1201  Other / Meta / Re: "Forum User's Day" on: July 28, 2020, 12:22:05 PM
This seems just like a reddit AMA aka Ask Me Anything. I don't think it would be a bad idea, though I think it should be voluntary. It would be interesting if a nominated user could set a day where they have a few hours to answer questions 'live' from any user, or maybe even better just let users post their questions in advance maybe over a week and that person could answer the ones they want at some point when they have time.
Some things to consider:
  • Criteria to nominate, choose guests for AMAs
  • Who will be in charge of AMA to manage AMAs' operations
  • The forum is not a real time messeger so there will be unnecessary and repeated questions from AMA participants (because they can not follow up AMA process)
  • Posts in AMAs should not be counted because it will give spammers chances to more easily get acceptance and ignorance for their spam- and shit-posts

Quote
Theymos isn't that active in posting especially of late and it's often difficult to get an answer from him on certain things either in public or private (though I haven't tried in a while) so maybe this sort of AMA would be a good idea for forum users to get answers to certain questions they have. I'm sure there are many things users would want to know like what's the eta on the new forum, or will new ranks ever be added etc and there were plenty of suggestions that both I and other users made in the Community generated suggestions thread and it would be interesting to know if he's thought any more about these or even changed his mind, but maybe theymos doesn't want to answer these questions as to not put a deadline on himself etc. Still, it would be nice to get updates or clarifications on some things.
From what theymos admitted at the end of the Art Contest, I don't think he has intention to spend much time on the forum to answer questions from community during AMAs. Not only if he is the chair of the AMA when he has to spend a few minutes, one hour or two hours to do so but also if he has to think of management solutions for such AMAs.

Compromises or FUDs can be born from AMAs as well as invisible pressure on him or any global moderators, ie. who will be in charge of chairs of AMAs.
I was really thrilled to see so much good art, but remind me never to do this again... It took me probably 20+ hours to sort through everything.
theymos has dedicated his time for the forum over years but not in a fixed period daily or under any kind of invisible pressure.

Nobody has to chair it, or the op of the thread could. A thread is created and anyone can ask a question in there. People can read the thread to see if there's any dupes. Whoever is nominated can either choose to answer as many as they want or all if necessary and they can answer them when they're ready. As with AMAs not all questions get answered but just ones they feel penitent and they certainly wouldn't be an obligation to do so. I think this would be better than an reddit AMA actually as questions likely won't get lost amongst the melee and instead of answering them on the fly and in a rush the person in question can take some time to think about their answers or what questions they even want to answer at all.

Shocked i made it to top 5! i was keeping an eye on the consolation prizes too, although i think i needed to score more than 20,5 points today (more than @hilariousandco) to reach first place, correct?

I'll miss seeing the BTC logo on their shirts. I wonder if it'll still be there next season in the Championship.
Sportsbet.io have a 3 year contract with Watford FC.
Source: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/watford/watford-to-bank-more-than-20m-from-new-shirt-sponsorship-deal-with-sportsbetio-a4169131.html

Depends on what sort of contract they have though. They could have a termination upon relegation clause or significantly reduce their payment. It would make sense for Sportsbet to do that as the drop off in terms of viewership and sponsorship deals between the PL and Championship is staggering.

PS. Can you PM your address for the winnings. Still a couple of users who need to do so.

Big congrats to all the winners, enjoy while you can, this time next year I will be up there with you Smiley

@hilarious
I have a tendency to miss new forum topics so please make sure to advertise here or send PMs to regulars. I am in no matter what the buy in will be, but better to keep it lower with more participants. That 25-35 pounds range you mentioned sounds quite good.

Just keep an eye on this thread or Games and Rounds as I'll post it both here and there soon once I've paid out all the winners and sorted the sponsorship deal out.

1204  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: July 28, 2020, 09:01:28 AM
I've enjoyed reading all the interviews. I don't know if zasad@ does it to everyone but he gave me the option of posting it myself. I think it would be better it users posted their own so you can merit them if you like their answers. If you wanna merit zasad@ for the questions then just toss some in the op.

It was even interesting read to go through your interview, which show's you to be an interesting person overall, more interesting than I thought.
Agreed. I always thought of Quickseller as very knowledgeable.
Just to stir the pot a bit, I missed the question: "How many forum accounts do you currently own"? Tongue

At least two  Cheesy, just like me. He's mostly abandoned that account probably because there's no money in it for him but he's happily still posting away from PrimeNumber7.

