501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: December 12, 2014, 09:03:58 AM
My vote with 13,104 gold, goes to Paulson, esq. He proved many times his commitment and active participation. If this matters, I am also a Councillor and after discussing with the highest member of the Church, the latter with 2600 gold expressed interest in Paulson to become a councilor.

Dame Roopatra is a person we increasingly appreciate, and if a second seat is available, we would support her candicady too, although we believe that "power shall not be given to the one who ask for it".

Correction:

I'd like to vote for my reelection and if an extra seat is available, would like it to go to Paulson. As for my programme for the town
- the Church is an important part of the life of the Kingdom and as such shall be represented, even if there was no other reason
- the Church is actively welcoming the younger generations by building a Youth Center. Design is done, building is underway
- the Church is also working on building social housings for poor but worthy citizen. Here too, design is done, only the actual location is being considered now. The Church plans to have such social housings in any borough and to reward the most active players who don't have much revenu with a relocation in a higher place as the activity increases (thus the need for social housings in several boroughs).

Clearly,  the Church wishes to encourage involvement from players and such a participation in the life of the city is easier to be done by being a councillor.

As a geneticist, I can tell you this would be difficult to pull off - "interpret your genome" is the crux of the problem here.
Yeah, this is it. 23 and me (and others) give unreliable data, because in order to give accurate data, one needs to sequence a person's whole genome and we are very far from it. And that's the difference between genetics and genomics (I'm quoting Laurent Alexandre here, who you must at least have heard of).

I can just imagine some cigar smoking wine twirling upper eschelon type smugly thinking to himself "I'm enjoying this MP3 of which there are only 15 copies in the world." Of course, this would depend on the artist community adhering to a limited edition pressing of their works... and I imagine the artists would be the ones invested in whatever the "mining" component of this network would be.
Heard of webscrapping, or memory leaking? If you can output it, you can copy it - that's why pictures have a visible watermark. Since this is digital, there won't be any loss of information, contrary to analog.

And that's why preventing decentralised double-spend is so huge - it goes against the very basic of digital technology, which is that that copy is identical to the original. Breaking such a fundamental rule of information theory is awesome.

Lets set up a company in Estonia.
e-residency may be quite a useful feature.

what about a younger person who wants to pay for access to a dating site without his parents knowing his sexual orientation from the credit card bill?)
A dating site is just one of huge number of projects that can be done for Monero usage.

- VPN
- web hosting
- domain names
- porn? (why not - everyone likes a bit of it and everyone likes privacy)

and so on ... only those I mentioned are a large spectrum of wide web of the world.

HyperLoan round 5
When are these updated?

HyperLoan round 7
Because I was busy AND pretty disappointed that some people did not send loans back and, more importantly, because people basically seemed no to care, the result of this contest is postponed to next Monday.

May need to tweak the strategy re block size etc.
Could not have a better timing Smiley
I just updated https://bit.ly/hypsize (diff)

Still no update to the title of this thread with the date and version of (mandatory upgrade)
Updated. I also added the summary of the latest missive.

Would the conditional stopstaking bring the holder of a large wallet, any disadvantage (ie earn less HYP from not staking)?
Yes. That's why it would be mentioned and could be deactivated.
If so, then surely you'd just see individuals start to split their holdings into a number of wallets, rather than just one?
They would just deactive it.
If too much people deactivate it, we would have to lower the percentage and more people would be subjected to this. There is an important freerider issue here - and freeriding is an unsolved issue in free market.
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Most Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 6 Themes on: December 09, 2014, 08:22:49 AM
Interesting. What is considered "large holdings"? Anyone above 100K HYP?
The barrier is not a hard one, so this is all about transitionning. That being said, the code will require some hard numbers; and such a number will eventually be arbirtary.

If we use the Pareto principle (which what is usually done in such a case), then 80% of coins is reached at 27K per address presently (people not in the richlist represent less than 4%). Now, we don't want 'most people" to abide by this "stop staking" mechanism so we'd have to tighten the set.

100K per address is still 60% of the richlist, so still too much - I consider that 25% of the money supply is still a lot and, to make things round, I would use the "opposite of Paretto", 20%. To have 20% of stake stopping, we shall aim people who have more than... 900K. This is 8 persons! So, at present, stop staking would apply mostly only to hypillionaires (we have 7 hyppilionnaires).

