To elaborate on presstab:

We have a proposal for a very nice richlist. The owner only wants BTC, though. We have five possibilities and we'd like your opinion on this.
1. We sell HYP to obtain BTC. Pros: simple. Cons: this massive sell would hurt the market.
2. We ask BTC donation from the community (0.25 BTC). Pros: it doesn't hurt HYP. Cons: We need YOU (and us) to donate BTC.
3. We decline the offer and build our own richlist. Pros: No further dilemna, custom-made richlist which suits our needs. Cons: getting a nice richlist will require time and effort.
4. We stick with present richlist. Pros: No further dilemna. Cons: below-average richlist.
5. Other propositions

So you tell us. 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 Smiley

Have you had the email yet? Asking for Monero? Sent by David Latapie, together with a Twitter link.
Sorry rikkejohn, Brilliantrocket and everyone. I just made a gaffe, I wanted to send to this PM to thefunkybits relative to this post and I managed to mix things up. Well, this happens. No spamming intended. Clumsyness happens, Hanlon's razor.

Sorry again.

edit: I removed the link to the said post, since it could be considered as an attempt at spamming, whilst I just wanted to explain my mistake.

I contacted Cryptsy privately and also started a new thread that should appear here https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions once the moderation has done its job (please post the exact link once you have it).

Also, I bought hyperstake.com some time ago but won't have time to manage it (including installing a real theme). A bounty could be paid for setting up a nice web site and maintaining it (including new content). The "creation/maintenance" and "new content" part may be two different bounties for two different person, nothing's decided yet.

It is true that Malla is not a place for conformists.
I can confirm this Smiley The best moments for me are at the evening in the cigar room.

I've just updated it and it should be ok now.
Thanks. Some much needed improvements, if possible:
- align the amounts on the decimal point so that 80000 doesn't look bigger than 400000. Easy way to do it: devote 7 characters for the integers, so 16 characters for the amount (seven, dot, eight)
- add a thousands separator (comma)

On another note, for presstab: my 1600 blocks are getting smaller and smaller, the smallest one being 354.49. After some iterations, this will become dust. An automatic dust cleaning mechanism will soon become necessary.

Here is the URL for Google Hangout. If you have a Google account, you can already announce you will attend it or share the link. A Google account WON'T be necessary to watch the video, but it will be for leaving comments on YouTube. If you also want to ask a question with the Q/A feature (as opposed to asking on #monero-dev) you will also need a Google+ account (new Google accounts automatically have Google+ activated, but older one might not).

Monero Fireside Chat #1

About Q/A: We activated the Q/A feature of Google Hangout on Air. You will have the opportunity to ask questions on Google Hangout on top of the regular #monero-dev questions. When a question asked on the Google Q/A platform will we answered, an anchor will be created on the video so that future viewers can go straight to the answer.

I can confirm v1.0.4 builds just fine on Arch. Did you try issuing: make clean && qmake-qt4 HyperStake-qt-linux.pro && make

The make clean is sometimes needed if you tried to build with qt5 first.
I reinstalled from scratch instead of a pull request and it worked fine. Thanks anyway.

There is already a working abe block explorer at http://hyp.cryptospread.com:2751 (by Bumberchute), but I've been playing with RPC Ace (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=686177.0), and I've setup a simple explorer and richlist: http://hashing.uni.me/hyperstake.php is the explorer and http://hashing.uni.me/hyperstake_richlist.txt a static richlist for HYP until block 48499.

RPC Ace is very easy to use.

I'll try to put some cron jobs to refresh the richlist ...
The current richlist is not sorted and has a lot of duplicated addresses (usually with different amounts). For a not-so-faithful snasphot richlist that actually makes sense, check my manual richlist, extracted from uni.me. I won't update it.

Also, I propose an official motto for monero, suitable for business cards, physical coins & c.:

Monero est priquiditas pro populo.

Because: Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur.

Monero offers unparalleled priquidity.  I made that up.  I'm proud of it.  (privacy * liquidity) = priquidity.  I also haven't slept in too darn long.

Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur. = whatever is written in Latin sound profound

Esperanto sounds less profound and both Latin and Esperanto are "universal" language (the first one was in the past, the second one expects to be in the future, although I would not bet on it).

Some other fat finger at Gox the other day probably wanted to sell 5 BTC at 800 and managed to sell 800 BTC at 5. That's when I stopped complaining about how much my day sucked.
Ouch! Any screenshot, source, something?
1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Coin-Swap & AllCoin on: August 04, 2014, 09:07:13 AM
I confirm that Dropbox binaries don't work on Arch neither (dynamically linked libminiupnpc.so.8 library). Other libraries may be missing too, only once this one will be solved we'll know about the others. Offering installation of the said libraries on the machine (akin to what dll-files.com proposes for Windows) would be a workaround, albeit an ugly one which would hinder community adoption.

On another note, could someone post a tutorial for cross-compiling on Windows with mingw? This would help presstab publish Linux and Mac binary more easily. Oh, and it would help kasvain too, since compiling on Raspberry takes ages (although I believe Kasvain has a Linux box, so just cross-compiling on Linux would work form him).

Use qt4
I should have stated it did not work either. I tried again today, with no luck. I'm using GCC 4.9.1.