I'd be interested to see an interview with aTriz. I'm curious if he's still around with another account. Before making questions for him, I recommend reading this topic.

Well he was last active a little over month ago so he probably pops in from time to time. I think some people won't ever leave this forum no matter how many bans they get or accounts get tarnished. For some people it's just too lucrative to give up and I can't really blame them. PrimeNumber7 has risen through the ranks quite quickly but people like QS know what to do to achieve that efficiently. I'm sure aTriz would too.
1205  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Get a Price ₿oost on every sport, every day! 🤑🤑🤑 on: July 27, 2020, 07:28:01 PM
I forget about how long is the sponsorship contract of Sportbet and Watford. Since Watford will be on Championship Division next season, will we still see the Sportsbet and Bitcoin logo on Watford's Jersey?
Yes

Well, unless they've got a clause in the contract that says they can terminate the deal upon relegation, or significantly reduce payments. A lot of sponsorship deals and even players contracts have clauses like this. There's a huge drop off in terms of viewership between the PL and the Championship so that is often reflected in the various deals and deals can be lost upon relegation or payments significantly reduced. It would kinda be silly on the sponsors part not to have them really. The PL is the most watched league in the world, whereas the Championship probably doesn't get much attention in the grand scheme of things, so that's a lot of eyeballs missing and less eyeballs means less exposure for your brand.
1206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 26, 2020, 05:38:51 PM
Real shame about Watford going down. I was kinda rooting for them to stay up as it was nice seeing the BTC logo on their sleeve, but they just didn't have the quality to stay up. Ended up watching the Man U game but it was shit. Wish I'd have gone with my first choice of the Watford game as they nearly came back to grab a point but with Villa getting a point it would have been futile anyway.

I guess we will see if Im right.

basically 4/1 though. Surely that's not bad on a stack of should be won games?

Told you it wasn't worth it. Went for a draw on the Spurs game on the predictor pool but at 0-0. Didn't do great on the rest myself though  Grin. If anyone wants to join the upcoming 2020/21 Premier League Pool look out for it in Games and Rounds next week or PM me and I'll send you a reminder once it goes live.
1207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 26, 2020, 05:18:50 PM
Shit! Just one point or technically 1.5 points for me to miss the 2nd place. I was racing for 2.5 points ahead than MoSala but this was a good round for him too.

Congratulation Toke and MoSalah to kick my ass LOL

Goddammit, fifth all the way down to 8th. Yellow cap was won by DeathAngel but by only 14 points so not enough to clinch a consolation prize so at least I won something:

hilariousandco          20.5          7

examplens               19.5          24

tomahawk9              18.5          20

bigdaddy                  17.5          11

famLFC                    17            12

Shame about Watford going down. I'll miss seeing the BTC logo on their shirts. I wonder if it'll still be there next season in the Championship.

Godamn superbru:

I guess the site is lagging as everyone is on it right now trying to check their final scores. I did pretty shit from what I can tell but there was a lot of unexpected results so I might have still held on to 5th place but I'm not so sure. I was still there when I last checked shortly after full time but I'm not sure if all the games had finished and superbru had updated. It's often a bit behind. Mbit got the score right on the Man U game so he might have overtaken me. The Man U game was shit. Wish I'd had switched over at half time.
1209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 25, 2020, 06:13:46 PM
If i'm not mistaken this weekend will be the last matches for Premier league and to end this season i think i will bets for Liverpool once again because i was so tempting the odds for Liverpool @2.7 at onehash.com so probably they still have an ambition to ended this season with the victory

I’m not sure, Liverpool have completed their objective to become champion. They may have been partying too hard also, plus Klopp might rest key players & try some of the younger guys.

There might be some players who need another game to collect a medal as well. There's some minimum games played I think required to be eligible.

Well I got my first accumulator on, I think LFC will win, given the Chelsea score line.

