1141  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-13]Aren’t You Glad You Kept Your Bitcoin? Don’t Sell It. on: December 16, 2020, 06:52:18 PM
Most of us have a small Laszlo story to tell.
If I have ever had to use some coins I've always tried to make a quick re-buy.
I am trying to investigate whether borrowing some money against a bitcoin collateral can be a good idea or not: the nightmare about a drop that demolishes my collateral is what prevents me to do that.
1142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin finally reached $20k on: December 16, 2020, 06:44:32 PM
History in the making, we are very fortunate to witness the revolution unfolding right before our eyes. Stack sats guys, the march has just started. Don't sell unless you have some rescue money on the line.
Happy 20k

1144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is my Bank on: December 15, 2020, 03:14:56 PM
Being my own bank without the hassle to have to open my branch, offering coffee and tea to my customers, having to vacuum the floor and bringing the rubbish out has its own advantages.
 Grin
I don't know if I can consider bitcoin=bank still the ability to control my own wealth kind of gives the idea of what a powerful thing the bitcoin protocol is.

Due to the covid 19 pandemic, I lost my job and my bank account was closed because I withdrew all my remaining balance to buy our necessities, at that time I was looking for another alternative to lost job in order to support my family's needs . Until I start trading bitcoin with small capital and thanks God because with the help of cryptocurrency we can continue to survive from the difficult time of pandemic.

Now I have accumulated a small amount to be able to reopen a bank account but I think that instead of opening a new bank account, it is be better to just buy and invest in bitcoin so that I can expect more profit than the traditional bank.

I know that investing in bitcoin is risky but I also believe that bitcoin has a good future.

I just hope I made the right decision.
If I could give you my small piece of advice, don't go full bananas. Invest what you will not be used for sustaining yourself and your family. Don't go all-in. Rome wasn't built in a day, humbly stack your sats and be content with it.
I wish you all the best.

There must be a kind of spell over 20k. Maybe if over 9k was Vegeta then over 20k will be like Goku vs Freeza when the saiyan got his nice blonde haircut.
And then every level afterward will be easier and easier to reach.
Sorry if I'm being a kid. Grin

1146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: December 15, 2020, 02:54:29 PM
Juventus Atalanta and Inter Napoli are must-watch games for this Serie A round! No easy task betting on these two games but I believe Juventus will be able to get the whole cake with Atalanta (a safety bet would be under 3,5) while I would risk to bet on Napoli winning against Inter!
1147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Protect Yourself from Hyperinflation with DAI on: December 15, 2020, 02:48:46 PM
How can you find any kind of protection from hyperinflation when using an asset which reproduces a very much inflated world currency which its worst performance during the last 9 months?
If you really have to protect yourself from hyperinflation then you have only one option: bitcoin!

1148  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why not use Chainanalysis to see your privacy score on: December 15, 2020, 02:41:28 PM
I have been using kycp (it's from Samourai Wallet's devs) for quite a while now. I have to confess I find it very handy to understand my blockchain fingerprints. I have been basically trying to obfuscate as many UTXOs as I possibly could. It's no easy task, but I would do that and more to protect my bitcoin privacy.
Here's a demo for your reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faWjUuI5XOQ

Doing it too much/specific could make you stand out and reducing your own privacy instead.

Trying my best as per my knowledge. I'm hoping to keep a balance between an overly paranoid approach and one focused on keeping as many layers of separation as possible. I'm no security expert and I'm probably making many mistakes but so far so good.
Surely, cashing out (fiat) will be hard one day and therefore I hope I will be able to choose the best jurisdiction when I will have to.
1149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: December 14, 2020, 04:06:53 PM
Just hold your horses guys till we have until February to bet on these games, then you can bet!  Grin You don't know how many things could possibly change from today until then. It's way too early to cast any prediction.

Man, anything below $20k is so boring...

That's why you don't see me around that often. Another reason is the life out of btt which is calling hard.

1152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Investors Get BTC So Wrong, and What it Says About its strenghts on: December 14, 2020, 03:46:58 PM
That's it for you and you correctly point out that the number of fools who believe in those silly shitcoin forks is damn too high. I don't care about that much from the moment I know very well the real Bitcoin mechanics. Let the fools believe what they want, if they don't get that there's only one BTC, that's their problem, not ours.

Agreed.  When Lite Coin forked the source code with the faster blocks tweak, there were a lot of the same comments about it.  It was an interesting experiment (and still is), but it didn't really impact bitcoin.  Today's forks are even worse since they really add little or nothing of value.
Remember that pity attempt of Bitmain when after the bcash fork was asking its clients to pay for antminers in bch? What a stupid move it was.

There will be flippenings, hard forks, faketoshis etc. but the real deal is out there en plein air. It's called bitcoin and it's gonna be better and better with age. Like scotch.
1153  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic will bring more economic progress in long-term... on: December 14, 2020, 03:42:31 PM
There is no doubt that the Economy is growing, despite the pandemic. If you look at the stock market indices, then it is clear. But this growth is not uniform across the sectors. For example, tourism and airline sectors are in very bad shape. On the other hand, online retailers such as Amazon have managed to achieve ATH levels, partly due to increased demand that resulted from the pandemic.
It's not the economy that is growing, it's wall street fake valuations that are getting unbelievably high. I see a complete fracture between the real economy and financial one, which keeps using its gimmicks and magic tricks to kick the can as long as possible.
The real crisis is still awaiting us.

