I have to bow. Are you really just one person?

Of course not - it's Tim Berners-Lee and Stephen Hawking wearing a consolidation suit...  Grin

Has MineP.IT FAIL pool FAILed?

It is not working atm, but I will talk with Danz0r (the owner of the pool). I trust him so there should be no problems imo.

Yes, he's cool - he's resolved several issues for me since I've been using the pool...  Cool

Awesome stuff.  Shocked Smiley

Thinking it over a bit if I were to start up a web project that involved getMarked it would actually make more sense to use Wordpress considering it's the most widely used CMS. And since it's likely going to be high on the list of things that we would want to integrate getMarked with it just seems to be a better idea to start with that instead of trying to get fancy using a newer CMS.

Still have a lot of thinking to do on exactly what I want it to be. But I'll probably just start out with some articles or something a long those lines and go from there. Eventually though I would definitely like some sort of discussion forum type thing that uses Marks. I think that can be a great application of getMarked.

Yes Este, I was remarking on WP with my blinkers on as a CMS but of course, it everywhere and therefore an absolutely ideal first candidate CMS for getMarked integration...

Excellent

* QR getMarked codes on product labelling? = easy smartphone etc. getMarking of a 'physical' product

* perhaps some form of other innovative off-line > online getMarking route? Amazon etc. send out complimentary vouchers with deliveries - a printed getMark 'voucher'?

Just thoughts... apologies if I missed reference to any of the above in the content - need to re-read to fully appreciate!

I am building a little list of people known to me who operate websites where I feel Get Marked would be a great feature and add value to their content.

I am also a member of a forum where although I have been inactive for some time but which is populated with some very successful site operators and speculators. They are always looking for an 'edge' and ways to add value to their services. I may not have sufficient forum privileges currently to post in the 'lounge' but the forum operator only lives less than 100km from me.

I will await developments prior to making the above content contact as I feel strongly that a cohesive 'joined up' approach is best.

Today there may be a significant addition to the Get Marked proposal. It is being reviewed by trusted peers now.

If the reply is that the proposal is sound, we will have to act quickly, and be prepared for a change in momentum and an unknown but positive impact.

I apologise for being vague at this time, you may want to monitor the thread for an update over the coming hours.

Get Marked Funding Goal: 0.7/8 BTC, with 0.75 BTC pledged.

Very interesting...  Smiley

What about https://ghost.org/download/ or http://www.silverstripe.org/ ?

Are these any good? It's been a while since I've done any sort of web project so I'm way out of the loop.

I'd rather not do wordpress but I'm not 100% against it. But getmarked definitely has to have a wordpress plugin at some point! Think of the millions of people who use wordpress being exposed to Marks/Bitmark for the first time. It's like a faucet but for regular people who use the web. Such a massive untapped market of people not into crypto, but this gives them a way to actually use crypto without downloading anything and not risking anything yet.

Not familiar with Ghost - took a look at Silver stripe a while back but didn't 'grab me'! A lot of UK Local Authorities use it I believe...

I actually really like Joomla but haven't used it for some time. Wordpress; well to me, WP is responsible for making much of the web look, well, Wordpressy! But the plugin is a 'must have', totally agree together with an embedded html option. Consolidation will have it covered...

If I think of anything I will shout.

131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: July 22, 2014, 03:57:17 PM
I'm thinking about starting a website that will use getmarked. Mainly a platform to publish articles that can be marked and also a forum that can implement getmarked as a karma system at some point.

Anyone have any recommendations as to what framework would be good for something like that?

This forum is open-source (www.simplemachines.org) and sure that one could plug-in the GetMarked system?

There are a lot of CMS/Blog platforms - Wordpress, Joomla etc most have many free and paid modules / plugins for forums etc. but I find them all a bit bloated really and some have security issues?

There you go - GetMarked Wordpress Plugin...

Straight HTML / PHP is lighter in weight but obviously requires much more input...

Apologies if rather basic advice!
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: July 22, 2014, 03:00:13 PM
We should not be donating in BTC, but rather, in BTM! This is a much better way to fuel innovation and create incentive for further development!

I could not agree more. The Bitmark Foundation needs BTM to ensure Bitmarks future.

I personally just need some help for a very short term in the form of BTC for the project(s) to really reach critical mass. I did everything I could to avoid this, hence no IPO, exchange, premine or anything unfair.

I agree also however, right now, BTM does not pay bills, mortgage/rent, or put food on the table... These are the 'needs' that must be met to ensure the continued 'family support' - without that, you have nothing.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: July 22, 2014, 02:30:57 PM
Meeting living costs and striking a balance does not = reward, it = survival

I for one could not give up my 'day-job' to pursue my speculation for reward, as much as I would like to!

I feel the same but our notion of reward differs. The reward for me is to create a day job for myself and others doing something with merit.

The plan was to balance time to enable this, the project demands more than I can give for a short time.

Which do I let slip? my family, my paid work (also my family), or bitmark?
Without a little bit of help here it will have to be bitmark, as much as I love everything we do here, I have asked my family to make enough concessions, I cannot ask them not to eat.

