What about Coca Cola?Everyone drinks it all over the world.....in Atlanta in the 1880s, Pemberton sold a syrup made of wine and coca extract he called "Pemberton's French Wine Coca," which was touted at a cure for headaches and nervous disorders....also called “brain tonic”..............
Coca-Cola was originally used as a nerve and brain tonic and a medical elixir. Coca-Cola was named by Frank Robinson, one of Pemberton's close friends, he also penned the famous Coca-Cola logo in unique script .
But now ,Coca Cola  is no longer seen as an medical elixir ….

now it's something that drives people to get medical help

I once cooked coca cola
try it yourself, after the water vapors out

something really gross, oil-like is left, looks like something left from a dinosaur
i never cooked but i saw this video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhkWQnHpaIk&feature=kp

the sugar be something like caramel...also if you boil water and sugar it will be something like that..only the colour change.....still is not good and not to talk about diet coke wich has aspartane ,that gives you cancer......
1182  Other / Politics & Society / Iraq Isis Crisis: Medieval Sharia Law Imposed on Millions in Nineveh Province on: June 13, 2014, 03:27:45 PM
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/iraq-isis-c...ovince-1452401
Quote
The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams (Isis) has imposed a strict set of Sharia laws on the citizens of Nineveh province just days after capturing the provincial capital of Mosul.

In a document circulating on social media attributed to the group, Isis warned tribal leaders and sheikhs not to "work with [the Iraqi] government and be traitors" while proclaiming that women should only go outside if absolutely necessary.

"For women, dress decently and wear wide clothes. Only go out if needed," read the document as translated by Al Aan TV reporter Jenan Moussa.

Further rules included bans on drugs, alcohol and cigarettes while public gatherings, the possession of guns and the carrying of flags not of the Islamic state were outlawed.

"For those asking who are you? We are soldiers of Islam and took on our responsiblity to bring back glory of the Islamic Caliphate.

"Money we took from [the] Safavid government is now public. Only Imam of Muslims can spend it. Anyone who steals [will have their] hands cut," the document translation read.

Without the eradication of Islam, this savagery is to be expected.

Trying to civilize a group of savages who would rather live in the 11th century instead of the 21st was a waste of American blood and money. Hopefully we learn from this colossal mistake.

it isn't that it is more reliable than openDNS, it seems that it doesn't do what you want it to do.

openDNS is very reliable when it comes to filtering websites. i guess i misunderstood your questions. i took it as you were looking for something that would block porn/other content you didnt want your kids to have access to.

good luck.
1184  Other / Off-topic / Re: Getting a parental control for my 5 year old on: June 13, 2014, 02:31:14 PM
what makes you think openDNS won't block 100% of sites? nothing will block 100%

i have been using openDNS for years, many networks that i have implemented this on have pornography blocked and i have yet to see an adult site that wasn't blocked and let through the filter. with any content filtering system, mistakes will be made and sites can get mis-categorized.

did you actually try openDNS and have it fail you? maybe you didn't set it up properly?
1185  Other / Off-topic / Re: Getting a parental control for my 5 year old on: June 13, 2014, 02:23:03 PM
why not try opendns?
1186  Other / Off-topic / Re: Getting a parental control for my 5 year old on: June 13, 2014, 01:59:52 PM
I looked for "browsers for kids" and "software for kids" and a couple of hits interested me. One of them was Kidzui and the other was Magic Desktop 8. Do you have any experience with these? They look exceptionally great, I was wondering if these work as good as they look.
nope, sorry.

not sure if you gave up on opendns or not, but i would recommend reading more info on their site. after doing a quick search on kidzui it appears to be a browser that needs to be used. that might work, but if your kid accidentally opens another browser, it looks like they will be able to view un-filtered content.

the nice thing about opendns is that it is free and you can configure ipads, iphones, etc...to use the free service, as well.

How reliable is this in your experience?

As for the games, I wanted something for my kid to play with while is in the computer, most games are for grownups nowadays...
opendns.com is pretty reliable. it might not block 100% of the sites, but nothing does.

Does anyone recommend a good parental control that comes with games and preapproved sites for children?
I don't get the game part.

check out www.opendns.com

you can set the openDNS servers on the computer/device your kids will be using and it will filter out the categories you set.

People with superstitions like friday 13th,black cat ,etc..are good at finding various excuses for doing and not doing things. If things don’t work out for them, they will have excuses handy. They easily imagine magical effects and sometimes even modify or cancel a superstition.