I don't think that the stocks are overpriced now. If you look at the P/E ratios for various stocks, it can be seen that they are still at normal levels. Stocks such as Amazon and Apple went up, because their revenue increased as a result of the pandemic. Especially for Amazon, there has been a huge growth in turnover ever since the pandemic started to spread globally.
I'm not talking about single stocks evaluations but if you look at the overall index is too damn high taking into account what has been happening. It just can't be that Amazon and Apple are representative of the whole stock market.
1154  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-11] Why 2021 Is Set To Be Even Bigger For Bitcoin on: December 13, 2020, 09:06:47 AM
Bitcoin's no fad.
Tapeworm diets, Paris' public morgue viewing, piked shoes, ornamental hermits, etc. were fads. Bitcoin's changing the history of money and I am convinced 2021 will be the year of bitcoin's full recognition.
For those of us who don't look only at the financials but who believe in bitcoin properties, its dominance was just around the corner. Fasten your seat belt.

1155  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum-4.0.7 on: December 13, 2020, 08:50:25 AM
It does take a bit of trust to be among the first to install a new release, but you can also verify for yourself that the download is safe.

First and foremost, you should learn how to verify the download using ThomasV's PGP signature.  This will ensure that you've downloaded the official version signed by the developer.  Even if Electrum's website gets hacked, and the download link is directed to a malicious version, this will mitigate your risks.  Here's a tutorial I wrote: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide].

If you still don't trust the binary releases, you can always take some time to verify the code hasn't been manipulated with nefarious intent.  If you go the Electrum repository, you can browse through the changes made in real time.  You can confirm for yourself that only the changes published in the release notes are implemented into the code.

And if you're still doubtful about the binary releases, you can even run electrum right from the source code.  It's fairly easy if you're running Linux and have all the python dependencies installed (which you probably do if it's a recently released OS.)

Electrum's github.com repository: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum
Electrum's Release Notes (change-logs): https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/RELEASE-NOTES
Electrum's previous releases: https://download.electrum.org/

Great one.
As a bit of a reminder for myself and OP, I usually always wait before updating simply because if we are not talking about a security update (fixing critical bugs or vulnerabilities) I wait at least one week before any update. If you follow DireWolfM14 guide you will always make sure to have downloaded the legit version but if you like to have some peace of mind, just wait a bit. The previous version works perfectly fine.
In fact, I am not gonna update anytime soon  Grin
1156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: December 13, 2020, 08:43:57 AM
Sassuolo could be this Serie A outsider: where does this team want to go? Berardi was considered almost over less than two years ago and now he had a great comeback. I can consider betting more often on Sassuolo (particularly when playing home). Tonight, if I can, I would like to bet and watch Milan Parma (odds are in Milan's favour but I see PArma can give them some hard times).
Ibrahimovic is recovering well and Pioli said he could be available by Wednesday.
1157  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic will bring more economic progress in long-term... on: December 13, 2020, 08:31:59 AM
Despite the long-term effects of the epidemic on the economy the world economy is improving. People in all countries of the world have learned to prevent this epidemic. Everyone is adapting to the epidemic and the standard of living is improving a lot. The economic situation seems to be related to the extent of the epidemic. Again a lot depends on human activities. Even though many people lost their jobs during the epidemic the companies are changing their situation again. The epidemic is changing the course of the world with long-term economic progress and technological advancement.

There is no doubt that the Economy is growing, despite the pandemic. If you look at the stock market indices, then it is clear. But this growth is not uniform across the sectors. For example, tourism and airline sectors are in very bad shape. 1158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] 2020, your last chance of owning 1 BTC on: December 13, 2020, 08:28:27 AM
Currently I don't own any bitcoin in my savings account, I got so caught up with the defi hype that I traded my portfolio to gain some more profits and now I'm trapped. Me selling now will means I'll have to be comfortable losing close to 80% of my invested capital which is something I won't be comfortable doing therefore I'm left with no option than to hold in anticipating that a miracle would happen in the future and even though it'll just give me the opportunity to get back my investment capital, I'll take that chance.

I know I didn't invest smartly as I was only meant to investment funds that I'll be ok losing but I got this one all wrong and now I'm suffering the outcome. I'm just hoping of altcoins recovering which is why most of my replies are in support of them and hopefully with time they'll recover and get me those target of mine which involves owning one bitcoin.

Actually it was me working towards that, that got me in this mess, me investing in altcoins in the first place to try to boost my chances into owning one bitcoin to join the very few elite that do.
Ask everyone around and if they are truly honest they will recognize their mistakes. We all did them  Smiley
The point is to recognize those mistakes and avoid repeating them in the future. I'm a longtimer on btt and if you have read my interview you would know what my mistakes were. I hope I'm done with them.

I must confess I was not expecting these results. Being a bitcoin forum I would have said at least half % of respondents have one full coin but that's not the case. Below the updated results

BTC Yes - 13 (28.3%)
BTC No - 33 (71.7%) Total Voters: 46
