121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] HyperStake | Generous Reward Staking | Advanced Staking Controls & Wallet on: August 26, 2017, 02:07:29 PM

Hello! I am new to Hyperstake!

I have a question:

What is the minimum balance I must have before I can even hope minting new coins?  I ask this because in many proof of stake coins you never stake anything if you have less than several million coins...

Thanks for any help!

It's all personal opinions.  I would say 200K divided into 10K blocks.   My guess is you would see 1-2 stakes per week.  I could be totally off.

I always kept the block size large when I didn't have many coins, So I would insure they would stake, and as I got more and more coins I would decrease the size, so more of the luck factor comes into play.

I lost all coins I had, becouse I stored them in that provided web wallet! Angry
I dont trust this coin at all looks like a scam!

Look at evidence from my web wallet!!!

  Your coins are still there.  https://bchain.info/VTC/addr/VeNYs8BAAHe28urpYXHVnvGrjtPNnZr5yV

Maybe you need to apologize to the webwallet and ask it to rescan the block chain.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: August 21, 2017, 05:31:28 PM
Even though Verge has a huge supply, it still has a relatively low market cap. You could easily see it rise 10x over the coming year.

Sure, but the project needs to stay alive for this long, I don't think an "abandoned" coin can still make huge returns apart from PnD's. I'm holding some though, we shall see.

   What???  Verge has one of the more active development groups.  Why do you think it's abandoned?  is it because you haven't seen an update in the last 30 mins?  Verge has been around almost 3 years with the same lead developer,  I don't think there are 4-5 other coins that can claim the same.

How long should it take to sync a new node? I've been running for several days and it's now slowed down to only obtaining about 2 weeks of blockchain data per day. I'm 2 years and 14 weeks behind. I have 16 active connections to the clams network.

   Look 5 post back...

Anybody knows why Cryptopia is under hyperstake wallet maintenance so long?

how long has it been for you? it isn't uncommon, i had to hit them up once to get them to re-sync their wallet so i can withdraw..

Cryptopia staff let me know that it doesn't have anything to do with HYP and that it is server maintenance. They said it should be a few days.

A few days.....  Did they use super saver shipping on the new server?  Smiley  Just kidding, but a few days sounds like a long time in crypto.

Vertcoin has history, tech level, community, very early SegWit implementation, 1-click-miner option, atomic swap implementation, electrumversion, trezorsoftware, asic resistance ...

That is a lot of improvements, but it looks like community is not much active here.
Is there any other official channel for Vertcoin devs and mods?
maybe this...

Hi guys.

I had BTC in Polo on 1st August in my lending account and I lent them to other people.

Do you think it's completely out of the question that I'll ever receive BCH for that those BTC? If yes - why?

Yes.  You lent them to someone else to use.  They get all of the benefits of the BTC including the created BCH.  You get the interest and your BTC back.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 19, 2017, 12:46:00 PM
Monero Privacy is NOT a crime or something to feel guilty about:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/6uldp2/monero_privacy_is_not_a_crime_or_something_to/

1) You are traveling through parts of a country with a medium to high violent crime rate. You need to use some of your Bitcoin to pay for something. If every person you transact with knows exactly how much money you have, this is a threat to your personal physical safety.

2) You are a business that receives a payment from a supplier. That supplier will be able to see how much money your business has, and therefore can guess at how price sensitive you are in future negotiations. They can see every single other payment you’ve ever received to that Bitcoin address, and therefore determine what other suppliers you are dealing with and how much you are paying those suppliers. They may be able to roughly determine how many customers you have and how much you charge your customers. This is commercially sensitive information that damages your negotiating position enough to cause you relative financial loss.

3) You are a private citizen paying for online goods and services. You are aware that it is common practice for companies to attempt to use ‘price discrimination’ algorithms to attempt to determine the highest prices they can offer future services to you at, and you would prefer they do not have the information advantage of knowing how much you spend and where you spend it.

4 You sell cupcakes and receive Bitcoin as payment. It turns out that someone who owned that Bitcoin before you was involved in criminal activity. Now you are worried that you have become a suspect in a criminal case, because the movement of funds to you is a matter of public record. You are also worried that certain Bitcoins that you thought you owned will be considered ‘tainted’ and that others will refuse to accept them as payment.

Monero solves these privacy issues by automatically applying privacy techniques to every single transaction made. You can have confidence that it is not possible to own ‘tainted’ Monero. This is a concept in economics known as ‘fungibility’ and is historically considered an important characteristic for any currency to have.

Regards,

   So Monero is kind of like not showing your tax returns.  Should be one big supporter in the US white house....

POSITIVE PROGRESSION STRATEGY

Here is a simple positive progression and I would love someone to help me improve it.

