quietly mining Bitcoin for many years now on: May 07, 2023, 04:09:39 PM

Satoshi Nakamaoto.

May be the King read the bitcoin whitepaper and was really convinced with the tech. LOL.
I guess they decided to mine bitcoin to bring up their economy.

I doubt the King read the Bitcoin whitepaper Grin. There is someone or some institution that is helping them with the tech from 2019. We are talking about a country, not a company in that country that is mining Bitcoin. As per my knowledge, Bhutan is the only country that is mining Bitcoin. The best part comes here Bhutan generates green electricity and out of the total generated 30 percent cannot be consumed by the population. That 30 percent is being used to mine Bitcoin.

Wow. If that's true then Bhutan must be generating some nice amount of profits from their bitcoin mining operation.
Things are changing for good. It's time that India should start learning from Bhutan but it's still busy counting notes through corruption.
1070  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of such ads on Instagram & Facebook! on: May 07, 2023, 04:05:23 PM
It's good that @elevates has took this initiative to make this post about this scam.
I have myself seen this add more than 4 times on Instagram and so I assume many others would have seen it as well.
All the experienced crypto users would have easily found out that it's a scam but I guess the newbies would fall prey to this.
It's good to make them aware about this scam. Only if it were that easy to find crypto wallets with money in it then everyone would be doing it by now.
The possibility of finding such a wallet though is next to nothing.
1071  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Questions of the day for gamblers on: May 07, 2023, 03:56:20 PM
If a online casino claims to be a decentralized platform does this mean that their games are fully decentralized too?

Do you guys know that some casinos regulates their own slots machines themselves, can you gamble with ease of mind on such casinos?

If slots games is all you are good at, are you really good at it or you are just lucky? Can you use the word 'good at it' with slots game?

What is the most convenient games you play on gambling platforms?

Is using leverage about luck or skills? Or even a rigged game?

There are gambling sites which have games from third party providers and so it's not necessary that if they are claiming to be a decentralized platform then their games would be decentralized too.
By the way, are there even truly decentralized casinos operating till date ? I haven't heard of any.
So most probably they all are lying when they claim they are decentralized.

I only play on reputed sites even if they are purely centralized. I only play games which have provably fair algorithm implemented.
So the chances of getting scammed by casino sites are slim.
If I'm not wrong, directbet.eu to be the last decentralised gambling platform available for sports and casino games. Later few sites claimed to be decentralised, but they aren't perfect. These days people have got adopted to the centralized gambling sites and are using the reputed ones.

Centralized gambling sites have been trying to give the best to the players, because the competence have increased and the emergence of new casinos keeps increasing. Most convenient game of all time is dice.

Quite true. Centralized gambling sites are increasing day by day and gamblers are also get more convenient to these sites.
The most reputed sites provide an ease of convenience, wide variety of games, good service etc... which becomes few reasons why users prefer them.

Dice is definitely the most convenient game because nobody has to learn it. Even a newbie can just start the game and play without any prior knowlege.
I would also like to add crash as the most convenient game as it is also a beginner friendly game.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network fee, worrying sign? on: May 07, 2023, 02:57:21 PM
The NFT hype is already over or at least have drastically decreased.

Where do you see this drastically decrease cause for sure it's not in the mempool, it's not in the numbers of brc20 tokens minted and I see no sign of it going away.

Apologies, for not being more clear but I was talking about NFTs in general and not bitcoin ordinals.
Since the NFTs have a bad name in public view I think bitcoin ordinals won't last longer too.

Quote
Many users have already declared NFTs as a scam.

So? Let's ask around the forum in the sections where only hardcore bitcoins post what ETH is!
The answers will be shitcoin, centralized scam coins, useless smart contracts, NFT garbage, and so on!
Some right here in this forum should understand that the general consensus here doesn't apply to the outside world and this community is just a tiny fragment, labeling NFT as a scam, shitty, useless, a waste of time, waste of money here might not mean a thing to the majority of crypto users.

Again, NFTs in general doesn't have a good fame these days because many people have lost money in it and declared it as a scam.
I know this doesn't necessarily mean bitcoin ordinals are scam but I personally think it won't really get much of a hype.
1073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network fee, worrying sign? on: May 06, 2023, 04:00:46 PM
I believe that the current congestion issue is a minor setback that the Bitcoin network can easily overcome, given its track record of resilience in the past. I'm not worried about the impact of Bitcoin ordinals on transaction fees in the long run. However, I do think that NFTs are just a passing fad and should not have been allowed on the Bitcoin network in the first place. Nonetheless, I'm confident that this trend will eventually die down and be replaced by more useful and sustainable use cases.

The NFT hype is already over or at least have drastically decreased. Many users have already declared NFTs as a scam.
Well it was expected since most of the NFT projects were just a rug pull. What you say is true that bitcoin shouldn't have had NFTs at first place.
Just like the ICO hype is over and nobody talks about it now, nobody will talk about NFTs in a few years.
1074  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: p2p social media platforms using bloackchain - forgot the name of it! on: May 06, 2023, 01:13:15 PM
As for steemit, people no longer consider it decentralized after hostile takeover by TRON foundation and some exchange.

After hostile takeover, community forked Steemit to hive.blog, what's your opinion on that?