Ok, lets start, bad things he has done . he divided the country like first thing, and US debt by 2016 is going to be 27 trillion $ and 15 million of people with unaffordable health care failed acts in Crimea in Ukraine IRS scandals ...
The affordable Care Act was not a failure.... it was the Legislative Branch of government that screwed that up...their tactics made it impossible to pass anything remotely close to a universal healthcare system in the US! Half of what President Obama is being blamed for were direct results of republican refusal to compromise!! Which kind of defeats the purpose of a democratic form of government. All the Bill actually does is protect people from the Insurance companies...it's a Patient Bill of Rights...not genuine health care coverage for Americans that need it!!! Universal Heath Care was the original goal, this was just a first step!!

What I think is that life in America is not improved right now , but it is not going down as well , like when Bush left the office , we could say that wages are keeping up barely with this inflation ... If we talk about the federal deficit it is still high but lower than it was in time when Bush left the place of president ... And we need to give him a medal for that school improvements about racism

We can not judge someone only by his bad moves , look both sides make compilation than judge .

Obama is not bad at all . That’s my opinion !

Fixing the US Economy
Winning the war in Iraq

The US economy is worse off now, than it was during the years of GW Bush.

And regarding the war in Iraq, read this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=647312.0
He did not win the war in Iraq. The invasion of Iraq wasn't really a war in a first place. It was a massacre. But he was the one who withdrew US troops from Iraq and he happened to be the president when Osama Bin Laden was found and killed by a SWAT team.

He can't really be credited for the killing of Osama bin Laden but he did made a good move by withdrawing US troops from Iraq and giving them back to their families.

I've used a lot of great languages: Common Lisp, Haskell, and Smalltalk, and of course all of the standards C, C++, Java, C#. But I've come to the realization that I think Python is pretty much my favorite tool to solve problems.

Energy drinks with added hemp oil is the new trend!

Seeds of discord: Popularity of energy drinks made with hemp oil stirs debate

http://www.rep-am.com/news/local/808063.txt

We've got these in The Netherlands from quite a long time. It does contain a very very very small part of extract from hemp.  No, you won't experience any effects from this.

I think it's just a marketing plan for youngsters, who want to be "cool" with their energydrinks and think everything about Cannabis is "cool".   However, I've tried these too. The taste isn't bad, it's just one of the Red Bull alternatives..

Lol. I would love to try that one.
Red bull is not the best by my opinion, it only has best marketing.
Cannabis Energy Drink is nothing more than a caffeinated drink. The ingredient list is packed with common ingredient, which the company claims is common because the best ingredients are used over and over again by good companies.

Invention of LSD.
Albert Hofmann, a chemist. He was researching lysergic acid derivatives in a laboratory in Basel, Switzerland in 1938. Hofmann unintentionally swallowed a small amount of LSD while researching its properties. He subsequently had the first acid trip in history, marking the entry of a drug that would become a theme of undercurrent culture, most signified the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."

1929: The day the Stock Market Crashed
It was devastating economic event that shattered millions of life and created tidal wave of effects around the world. Remember October 29, 1929.
I don't think crash in stock market can be treated as a natural event... It is something man-made, something which is indirectly related to our actions.. And moreover, these things happen very frequently these days.. Few days back, there was excessive movement in the commodity market.. and the reason behind it was NSEL failed to clear a payment..

I would like to ad another great name Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Oct. 2, 1869-Jan. 30, 1948) used non-violent civil disobedience to lead the second most populous nation in the world, India, to independence from the occupying British.

His non-violent campaign was an utter failure. It was the more aggressive campaigns by Indians such as Subhash Chandra Bose which gave India freedom from the British. The policies of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on the other hand caused millions of civilian deaths in the post-independence religious riots.

i found the most creepy thing about gandhi is that he slept nude in bed with his granddaughter, to test his will against sexual desires.. wtf?
That sounds really creepy, can you tell us were read this ,maybe a link? Thanks
1200  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people deny the climate change? on: June 12, 2014, 05:17:23 PM
Yeah, why do people do that? I mean, come on, it's a fact for christ sake!
What do they win from denying it? And even if they don't think it's true, what would be the problem with a green sustainable world?

Selfish economic interests are the reasons why climate change is ignored. The same reason that the overcrowding of the country is ignored. Money does not equal happiness.
Sadly, that's true. Millions of people work far too hard and have lost the meaning of life. As life becomes more miserable, we think that working even harder to make us a bit more richer will make us happy again. The treadmill forever continues.
