121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Portfolio Set-Up 2018 on: December 28, 2017, 12:53:43 PM
I think it would be a good idea to look in to a few marijuana coins. Some of them have actual ties to the industry so I believe they'll flourish as more states and countries legalize it. Check out a comparison I did: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2658296.0
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALTCOINS under $1 on: December 28, 2017, 12:30:58 PM
Now's the perfect time to get in to some marijuana-related coins, what with California's legalization about to kick in and Canada and Mexico to follow suit. Check out my thread to compare the different available coins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2658296.0
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Comparison of Marijuana-themed Coins on: December 28, 2017, 12:23:33 PM
With marijuana popping up in the news so often and California's recent legalization, there have been a few big spikes in almost every coin with a weed-related theme. The problem is that not all of these coins actually have ties to the marijuana industry and are just trying to capitalize on the name. I put together this list to help everyone see the difference between each coin. My goal is to help investors make informed decisions backed by facts and real world relationships. For this list I will only be covering coins listed on CoinMarketCap. I'm also not counting "we want to be the top crypto for cannabis" as a tie to the industry, since almost every single coin says that. If I missed something let me know!

Please note that at this point I have had no direct contact with any of the developers regarding the status of their project(s). All of the information in this post is based off of what I could find on their websites and social media accounts. Percentage changes shown below are calculated weekly and are not meant to be viewed as completely up-to-date numbers; they're included to give a quick idea of recent performance.

Total Market Cap (16 coins)
$82,942,122  (▲ 9%)

Top 5 Market Cap
1. PotCoin (POT) - $28.0 mil (▲ 10%)
2. HempCoin (THC) - $19.0 mil (▲ 37%)
3. Paragon (PRG) - $14.3 mil (▲ 2%)
4. Token (TKS) - $7.3 mil (- 0%)
5. DopeCoin (DOPE) - $7.2 mil (▼ 13%)

Could be the "officiaI" account where the L is actually an uppercase i. But even the real account is just a cash grabbing pumper that should be shunned along with Palm Beach.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡[BOUNTY]⚡[ANN]⚡BTC + FUND⚡ FUNDCRU: Blockchain-Powered Fundraising on: December 24, 2017, 11:25:36 PM
Week 19.12 - 25.12
Lol come on dude, even if the bounty hadn't been suspended weeks ago the main post still says it would have ended on the 19th. Hope you don't expect to get paid for any of this, cause they still haven't followed through on their promise to pay for week 2.
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thank you Bitcoin and GOODBYE (Let it goooo) on: December 22, 2017, 04:02:38 AM
Every time Bitcoin goes down at all = BITCOIN IS DEAD

Every time Bitcoin starts going up again = ALTCOINS ARE DEAD

Maybe we could find a happy medium? I mean, Bitcoin obviously isn't going anywhere. The general public is still just starting to find out what "cryptocurrency" is, and most people aren't ready to look further than Bitcoin. The still relatively small group of enthusiasts will continue to go on about network fees and TPS and Bitcoin may not grow like it did over the past couple months, but it is absolutely not going away or being replaced. Yet.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: C | 7 BTC ...Dec 15th - 30st [Bounty Thread] on: December 22, 2017, 01:32:58 AM
Do you know if someone from the first phase has been paid? I would like to know that to decide if I have to change my signature. Thank you.
No, no one has been paid.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Bounties with BTC/ETH payout on: December 21, 2017, 04:06:53 PM
Do bounty campaigns that pay in BTC/ETH ever work the way they're supposed to?

In the time I've been a member I've attempted to participate in 3 bounties that all claimed they'd pay out in BTC and/or ETH. The first one (FUNDCRU) was supposed to last 4-6 weeks with weekly BTC payments. I received payment for the first week, but then when it came time to be paid for the second week the devs announced that they were suspending the bounty campaign indefinitely. No payment was ever received for week 2, and they never locked the thread so some poor fools kept reporting their work all the way through week 6. The second one (Private City) claimed they'd be paying out in ETH. The campaign manager pretty quickly closed the thread after citing problems with the project dev and no payment was ever received. Now I'm on my third one, the infamous "C." In case you don't know what happened: the original bounty thread claimed that they would be paying out 15 BTC (or ETH if you so chose) over two campaigns. The first payout was supposed to happen on December 16th, but the dev asked for 72 hours to calculate all the payments which made the new deadline December 20th. As of now, no one has received any payment. They keep claiming they're going to post a BTC and an ETH address so people can check the payout transactions, but so far all they've done is add a little line or two to the post every day to maintain the illusion of updates.

