Mine are television sitcoms and unrealistic airbrushed magazine body builders that are 30 years younger than me.
1162  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: June 23, 2017, 05:06:07 PM
People accepting things doesn't make fact.
Scientists only accept hypothesis when they are fully tested and become scientific theories. Their acceptance includes rigorous testing of the hypothesis BEFORE it is ever called a scientific theory.

What matters is what is truth.
A quick survey of what most people really prize, even in this thread, would disabuse us of that notion. Comfort rather than knowledge seems to be the currency.

God tells us truth about evolution in the Bible.
I won't argue about specifics of what God says or does not say, frankly religion shouldn't enter the debate at all. However, given that you and others have demonstrated a lack of understanding of not only what evolution actually is but also elementary science concepts how would you be able to discern anything God says as relating to evolution at all? If God is speaking about evolution in the bible how would you even understand it?

Evolution tells us truth right within the fact that it is theory - not known to be factual.
"Scientific theory" NOT "theory". Scientific theories are factual. They describe observed reality. They have been tested. They are fact not conjecture. The conjecture part of science is called the "hypothesis".

Science tells us truth in the fact that it shows evolution to be impossible.

I suspect your personal definition of "science" does not track with what the word actually means because otherwise your statement is flat out false.

Great post, thanks for sharing, nice to have it all spelled out so succinctly.

Flat Earth is so yesterday, the cool kids are all about the Hollow Earth nowadays.

This may have been answered before but I didn't see it when reading the thread...

Once the campaign is over, will you stagger the sells of the coins you've collected? Any worries about a series of big sells orders causing a dip just as you are funding? Just curious if there's been any thought given to this, or if it's a valid concern at all. I know in the world of stocks there are people who are trained to specifically sell a little at a time when exiting large positions to maximize their profits.

I am ENGLISH we wrote the word THEORY..
A theory is not FACT IT'S A THEORY ..

You do know many things might need to be wrote again ..
Like light speed..

LOL, ok then. Except we are talking not about "theory" but about "scientific theory".

If you rewrite light speed you'll have to rewrite the definition of a meter. Have at it, maybe you can successfully revive the concept of aether.
1167  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: June 21, 2017, 02:07:13 AM

Several of you have not read or understood the definitions of scientific theory and scientific law.

You are arguing over definitions of words you do not understand or just outright reject because they don't fit your preconceptions.

A scientific theory is NOT the same as your idea of a theory just being an unknown. Read it again and concentrate on the meaning because you have totally missed it.

There is a gravity law that is the observation of gravity, reduced to mathematics. There is the gravity theory that explains why we observe what is described by the gravity law. This meaning of "theory" is the basis of all science and is tested over and over and over again.

A scientific theory is only a scientific theory by virtue of the tests being so complete that no one can prove holes in it, that is as close to fact as you can get on any topic. All the other religious justification, appealing to unverifiable sources and texts stuff is magical thinking and has zero basis in rooting out facts.

The reality is that the scientific theory of evolution has been proven to hold up under the assault of thousands of experiments attacking its model. It is real. It is factual. If you can prove, via independently testable experiments that it is not true then you will be considered one of the greatest scientists that ever lived.

Creationism on the other hand can not stand up to any sort of testing and in many cases can not even be tested, it is by definition NOT science. Arguing as if it is science, on an equal footing to be discussed along with other scientific study is a damned lie.

You are all entitled to your own opinions of course but you are not entitled to your own facts and when you argue using scientific language but ignoring the accepted meanings of that language you aren't even trying to communicate, you are just shouting into the void to avoid looking at reality.

There are apparently many kinds of dangerous animals which they are scattered in different places. However I believe that being a citizen of Australia needs bravery as there are many kind of dangerous animals nearby the civilians.

If the funnel spiders and great white sharks don't get you the vegemite will.
1169  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: June 20, 2017, 07:41:11 PM
Science:

1. Hypothesis - a reasonable guess about something that you have observed or that you know. Must be testable.

2. Theory - one or more hypotheses that have been supported with repeated testing. A scientific theory by this definition is considered by scientists to be true and factual. A single failed test immediately removes the theory from being called a "theory".

3. Law - description of a repeatedly observed phenomenon, NOT why and NOT what causes it. Usually expressed in the simplest mathematical terms possible. Laws do not turn into theories, and vice versa.

Note theories in the scientific sense, not the everyday-language sense, are the highest form of certainty in science.
Also note there is the Law of Gravity (thanks Newton) and the Theory of Gravity (thanks Einstein).
1170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: June 20, 2017, 06:07:47 PM
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and at this point after so many lifetimes of serious investigation the burden of proof is on the creationists not the evolutionists. But what we get from creationists is made up "facts", unverifiable sources, strawman arguments, reasoning based on preconceived conclusions using spurious anecdotal evidence combined with the worst kind of pseudo-science, and just plain old ignorance like not knowing the difference between "theory" as used in everyday language and "scientific theory". In short, using logic against anyone's religion is a lose-lose proposition, a total waste of time and just gets both sides upset.
1171  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could btc hit 1 usd? on: June 20, 2017, 03:43:22 PM
Once it has got the same value the OP stated, but later it has grown little by little and has reached as high nearing to $3000.  People were predicting that the price of a Satoshi goes equal to $1, rather than a single bitcoin getting a value as 1$.

Had to look up what a satoshi value is, that would be nuts and probably as likely for that to go to $1 as a btc to go the other direction to $1.

Fine for me today, so far at least.

I wonder what the crystal ball gazers on here say about bitcoin becoming the world index reference, much like USD are today or gold used to be.

No, hopefully such things do not exist, you can sleep peacefully ! Also, it does not happen especially overnight !

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray all cryptos to increase
If the market crash before I wake
On ramen I will dine not steak
1176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could btc hit 1 usd? on: June 19, 2017, 06:19:23 PM
Possible? Sure. Likely? Not very. This isn't a penny stock offering with only hype from pump/dump boiler rooms while the principles flood the market with shares. BTC is a worldwide decentralized industry at this point. I think the main question is if it continues to grow or stalls but it's not going away anytime soon. Right now the big volume coins all move in relative lockstep up and down, presumably mostly tied to btc. I'm curious to see what happens when/if that locked sync gets lost, if btc will still be the "index" or not.

I can see a lot of hatred directed at the Chinese in this thread. I admit that the Chinese are not angels. Some of their culinary practices needs to be either banned or modified. But what about the others? For example, shark fin soup is available in most of the American states. Do you know how painful is the practice of cutting off the fins from the sharks? And the less we talk about Foie gras, that better.

Shark fin soup is illegal in many states in the USA. Most places you see that list it list "imitation shark fin soup", though how or if they verify this I have no idea.

I know he's alive for sure. He plays bass in my 80's cover band. He does a spot on impression of VH's Michael Anthony when we do Hot For Teacher.

Wow, bitcointalk off topic is even kookier than yahoo news comments. Flat earth, young earth creationists, conspiracy theories, bitcointalk has it all! That's kind of encouraging as it clearly doesn't take a rocket scientist to make money in cryptocurrency. Good luck to all of you whatever kind of nut you self identify as!

I applied to bittrex with all documents. They want to 3 bitcoin for application fee.
I need to fund for bittrex fee:  33X8yBFCLcy2GFNKzocuMEXztdExCjx6MA
If they reject application, I will refund sender wallets.
(btw we can look more exchange, you can share best idea for elastic)

From the words they sent you it looks like the 3 btc is optional and just for marketing, you are buying exposure on their platform probably in the side ads or popups, nothing to do with getting listed on the exchange.