Why even put this on for such a small return. I agree those teams should win and I would back most of them if I had to, but look at what's to play for. Liverpool have already won the league and they're playing away. Spurs are also playing away and I wouldn't really trust them to win comfortably right now. Chelsea are playing Wolves who are trying to hold onto their Europa spot. Man City should stuff Norwich but maybe they might field an alternative team to give some other players a game. Even so they'll still likely thrash them but maybe Norwich will want to give a good performance for their fans for their final performance in the Premier League.  Too risky for not enough return for me.
1210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 25, 2020, 10:41:00 AM
Wow, 0.1 from sponsor looks nice. Personally, I'll join, no matter what signup fee you will pick - £25, £50 or 0.005 BTC, difference isn't big anyway. And it would be nice to get at least 30 players. It would make pot really solid and pool would be very competetive. I see that some people stopped playing during the season, but maybe we can get some new faces to the pool. Big pot would bring more interest.

I'm sure we can get at least 30. Most players will probably return and a few will naturally drop out, but there's over two months to recruit new sign-ups. Maybe the sponsor will push the pool a bit as well I dunno.

Also playing next season, whether buy-in is 10$ od 100$. I'd prefer an option with more players, it's better fun when there's 30 people instead of 10.

I liked it this season, was good for a while but had a really bad patch mid-season, finishing 5 rounds in a row in the bottom 10 or so. Looking forward to improve on that Smiley

I think 40-50 users would be ideal. 40 players at 0.005 is 0.2 plus the 0.1 sponsorship so that would be nice. I don't think it would be great if there were too many players as that would obviously decrease your chances of winning but if the pool did get much bigger I suppose I could pay for the top ten spots. 5-10 would probably only be essentially smaller consolation prizes though. I'd like to bump up the highest round consolation prizes if I can as well though for a little more incentive to keep playing your best.

Not really sure if I will participate on the next one, depends on the buy in. If it remains the same then I'll participate.

Well it will likely be between £25-£37.50 with the latter being 0.005 currently. Ideally I'd like to try keep it at 0.0005 as it's nice figure and makes it less complicated to split the prizes nicely.
1211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 24, 2020, 07:55:40 PM

We already had that conversations before this pool and I also remember something like there was maybe 10 us willing to pay 50 and 25-30 of us willing to pay 25 pounds. When you take all the numbers in account it usually works better with smaller amounts.

If there is few of wanting to bet more we can always make a side pool. Best position among us takes whole side pool reward. Very simple and works well regardless of how many interested participants there is. If nothing like that gets organized I am always for a side bet with somebody.

But wasn't the discussion between £25 vs £100 last time. I don't really want to have numerous pools running for one comp so would prefer to just find a middle ground which I think £37 or whatever 0.005 is at the time is fair enough. First year it was £25, then last year I think it was closer to £30 (27 maybe). £37 is only an extra tenner and shouldn't be an issue for most I think but I don't really want to go the full £50 either, though it is a nice number in cash but the prizes will be denominated in btc so I'd prefer that to be the nice round figure hence trying to go for the 0.005. It's still really cheap for what it is. Far bigger sponsorship this year as well and I think there should be more interest in the pool this season and probably will grow from year to year as more people find out about it and want to get on board.
1212  Other / Meta / Re: owner of bitcointalk? on: July 24, 2020, 03:45:35 PM
is there an owner of this place? does it only get paid from advertiing?  do they take donation?  must cost a lot to run and would want to send some support to help forum run but see no how to do it message.  they should put a donate and help link on this webpage.

Theymos technically is in charge. You can donate though: https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html

Or buy a Copper Membership from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote

Most of the revenue is from the paid advert auctions but theymos has previously said donations are not necessary.

If you have something to advertise you can bid on forum adverts here if you wish: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5262483.0

But I'd just keep your money or give it to charity if you want to help out.
1213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 24, 2020, 03:44:03 PM
I’ve had a paid finishing position every pool we’ve done, pretty sure I was even top at around Xmas this season but I’ve been awful ever since. I will obviously be taking part next season (which is announced today as starting 12th September).

Suppose we might have to start paying to enter soon, hilarious?

Nah, not yet. Last season I didn't start collecting funds until a week or two before the start of the season, but I may do it earlier this time. It depends on how much interest we get. I'll see how many users apply and what price bitcoin is at and if we get a lot of interest pretty swiftly I might start taking in funds asap.

I'd be happy with anything up to £50 Smiley
Let's do it!
Only 20 players is going to give us a pool of £1000 (0.1340BTC) with 0.1BTC from the sponsor. It's already looking exciting.