How it works:   (It bets high all the time. Working code is at bottom of post)

Starting bet is zero
After 4 wins in a row (betting zero)
Enter bet 1   starting bet example:  0.00001
If bet 1 loses, reset
If bet 1 wins, bet double 0.00002
If bet 2 loses, reset
If bet 2 wins, bet double 0.00004
If bet 3 loses, reset
If bet 3 wins, reset  (this hand collected 0.00008)

(Nutshell version:  It waits for 4 wins in a row and then bets the next 3 hoping for a 7 win series)

Here's where I need help.

I want to define it as a "series" each time it bets higher then zero.

I want to define those series' as  "win series" or "loss series" based on result.

I want to be able to raise the starting bet once there has been X # of loss series
and lower it after a win series.

example:

Starting bet A  0.00002
Starting bet B  0.000045
Starting bet C  0.00010
Starting bet D  0.00024

If current win series is less then 6, then use Starting Bet A
If current loss series is between 6 and 12, then use Starting Bet B
If current loss series is between 12 and 18, then use Starting Bet C
If current loss series is between 19 and 25, then use Starting Bet D

Here's the code. I'm hoping someone can help me to bring this idea to life. I'm missing some pieces in the puzzle of how to code this..  Thanks!

Code:
-- Level Up Go-For-7  by DCP @ BitcoinTalk
nextbet = 0.0
chance=51
enablesrc=true
bethigh =  true
resetonwin = false
bethigh = true

function dobet()

if win then

nextbet = previousbet*0

if (resetonwin == true) then
nextbet = previousbet*0
end

-- (this part might be redundant but I want to be sure its betting high all the time)
if lastBet.Roll > 50000 then bethigh = true
end
if lastBet.Roll < 50000 then bethigh = true
end

if currentstreak == 4  then
nextbet = 0.000001
end

if currentstreak == 5  then
nextbet = previousbet*2
end

if currentstreak == 6  then
nextbet = previousbet*2
end

if currentstreak == -7  then
resetonwin=true
end

else

nextbet = previousbet*0

if lastBet.Roll > 50000 then bethigh = true
end
if lastBet.Roll < 50000 then bethigh = true
end

end
end
(working on primedice because they allow zero bets)

   Your example is missing pieces.
What happens when a win streak is 6 or more?
What happens when a loss streak is greater then 25?
Also which bet do you want for the 12th loss?

Just for your example I would define 4 variables SBA, SBB, SBC, SBD for starting bet a - d and assign each it's value.

then
if (currentstreak > 0 and currentstreak < 6) then
   nextbet = SBA
else
   if currentstreak < -5 then
     if currentstreak < -12 then
        if currentstreak < -18 then
           if currentstreak < -25 then
              unknown more then 25 losses
           else
              nextbet = SBD
           end
        else
           nextbet = SBC
        end
     else
         nextbet = SBB
     end
   else
      unknown  current streak is between -1 and -5 or  6  or greater
   end
end
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] HyperStake | Generous Reward Staking | Advanced Staking Controls & Wallet on: August 18, 2017, 02:11:25 PM
For those of you that aren't on the slack channel, I am going to be implementing a governance system for HYP here in the near future, in fact I have begun writing the code already.

The plan is to have a staker activated voting system, that would be for most intents and purposes very similar to miner activated forks in bitcoin. So for example, I would LOVE to get rid of the X11 hashing of block headers (pointless extra resource consumption and longer sync times) and use SHA256. I plan on using the new governance system to have that fork precoded into the wallet, and only activated once something like 70% of the previous two weeks worth of stakes are signalling support (exact numbers to be determined). Once that happens, the activation would be automatic and no further updating of the wallet would be required.

I would like to have quite a few issues that we would be voting on all at once. Various forks that are ready to be activated if our stakers decide they would be good for the HYP. If the vote is no, then they would never be implemented.

This will give us as a community a solid way to work forward and progress the coin, without all the noise that can get in the way. These votes would be immutable and publicly seen on the blockchain. And of course I would add some RPC commands as well as an additional dialog in QT wallet that will allow you to select which issues you are voting for. I think it will be a pretty amazing addition to HYP.

This sounds interesting, a staking activated voting mechanism huh? So for a staker to activate support they would just need to download and sync up the new update and stake some blocks right?

Would this be a first for any stake coin?...I would love to see you get creative with hyper once your full time crypto Wink

As far as I know there aren't any staking coins that have governance systems that are based on staking. Pivx has governance, but it is the masternode voting system.

And yes, in order to vote you would just need to download the new wallet when it becomes available, select which topics you are voting yes or no on, then keep it open to stake and your votes would be inputted automatically into your staked blocks.
.

