U.S. government agencies are the biggest fraudsters out there - maybe they should start "investigating" themselves.

"There Might Still Be Crooked Cops from the Silk Road Investigation."

Understatement of the century.

125  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: December 14, 2015, 07:01:46 PM
What is best, antpool or P2Pool with 55TH/s?

And why?

P2pool - because it's truly decentralized. Then again, any reputable pool that doesn't SPV mine is better than antpool
126  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2900 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 14, 2015, 05:16:47 PM
And one of the better reasons for sticking with kano is that it's NOT a Chinese pool!

Weather a pool is Chinese or not is irrelevant tbh. Like Bitcoin, the internet is global & does not recognize countries or borders. What is important is weather a pool is SPV mining or not. Any SPV pool in any country should be avoided  Wink
127  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: December 14, 2015, 03:14:29 PM
Seems the SPV pools are blaming each other for their empty blocks now.......

You can see there are only four records for AntPool’s block 388238 (poor block propagation).

An SPV pool blaming another SPV pool for it's empty blocks....... Roll Eyes

Too funny  Cheesy

Was this "tremor in the force" when the changeover happened?:

Orphan rate has been rising steadily ever since - now at 25%?

Edit: 4 of my last 5 shares are orphaned also  Sad
129  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: F2Pool is directly threatening Bitcoin's future on: December 14, 2015, 09:16:48 AM
You can see there are only four records for AntPool’s block 388238 (poor block propagation). And the time difference between 388251 and 388252 is very small.

An SPV pool blaming another SPV pool for it's empty nlocks....... Roll Eyes

EDIT: What package does pypy use for twisted? I get     from twisted.internet import defer, reactor, protocol, tcp ImportError: No module named twisted

Here's what I used:

Code:
#p2pool uses twisted, and twisted uses zope.interface, and in order to install either one you need setuptools, so let's start with that:

wget https://bootstrap.pypa.io/ez_setup.py -O - | sudo pypy
sudo rm setuptools-18.3.2.zip

#Then zope.interface:

wget https://pypi.python.org/packages/source/z/zope.interface/zope.interface-4.1.3.tar.gz#md5=9ae3d24c0c7415deb249dd1a132f0f79
tar zxf zope.interface-4.1.3.tar.gz
cd zope.interface-4.1.3/
sudo pypy setup.py install
cd ..
sudo rm -r zope.interface-4.1.3*

#Then Twisted:

wget https://pypi.python.org/packages/source/T/Twisted/Twisted-15.4.0.tar.bz2
tar jxf Twisted-15.4.0.tar.bz2
cd Twisted-15.4.0
sudo pypy setup.py install
cd ..
sudo rm -r Twisted-15.4.0*

Hope you got loads of RAM, cos it sucks the living daylights out of it  Smiley
131  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: December 12, 2015, 09:45:46 PM
Well I've never really investigated the work model in p2pool and perhaps it's building on the work in its own chain somehow and not dependent on bitcoind?

That's pretty much how I understand it to work, but I'm sure there's a little more to it than that.
132  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: December 12, 2015, 09:35:39 PM

It's been a while since I've played with p2pool though and something is really bugging me that I spot in the logs. I was wondering if anyone could answer me since my python knowledge is almost non-existent. On block changes, I'm NOT seeing p2pool immediately ask for a new block template when looking at my bitcoind logs which I have extra debugging on. Take for example this last block:

The block came in here:
Code:
2015-12-12 21:11:05.242988 UpdateTip: new best

And p2pool asked for the first newblock template here:
Code:
2015-12-12 21:11:23.387677 CreateNewBlock

Note the timestamps. There are 18 seconds between the block change and the first block template request. Now on my pool software I get a new template within milliseconds of the block update.

So here's the question. Is p2pool by design not updating immediately on block changes and hashing on stale work? Am I missing something?

Above my paygrade I'm afraid - maybe forrestv can chime in here?

Edit:  Ouch - that DOA rate........
Almost 3 am, but...

What's normal/good?

Mine sits at about 3% - but it's a local private node.

Let's see what breaks next Tongue

That'll be me..... Tongue

I can see the addresses on the web UI now - good stuff -ck  Smiley

Funny to see bitmain swap the price again from USD to BTC moments before the BTC price starts dropping...... Cheesy Cheesy
137  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: December 12, 2015, 01:21:17 PM
No worries, I see my miner is still reporting the node as live so I'll just leave it as is.
138  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: December 12, 2015, 11:48:33 AM
Yes, on the standard p2pool web GUI every mining address on that node can be seen.

PS:  BLOCK!!  Smiley

139  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: December 12, 2015, 11:38:45 AM

Many thanks again -ck. With all the nastyness going on atm, it's great that a dev such as yourself is willing to step in & help out us p2poolers  Smiley

Incredibly the DE node has already found a share.

Yeah, I saw that  Smiley

I'm not seeing my payout address in the graphs for some reason:
