1101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 23, 2023, 07:42:34 PM
Hopefully the tail end of the betting year will be better than the first half let's kick it up with 4 games today:

Pelicans + 6 on the road in Toronto.
Lakers -6 home against gs.  With Wiggins and steph out I like Lakers chance here
Jazz -1 at home against okc.  Basically a pick em and like the home squad here
Magic -7 at home against Detroit.  Orlando is have a sneaky decent year.  Thinks they feast on Detroit.

Good luck everyone!

Tailing you with the Pelicans but on ML @ 2.91 on the road vs Toronto Raptors and also Lakers -4.5 vs GS Warriors. Tough pick for the Lakers because even if the Warriors got a handicap, they can still find a way how to deal with their situation as they still got numerous offensive players left but somehow, I believe in the Lakers in this game. And also, I'll add the Orlando Magic -6.5 vs Detroit Pistons.

NOP ML is quite tempting mate and to be honest, I can't just reject that kind of odds considering that they are much tougher this time against the Raptors even if they will be flying in Toronto. But for the Lakers vs GSW, I might sit on that for now or maybe I will bet on it live if I can catch it up later. We can't just really disregard the power of the Warriors even if they doesn't have Curry and Wiggins.

Plenty of reports that are saying we won’t see Durant on the floor for the Suns until at least Sunday, with a debut next Wednesday even a possibility. I want to see them in action, but with Booker just back in the lineup I can understand why they want to take it slow. I’m glad I’ll be able to see Durant play a lot more. Maybe even in person.

Yes, I also checked it out and indeed, Kevin Durant is reportedly set to make make Suns debut on March 1.. Fans are waiting patiently what would be the outcome of Durant's trade to the Valley of Suns and fortunately, we already have a date about it as he will likely make his debut on the road versus Charlotte Hornets.

Currently, the Suns is on the 5th seed of the West and just a game away from the 4th seed which is occupied by the LA Clippers. The next couple of weeks will be fun as the West is starting to get tighter because of the recent trade.
1103  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 23, 2023, 06:39:01 PM
Just found a restaurant where the individual meal costs only 0,57$! Meal composed by rice, toasted cassava flour and black bean stew with few pieces of pork meats. Feeds one person decently and the taste is good. You can eat the whole month for less than 35$, considering lunch and dinner daily! That is perfect for cutting expenses with food!

Do you know any restaurants which serve cheaper meals than that where you live? It must be a meal, not snacks.

I wonder if that same business is a family owned where they are also the ones who are managing it without hiring anybody. And if they are hiring a cook or a waiter, I'm curious how much are they earning in a day as a meal that cheap will certainly mean that the wage is not that much. But this case really depends on the area, whether if it's rural or urban and most of all, it depends on a certain country if they belong on a 3rd world or not because I'm quite sure that you can't find these places in Northern America, Middle East and most countries in Europe.
1104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Do Gamblers Do This? on: February 22, 2023, 08:51:09 PM
In this forum and other forums where gambling is one of the topics of discussion, one of the recurrent topics is people who write about how their gambling addiction has ruined their lives. We usually encounter topics like "Gambling ruined my life,"  "I lost all my life savings to gambling,"  "I gambled away my entire salary," etc. Then they go on to tell a sad tale. It makes me wonder: why do gamblers tend to wait until they have suffered a catastrophic loss or a string of losses before quitting or seeking help?

Simple, it's because most gambling addicts doesn't even know that they are already addicted to it and doesn't even know as well that they are already swimming in deep scary waters which makes them quite hard to help even if they already realized that they needed it, as by that time, it's a bit too late for them as they are too far from anyone's reach.

What they know was that they are just having fun and all until the day that they realize that they are too far away from the intended U-Turn slot and the only remaining way is to face the consequence that they got themselves. But eventually, they will recover but they learned it the hard way.
1105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 22, 2023, 07:51:56 PM
It's Fulton's time now to break that momentum and protect his thrown. We will see who's going to stand tall after the fight.

