1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: August 19, 2016, 08:01:12 PM

Edit: Also to avoid having like 100 different sizes that we have to vote for i would just offer some fixed proposals like: 5m, 10m,50m,100m, 500m, 1B.

Why not offer just 3 options: 5m, 1B and 5B?

1B, 5B? What are you talking about?
If we can't stay with 5M then don't exceed 100m - please...

to me 100m or 500m seems like a good compromise. 1B has the issue that we get a big spread at exchanges which hinders adoption.

to offer only 3 options in the vote isnt needed imo, we can have at least 5.

5m, 21m, 100m, 500m , 1B

Do you think the spread issue would be so serious as to really exhibit that effect? I doubt it. Plus, a 1B cap would also help due to reasons you've already mentioned below.

Anyway, if 1B would be too much, I guess 500m would be my choice.

500m seems like a really good choice imo

How are we gonna be voting when there is no wallet and we don't have the coins in the first place?

If we do have wallet and coins what are we gonna vote for? A coin swap?

Please explain what the problem is with 5m coins? Just let the work prices float. There is enough granularity with 8 decimal digits available.
It's no different than having 500m with 6 decimal digits at least as far as the system is concerned. What changes is the exchange price.

Unless there is something I don't understand

there is a discussion in this thread going on since quite a while now what coin supply is the optimal solution. so its the absolutely logical way to have a coin vote about that issue. if you like 5m you are free to vote for 5m.

voting works the same way as claiming the XEL at a later moment. by now you should already be well aware off how claiming is planned and working.

I think the magic number is 100.000.000 XEL Grin
agree tottaly, this amount has been trending with all great projets like eth & lisk ..

lisk? LOL
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: August 19, 2016, 01:46:23 PM
Sorry, but what is wrong with the initial 5M supply as planned?

Would like to understand the reason that there know a voting will be held to change the supply.

Thanks for explaining Smiley

a.) if marketcap of XEL rises one XEL could become to expensive for small jobs to be done by the network

b.) psychological factors. buying a coin worth 1$ its eventually less favorable than buying a coin worth 0.05$

agree with the voting after the donation closing.

regarding the Hackathon. i have no experience with such public "contests". from my gut feeling i would say one has to offer maybe more to motivate enough folks to get going, but i am not sure. the other issue could be to spread the word about such a Hackathon. we would have to reach alot of potential "hackers" to get some good results out of it i guess.
1068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: August 18, 2016, 09:53:55 PM

no need for downvoting imo.

to offer 21m supply makes sense.
1069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: August 18, 2016, 09:26:49 PM
yes, but it would be desirable to not have to many voting options. otherwise we could end up with something like:

5M 25%
1B 15%
500M 15%
800M 10%
900M 10%

and so on.

I guess you see the issue here, most folks would favor a coin supply raise but if we have like 10 different proposals the minority that wants to keep 5M still wins.

edit: maybe there is an option to vote on several different proposals, then we wouldnt have that issue.

So you mean like a "pre-vote" and then, in a second round, take the top X votes into the final voting round?

That would be an option or let every holder vote for every proposal. Therefor one could scatter his votes and vote for lets say: 1B,900M and 800M while someone else would vote 5M, 25M and so on. So we could avoid that just a tiny difference regarding the preferable coin supply would skew the outcome.

Edit: Also to avoid having like 100 different sizes that we have to vote for i would just offer some fixed proposals like: 5m, 10m,50m,100m, 500m, 1B.

1 billion supply plz.

coin vote plz. it doesnt make any sense that someone with 1000XEL has as much voting power as someone with 10000XEL.

I also agree, we need to weigh the votes by the number of XEL in the voter's possession. Not sure if we should include that functionality in the client itself, though? What do you think? It's no big deal, but we should really think to "outsource" votes to keep the current system as simple as possible.

What do you think (yeah, I know this would be a vote for itself  Wink)? It's hard to believe that we will need the voting functionality AFTER the system has launched as I think that most of the decisions can be done with soft forks then.
I think a custom version of bitcoinocracy.com should do this, HOdlcoin just made this too.

That's a good one!  Wink I haven't known bitcoinocracy before. I will fork it on GitHub and create a version for Elastic over night. I will need Lannister or Isarmatrose contacting me about the hosting: you two are the only ones with a server here.

we will have to take a coin poll or go with some compromise between the suggested 1.000.000.000 and 5.000.000

Hi,

soeben hat mich diese email erreicht:

Quote

We regret to inform you that your withdrawal request has been rejected.

Reason:
Bitstamp has learned that two EUR intermediary bank's Commerzbank and Deutsche bank have adopted an internal policy regarding Bitcoin-related transfer. These two intermediary banks no longer allow transfers related to Bitcoin.
We have therefore cancelled your withdrawal transfer.
Please request your future bank withdrawals in a different currency or to an alternate bank account held in your name with a SEPA member bank.

Was ist da los? Laut Twitter-account der Commerzbank ist so eine Regelung nicht bekannt.

Dear Community,

can someone take care of user Greed? I give my best to focus entirely on development but this guy not only continuously spreads sc*m accusations about our project for the past months (he is unemployed and has plenty of time, this loser) but also continuously threatens and blackmails me personally. His current goal is to put everyone who worked for Elastic to jail.

If anyone knows his jurisdiction and happens to reside in it, I would be happy to see you join Elastic and sue him. I would cover all costs for that.
Also, (in case this loser has any money to buy a plane ticket) on the next stop-over in the European Union, this scumbag will hopefully be taken down ... I am currently filing a report with Europol, I hope they can resolve this issue.

But this still does not help at the moment, any idea how we can stop his constant harassment? This guy by the way is a racist who demands birth control to certain cultures and a sicko who publicly admits to downloading child p0rn.

This is one of his threads: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1426466.msg15939912#msg15939912
Lol. Russia, Moscow. Let's meet at the station.

LOL, why am i not surprised?  Grin

Until when does the ICO approximately last (not in blocks but in calendar time)?

Thank you! Smiley

Generally 8 minutes for 1 block, 8*852 blocks = 6816 mins

6816 mins/ 1440 = 4.73 days

10min per block

equals around 6 days

The purchasing of bitcoins in Venezuela is taking off like crazy, look at the chart in the link below:
http://themerkle.com/venezuela-experiences-a-surge-in-bitcoin-volume/

The whole KimDotCom filesharing service based on BTC micropayments will hopefully drive adoption and price.

I'm hopeful that the future is somewhat brighter than that chart suggests.

What do you guys think about the potential impact of those two things on the price short to mid term?

in bitcoin world a contentious 2MB (or even more) HF is brewing with eventually changing the algo also. that could bring so much PR disaster that all of your points vanish in no time. (sorry for OT)

Yeah right  Roll Eyes

And who's leading it, Roger Ver?  Cheesy

With what miners?  Wink

doesnt matter who is leading it, my cat could lead it. there is such a strong demand for a 2MB-fork that it would get instantly a sizeable marketcap, if you like that or not. and that means PR disaster.

Strong demand ?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

LOL! I remember the same mental bullshit from many ETH-folks before the HF happened and ETH Classic got what? 20% marketcap of ETH. Are you living under a rock kid? There IS strong demand for a 2MB HF, if you like it or not! But to see that you would have to let go your silly black/white view on the whole matter. I personally don't care that much about the issue and can live with Lightning etc but to ignore the rift that is inside the community is just retarded.

"Noob" calls the other clown? Came here with the big flush of newbies in late 2013 and calls others "noob". LOL!  Grin
