Welcome back to the NBA preseason! Time to dive back into some betting action. By the way, I'd like to get the attention of @stadus to unlock the NBA 2020-2021 betting thread so we can start sharing our picks, seeking advice from the experts, and more. Also, if it's not too much trouble, could you update the thread title? I get that you might want to show off how long it's been around (just kidding), but it would be great if we could align it with the current season. Thanks!

I was just waiting for the regular season to kick off, but since you brought it up, and if that's what the other bettors in the thread are keen on as well, then sure, I can open it up. Personally, though, I'm not too keen on betting heavily on preseason games just yet. They tend to be quite unpredictable, don't you think?

Regarding the thread title, thanks for noticing that, I'll update that as well.
643  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are memecoins tarnishing the image of crypto? on: October 09, 2023, 10:57:55 AM
If you haven't seen, it doesn't necessarily mean that investing in memecoins hasn't resulted in the creation of numerous billionaires. Consider dogecoin and Shiba inu as an example. Due to their investor's entry into it by investing hugely in them, these two memecoins made their early investors millionaires

If investing in memecoins is something one thinking about, one should at the very least start doing so early stage of memecoins before it will be well known, because that's when the price of them starts to rise(sell off by then). The following step is a price drop after it must have been initially pumped up in price.

To be on the safe side about memecoins investment, one should be able to sell at the time when there are pumps in price

It does seem similar to a game or a pyramid scheme, where the early entrants tend to reap the benefits, even though the project they're promoting might not have a promising future. Legally, it can be challenging to prove that. Speaking of Shiba, it's remarkable how its price has plummeted. It gives off the impression of being a defunct coin, despite maintaining a reasonable trading volume.

I respect your all suggestions and they are helpful, BUT it's frustrating to see them many times.

I guess it's all about getting used to the dynamics of a large forum. And you're here to help and offer suggestions because you genuinely care about the forum's well-being.

Given the sheer number of members and posts, it's a real challenge for moderators to handle everything in real-time. Some posts might slip through the cracks if they're not reported. In a community that values freedom within the rules, posts typically stick around as long as they don't violate any rules.

For threads that become repetitive or no longer provide value, moderators often step in and lock them down. In the end, it's all about maintaining a healthy and engaging environment for everyone.
645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They know the truth but they don't want to accept it, publicly on: October 09, 2023, 06:29:15 AM
You gamble for fun, right? And let's be honest, there's no real fun in gambling without using real money, so it's not exactly "free." Now, people might say they gamble for fun, but the reality is that they might stop having fun when they start losing money. That's their issue to deal with, though; every gambler comes with their own experiences and baggage, and it's ultimately up to the individual to figure out how to handle it.

The most crucial thing is to ensure that gambling doesn't lead to addiction. And if it does head in that direction, let's hope the gambler can find a way to avoid it spiraling into a life-destroying situation. I want to emphasize that it's not fair to solely blame gambling for destroying a gambler's life, as there are often multiple factors at play.
646  Other / Meta / Re: Does deleting our own posts harms our acccount ? on: October 09, 2023, 04:32:34 AM
Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?
It's completely normal. There are no reason to tag someone for that however we have some over enthusiastic forum members who will write a note something like "Be aware..." but I think most of us already learned how to ignore this group and their leader.

Totally get what you're saying. There's this forum member who's tagging users suspected of posting low-quality stuff. I've seen quite a few accounts get tagged, but it's usually just a neutral feedback. I'm not sure if there have been updates to this tagging system, but let's be real, nobody's a spammer all the time, right? Some people might try to step up their game and improve their posts. Tagging does kind of work as a warning, but personally, I'm not convinced it's all that necessary.

Now, in response to the OP's question, I can see how you value your account, but I'd say no, it won't mess with your account because it's not reported.
647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In Case of Global Conflict, Is BTC The Best Alternative? on: October 09, 2023, 04:16:39 AM

Now, in the face of a global chaos, do you think holding on to Bitcoin is a good idea to protect our assets? Will it be acting like gold which can be so valuable during war?