I'd personally be ok with £50 but I know a few existing users wouldn't be so I'd like to keep it reasonable as to not price people out just for the sake of a little extra. 0.005 is a really nice number though and I'm sure £37 isn't going to break the bank for most. I'd like to keep it at a nice round number in bitcoin so we'll just see what the price is like when I start collecting it, but it will be between £25-40 most likely. People have to remember it's an entire season of fun and entertainment so it's good value and there is some pretty big prizes if we can collect over 0.2. I'll try up the consolation prizes a little as well so there's more to play for on that front.

I posted them in the thread somewhere shortly after the pool started but they're not coming up in search.
Next time may be considering a new thread will be better instead of continuing on this one?

I'd prefer to keep this thread as the more views and posts it gets the better it looks to potential advertisers in the future. Maybe one day we could get a big jackpot put in. Imagine a whole bitcoin or something. I'll just keep the op updated straight away next time along with the thread in Games and Rounds which is where I'll announce the next one after Sunday.
1214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 24, 2020, 02:25:53 PM
Consolation prizes are still up for grabs for everyone so don't give up.
I like how you keep pitching this Consolation 😜

Well I think some people have forgotten about them and feel like they have nothing left to play for so you can at least try claw your entry fee back.

By the way, looking at the current fund we have for the pool, which spot is getting how much prize?

I think these are them:

0.04 1st
0.03 2nd
0.02 3rd
0.01 4th
0.005 5th

Consolation prizes:

0.005 1st
0.0025 2nd
0.0025 3rd
0.0025 4th
0.0025 5th

I posted them in the thread somewhere shortly after the pool started but they're not coming up in search.
1215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 24, 2020, 01:32:38 PM
Good luck! I'll be very happy to at least match the amount sponsored for the season, and maybe a bit more because I did pretty well betting-wise too, happy to put it all back here, if I don't lose it in Champs League haha!

Always appreciate the offer but Hhampuz managed to hook us up with a tasty 0.1 for the pot from Roobet so thanks to him for that. Hopefully we can get the pot to at least 0.2 with user contributions. As long as we get 30 sign-ups it should be doable. Currently 30 players are in this seasons pool but a handful will naturally drop out but I know there was a few people who wanted to join the pool after it started and with the pot being boosted with 0.1 that might attract a bit more interest. I'll announce the new pool after I've paid out the winners next week so we can maximise the sign ups before the new season apparently starts on 12th September. It'll probably be around £25-30 again. I'd like to raise the price a bit ideally but I don't know how many people would drop out because of it. £37.5 is currently 0.005 which is a nice number to have and we'd only need 20 users for another 0.1. 0.004 is currently £30 but 0.005 is a nice round number. I'll see what the price of bitcoin is at when I announce the thread and take into consideration what price users are ok with.

@hilarious
@tokeweed

I haven’t done too well in my pool debut season but it’s something to do & I hope to do much better next season. Count me in, I’m definitely up for renewal.

Consolation prizes are still up for grabs for everyone so don't give up.
1216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 24, 2020, 01:08:47 PM
It is such a sad situation that Liverpool will not be breaking the 100 point record, they were basically going to break that and then some but with the return they lost too much to make that happen. Even if they end up winning the last game, that will be 99 points and not even, if they could have at least tied with one of the loss teams, or just simply beat Watford like they were supposed to, they would have broken the record.

They only have theirselves to blame. They could have won a lot of other silverware this year but threw them away pointlessly by fielding weak teams full of kids. I can't help but think they could have achieved so much more this season including beating the points record.

For CL I think it is Chelsea and Man United. Leicester isn't consistent, it can score but I doubt ManU will let them win, a tie in the other hand is probable.

According to the picture above, if we looked at the current performance of MU, I am pretty sure that they will keep their position to qualify in CL. They have been consistent in the last five matches, they are undefeated.