Code:
bitcoinamountfield.cpp:(.text+0xa8b): référence indéfinie vers « QArrayData::deallocate(QArrayData*, unsigned long, unsigned long) »
collect2: erreur: ld a retourné 1 code d'état d'exécution
Makefile:316: recipe for target 'HyperStake-qt' failed
make: *** [HyperStake-qt] Error 1
Pardon my French (litterally ^^)

Regarding HyperStake Development, don't hesitate to propose improvements.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Coin-Swap & AllCoin on: August 03, 2014, 12:54:26 AM
I have been keeping a spreadsheet with the prices of all the stake coins I think are decent coins (PPC, HBN, PHS, TEK, GRW, and HYP) since the 8th of July. I have it calculating stake and then keeping track of the price everyday as well. In the 21 days so far, HYP is the only one of these coins that has kept its head above water (and actually quite a bit above water).  I will post a screen shot of my graph once it is a full month so that the monthly stakers have the chance to get their stake in.

Anyways I thought that was something worth sharing  Grin
Definitely. It reminds me of another coin keeping its head above water in times of Bitcoin fall Smiley (hint: its ticker starts with an X)

I also created a "development and advocacy" thread. We don't enjoy enough traffic yet to have it popular, but it is OK.
HyperStake Development

Presstab: I'm getting an error when compiling 1.0.4:
Code:
src/qt/transactionview.cpp: In member function ‘void TransactionView::setModel(WalletModel*)’:
src/qt/transactionview.cpp:183:46: erreur: ‘class QHeaderView’ has no member named ‘setResizeMode’
         transactionView->horizontalHeader()->setResizeMode(
                                              ^
Makefile:2110: recipe for target 'build/transactionview.o' failed
make: *** [build/transactionview.o] Error 1
My command is: git pull && qmake-qt5 HyperStake-qt-linux.pro && make

Summary?
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 02, 2014, 10:03:57 AM
We now have an official Monero community FAQ

It's made as a place to redirect all common questions to, built with the help of the community to cover every aspect.

To participate just submit a reply with a question and the relating answer - Only one Q/A per post!
If you don't know the answer, we still encourage you to ask so more experienced users can answer your questions and we can add it to the FAQ

Any questions related to the FAQ should be redirected to either the monero-extended account or to Quanttek

-updated by Quanttek
To be exact, you can ask several question in one post. We (the monero teams, be it core team or extended team) will recreate a Q/A so that we can update the post later when necessary.

The conversion is done. Now, there is one question per post. Feedbacks welcome.
1116  Other / Off-topic / Re: The happy BTC circular donation thread on: August 01, 2014, 10:30:20 PM
This is a welcome initiative to inject some kindness in this world (and I don't say this only because I am one of the prime recipient). So thank you Risto for starting this chain.

(updated after Risto's reply)

What I will do with this money:
  • 600 mBTC: for me, converted in XMR. This may looks like I am a greedy bastard, but this will be used that way:
    • 100 mBTC for myself - I'm considering buying half Monero and half NXT with them, or maybe 1/3 XMR, 1/3 NXT, 1/3 BTC - or maybe full XMR Smiley
    • 300 mBTC for taking care of family (1/3 to my mother, 1/3 to my sister, 1/3 to my brother). I will keep this part in my wallet until the official GUI wallet is released. Then I will give them their Moneroj, that will be their first steps into cryptocurrencies and hopefully in some years the beginning a better life
    • 200 mBTC to spread the word, i.e. someone I know IRL who doesn't know cryptocurrencies already, that I appreciate and whose quality of life would benefit from it. That will be my concierge, so that he learns about BTC and XMR and, hopefully one day, he won't have to be concierge for a living anymore. Here also, I will keep the money until the official GUI wallet is released.
  • 400 mBTC to thre Cryptolanders that I trust to continue the chain and at the same time would benefit from my help (could not find any)

And Thundertoe sits back and keeps his mouth shut through it all. I get that the dev's arent responsible for coin performance. I just want answers when there are potential coding problems (staking issues).

I agree the coin will rebound eventually...
That's pretty simple:  we need someone to handle the code. Thundertoe readily admits he is not a coder and presstab made it clear he won't fix TEK. So it belongs to us, the community (Thundertoe included) to look for another dev.

Will it be on the same level like HBN 4-5k sat or lower? Some BiG players are exiting TEK...
It leaves room for others. The cycle continues, expect correction upside.

I contacted Unick (richlist's holder) to find a more permanent solution.
1120  Economy / Reputation / David Latapie's reputation thread on: August 01, 2014, 07:18:17 PM
Here it is. Rep thread, nuff said.

Monero core team member

I believe a rep thread is also a place to write down a crypto résumé, so voilà.
I arrived in Cryptoland in January 2014. Some have a hard time believing it - and me also, sometimes.

I'm helping Noble. I am co-dev on Mintcoin (since relaunch), HyperStake and most importantly Monero.
I write several in-depth articles about cryptos on my blog. My name appears on several famous places, like Coins Source (article) and Poloniex (press release)

I am a man of my word, even when it costs me. My post count may not look that big because I usually merge my successive posts into one so don't consider the post count too much. I don't pump and dump, I try to help and warn people (especially newcomers). I'm in crypto for two reasons: getting rich and changing the world for the better (in no particular order).

When in doubt, assume good faith - this is what I'll do with you. If you appreciated dealing with me, use the Trust button on the border.

OTC trading: if you want to sell a large stash of XMR without disturbing the price (and losing money in the process), contact me - you'll get an answer and probably a deal.

Should you see other things that are worth mentionning, please tell me. I might create a compilation of the posts I am the most proud about, at leas as a memento for me but it might be of use for you too.