It's just possible you are reinventing / revolutionising democracy here. ....
Don't hang about, plant that acorn

Oh don't worry I have already started putting together the code for this governance system! It will even have the ability of being much more advanced than a simple boolean yes/no vote. We would also be able to vote on a range of values for a particular issue. Say we wanted to reconsider the block time, we would be able to vote on various block times instead of a simple yes/no vote.

I am honestly quite excited to start working on this even more and get it tested out on testnet.

  Just let us know when your ready for testing.  I'm all set to give it a go.  Sounds exciting.

What is the Worst Scamcoin?

If you’re involved in the cryptocurrency world for even a few minutes you’ll quickly hear the word “scamcoin” (or its rougher cousin “shitcoin”). Anytime a new coin is launched, some Reddit warrior or forum crusader will declare the coin a scamcoin, then sit back, satisfied he’s enacted Internet justice. Even after a coin has been around for a long time and proven it has staying power (*cough* Dash *cough*) brigades may still command anyone who will listen—and even to mom upstairs—to avoid this “scamcoin.” It’s almost a rite of passage in the crypto world.

But what actually is a “scamcoin?” Essentially, a scamcoin is a currency that enriches those who create or maintain it, while impoverishing those who hold it. For example, say I were to create a new coin, creatively named “Scamcoin.” I set aside one million Scamcoins for myself, then I release it to the world. I pump its value via creative marketing and false claims, making each Scamcoin worth $1. I then dump it, cashing out a cool $1 million, and end all association with Scamcoin. I, as the creator, was enriched, but the suckers who wanted to use the coin are left with a worthless token.

Oh great! Scams are ok now? Sounds like typical Dasher's hair-spitting to me.
   Since this isn't Reddit,  I guess this would be a forum crusader?

Hi guys,

My first post here, but I need a quick help to create my strategy in dicebot.

This is what the strategy looks like-

1- Start betting on LOW with CHANCE 49.5 and BASEBET 1 satoshi.
2 -When a winstreak of 4 occurs start betting on HIGH with CHANCE 49.5 and BASEBET 4 satoshi.
3 -If win then reset back to 1. Else multiply BASEBET by 2 and keep betting on HIGH until win and when win occurs reset back to 1.
4 -When a losestreak of 5 occurs start betting on LOW with CHANCE 49.5 and BASEBET 4 satoshi.
5 -If win then reset back to 1. Else multiply BASEBET by 2 and keep betting on LOW until win and when win occurs reset back to 1.

If someone can code this into a lua script, that would be great. I tried but not able to figure it out.

I tried it in primedice and it works well, but it takes a lot of time clicking and calculating which to bet next.

Thanks for your help!

   Your strategy isn't fully explained.  What do you expect to happen if you have a win streak of 4 and then a loss streak of 5.  Do you keep betting high until a win, or do you switch to low and change the base bet.
also what are you doing for the losses before you hit a win streak of 4 or loss streak of 5?  And do you really just want to bet 4 and 8 sats, IE only multiply basebet by 2.  Or do you want to multiply the previous bet by 2?

Code:
bethigh = false
chance = 49.5
basebet = .00000001
basebet2 = .00000004
nextbet = basebet

function dobet()

if win then
   bethigh = false
   nextbet = basebet
else
   nextbet = previousbet * 2
end

if currentstreak == 4 then
  bethigh = true
  nextbet = basebet2
end
if currentstreak == -5 then
   bethigh = false
   nextbet = basebet2
end

That should be pretty close.  NOTE: I didn't try this in the bot, so there could be any kind of error.  Use at your own risk.

I want the bot to bet 1 satoshi on lower than 49.5 since i have chance set as 49.5 even on a loss it will bet 1 satoshi on low. As soon as it detects that there has been 4 rolls out of which all of the rolls are above 49.5(i.e 4 streak loss) it will start betting 4x the base amount(here it will be 4 satoshi since my base amount is 1 satoshi for now) on low if the next roll is low it will give +4 satoshi profit since my base amount is 1 satoshi. If it is a loss it will bet low again but this time with 8x to cover up for the loss and so on if the streak goes on. After winning that bet it should go back to betting 1 satoshi on low. If there a 4 rolls out of which all of the rolls were below 49.5(i.e 4 streak win) the bot will start betting 4x the base amount on high expecting the next roll to be above 49.5. If it wins that bet it will return to the start betting 1 satoshi on low hoping there will be a streak of win or loss soon.

   You changed it completely.  In your first update it was 4 wins or 5 loses.  Now your saying 4 loses.  Anyway this should be close.