They're hardly consistent. They drew their last game at home with shitty West Ham and lost to Chelsea 3-1 in the FA Cup. Playing Leicester away isn't going to be easy and they will probably have more drive for success as the underdog. It's the game to watch either way. Anything could happen but I may go with a score draw.
1217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 23, 2020, 06:06:57 PM
I don't think it's just Leicester - Manchester United that will be an interesting match at the end of the season in the race for the CL place, because there are still teams underneath like the Chelsea - Wolves match. Chelsea will fight to secure its position but the opposing team will not just give up, because Wolves will also maintain its position to remain in the EL qualification zone because at least Tottenham poses a serious threat to Wolves. Cheesy

Well there's that game but also the relegation battles which is arguably a bigger deal. Arsenal don't really have anything to play for whereas Watford are fighting for survival and it's an uphill battle away to the Gunners. West Ham are also safe but are playing Villa who aren't and really need a point or ideally three. Bournemouth could technically stay up with a win if Watford and Villa lose and they can get a better goal difference so there's a lot of iffs and butts. I'll probably watch the Leicester/Man U game and maybe the Watford one if I can split screen it decently.
1218  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: July 23, 2020, 05:13:17 PM
Would like to read an interview with a bounty hunter, that cheats in campaigns Cheesy Interested to hear why exactly he had chosen a way of a cheater (greed is on a first place, but there must be more reasons).

Such interview will destroy a myth that cheating in campaigns in 2020 can bring good money (so that people will drop an idea of cheating), or it will confirm that this is still profitable (this will stimulate forums growths, as  rumors that forum is dying started to appear).
I do not think there is really good money in bounty hunting especially in ICO. Many of the countries are prohibiting the community to invest in ICO because there are countless number of scam on it. So how could a bounty earn? They get paid tokens but that will become worthless or a shit token probably. I do not see reputable user now bringing a project and probably they afraid in now that they too get tag as scammer for promoting a scam projects. Other tha  that moat of them are now very careful in promoting project but there are few teams that aren't as long as they could earn on their managed project.

Well perhaps it would be greed if they have have a car but want five more, of have enough food to eat but want a feast. For some it's not greed but necessity, and some others probably just want to earn financial freedom. Would you rather be unemployed or 'work' on bitcointalk to earn money. For some the money isn't a lot and to others it is vast. Also, the reason why some people 'cheat' campaigns and multi-account is because it's not that profitable unless you do. $50 a month isn't much to most, but if you times that by ten accounts then that's $500 which isn't a bad amount, and certainly not for a developing country.

I received your questions, but they don't make much sense for my history here.  Are you aware of my history on this forum?

What did he ask you? Not the questions in the OP? That's why I suggested having maybe 15 standard questions that everyone gets asked like all the ones in the OP minus the fourth one and then maybe 5 personalised question which you can choose to answer or not if appropriate. Asking a base set of questions at least gives you everyone's perspective on things and I think there's a lot of good questions there.
1219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 23, 2020, 05:04:33 PM

we're gonna have high-stakes football matches next weekend and a thrilling final round in our pool...couldn't ask for more  Smiley

Well maybe not for toke. He could probably forget to do his picks and still come out number one. Maybe someone will get a high score though to grab a consolation prize so get studying the fixtures as you still have something to play for.

Awful Manchester United is now leaking wounds as they lost few more points and hopes for next years Champions League entry now Chelsea and Leicester both have good chance for qualifying in pool today we have no one with draw or West ham win what a shocker result for all of us.

But United is third rn...  Had to rub my eyes and look again.  Lol.  How did that happen?  Cheesy

It's LCFC and Chelsea fighting for the last CL slot.

Edit:  Well it's close.  United has to win their last match to secure a CL slot...  And damn it's vs LCFC.

If Chelsea lose and Leicester win then the latter will end up in third place. Is there an extra CL place because Liverpool get automatic entry for winning last year or did they get that this year? The break has me confused.

Oh and I'm happy to renew sponsorship, if you guys still like this pool next season (of course we do, right?)!

I'm talking to a couple of sites trying to get as much as I can to bolster the pot, but if they fall through you can certainly have it again.
1220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 23, 2020, 12:49:12 PM
Chelsea will get into the top 4 & qualify for the CL.

Well, not if they lose. I don't think they will but don't discount Wolves. If they lose then they'll likely lose their Europa league play off spot as well. If they win they could get the automatic spot depending if Leicester lose.

The really exciting match though is Leicester vs Man Utd, that’ll definitely be the game on my TV this weekend, can Leicester do it?

Yeah. I was gonna watch Watford/Arsenal match to see if Watford can grab something from that in order to stay up, but I'll probably watch Man U and Leicester battle it out for the Champions League instead. Could probably split screen the action though.
