This is great news. Only 8% currently own cryptos, and another 8% plan to. IOW, the number planning to get in will double the ranks of crypto owners. BullishAF.

Assuming that's correct, we'll be in for another mega-rally. Not entirely convinced about some of their numbers though. Adding up the amounts invested works out at around $70 billion, for example:

Mining wasn't banned in Plattsburgh.  They will not allow new mining operations to use the subsidized local utility.  Maybe try getting a slight understanding of a topic before freaking out.

How stupid do you have to be to oversell your electricity when you have a fixed subsidised supply? Wtf did they think was going to happen? These guys are blaming Bitcoin, when it is their own economic competence at fault. I wouldn't be surprised if these protoplasmic jellies crawled out of lake Champlain.

Fine, you backwater, slack-jawed yokels. Just sit there pompously in your poverty with your unsold electricity. Nobody cares about your town, and it will probably be bulldozed down in a few years to make way for landfill.

Last summer majormax said there would be no new ATH for another few years. Bitcoin hit a $20k ATH half a year later.

Have to give you props for doing the research. How soon these pontificators forget their hubris! Perhaps they ought learn an ounce of humility.

It is unlikely to go below 100B, but I think well below 250B is a certainty in the next year or so.

How'd you figure that one out when you've said BTC is going to $2K and the alts are doomed?
1166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 18, 2018, 04:23:41 AM
I'm disappointed that you, of all the distinguished gentlemen in this fine room, didn't come up with some fascinating, food-for-thought explanation.

What's to explain? This feels pretty pedestrian to me.
1167  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 16, 2018, 04:00:05 AM
This's interesting. We're no-where near the dotcom bubble yet in terms of market-cap:

I generally agree with this. The idea that it's the end of a great bubble conflicts with the capitalization of previous great bubbles. The South Sea Bubble went to $4tn in real terms and that was confined to a single country (albeit a world power then).

As Tera points out, we should include all crypto in the calculation, but at ~$850B the peak is still rather underwhelming as the finale of a global mania.

Is there anyone else, who comes here just to see the hardcore bitcoiners being mad at the world for not buying their virtual units? Am I the only one? Is there something wrong with me that I enjoy observing entitled people not getting what they want? So many self-aware questions rise in this place.

Amazingly, you are not the first to come here to hoot like a hyena. In fact, you are more like a sausage coming out of a factory, ho hum!

If I saw those balances above all moving at once I would expect the price to become too cheap.    It would then spike down and back up again, sharp like shutting off a tap suddenly.   After that the market tries to right itself in one direction but a more progressive way.
They could drip those balances in over 6 months, I really expect that but cant be sure with a liquidator exactly.   I know with Lehman brothers, that company will be 'operating' running down its various assets for decades probably.

Mentioned this before, but there's unlikely to be any more movements until there is a ruling on CR (civil rehabilitation). The trustee has made creditors whole with respect to their JPY claims - he has no reason to take further action.

I think youre right.  My urine is perpetually bright yellow... I'm going to cut out the b100.  Thanks for the advice!

Tell us more about your urine. Seriously though, I do find this interesting. Didn't think it was possible to OD on the Bs.

I tried all the exchanges and I ended up with Okex because it was the only one that worked for me today, even now exx.com doesnt work, but you are right Okex is the worst price for UBTC, better check the others just in case they are working for you.

Feels a bit sad all these forks coming to and end, its been real nice while it lasted.
The only ones I'm waiting on now are Lightning Bitcoin (LBTC) & Bitcoin Atom

Yeah, these third-rung exchanges can be very flaky. Always try the sites though Tor if you're having problems.

Not sure we've seen the end of this forking madness yet, but our free bags of money do seem to be dwindling. Tongue

Managed to do UBTC but BTCP doesn't support segwit wallets and since the fork happened after I moved my coins to a Segwit enabled address I am screwed until they release a wallet that can do segwit.
By then the price will undoubtedky tank as usual.

Legacy addresses definitely have an advantage when it comes to claiming shitforks. The BTCP wallet from Bittrex will open up for withdrawal soon, so there could be some big dumpage. You'll also want to sell, as there's chatter that they'll burn unclaimed coins next year.

If you are in a hurry you can dump your coins here r/bitcoinairdropstrades.

I dumped my LBTC&BTCP and some other airdrop coins before they even get listed on the exchanges. OTC trades are risky though. Don't do it If you don't know what you are doing.

Yep, sold my LBTC there. Has been doing around 0.5%, but the price seems to have dipped recently.
1173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2018, 04:55:48 PM
For anyone looking for some Sunday afternoon fork action,  I just completed two fork dumps which have recently become dumpable.

1) BTCP (Bitcoin Private) I used the electrum client from  from https://btcprivate.org
Sell on https://tradesatoshi.com (Currently about $60/BTC)

2) UBTC, Client from https://www.ub.com/project/wallet  sell on https://www.okex.com  (Currently about $16/BTC)

You got a bum price if you used okex. It's trading about 2x on exx.com. Can confirm able to withdraw BTC from there without verification.

There's a great site to see which exchanges to use for airdrops: forkdrops.io. Note, you can filter the exchange list by coin also.

but, again I expect this market to be down or sideways this year...the trustee of the mt. gox is dumping on the exchange..if he is smart

he is telling the wife, WHEN, he is doing so, to play the market...500 million down since Nov 2017 I heard, only 1.5 billion left to liguidate

There's a fair chance the remaining estate will go to civil rehabilitation, in which case he won't be dumping, as the distribution will be largely or fully in bitcoin.
1175  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2018, 01:37:58 AM
Those bought bitcoin and forgot about it became rich. While those who bought bitcoin, stuck their eyes to the value daily, didn't win anything at all (that unfortunately includes me as well).

Even your 1 in 30 seems more optimistic to me. It should be somewhat like 1 in 50.

Not everyone who is active is shortsighted - some can see the forest for the trees.

I'll bet you .1 btc btcp will be trading on bittrex Kucoin and many others before the end of the month

I'll bet you .1 BTC (more if you want) that it doesn't get listed for trade on Bittrex by the end of the month. If you're interested, tell me who you'd like to use for escrow from this list of trusted members. Cheers.

A market where you can withdraw but not deposit is an asymmetric one, and will skew prices. You'd think after we've had so many coins listed artificially this way on Yobit and other dodgy exchanges that people would exercise more caution.
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BTCP] BitcoinPrivate: A Truly Private Bitcoin [Equihash] on: March 05, 2018, 09:29:46 PM
wow just wait a little bit more. Patience, please. Bitcoin private is not listed yet.
I am not saying the price will go to the moon after exchange but 0.006 BTC is also not a real price.

Someone is really buying and someone is really selling at that price. You do not need an exchange for price discovery. Granted, this discovery is currently poor for a lack of trades, but it's a lot more meaningful than a price entertained in somebody's imagination.

0.0002

If you think so, then place a [WTB] bid. I doubt you'll find any sellers for awhile...

Also, one is never sure when those shitcoins are gonna pump later. Decisions decisions.

There's always that. I'm holding on to the really cheap ones like Bitcoin World in case there's some whale action.