This is a pretty restricted set, but this also mean this will hopefully be easier to enforce. Now, the boring thing is that we don't know them since the address claiming has not been fixed.

Bottom line: I suggest this:
If the address as less 900K or more HYP, activate conditional stopstaking
900K shall be a variable, though, and I do not know how to calculate it

Presently, the lowest address eligible (that is, the address the closest to 900K) has 1.5% of the coin. This could be our magic number: If the address contains at least 1.5% of the total coin supply, then activate conditional stopstaking.

Opinion?
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / openalias support in HYP on: December 09, 2014, 04:31:46 AM
OK guys, what we are working on for Monero (among other things)

Instead of sending to pAvP3gYfuyDVbUt98ToMbwU9rwEdBV1dHW
You could send to hyperstake.com

How this magic? Openalias (entry on the Monero FAQ)

Now, the nice thing is that it works with any crypto, as long as the wallet allows it.

And there is one more good thing about it, but I'll keep it secret for some time. Just trust me on this one Smiley

Regarding code, I'll talk with presstab.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Most Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 6 Themes on: December 09, 2014, 03:52:46 AM
@presstab

Is it necessary to do a hard fork for the reason of few minor issues? It can create a lot of difficulties for users (all previous versions of the wallet will become obsolete), probably more than these issues themselves Smiley Wouldn't it be better to include these fixes in some critical update?
I think what presstab meant is "in the context of the hardfork we will have in several months, here one more thing to consider while we're at it". But the wording looked like "we will hard fork mostly for this", which is not the case.

Regarding algo
- presstab: I asked Wolf his opinion. I believe neoscrypt is the lightest to date. jwinterm on IRC proposed... SHA256 and smooth siphash, and mod (never heard of them)
- others: we won't go to PoW/PoS. But HYP is not a pure PoS (it is a PoW/PoS with a PoW phase that has ended), so it still has a dead weight, the now-useless PoW algo. presstab is trying to minimise the impact of the dead weight by using as light a PoW algo as possible (ideally, we would remove the PoW entirely, but code-wise, it would be a major work for not much advantages).

Update: Print_ proposed m7m and yescrypt.
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: December 09, 2014, 01:59:52 AM
That is cool! How did you get your the saddam.moneroaddress.org alias you reference in your sig? Did you have to register the domain name moneroaddress.org yourself? Does this mean that to get our own openalias to use with Monero, we have to find domain name registrars that allow anonymous registration?
Instructions on the FAQ: What is openalias? How does it work?
511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: December 09, 2014, 01:13:49 AM
Or simply use Namecoin (NMC), http://namecoin.info/, to register a .bit domain. There is no need to use the ICANN/US Gov. root. Of course all of this creates a business opportunity for selling .bit, Namecoin, registrations for XMR.
I'm considering getting donate.david.latapie.bit (my internet presence is on david.latapie.name and .name is handled by VeriSign, which is a bad news). Speaking of that, would donate.david.latapie.onion make sense? Does "choosing between .bit and .onion" make sense?

Same here, there were some nice comments in it. I like this particular one from Gregory Maxwell about privacy:
I updated the FAQ entry "Q: Why is an anonymous currency important?"Thanks!

By the way: PR-wise, it is better to speak of privacy than of anonymity

Anonymity = drug
Privacy = family

This was my first mined crypto too Smiley It's a fulfilling feeling
Me in April 2014 with Monero. I still remember this surreal atmosphere - I felt like if I had been mining Bitcoin in 2010...

This is interesting.. has there been any talk of implementing transparency layers, and their potential function?
Yes there has been. Some of it is right in the original whitepaper, in terms of view keys and auditable addresses. We have also considered other methods of allowing for transparency on specific transactions. People want to be able to selectively prove payments on demand and generally open up to transparency in a controlled manner, without everything being linkable and traceable to the rest of their transactions.
Added to the FAQ.

dump doesnt matter now because xmr is becoming like bitcoin, a long period of low price is good for legitimacy of the coin if it ever reaches a lot higher in the future no one will be able to say that didn't bought xmr because it was too expensive, they can only say they didnt heard about monero or didnt believe on it.
I'm adding it to my list of quotes.

hey guys check this out. wow. no more having to copy and paste huge addresses! cool new feature in the 0.8.8.5, great work devs  Cheesy

go to https://openalias.org/ to learn how to make your own alias!
I updated the OP.