Steemit was cool. I liked the idea and did followed them for a while and was using it on regular basis for a while.
I got busy with life and left it though. But the idea is great and I wish there was some mainstream site like it.
But again I think it's difficult to create and manage a truly decentralized social media site.

1076  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: May 06, 2023, 12:50:24 PM
According to the articles shared, sports betting will have the highest market gain in the next few years.
What do you think?
The pandemic has changed many people's activities, from those who usually spend outside now they will spend more time at home, so it will cause a lot of boredom if we don't have other activities, and watching sports matches is one of the fun activities and in every game there are lots of advertisements about gambling so it can attract a lot of people who may not be routine at first to become routine because the tension will increase if they are not just spectators but also bettors, and this is one of the factors why online gambling has grown so rapidly because after the pandemic is over and you can do normal activities outside of comfort Online gambling cannot be replaced so it remains an option for gambling, and it is an opportunity for business people in the gambling industry to get lots of players and profits.

Online gambling was already booming before the pandemic as it was tremendously growing. But not everyone were aware about it.
The pandemic had triggered that boom and since people didn't have anything to do they started gambling and the word spread out.
We all know the aftermath. Online gambling reached new heights and is now a really big industry.

I haven't had much luck on WOF with daily spin for a some time, but lately that has changed and here is one nice win from today and one from a few days ago. I have a feeling that I could win a golden ticket Cool

It's hard to get a prize like this last time I got 5k satoshi a few months ago, now it's down to 4200 satoshi , you're lucky to get a prize at once , I haven't played many WOFs but I hope to get a prize like yours because if you get thousands of satoshi for each spin it will be more good again. can buy Fun token again to collect.

I usually get thousands of satoshi WOF prizes to buy more FUN tokens to add to what I hold in order to get more free WOF spins every day, but again it all depends on luck because without luck it's hard to get big prizes. since the price of btc went up all btc prizes went down including hourly spins

I was lucky few months back and got 5k sats and 5k RP as well as 500 RP and so on. All of it was in a span of 2 months.
I guess those 2 months were really good for me but now all I get is base rewards which have further decreased because of bitcoin price going higher.
Still happy though as I was able to get higher rewards multiple times when the bitcoin price was lower.

1078  Other / Off-topic / Re: Recommended Google Authicator for Exchange Market account on: May 05, 2023, 05:09:18 PM
  • Its recommended authicator for securing your exchange account because when mobile phone is damaged and accidentally uninstall this application you can recovery back up trough log in with another mobile phone or re installing and login use the same mobile phone number.
  • You can got second chance with Twilio Authy Authenticator if mobile phone number still active whatever application have been uninstall or losing mobile phone

It also means that if your sim card is stolen then there is a possibility of all your accounts being hacked.
You might also become a victim sim cloning, sim swapping etc... which are potential risks.

This is a good topic though, as it shines some light on which authenticators are bad and which should be used instead.
1079  Local / India / Re: P2P Scams are on the rise! Be Careful! on: May 05, 2023, 05:00:34 PM
Did anyone check this thread on Twitter. It seems one of the cryptocurrency influencers mother's bank account got hacked. The hackers found out a small loop hole of Adhar card and use it to hack the account.

This only happens when you connect your Bank account to Adhar card and if the biometric has not been turned off. This feature was meant yo help those who want to withdraw cash using the thumb impression. Now the hackers have found a way to copy that thumb impression but the main question is, why did not the Bank verify the photo.

This hack has now got viral & mainstream media is covering it.

Too many questions on my related to this incident.

1. Why did the account holder did not get any notification for debit on the mobile number?
2. How were the hackers able to copy the finger prints?
3. Why are the biometric authentication are kept open by default?

My point of view after going through the thread is that the Bank, in this case a PSU is to be blamed for being complacent with security.

Fingerprints and other biometric data is stored digitally and the scammer had stolen this data from government websites.
He then used this data to hack user's bank accounts and proceed with the transactions.
Biometric authentication is enough to proceed with withdrawals and send money and so they were successful in making the transactions.

1. They would have got the notification but couldn't do anything since transactions were already authenticated.
Or may be the scammers turned off SMS notifications or something.

2. Already answered.

3. Its more convenient to authenticate may be that's why.

But this shows how everything has a vulnerability and can be exploited to created disasters.

Grin A kingdom that is dependent on India for everything has been silently mining Bitcoin. Amazingly they are using green energy I am eagerly wanting to know who convinced the King of Bhutan for mining Bitcoin.

Satoshi Nakamaoto.

May be the King read the bitcoin whitepaper and was really convinced with the tech. LOL.
I guess they decided to mine bitcoin to bring up their economy.

Quote
We all know how mainstream media globally has branded Bitcoin mining as a hazard for the environment. I assume the King only got convinced when he was told about mining using hydroelectricity as the kingdom has strict policy on environment.

Recently there was an articled published on the internet which mentioned that the World Economic Forum recognizes the benefits of bitcoin mining.
More info here: https://www.weforum.org/videos/this-start-up-catches-waste-methane-to-power-data-centres

Another thing is, may be Bhutan has been using renewable energy to mine bitcoin or something. We never know unless a detailed report is published.