Let us not forget that the rewards for anybody who helps, and who is involved and acquiring bitmarks, are potentially far greater.

Absolutely - our kids are grown, we have grand-children! Our notion of rewards differ, but only because of the passage of time...

Just sent 0.2 BTC - It's all I can do as I have next to nothing that I can play with but have a firm belief in this project. I do NOT want any BTM in return. I want the Foundation to succeed and its goals to be reached.

I am looking at any possible way I can help but it will only be a contribution...

Meeting living costs and striking a balance does not = reward, it = survival, whilst hopefully building a 'reward' for all. Without meeting  fundamental needs, working toward the 'reward' is virtually impossible...

Reward = 2 weeks in Barbados 3 times a year, a new car, long term security and stability for one's family etc. etc. These all come later.

I for one could not give up my 'day-job' to pursue my speculation [full-time] for reward, as much as I would like to!

Here is a redacted private message relevant to GetMarked.

I know you aren't too concerned about country code top-level domains but I have registered:  getbitmark.co.uk.

If you ever wish to use the domain (Or you wish for me to point it anywhere) let me know.

Take Care

Thank you, you can also use it.

As getmarked progresses it may be a business for multiple people, probably people who have claimed a stake in bitmark or getmarked early. As businesses expand they need some geographical targeting and management. If it was of interest to you then you may have just registered the domain for the UK branch of a future getmarked organization.

Bitmark cannot manage it, it can create it, support it's growth through the bitmark foundation, but there will come a time when others need to focus on it exclusively.

That makes sense I think!?

Mark

Others may have an opinion on this.

If one considers the proliferation of 'TLDs' it is nigh on impossible for any organisation to cover all bases.

Look at the businesses that have grown on the back of Bitcoin and the domains that have been registered in that space.

Bitmark will thrive by having businesses grow out of, and having value, because of its value.

I think it's great! To sow the seeds and nuture a business, an idea, an organisation, that others perceive to be of sufficient 'worth' to consider (so soon) potential off-shoot businesses / services - is this not a great compliment?!

Forwards >>> ! Grin

I decided to secure getmarked.org for the Foundation but it had been registered.

Hopefully from within the community...

In the spirit of transparency, I have secured mymarks.org

mymarks.com redirects to my2014rewards.com which detects browser and prompts for 'survey' participation in relation to that browser...

So, my motivation for securing mymarks.org is partially speculative - but also driven by my thoughts that this is a good 'marks' related domain and might be useful if the getmarked.org has been secured outside of the community.

 Smiley

What do you mean by securing the domain?

Quite simply that - I have registered mymarks.org

I have not quoted, as so much has been said in the recent posts.

Spartak_t and the community have put in huge effort and commitment to FAIL

Although not quite in the Billionaires Club, my holding is quite substantial and I will not be dumping one FAIL

I did have some sell orders on Comkort for <10M in case I missed something. I had almost forgotten them. I have cancelled these.

FAIL on  Grin

Happy to see the advancements, been difficult finding time for everything

One thing about domains, they should have been registered before the project started. If not, whatever domains needed in the future [Foundation, Forum] should be registered ASAP

I regularly check domain industry forums and nowadays they have cryptonames subsections where they try to sqaut every new currency related domains.

Also they shouldn't be debated in public, better do it in somewhere private

Absolutely 100% agree with 'shouldn't be debated in public' - unfortunately, although it goes against the community ethos, it is not the community we need to worry about!

I have registered 100s, possibly over 1000, domains since the late 90's where I have seen an opportunity... and domainers will trawl every source of inspiration they can - constantly looking for trends etc.

I have PMd consolidation with another possibility.

Just one other point on domains, and I do not wish to 'teach grandmother to suck eggs' or preach to the converted, but:

When researching potential domains it is prudent to take a peek at any sites that might exist on the top TLDs. I only say this as it is often the case that 'speculative' squatting will mean that the majority of domains will just be Sedo Parked, 'This Domain May Be For Sale' notice, be a default ISP index page, or plain dead...

However, having recently had to deal with a potential 'passing off' action (completely unfounded btw) it makes sense to check that if the .net or .org is available, the .com isn't live and conducting a business of similar enough nature whereby they would have grounds for potential action...

2) Anonymity

We can discuss this more in the future

I agree.

For now it may be useful to extol the virtues of using the "coin control" features, as these let you choose which inputs (or addresses) are linked to each transaction. For most common cases, where you do not want Bob to know that you have sent money to Peter, or for anybody to know your full savings, this is sufficient, if a little technical.

For people who really want anonymity all they need to do is go off chain, on to another, and then back. This is simple to do for anybody who really wants to. For example convert DRK to BTC, move BTC to another exchange, convert BTC to DRK and send to a fresh address. Clean inputs. People have been doing this with Fiat for years to erase the trace, the same applies to block chain based currencies.

In my opinion it does not require a technical solution.

Privacy concerns however are fair to address, coin control and documentation/examples on how to use it practically, or multiple wallet support, may address this simply for the common person.

Absolutely - there is often the confusion between 'privacy' and 'anonymity' - totally different animals...

Have a great weekend all!  Grin