Although he is the champion, it seems that we are hoping he will be able to survive against Inoue. The fight between Inoue and Donaire was quite different because Donaire was the challenger, while here, it's Inoue who is the challenger, but people view him as the champion.

There is a huge pressure on Foltun because the majority of the fans do not believe he can beat the Monster, but let's see what happens during the fight night

True. All the pressure is on Fulton's side because a monster is approaching towards him to get hold of his two belts and people are already predicting that he won't do nothing to protect it. While it is him who is the champion but it seems that he's more like a challenger because he is the one who will visit Inoue at his own country to protect his belt.

But the champion cannot do anything as it's undeniable that a bout in Japan is more profitable for both parties, so instead of the challenger visiting the champion, it's the opposite. I can't really hide that I'm already excited to see this fight soon.

Yes, but it seems that he is going to be ready, the reports says it's going to be in Japan, so he is also willing to travel there, so he has embrace that pressure and he going to thrived on it.

But then again, he will not be called a Monster for nothing, Fulton is no boogeyman, he has to face him face to face and it will be very difficult task at hand. Although it might also be a good paycheck and so he is willing to put everything in the line here and we expect a good and hard fight for both fighters.

Yup, the bout will happen inside Japan and their paycheck is already laid perfectly waiting to be claimed as this kind of bout will certainly attract a lot of attention to people not just in Japan alone but in other parts of the world as well, especially after the fact that both boxers also have their own fan bases, large fan bases that supports them. This will be good folks, I bet it will!
1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 22, 2023, 07:28:14 PM

Funny to say, but I see lots of shared old school all-star games where we can see real competition, as players took pride and aim not
just to entertain the fans but to prove that they can play better than their opponent.
Looking to see that NBA will find new ways to offer to attract more viewers.
I witnessed the past All-Star games and I can really tell the big difference. The old format was much more entertaining compared to the new style. While we can't blame the fact that players now are good at making three-point shots, it's probably the organizers' fault for not ensuring a more competitive All-Star game. Hopefully, things will change next year now that they have heard people's complaints.

Seriously, I don't even know what pushed them to change the format of the All-Star and what keeps them from changing it again considering that the fans are not that hyped to see the game anymore because it was more of a circus rather than a serious type of game where the top tiers of each team are facing each other while proving that they are still top of one another.
I believe they are hearing a lot of complains already, not just this year's all-star game but in the previous ones as well but still, we kept on seeing the same format year by year. Huh
1107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 20, 2023, 12:39:51 PM
See what coach Michael Malone and Jaylen Brown said about the allstar game.
Michael Malone : “That is the worst basketball ever played.”
Jaylen Brown: “That’s not basketball…”

Honestly, I'm glad I didn't watch the whole game coz I was kinda busy today. So, after seeing a few minutes from the highlights, I said to myself "dang! I did the right thing" lol.

You see, even a coach and a player do not find the game entertaining. He played in the game and yet he criticized it. The NBA has to do something with the All-Star Game; they have to make it more entertaining because it's one of the most-awaited events every year for the NBA. It has become a 3-point shooting contest, which we can blame on Curry, LOL!
1108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of holding Bitcoin in time of crisis on: February 20, 2023, 09:44:43 AM

Bitcoin is the best alternative way to save money, with Bitcoin you have control over your savings because it's your wallet and your key and you are your banks!

Bitcoin is digital currency which in other words can be called electronic money and mostly treated as an asset rather than an alternative to Fiat.
No matter how much Bitcoin you have, I'm very certain that you can't spend it(Bitcoin) without having to convert it to the regular Fiat accepted in your country except in few countries where it is accepted as a legal tender.