I'm beginning to think that any campaign that isn't going to pay you with their own token is just looking to get free work out of people by promising something they never intend to deliver.
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [IMPORTANT UPDATE]: C | 15 BITCOINS TO SHARE [Bounty Thread] on: December 19, 2017, 03:15:20 PM
Lots of very impatient people who seem to think the lack of instant payment = scam... Just a few things that make me believe we'll be paid:

- Ehrhc is still posting and providing updates rather than disappearing like most scammers would
- I've received multiple PMs regarding my participation in the PR campaign (as recently as yesterday)
- The second bounty thread. Why would someone bother setting up a bounty that's supposed to run until Dec 31st if they're going to scam people out of a payment on Dec 19th?
- The nature of the ANN and bounty threads. If you check the donation addresses they clearly didn't get as much as most scam coins/tokens do. If they wanted more money, all they'd have to do is set up a cookie-cutter ICO where most of the tokens get dumped. Instead they chose a style that was clearly off-putting to a lot of people, but very intriguing to many more.

Not to mention the large number of users that took part in multiple campaigns each... So I'm choosing to wait patiently for now, though I'll be happy to take up a pitchfork and torch if nothing happens over the next couple days Wink

Desire Coin Oneclick miner
Than it is better than Ccminer?
"One click" miners are never better than ccminer. Often times they exist only to grab an extra fee from people who are too lazy to set up ccminer themselves.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [IMPORTANT UPDATE]: C | 15 BITCOINS TO SHARE [Bounty Thread] on: December 16, 2017, 07:39:01 PM

IMPORTANT: Allow us 72 hours to process and send everyone share! DON'T PM, OR LEAVE A REPLY BEFORE THAT.

IMPORTANT: If you pm us or left a reply somewhere that you "Still didn't get paid" before 72 hours pass, or you reply "who got paid" or anything similar ...YOUR PAYMENT WILL BE HELD 2 WEEKS..TRY US.

Quoting this for the people above me who clearly didn't read the updated main post  Roll Eyes
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 15, 2017, 10:29:25 PM
The death of net neutrality is a good thing.  Keep the government out of it.  We don't need them censoring what content we have access to.  Allow the free market to operate.  Some ISP tries to throttle you or block crypto sites then another ISP will pop up and offer better service.  Free market FTW!!
I think it's highly unrealistic to expect the death of net neutrality to foster the growth of smaller ISPs. As it stands, many ISPs already have "monopolies" since so few of them actually choose to compete with each other. There are plenty of areas around where I live where your only choice is either AT&T *or* Charter, not both. These bigger companies often own various construction rights and things to prevent competitors from digging/building the required infrastructure to provide comparable service. Heck, Comcast and Verizon are even fighting legal battles all the time to stop cities from setting up their own municipal broadband. So now they can charge customers even more to fuel their legal/permit battles and make sure no real threats ever rise.
Besides, I don't know about you, but I pay for a certain amount of speed. Slower plans are available.
Cheers!
That's completely irrelevant now. No matter what speed you're paying for it will be legal for them to throttle you unless you give them what they want. If they decide they don't like what you're doing, they could even block you completely. That's why I'm a little worried about mining; I know it doesn't use much bandwidth, but our ability to connect to pools and submit shares now depends on the whim of a few huge companies.

135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 14, 2017, 11:51:52 PM
A lot of good points so far; it's easy to lose perspective when you are immersing yourself in something like crypto mining. It will be interesting to see if any ASIC miners in America report anything though, especially if they get their internet through smaller ISPs that have the time to pay close attention. I understand that it doesn't use a lot of bandwidth but let's be honest this whole ordeal isn't even remotely about anything other than milking every possible cent out of consumers. As soon as they get a whiff of any significant crypto mining profits I will not be surprised to see them go after it.
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 14, 2017, 08:29:33 PM
The FCC voted today to kill net neutrality which will now allow ISPs to throttle/block any traffic they see fit. I've seen a lot of people speculating that they're doing this to try to quash the rise of cryptocurrencies which they view as a threat to USD. Do you think it's likely that we'll see American-based mining pools and possibly even exchanges throttled? And if so, would that hurt or help mining for Bitcoin and other popular altcoins (ie would the decrease in total miners make the value go down since other miners now receive more, or would the drop in network hash rate result in more difficult mining and thus higher valued coins)?
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 🚀🚀 DOPECOIN : Online shops accepting DopeCoin and payment gateway OTW 🚀 on: December 14, 2017, 02:40:38 AM
Looks like DOPE is staging for the next leg up on Bittrex.
I keep seeing huge amounts of BTC in the bids, makes it a pretty easy call when I'm trying to decide whether to buy more dope Wink

I wish they would've locked the thread like they said they were going to... it's just getting sad to see all these oblivious people keep posting updates for a bounty campaign that no longer exists.
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: My ( altminer.net ) review on: December 12, 2017, 07:33:01 PM
I've been getting payouts just fine every 2 hours for a couple days now. Are you using the correct wallet for the currency you want to mine?
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin going crazy on: December 12, 2017, 06:16:37 PM
Bitcoin is the general populace's introduction to crypto, then when they delve slightly beneath the surface they discover Litecoin and Ethereum. I think there's a good chance they follow in BTC's footsteps somewhat, though probably to a lesser degree.