Code:
bethigh = false
chance = 49.5
basebet = .00000001
basebet2 = .00000004
nextbet = basebet
winlossstreak = false

function dobet()

if win then
   winlossstreak = false
   bethigh = false
   nextbet = basebet
else
   if winlossstreak then
      nextbet = previousbet * 2
   end
end

if currentstreak == 4 then
  bethigh = true
  nextbet = basebet2
  winlossstreak = true
end
if currentstreak == -5 then
   bethigh = false
   nextbet = basebet2
   winlossstreak = true
end

So, I wanted to make script that bets on 50x payout and changes side every two wins. I also wanted it to double basebet after reaching given balance.

Code:
chance=2.00
nextbet=0.00000073
bethigh= false

function dobet ()

If win then
wincount == wincount + 1
if wincount == 2 then
if bethigh = false then
bethigh = true
else
bethigh = false
end
wincount == 0
end
end

if balance > 0.001 then
nextbase = nextbase*2
end

Unfortunately I get 'LUA ERROR!! assignment statement expected, got 'win'' tho I saw many examples here with 'if win then' line and everything seemed to be ok. I must admit this is a bit frustrating. Would anyone be so kind and check it for me please?

As always...pls use code tags.
You used double equals but needed to use single ones and the other way around.
Additionally you were missing an end at the very end of your script. formatting helps finding those easy mistakes.

Code:
chance=2.00
nextbet=0.00000073
bethigh= false

function dobet ()

  If win then
    wincount = wincount + 1         -- only one '=' if you want to assign and not equate
    if wincount == 2 then
      if bethigh == false then          -- this one actually needs a double '='
bethigh = true
      else
bethigh = false
      end
      wincount = 0                         -- same as above
    end
  end

  if balance > 0.001 then
    nextbase = nextbase*2
  end
end                                             -- missing end

What B4RF said.  Also

  If win then      is not the same as
  if win then

Lua does not know what If is.  So it's expecting it to be a variable and looking for an Equal sign to follow.

IS there any benefit for long-term Verge holders?

I mean, something like stake/masternodes/harvest/fees/revenue

Can I actually gain something from keeping XVG's on my wallet?

hodling has it's own advantages/disadvantages. our shop opens up soon and will be accepting xvg.

we dont have masternodes, because it's a network weakness/centralization point. we can/may incorporate PoS one day, if we can come up with a fair system, that doesnt reward by amount in balance, but a flat reward that is fair. we'll see. right now our multi algo mining is fine though.

What about adding POS as another algo?

Also Clams does POS and the reward is 1 clam per block.  You do have a higher chance of staking a block with more coins, but the reward is fixed.  You would also have control over the minimum stake age, so folks would have to commit holding coins for x amount of time before they can stake.  <- has the feel of locking coins in a masternode, without an actual mastermode.

Hi everyone!

I'd like to make bot stop whenever given number is rolled.

I wanted to test it on range first instead of waiting for specified number, so I typed:

if lastBet.Roll < 80.00 then
stop()
end

Unfortunately it doesn't work. So please, would you help me on that? Smiley

Even better would be if it saved roll number and keep rolling, but just stopping is fine enough.

PS. This is whole code:

chance=97.83
nextbet=0.00000100
bethigh=true

function dobet()

if (lastBet.Roll > 80.00)  then
stop()
end

end

   That's pretty simple, and I would have thought it would work.    You can add a print(lastBet.Roll) and see what LUA thinks the variable is.  Could be a spelling issue.  It looks good but maybe the roll is lowercase?
print is very powerful  for debugging.

I have my wallet synced 12 days now. Deposited 2,5k Hyp, having the wallet unlocked for Pos, yet i dont get any stakes. If i go coin control/ select coins/ the age is allready 11.94 / and the Days to stake 999.00 Can i do something to fix it?

check your weight vs network weight (bottom right blinking indicator) - you'll get the point,
2.5k is next to nothing, you may wait until the Second Advent, 2.5mil is good enough

On your second point, what is the maximum stake age for maximum staking efficiency? Once your stake finds a reward, does the stake age restart?

max age limit is 30, age vs efficiency is complex and variable in time, stake age restarts

i like ur statement about the second advent.. its a common phrase in my country.. hehe. weight vs network is a tragedy.. i'll try to buy more & see..

   Personally, The smallest single block I would try would be 20-25K  I'm currently moving to 10K blocks, but I have a lot more then 1.

When I first started I kept the block size quite high to ensure they were staking.  As my holding increase I lowered the block size, so I have more blocks staking, but at a smaller size.

  I'm averaging 10 stakes a day.  And the average block size is 5K.  My oldest block is 651 days and is 1.7K  I've had other blocks less then this size stake, so it's just an unlucky block.
