1162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TESTING] BitBar PushPool btb.binarycoins.eu [solved] on: May 07, 2013, 02:56:13 AM
Hash rate ~160MH (after I join back up). I think this is the highest it's been on this pool!

Network hash rate looks to be ~540MH currently (http://www.bitbar.info/stats/index.php)

I've made some of my own calculations, judging by the number of blocks found, and the pool hashrate, the number of blocks the pool has found is about 110, number of blocks mined is about 215, if the average pool hashrate over the last 24 hours has been about 100MH, then the total network should be about 200MH or so. Unless I've calc'd something wrong.

I'd say that's not a good way to calculate or check due to luck and hash rate fluctuation on the pool. I guess a good sanity check is vs litecoin's (hash rate/difficulty) ratio.

Right now litecoin's ratio is (11.74/396) = 0.0296
bitbar's ratio is (0.53/17.86) = 0.0296

Voila, same ratio. The math checks out on my estimate I think. (i made bitbar.info)

I'll leave the critiquing to you guys  Smiley.

Good effort, I like how you made BTC small compared to BTB, that's the idea, sent 0.05 to you too Smiley

I support raising the fee, I'd like to donate 2%, but as you said the average is 0.5%, I feel if I donate 2%, others are just getting a free ride on my donation. I guess set a 1.5% fee would be the best approach.

+1 for ImI, I have done a 4 BTC worth of trade with ImI, great transaction.

TL;DR

Is there a bitbar pool out there? What's the current difficulty?

Thanks

And of course the nethash page of the explorer API

http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/chain/BitBar/q/nethash

How do I read that exactly? I notice for the most recent block in the list, it's showing 143639548 ...so 143MH/s ... that differs from the figure shown on the other stats page, so I assume I'm reading it incorrectly.

I think he needs to alter algorithm for ppc based coin. The binarycoins pool alone has 100 MH/s. My estimate of hash rate is more in line with the difficulty I believe.

I find it interesting that most of the loud voices are big into litecoin when litecoin's current anti-dust relay/mining policy is far more aggressive than anything proposed for Bitcoin.

Because it's not? wtf are you talking about?

1173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Boycott 0.8.2 on: May 05, 2013, 09:55:41 PM
This is sad in so many ways. To sum it up :

*1. One guy is deciding stuff. Backed by thedev group; not very decentralized.

*2. No alternatives to resist this.

*3. Bitcoin no longer equals 100mil satoshis! only 00000 !!!

*4. Goes against the ideology of the original paper by Satoshi which clearly states that btc is created for small transactions.

*5. I believe value of btc will rise. at 184+ you wont be able to pay in pennies. At 1842+ not in tens ofpennies. At 18416+ not in dollars. [I believe btc can rise upto this value]

*6. The sum of 54.3uBTC was chosen based on 'current value in dollars' it seems. Disappointing! Why are we comparing to fiat? We aim to move away from it.

Practically this is a change in the protocol and the way bitcoin works.

There is, the alternative is LTC, it's designed for micro-transactions that BTC chain can't handle. Like I said a year ago, LTC will be a transactional currency, while BTC will be a reserve currency (no tiny transactions allowed at all). LTC is a great supplement for BTC.

Anyway to report bugs?

My BTB wallet freeze right after I launched it... tried Re-launched it, reboot pc many times, deleting all the cache files it still remain the same.

If nothing else works, you can still run bitbard.exe in command line mode, and use it like namecoin, in command line mode you can still do everything.
1176  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 04, 2013, 09:42:36 PM
About the NMC, if ASICMINER exchanges it on BTC-e, it should make it in a way that does not make the exchange rate sink down. The market for NMC is really shallow compared to BTC.

Besides, BTC-e is not the only NMC exchange, Vircurex and Cryptonit also exchange NMC <-> BTC

He don't even have to sell on BTC-E. I'll take any amount of NMC at 20% discount to BTC-E market price, and handle the selling. Share holder still get extra income, and friedcat only has to spend 30 seconds to send NMC to me.
1177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Im fairly confident the NSA (US Gov) Can 51% Any Coin At Any Time on: May 04, 2013, 04:42:46 AM
When the bitcoin market cap is 1 trillion, the mining network hardware would be worth roughly 10B at minimum, so the NSA need to at minimum invest 10B to have a remote chance to 51%, also the government usually can't work that efficiently, more like 30B investment. Good luck getting that budget passed in Congress.

For those not want to open up client to check on network stats, I put together a network stats page here: http://www.bitbar.info/stats/index.php

I will add more stats and forum next week. Site is not done.