My country is going through a very huge financial crisis and I have Bitcoin, but yet it doesn't make any difference as both those that have Bitcoin and those that don't have are all going through same Fiat scarcity because I still have to convert my Bitcoin to Fiat before having to spend it.
I just want to express that Bitcoin isn't an alternative to Fiat in my local community.
In your case, your absolute choice is to convert them into fiat money as you will never enjoy spending, other than converting them. It was sad but we can't do against the authorities, living with Bitcoin in your country have no sense in times of crisis.
Though I was happy that my country is legalizing the use of crypto. Yet, it was very unfortunate that only a few merchants or establishments are accepting this. It means that we still have no other option but to still convert them into our local currency...and the scenario is almost the same in your place.
1109  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When to sell bitcoin before the next bear market starts? on: February 20, 2023, 09:16:03 AM
Ok so this is a little down the road from here but assuming after the next halving and bitcoin goes into another bull run, when would be a good time to sell?
In all honesty, no one can pinpoint the exact date when the bear will come upon the market. However, we can predict the year expectedly anyway; nonetheless with the mindset that we are also in a highly speculative industry where anything is possible. The way I like to judge my prediction is to expect the bear season two years from every Bitcoin halving year. I've taken this into cognizance from my two post halving experiences and it seems to work pretty well. For instance, from my speculation based on what I just explained, the next bear after the  coming halving in 2024 will begin in 2026. It happened on 2018. Repeated itself in 2022 too.
I agree that no one was able to pinpoint when the exact date but fortunately, we have some ideas and market expectations because of previous bear experience. History repeats itself, maybe that seems right and I believe the market cycle which every 4 years after the bear season we have the so-called Bullrun which is also followed by a bear market eventually.
We don't need to be exact and it was impossible because of the volatile market but at least, we have market insights to anticipate which is good enough.
1110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful Many New Tokens on Coinmarketcap are on: February 19, 2023, 07:51:00 AM
The responsibility of Coinmarketcap is to list as many tokens as they want on their website, not to determine for you which tokens are genuine and which are scams. It is not necessary for their tasks. Their sole responsibility is to list a token on their website, alert their community to any token that has been flagged as a scam token by others, and spread data information about the token's market cap and rating.

They are supposed to take care of the reputation of the market as well, not just milk us and accept payment from scammers who wanted to list their coins without further verifications in regards to their legality. Because we don't need a lot of coins in the CMC, at least having 10 legit coins/projects are enough. But they let this thing happen and which make also investors driven by their doubts and less interest in crypto. Because if they only have listed good projects, it encourages more investors as well but it looks like it was to late and impossible to happen.
1111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your reasons for holding bitcoins? on: February 19, 2023, 07:25:19 AM
I heard people keep saying don't sell when the price rise a little, or when it starts dropping! I don't get, why are you holding it for long? As long as am concerns is just a matter what you want, long term or short term.
I hold because I wanted to earn more. I believe this is the purpose why people are coming here. Why people never sell their Bitcoin when it icreases a little bit, this is because they are not satisfied yet with the price. We have trusted Bitcoin and comfortably it grow more that is why we hold until such time it comes and sells them.
Quote
Bitcoin is not your Goldsmith or some banks you build at home that you can control anytime you like.

We can't control the price, that is a fact. But I have control of my Bitcoin because that is mine and I have the keys to access my wallet and I can sell or transfer them anytime I want. I don't think bank is better than this...

1113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 18, 2023, 02:21:02 PM
I think that's what he inherited from Floyd though, being flamboyant and showy and brandish and so he has a huge entourage of all his homies watching it not buying though as it is for free.

Hopefully when he is no longer relevant, the same person will stick to him. Look at what happen to Broner, during the height of his career, he has a lot of people surrounding him. But now, you can barely see anyone at him walking in his fight. Tank should learn from it and not try to be Floyd.

It's not uncommon in boxing to have friends if you're successful, just as in real life. Floyd, a promoter who owns a gym, views everything as a business venture. For him, it's all about the money, and if you're of no use to him, he won't invest his time. However, it's important to remember that we don't really know these individuals in real life, as we only see what the media presents to us. Therefore, it's best to admire their athletic abilities in the ring, rather than their true personality.

