Is that the only way we get him to buy the drink that he promised each and every one of us?

It's like danish summer here in Wellington. By which I mean not-cold enough to go for a walk outdoors without regretting it, and cloudy most of the time.
I'm far more interested in the people. Spent the first few days just sleeping in my room, about to start exploring the city today.
Wellington weather is mostly shit ... and not representative of the rest of NZ ... like the people. Wellington is infested with gubmint drones and sundry other parasites living off ripping off taxpayers. Looks like it. It's not really a bad place, may even objectively be better than where I'm from, but not getting any New Home vibes either. Too many whales and skinny hipsters. I keep thinking people like that should switch around their body weight, they would both be happier and healthier for it.

This's interesting. We're no-where near the dotcom bubble yet in terms of market-cap: I generally agree with this. The idea that it's the end of a great bubble conflicts with the capitalization of previous great bubbles. The South Sea Bubble went to $4tn in real terms and that was confined to a single country (albeit a world power then). As Tera points out, we should include all crypto in the calculation, but at ~$850B the peak is still rather underwhelming as the finale of a global mania.

Does anyone here have any experience of internet meets? I have a sneaking feeling they'd be fucking horrifying. And for some of the longstanding members there must be people with grudges against them out there, let alone blown opsec with wallet balances being linkable.
I'll send an actor. Or a cat.
Once. I did it once when I was 12 years old. This was pre-internet days; a dial-up BBS meet-up in the 80s. Wow was that awkward. These guys were NOTHING like I imagined from their online personas. Granted, I was pretty fucking naive. Some things are just better left imagined. Yeah well kids act out when they get online because it's the only place they can. I remember that. These days I am what you see, I'll talk about jews in person as easily as here.

My experience is that people tend to avoid (unnecessary) conflict IRL. It's not worth it.

Is that the only way we get him to buy the drink that he promised each and every one of us? TBH, if there was ever a WO meetup somewhere in Vegas, and a house is rented, we should contact Endemol or some other company to make a documentary/reality show out of it. I'll throw at least 0.5 BTC towards the alcohol budget. I have a feeling it'd probably be a really lame meetup TBH. I'm not a very social person and generally hate most everyone IRL. Do you realize we were talking about a $100K party? 0.5BTC would be $50K by then.... Quoting for posterity!

Make it on Las Vegas during summer and I'm sold. Probably the only place in the world that could stand the assorted and extravagant bunch of us celebrating that awesome milestone in the most extreme and extravagant ways Maybe we could even hire the Vodoo Lounge at the Rio (51st floor) just for our party. Does anyone here have any experience of internet meets? I have a sneaking feeling they'd be fucking horrifying. And for some of the longstanding members there must be people with grudges against them out there, let alone blown opsec with wallet balances being linkable. I'll send an actor. Or a cat. Yea. I had a good buddy from WOW. My wife and I spent more time playing with this dude than anyone else. One day he mentioned something about where he lived and we were like ummm that sounds familiar... turns out he lived, and I kid you not, about 20 minutes away. So we met up. 2 other dudes from guild lived in the same area cuz they where his IRL friends brought into guild. It was fun enough. We watched a few movies. It wasn't the greatest thing ever or anything. We only did it the one time. But it was fine. I still see him pretty often since he works at my local gunshop now and I do love to loiter at the gun shop. But let's be honest, I'm there for the guns not him.

We may all be introverted nerds but we are the razors edge of the future. And for better or worse were all here sharing this together. I think it would be crazy fun. Just watching some of you play craps would be worth it.
I'm in if the 100k party happens.
I'll pitch in .01 to .05 worth when that day comes.
It would make the damn news.

I was involved in arranging/attending a BBS party and it was pretty cool. The difference being that everyone resided within the local calling codes of the BBS. What was most surprising was that there were no surprises. Even though we were anonymous and had nicknames, people were pretty much the same as their online personas. I left the party a little too early though because apparently i missed Rapunzel's table dance. If i remember correctly, she was the resident cat lady; an eccentric artist. Confirmed. I regularly do RL meetups of folk from the Second Life music community. We take over a hotel and jam, drink, and bullshit for a weekend. Jams all over the planet, about two a quarter. Of course, everyone in SL is 25 and beautiful. Outside, we're a motley assemblage. But peoples are peoples - pretty much the same in SL or in RL.

Do you realize we were talking about a $100K party? 0.5BTC would be $50K by then.... Quoting for posterity! Oh, sheeit. LOL. I must have missed the "$100k Party" part. $50k of booze in one night ? Is that even possible ? Without anyone dying ? EDIT: Now, if the devils weed is legally available in Nevada, that could be fun doing $25k of booze and $25k of edibles/veggies. You are all going to die from overdoses, unless a lot of WO trolls show up to rescue (If they all don't happen to be Notlambchop?) we have falling lantern, and falling and shroomie and the old timer trolls showing up, but then they end up being the same peeps, so that is when the hiring of actors come in handy. And, I'm sure Stolfi doesn't drink or smoke, but Adamsgbt would be more than willing to have a few.. Of course, chartbuddy and richie_t are the same peeps. Surely, after Adam gets drunk and smokes some weed, he is not going to be very pleasant with infofront. I can see Roachie getting a little clan of haters such as Ibian, explorer and arriemoller together.. just gotta keep matches and bed sheets away from them. Terabeara, jbreher and PeterR will be pretty boringly complaining the whole time about the party being too much fun, and that we gotta bring down the fun level a notch or two to be more realistic. Probably Jimbo, bitserver and d_eddie will be fighting over the guitars and trying to take over the role of the band. I'm sure Torque will end up getting arrested for sure, a conspiracy, of course. Jojo and v8 will be obsessed with identifying me in order that they will be able to give me a snuggie wedgie, but I am not going to be there, except perhaps I will wire the place in order to be able to watch remotely.. alternatively, I might have binoculars.