God damn FRENCH FUND was meant to take one month in AUGUST. It is NOVEMBER FOR GOD SAKE. No news since.
It was supposed to be 6 months max and it was written as such. Do you have any idea how tough it is to open a bank account for a cryptocurrency? Probably not. I do.

2-3k is the sweet spot right now though.
Closer to 2K than 3K. My 2400 HYP block hit the wall consistently today.

Nothing further, this school will the perfect place for every young lady eager to get educated in all the science a lady shall learn.

Do not forget to add your monogram on the school as in any further building, be they for the Church or not.

This is my pleasure to announce that, considering the large amount of construction needed for the Church both now and later, the Church appointed a dedicated Architect.
Effective immediately, Quicken is the Architect of the Church. He is allowed to accept work from other customer too, as long as it doesn't delay his work for the Church, which will always have priority. When working for someone else than the Church, Quicken is free to set the price he desire.
Having your building designed by the official architect of the Church will also add to the valuation of your building. Keep that in mind when looking for an architect - a small premium can go a long way.

Some out of game information:

Visiting family
I will visit my family that I did not see for half an year. They told me they have internet issues, which should affect negatively my ability to process deposits. Until the 17th of December, please PM both me and saddam. We will PM each other for taking care of synchronisation and avoiding double-spending or the opposite, zero-spending.

ck4kids
I've been informed some youngsters (10 years old) are interested in playing CK. I believe widening the audience in unexpected directions is a very good thing and shall be accompanied. To that effect, I will make some in-game contributions, on the Church's money (so ultimately my - David - money, but roleplay-wise, this is the Church).

- T7 (AI6-AJ7) will not be a museum as I originally envisionned. It will be made a "Youth building", for all youngsters to gather with people their age. Actual parents (not ingame parents, but IRL parents) will be welcome to join too. I plan it to be a "sandbox-inside-the-sandbox", so I'll let youngsters decide what to do here. If there is something to be paid in this house, it will be free for the IRL parents, to encourage them to accompany them their kids. This also works for parents dragged to ck because of their kids (i.e. IRL parents not playing ck already). This building will probably be unprofitable at first, so any registration to the Pious Order would help - once I have written down the working of the Pious Order.

- I will create an Ecclesiastical Order reserved for youngsters - I propose to call it the "Sunrise Club", Sunrise because it is reminiscent of youngsters being at the start of their journey in life, much like sunrise is the start of the journey of the Sun in the sky, and Club because the word fits well with the cheerful, youth-oriented aspect. It is an Ecclesiastical Order only because it is the Church, there will be no religious mention here - children are more prone than adults to miss the difference between reality and fiction and I do not want to plant any religious thought in them (irrespective of my actual religious belief - this is just something that I don't want to mess with). So, the "religious-in-name-only" Sunrise Club will serve the same purpose as the Youth Building: a place for youngsters to meet and organise things, so it will be a sandbox with no predefined purpose. Contrary to the Pious Order, registration will be free. It will also be limited to chidren and their parents, those having less powers than children.

Children != Stupid. I believe and I have personal experience that information only has to be adapted, not dumbed-down. So everything I'll do for children will first be created with grown-up standards, then adapted (and only if needed and if parents consider it necessary), no the other way around. I would welcome help from actual parents and I think there will be at least one willing to help Smiley

OPENING NOTICE OF CASINO CRYPTONIGHT
It is my pleasure and kronicblazer's to announce that the Knights of the Temple, more commonly known as "the Templars", will take care of security in and around the casino. Templars will have an obvious but discreet presence so that no luck winner will ever have to feel in danger. The security service will extend to conciergerie and escorting/bodyguarding services.

1. As a middle-class NPC visiting town for a few weeks' stay related to a building project, make the following areas in the preference order of stay (in a **-*** star accommodation, meaning that if other parameters are equal, you'd choose them in this order):
1. Center
2. King's Park
3. New East - Culture Square
4. Jousting Ground
5. The Village

2. As yourself, which is now your favorite place to eat (select 1 or more, your votepower will be divided accordingly):
- The Priory House Restaurant $$$ / Smiley / 60% / South

3. How would you like to conduct your shopping?
I am a man of little needs, as terrestrial belonging departs me from the True Meaning of life. When needed, I prefer to go to the further regions - not for any price considerations, but because this is the best way for me to meet the bulk of ordinary citizens in their everyday life.