If you want to have more friends, you need to be successful. I'm pretty sure that these two fighters have a lot of friends and followers because both are undefeated and are very popular in the boxing world. Whoever wins this fight will surely enjoy more stardom, while the loser is not a complete loser since he will still enjoy a huge amount of money from this fight. In addition, if there's a rematch clause in the contract, he can avenge his loss, which means another big payout incoming as well.

That is quite expected, just like in real life. All those people will suddenly seek and follow you whenever you have something to offer to them, it's like they will take advantage of what you have while you're still at the height of your success but unfortunately, when things suddenly decline, it is also expected that those people who are seeking you will also vanish.

But as for these boxers, these things are just a perks of what they attained in the boxing world. But all of it has an end, and this time, only one of them will win at the end of the day as a draw in these situation is unlikely. And for a rematch even if it is written in the contract, it will still depend of the first outcome. A rematch won't be profitable anymore if it's already evident who is the winner.
1114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 18, 2023, 09:04:59 AM
The scary part about the Phoenix Suns is CP3 has more options for his passing skills. He himself is already a threat with that mid-range perfection skill and it can pull two defenders to open up space for either Booker, Ayton, or KD. So he can do a lob, kick it out, or just let Durant do his magic.
But I will focus on what they will do to make stops, defense must also be as strong as possible to win games.

I have to agree with that "BUT ONLY" if Chris Paul will maintain that kind of consistency in the playoffs.

Regardless of how he performed well in the season, CP3 always choked at the latter part of the playoffs out of nowhere. Blewing a series lead even way back to his Los Angeles Clippers stint up to the last playoffs with his current team, Phoenix Suns.

But who knows with Durant as the new teammate that he requested, things might change in the playoffs.

He probably knows that for sure that when it comes to consistency in intense games, he tend to lose his focus and choke at the later part of the playoffs that is why they have failed 2 straight playoffs contention. This might be his last chance to grab a ring and be one of the stars in his era to have a ring, so if he will still choke, I bet there will be some changes again the next season. Hopefully this time they won't because the new Suns roster is quite scary to think.
1115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: February 18, 2023, 07:44:02 AM
Since I watched every single game of Argentina in the last world cup I can say from what I saw and compared to the other teams, they don't have too much chance and the reason is their playing style. Argentina's national team is mostly based on Messi and you saw in the last world cup Messi was the key for them and definitely, without Messi they are going to have problems, while Messi is 35y old right now and in the next world cup he will be 38y old so he won't play like today so he will think about retirement and without him, Argentina won't play good like these days.

Argentina has always been dependent on their talisman Messi and this World Cup proved that theory. When Messi had a brief retirement, Argentina had win games so the team revolved around him and also Dimaria. But if we look at the current squad we could see young and exciting players. The likes of Lisandro Martinez, De Paul, Enzo Fernandez, Alvarez and Mac Allister will be at their prime then. Players like Garnacho and Angel Correa will also be ready to compete. The only thing Argentina needs now is to build on a style of play without Messi. If they could get this team to play as a unit then could go on a long way.

Argentina at the 2022 world cup is not a special squad, even new names have sprung up since then. like Enzo, Alvarez, Mac Alisster, who are in the spotlight compared to other players, except for their talisman, namely Messi. but yes, Messi's influence in the 2022 world cup is enormous. however, it cannot be denied, that the Argentinian squad really does play as a team. they rely on teamwork, especially when Argentina is building an attack, the transitions between players they do are so quick, and so good.

Speaking of the 2026 world cup later, I'm not sure Messi will still be involved, especially since Messi has previously announced his retirement from the national team. so, Scaloni must prepare the potential of younger players.  and as you said, Argentina has a lot of potential players, and some of the names you have mentioned. after all, the 2026 world cup is still very long, maybe there will be new names who will become the golden generation after Messi.
Messi stated that if they won the world cup of 2022, a thing they did, then he will do all what he can to play the world cup of 2026, I consider Messi a man of his word so I really think he will do what he can to preserve his level of skill and his physical capabilities as much as possible so he can fulfill his promise, now it is true that no matter how well he takes care of himself it will not be the same but he could still be a difference maker even then.