Absolutely! When a country declares war, it messes with their economy big time. Money's value tends to plummet because of high inflation brought on by the war. But hey, if you've got some Bitcoin stashed away in your wallet, it won't be as affected since its price isn't solely tied to one nation's situation. Unless, of course, there's a full-blown world war involving major countries; in that case, everything's probably in trouble. But at least your Bitcoin remains safe and sound, as long as you've got that key handy.

We've been through plenty of crises before, and you know what? Bitcoin's still kickin'. Actually, it's doing pretty darn well these days. Some folks even reckon we might be headed for a bullish period soon.

649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin (DOGE) Pumps 10% As Elon Musk Links Memecoin To X on: October 08, 2023, 11:21:40 AM
Here we go again, right? I'd say, don't fall for the trap, my friend. Elon knows that everyone's thinking DOGE is gonna shoot up, so I'm thinking it might not be as attractive to him to pump DOGE when there are other coins that could potentially make him even more money. We've got a bit of a bull run vibe in the air, not just for Bitcoin but also some bullish posts about altcoins. Maybe DOGE will hit $1 in this upcoming bull run, maybe not. It's up to you if you want to put your trust, and your money, in DOGE.
650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need advice on getting merits on: October 08, 2023, 10:16:04 AM
I totally get where you're coming from, buddy. I've been lurking around the gambling board myself, and it's not exactly a merit goldmine, if you know what I mean. But hey, I understand.

I can't really tell you how to score more merits because, honestly, I'm not raking them in either. What I can suggest, though, is just being true to yourself. Post in topics where you think you can be genuinely helpful, and forget about chasing those merits. I've seen a member here (I won't drop names) who hit Legendary status pretty darn quick because one of the merit sources was impressed with their posts. And I'll give it to them, their posts are valuable.

So, what I'm trying to say is, don't go hunting for merits – just be a stand-up forum member, share your knowledge, and help out where you can. That's the ticket.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 08, 2023, 04:33:09 AM
Why not, right? There's no age limit to gambling, as long as you're mature enough (at least 18 years old), you're good to go. If gambling brings you happiness and you see it as entertainment, then sure, I'd keep gambling even if I got older, as long as I'm still financially and mentally capable. These days, you can gamble from the comfort of your own home, right on your phone or computer. It's pretty convenient, and it's a way to keep things interesting as we grow older.
I think I have different opinion from yours and that's because of the factors that should be considered before gambling at old age. I don't think it's an engagement that old people are supposed to get involved in because of how nervous it is to gamble. For instance, whenever one stakes his money, he's always nervous about it on wether he's gonna win his stake or lose it and that is unhealthy for an old man because the anxiety can be too bad for his medical condition. So people should gamble as much as they want but shouldn't continue at old age for the purpose of their health.
I totally respect your take, but when it comes to feeling nervous, I say forget about it! We're basically gambling day in and day out, and that ain't gonna change even as we get older. So why feel nervous, right? I reckon the most important thing is that rush, that thrill – that's why people dive into gambling in the first place.

And don't stress about money being on the line. When we're older, we'll be more mature about it, you know? We'll stick to the 'gamble what you can afford to lose' rule, always keep that in mind.
652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Subriel Matias vs. S. Ergashev (IBF jr. welterweight title) Nov. 4: Las Vegas on: October 08, 2023, 04:13:33 AM
I understand why Matias is the favorite; being the champion, he should gain respect from sportsbooks. But can his 100% win rate continue by defeating the challenger?

Based on my comparison of their style Ergashev has the edge, for me, he is fast with good ring movement but it's still 50/50 his being a champion is not a guarantee that Matias has the edge he could be lucky, and beat Ergashev it depends on who can hit first, both fighters looks even on paper Matias is good because of his 100% knock out rate but it will always go down on who he beat.
It's a very interesting match-up whenever two fighters with good records face in the ring I just hope they will live up to our expectations.

