1201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: November 30, 2020, 09:06:22 AM
The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust is a supermassive black hole that is devouring all the institutional fiat money looking to be profitable over the long run. I should be impressed but I am not because this was inescapable. Thanks for your timely updates how can you cope with them so fast  Cool
1202  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 30, 2020, 08:59:20 AM
Somebody shook the tree at the top and the weak hands panicked and left (another version is that those who bought high in 2017 were eagerly waiting for this moment to leave as well). Now we are slowly building our way up again.

Go BTC go
1203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING SITE INVESTMENT on: November 30, 2020, 08:54:04 AM
Never forget that whatever the income this investment might generate you are always relying on a third party to hold and secure your coins. If something goes wrong (and it can be anything from theft to scam) you might end up losing everything. I will consider these kinds of investments neither safe nor profitable as the unknown is always behind the corner.
1204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: November 30, 2020, 08:46:21 AM
Yesterday, Roma went missing in Naples. Napoli outclassed the romans with 4 beautiful scores and their Argentina jersey was very fascinating, I would like to buy one of those. Great odds and a nice win on a single bet I placed on them. I wonder if they can climb the standings now and if this match can represent their bull run Smiley
1205  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-11-29] How Bitcoin Development Is Evolving – and What’s Behind It on: November 30, 2020, 08:25:04 AM
Today I want to talk about code.
I know, this newsletter is for professional investors and not developers – why aren’t we talking about price? Don’t worry, we will further down. But things are evolving with Bitcoin (BTC, +2.34%) technology that are worth keeping an eye on. While these changes have little to do with the short-term price movements, they are likely to play a significant role in bitcoin’s long-term value proposition.
Two things happened this week to make this top-of-mind: a new development funding source was announced, and progress is being made on a particularly ambitious protocol upgrade.
Before we go into more detail about why these are significant, let’s look at why Bitcoin development matters.

Source https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-protocol-development-incentives-diversity

Talking about code to investors  Shocked Stimulating article from Coindesk. Even Taproot gets a mention (data about the upgrade is a bit behind but that's ok).
1206  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-28] Yacht Sale Shows Luxury Goods May Benefit from Bitcoin Price Surge on: November 30, 2020, 08:19:35 AM
It's not just those selling luxury goods who could benefit from the Bitcoin price surge. Everybody could. Of course, the primary beneficiaries are those who own Bitcoin themselves. Now, if some of them would decide to use some of their Bitcoins to buy goods and services, then those businesses accepting Bitcoin payments would also be beneficiaries. For sure, a lot must have been happily spending a portion of their Bitcoin after the recent price rally. To a certain extent, the economy in general has actually benefited from the recent Bitcoin price surge.

Agreed, with one caveat.   I might revise that to be "almost everybody" could benefit.  In fact, I would say a vast majority of people will benefit.

The ones who would not:

1. Those who are behind or greatly benefit from the current fiat monetary system will be the losers since they don't have the ability to stealth tax bitcoin as they can with inflation and fiat.

2. Those who believe that their needs justify the seizure of someone else's means, whether they are the rulers or those who are voting for that tyrannical principle.

3. Any one who is in favor of any type of totalitarian or authoritarian system, whether it be fascist, socialist, communist or something else.

4. Those who want to control other people by controlling the products of people's lives.

Anyone who thinks Lincoln was wrong when he said:
Quote
"It is the eternal struggle between these two principles — right and wrong — throughout the world. They are the two principles that have stood face to face from the beginning of time; and will ever continue to struggle. The one is the common right of humanity, and the other the divine right of kings. It is the same principle in whatever shape it develops itself. It is the same spirit that says, "You toil and work and earn bread, and I'll eat it." No matter in what shape it comes, whether from the mouth of a king who seeks to bestride the people of his own nation and live by the fruit of their labor, or from one race of men as an apology for enslaving another race, it is the same tyrannical principle.”

Interesting. One thing deserves to be mentioned regarding those 4 categories: they will not give up easily. Years after years of perks, privileges, favors can't be dismissed without fighting. I believe they can still fight very hard to preserve their old world of crap.
Spot on about point 1, never thought of it in that sense but it makes many things so clear.
1207  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-25]Is This The Real Reason Bitcoin Has Suddenly Soared Toward Its All-T on: November 29, 2020, 08:27:46 PM
Yeah, that's true. They will do whatever it takes to stretch the narrative in order to keep monetizing on bitcoin as long as possible. The number of so-called crypto journalists is on the rise and I am not surprised at all.
They need to eat, hence they will write crap as long as they can.
I tend to skip all the price related news anyway because I know what I will find in it.