And that's what I'm holding to, he is indeed a man of his words and surely he won't do any unnecessary move that will disappoint his mother land after the statement he did. Besides, it will be much more entertaining if he will still play in WC '26 despite the age factor that he is experiencing as it's almost too impossible to tell that there won't be no changes at all in the following years from now and they are the defending champs, the team still needed him even if he won't be playing that long quality minutes anymore.
1116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 18, 2023, 07:24:12 AM
I didn't watch the NBA Rising Star Challenge live, but I will watch the highlights so that I'm not late on the news. The most anticipated part of the weekend is the real All-Star game, featuring a matchup between Team Giannis and Team LeBron.

Although Team Giannis is the favorite, I think the West has more talent than the East, so I'm leaning towards Team LeBron. However, since it's not a serious game, it's hard to make predictions, so let's just enjoy the game with some friendly bets.

NBA commissioner made a last change that the teams in the mock draft will be naming the reserves first and then the starting five. This game is quite interesting if only it will be a serious game just like what we saw while growing up but since the All-Star game now is more about circus and exhibition then that makes the game more unpredictable to bet. But I think this will belong to LeBron as the NBA has been so vocal about it already that they will focus this on LeBron's achievement and legacy.

Anyway, here are the starting five of Team Giannis and Team LeBron:

Team LeBron:
1. LeBron James
2. Luka Doncic
3. Nikola Jokic
4. Kyrie Irving
5. Lauri Markkanen

Team Giannis:
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
2. Joel Embiid
3. Jayson Tatum
4. Donovan Mitchell
5. Ja Morant
1117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: February 17, 2023, 08:24:26 PM
I am probably going to have to go with Devin Haney on this match. Not only is the dude massive but unlike Lomachenco, he is more on the offensive than the defensive side and I think that might be a better advantage.

Not sure though how you see Haney as a offensive boxer, no offense, but he plays more as a defensive fighter like Floyd. He is bigger if that is what you mean by massive, he has the length. If there will be a offensive boxer here in this rematch, it will be Loma, when his 'hi-tech' style and approach.

Yes, Haney is not your kind of a boxer who focuses most of his fights doing offensive maneuvers as we can somehow say and it's quite clear as well that Haney is almost boxing like Mayweather, all those Philly Shell and being technical at most rounds during in any given fight. That is also why he easily defeated Kambosos. Anyway, may I ask what rematch you mean? Because this this will be their first bout.

If Devin Haney beats Vasiliy Lomachenko then he could move up to 140 pounds and go straight into a non-title with Teofimo Lopez. And that is definitely a match I would love to see. So perhaps its more of a wish than a confident bet on my side. They are very well matched in skill and strength. This is one of the "not sure if I can pick a side" matches.

Teofimo Lopez will have a schedule fight with Josh Taylor the current champion. So if by chance Teo beat Josh then he will be the champion. So a Haney vs Lopez will be all for the belts in 140 lbs.

We will likely figure about that soon. Besides, I'm still inclined and believe that Haney might fight Shakur or Tank first before moving towards the next weight class but while stating these scenarios, it still depends on the upcoming outcome of the Haney-Loma fight.
1118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 17, 2023, 07:55:46 PM
Waiting to see if Inoue will make an addition to his belt or if how Fulton will defend this division and add good hypes
to his name.
Just like how Bivol can pull an upset against Canelo, many people including me now respecting Bivol Grin

But I think it's really different to compare Canelo and Inoue, when Canelo fight with GGG it's really close, while Inoue is really dominated against all champions. Despite Fulton not a popular boxer, but he have undefeated record and have fought many good boxers, so I just hope the fight would be interesting and the result would be different with majority of people predictions Grin

Yes, we wish it will be as close as we wanted to see and Fulton going on a full distance against the Monster. But we have seen our the likes of Donaire and Butler fall from Inoue's power punches. He you could say that he dominated everyone in this division he beat the majority by KO/TKO, only Donaire last 12 rounds in the final of WBSS tournament, but we can see how tough Inoue is, still goes to win despite Nonito breaking his orbital bone. And once it healed they go on a rematch and we all know how that fight turns out.