That's your take, buddy, and you should totally stick with it. Honestly, nobody really knows who's gonna come out on top in this fight. Those bookies? They're just throwing odds out there based on what most folks are thinking. And right now, most folks seem to think Matias is the one to bet on. I mean, the guy's got a solid track record, plus he's the current champ in this division.

You're on point when you say it might all come down to who lands the first punch, especially with their knack for knocking people out. One solid hit could seriously mess up the other fighter and spell the end via knockout. So, let's just sit back and see how this showdown unfolds.
653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Subriel Matias vs. S. Ergashev (IBF jr. welterweight title) Nov. 4: Las Vegas on: October 07, 2023, 11:12:41 AM

So I guess I will have to wait first for the official odds and see who the bookmakers are going to favor here. Not that I don't trust those boxing fans here, it's that I wanted to weigh everything first before making my vote.

Maybe this would give you an idea about the betting odds.
From this website, (https://smarkets.com/event/43485573/sport/boxing/international-matchups/2023/11/04/03-00/subriel-matias-vs-shohjahon-ergashev), here's the betting odds

Subriel Matias 1.29
Shohjahon Ergashev 3.00

As you can see, Matias is the heavy favorite. So, if posters here think that Ergashev would win, at least the majority of them should consider betting on Ergashev with odds that are very tempting. I understand why Matias is the favorite; being the champion, he should gain respect from sportsbooks. But can his 100% win rate continue by defeating the challenger?

655  Economy / Services / Re: Duelbits KYC Verification (only experimented) on: October 07, 2023, 06:00:42 AM
Hi,

my duelbits account is locked for withdrawal. i pay experimented player who pass 1000% KYC verification (after result).
let me know your price (pm)

thanks

Your account is more likely to get fully blocked if you keep trying to scam the gambling site by submitting false information. This also poses quite a risk for those who might be tempted by such offers. They have no clue about the transactions going on behind the scenes, like where the funds are coming from. Who knows, it might even be linked to some illegal activities, you know?
656  Economy / Economics / Re: Women are more economical than men. on: October 07, 2023, 05:31:05 AM
We had this argument where I was the opinion that most men spend money on things that they are obligated to and cannot control it at times due to responsibilities, men are used to spending money already and because of being used to it, they can find it hard to be as economical as women can be. Do you agree with this unpopular opinion that women are more economical when it comes to money and are able to manage themselves and their homes better than men do?

Absolutely, most women are really good at managing finances and making sure all the bills are paid before any other expenses. It's a quality of a responsible woman, not necessarily a materialistic one. In my country, it's been our tradition for men to be the providers while women take care of the children and manage the home. Of course, it doesn't always work for everyone. When a woman isn't confident in handling financial matters, it's still the man's responsibility to lead the family, and his decisions are considered final.
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today in history: The first recorded Bitcoin exchange went live on: October 07, 2023, 04:30:47 AM
You know what, it's all about those lucky folks who are sharp enough to spot those life-changing opportunities. We can't turn back time, so we've got to find inspiration moving forward. I'm not sure if we'll ever accumulate a significant amount of Bitcoin in the future. I mean, there are experts out there predicting Bitcoin will hit $1 million by 2026, but is that for real? Are we gonna ride with that prediction? Investing these days isn't like it used to be in the past. It seems like those with big capital are the ones making the huge profits. With that said, maybe I'll start looking into some altcoins that could potentially take off like Bitcoin did. You never know what hype can do.
658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you manage your money on gambling sites. on: October 04, 2023, 10:13:30 PM
I've been following a few gambling channels on Twitter and Telegram, and whenever they share a screenshot of a bet slip or winning ticket, they occasionally also include the balance of their wallet. I've seen this happen several times, which made me wonder why they don't choose to withdraw their winnings instead of storing them in their gambling site wallet. Why do they leave that much in there, or is it simply for show off? A gambling expert should know better than to save their money on casino websites.
I'm sure it's not a way to show off if you are an expert gambler, but if it's for the purpose of sharing (like when you have intention to recruit on your affiliate marketing), then probably it is. Gamblers who bet a decent amount of money usually don't withdraw their funds right away after every session; they keep their money on the gambling site as that is considered their bankroll. This bankroll has a long-term purpose, and most definitely they have a target profit to set before withdrawing the funds, probably not everything.