1211  Economy / Economics / Re: US Firm Launches Company-Sponsored Bitcoin Retirement Plans on: November 28, 2020, 10:53:23 AM
While I welcome the institutional adoption and acceptance of Bitcoin, I would still argue that holding Bitcoins on your own is much safer than trusting any of these institutions. Unlike the case with stocks and mutual funds, you don't need external assistance if you want to store Bitcoins. All you need is a smartphone and an internet connection. So why can't we plan our own retirement plan with Bitcoin?
If you are on this forum I do hope you are already working on your personal bitcoin retirement fund. The news signals that the average Joe working as a slave will have the opportunity to get some sort of btc exposure in the form of a retirement plan where his masters will drink up nice and juicy commissions.
So, the news it's not for us but of course will be good for us because this means fewer coins around, and if there are fewer coins around ours will go up in price. Easy.
1212  Economy / Economics / Re: this pandemic have made me do research on things i never tought before economy on: November 28, 2020, 10:47:08 AM
so yesterday i did some research was reading also some educational things.
i found something interesting:  likely if we will open all world now then the currency might be hyperinflated.
So we cant open economics full around the world if we do that the fiat currencies will be like zimbawen dollars in one month.

The solution: possible solution is highest taxes we ever seen in life.
According to all calulations analysis and mathematics the high taxes are only solution keep fiat currency alive.

i might be wrong but let me know guys.

Why do you think people and companies have started accumulating all these bitcoin? When you choose hard money over fiat currencies you are already protecting yourself from any possible hyperinflation. Bitcoin can't be produced at will and there's a max cap to the supply.
You are right on one thing I guess: after the world will get past covid-19, the hamsters will have to start running like crazy again.
The ones who will have a few coins will have some insurance against the craziness of the government, the others are bound to be slaves to the wage for the rest of their lives.
1213  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Taproot proposal on: November 28, 2020, 10:36:08 AM
It is a pathetic attempt to block a very much needed upgrade. Maybe, they can't cope with the fact that they have created and supported a fork which nobody wants to use.

It looks dead to time, the world wants the best protocol to transact with, no matter the price. Otherwise, there is always an excellent Dogecoin to be used. Much space, such cheap.

AlcoHoDL maybe the only problem with your model is that we don't know what the real value of USD would be, meaning that your model can be revised on the way up even more.

1216  Economy / Economics / Re: "Humans will not be replaced by robots very soon" --- yeah right !!! on: November 27, 2020, 08:20:55 AM
Sci-fi books and movies were only anticipations of the future as we are slowly and inevitably reaching the point of no return. With artificial intelligence and deep machine learning being developed right before our eyes what future can we expect?
Tell me the last time you ordered a book suggested by your human friend and not by Amazon?
Tell me the last time you listened to some music you heard at a concert and not those synthetics suggestions made by youtube/spotify/tidal.....
Tell me you can be 100% sure your thoughts are truly yours.

Be ready for the present. The future is unfolding at this very moment.

This song represents quite well what I am trying to say

1217  Economy / Speculation / Re: ATH will be in 2021! on: November 27, 2020, 08:05:36 AM
Don't get fooled but this small drawback: too many people bought bitcoin at the top in 2017 only to get burned afterward. Many instead decided to get some decent profit and that's inevitable.
So if you believe in the rise of the honey badger, no worries and keep accumulating at lower levels. The ATH is only postponed  Wink
1218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: November 27, 2020, 07:53:09 AM
AC Milan can live also without Ibra or, at least, that's what yesterday's match v. Lille showed. Don't forget that Lille won 3-0 at San Siro Stadium last time. I think they played well and show some solidity. If they adjust their strategy to live without Ibra for a while I believe they can continue to push hard on the throttle.
Out of curiosity did you guys know that the average age of Milan players during the 2nd half of the game was 22 yrs??? Crazy uh?  Cool
1219  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS Sending Inaccurate Letters to Thousands of Crypto Investors Claiming Taxes on: November 26, 2020, 07:45:00 AM
Pretty crazy how Coinbase incompetence is effecting so many people...

https://cryptotrader.tax/blog/cp2000-cryptocurrency-notice

this looks more like IRS incompetence to me. they know perfectly well that 1099-Ks do not show gains/losses. sending CP2000s based on gross activity is just a lazy way for them scare taxpayers either into paying more money or hiring a tax attorney to sort it out.

i feel bad for anyone receiving these letters. i wonder what the odds of an audit are if you don't amend or agree to the IRS' changes. it's gotta increase your chances. i'm just glad i've managed to stay under the 1099-K threshold. what a headache.

it's not just coinbase. kraken, gemini, and probably others send them too.
A friend of mine from the States sent me a txt about that. He is in talks with his tax consultant to see how to proceed from there.
I always told him not to use Coinbase but I guess you are right, the IRS can ask all those exchanges for data.
1220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 26, 2020, 07:41:32 AM
If it stays this low until the beginning of December I can only be happy as my DCA strategy will allow me to buy cheaper.
Always good to have strategies.
No panic