I don't mind if this fight ends quickly or goes the distance, as long as it's entertaining. In Inoue's last fight, which was the undisputed fight with Butler, it went the distance, but we didn't enjoy it because it was a boring fight until Inoue caught Butler and knocked him out

Mainly because we already expected the same outcome where Inoue will be unifying all the belts and become the undisputed champion in the bantamweight division, what we're trying to guess is if the fight will go to the distance or not, and whether Butler can weather all the rounds and come up to the judges. Although, we already know that it's quite impossible for Butler as he's just there to give his belt and try to survive.

This time, it's different because Fulton is not known to be an easy enemy and the fact that he holds this division and became a two-belt champion, that just means that he's not easy to defeat and that makes me wonder how this fight will end. Speaking of, I'm still in-favor of Naoya Inoue to win by a way of TKO/KO.

Yes, we are in the majority in favor of Inoue winning by a way of TKO/KO in the late rounds, or if Stephen Fulton wants to engage, it might be an early night for him. Fulton is not an easy fight, but nevertheless, Inoue is known to also adjust in the fight so maybe it's going to be a feel out in the early rounds and when Inoue heats up, he might go on a offensive and show his talent again in front of his home crowd. So Fulton will need to be the slick American fighter here if he wants to beat Inoue. What I mean by being slick is play like Foster, when he beat a brawler like Vargas, go on that Philly shell and see if Inoue can crack that kind of defense known to be be pulled by Black American boxers like Floyd.

Not just an ordinary slick that was pulled recently by Foster when he defeated Vargas, but Fulton needed to be putting some more extra effort to become an extra boxer than what he is now because Inoue is not your kind of regular boxer who can you bully inside the ring that easily. The monster of Japan is known to be versatile and more explosive especially when he is up against a good challenge. I mean, just look at Inoue's first fight with Donaire, it was a close bout but Inoue made an adjustment to secure the win.
1119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 17, 2023, 06:01:42 PM
How can a fight be made if he has pleased guilty? Any normal person would go to jail for hitting 4 people and fleeing the crime scene. I hate how rich famous people get away with everything. Any normal person gets jailed for many years for this. I hope Garcia knocks him out and teaches him a lesson I hope the fan base show that they are not supporters of him any more because of his hit and run. I used to like Tank but I have a entirely new view of him since I learned about this. I cannot believe he will get away with it and continue boxing.

I understand your frustrations mate but it's better for you to relax and wait for the judge's decision about that matter because even if we despite Tank Davis for what he did, his personal life is different from what he attained inside the ring as entertainment is different. Let's just not mix things up because that is already biased as you also hoped that Garcia will defeat him because of that reason, you know, we all have our different sins in life which we need to atone and that doesn't give us the right to judge.

They had a big win on LeBron's comeback, which is good for a start. Hopefully, they can build momentum from there. You're right, they really need to be more consistent now. A playoff spot is very important as it guarantees being part of the competition, whereas getting into the play-in is quite hard as they'll have to play a few games only to qualify.

LeBron was reported to have played with a foot injury. Hopefully, the rumors are not true because we need a healthy LeBron and of course, AD.

It was a good win, and now the Lakers should win as many upcoming games as possible. By the way, it should be noted that the teams from 9th to 13th place in the Western Conference standings are very close in terms of wins/losses. So the Lakers still have a chance, although it won't be an easy task for them as there will surely be an intense battle for the last place in the play-in tournament by the end of the regular season.

That will be a tough challenge for the Lakers and they surely know what they are facing up ahead on their next games before this season ends, but I think they can still manage to get a slot in the play-in tournament. What they need is to be very consistent because the remaining games are very limited only, they can still afford to lose but they should win most of the games as I think they only have 20+ games left.