I always withdraw all my winnings and only deposit the right amount i want to use to gamble whenever i want to play a game. I’d like to know everyone’s opinion on which way is better and which one do you practice in managing your funds on gambling sites.
That's your own style, and there's nothing wrong with that. But bear in mind that every gambler has their own style. Withdrawing your winnings might not be ideal for some gamblers as they want to increase their bankroll, which allows them to place bigger bets and potentially win more. So, just stick with what you are comfortable doing, and let them do their thing.

At the end of the day, we all just want to enjoy ourselves and make a profit. As long as that's achieved, we all win.
659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 04, 2023, 09:46:59 PM

I really do not have any idea how people are making weird things look cool or acceptable. Some things are just not acceptable across the board. Just like a white person saying the N word is not going to be accepted around the world anywhere, some fashions are just not acceptable by people in the whole world. If a man wears a dress, and says he's a woman, it is not going to be acceptable in any logic based society.

I feel like I am going off track. Anyway, this was definitely weird to see. But as you said, this might actually be something which players do to Collab with some fashion brands and also increase the popularity of both the brand and themselves. But they definitely end up doing some stupid things like this.

In the case of Jimmy Butler, I don't see any relation to a brand or anyone promoting their product through Butler. What I saw is that he just tried to catch the attention of NBA fans, and he succeeded. Aside from being one of the best players (though underrated), Jimmy has a sense of humor, trying to make the league chill out a bit before the season starts. And look, we are talking about James Harden, and the event was well noticed.

This will pass; the real battle will start soon, and I believe that the Miami Heat is well-prepared, although they missed out on getting Lillard, whom they wanted. Lillard expressed his interest as well but ended up playing with the Heat's rival.

Jimmy just trying to be Jimmy, give the man the spotlight.  Smiley
660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you manage greed to place your bet on: October 04, 2023, 03:21:19 PM
The way to manage greed is to stop it. When you are still feeling greedy, simply avoid gambling.

You see, when you are a greedy gambler, it makes your gambling activity too risky, as you are most likely to end up losing due to a lack of satisfaction.

There are two scenarios that often happen to a greedy gambler:

When the gambler is losing money, they will chase their losses, as they do not want to stop at a loss.
Most likely, this will end up with losing everything.

When the gambler is winning, they will still continue to gamble because they are not satisfied with their winnings yet.
Since luck is not forever, most likely, a gambler will end up losing everything.

Spot on. When greeds kicks in, there are very few scenarios where one will end up having a happy ending.
While we all can agree that the pursue of some money is a relatively important part of what drives people to bet, if anyone turns money the main reason of their betting activities, they will likely shift from total losses to wins.

The important difference between wins and losses is that after a big loss there can no be big win (since there is no leftover liquidity), after a big win there is always a chance for a big loss, though.

That's why you cannot be greedy if you want to be a successful gambler. Some of us dream of making a living in gambling, although most do not believe it's possible. But I tell you, it's possible because there are people who are making a living from gambling. It's so inspiring for gamblers who believe in their skills and how to utilize them to be profitable as well. Greed is usually felt by those who don't have a game plan, those who only see the positive outcome, and those who underestimate the risk of losing because they believe they can exploit gambling.

While there are times when we get lucky, we shouldn't be carried away with the flow and directly conclude that winning in gambling is too easy. This kind of thinking will easily lead us to our doom.
