1221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS] 1 Crysis 3 + Bioshock Infinite AMD Redeem code for Feathercoin! on: April 19, 2013, 12:28:21 AM
To get the ball rolling a bit on Feathercoin (well, mostly just for fun) I am auctioning off a free copy of Crysis 3 bundled with a Bioshock Infinite steam coupon.

Starting bid is 100 FC, increments are 50 (or more) FC. I am open to escrow, otherwise you will go first, unless you are a very trusted member Smiley

I was trying to sell mine as well, but if you haven't played Infinite, I recommend keeping it Wink

Oh, I kept one for myself Tongue Loving Bioshock so far, Crysis 3 is alright, but I'm no good at it. :/
Hehe, I am a Crysis 2 veteran, played it for two years before Crysis 3 came out, purchased it, unfortunately Crytek made the same mistakes...bugs bugs and bugs. However, that still doesn't prevent me to pwn people.

This is my first Crysis game, and I'm one of the newbs you are mowing down Tongue

For people with issues getting tons of orphaned blocks, just forward port 9336 to your computer running the client.

Here's a brief explanation as to why this works:
Orphaned blocks are caused by you mining a block, when someone beat you to it. Bummer!
The faster you can get the new blocks, the less likely you are to be trying to mine a block that has already been mined, right?!? Well, if you don't port forward, you will get around 16 max connections. If you port forward, you can see upwards of 50 or 100 connections. The more people you are connected to, the faster you will receive blocks, as the more routes a block has to get to you. Imagine a hermit who only talks to his mother, and she only talks to the postman. The postman talks to everyone. By the time news gets from Jeremy to the postman to the recluse's mother to the recluse, it's old news. But if the hermit talked to the postman directly, he would get news much quicker.

Sorry, I'm tired. Hope that makes sense, I'm off. Night! Smiley

What port?

locate appdata/roaming/featerhcoin..

create feathercoin.conf

Add this info
server=1
daemon=1
rpcuser=miner
rpcpassword=SetSomeRandomPassword
rpcport=8100
port=8101

If you are going to mine with more miners on your network you need to add rpcallowip=*.*.*.*

If you got a Radeon 7970 you can use this cgminer command:
cgminer --scrypt -u miner -p SetSomeRandomPassword -o 127.0.0.1:8100 --worksize 256 -g 2 -I 13 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1400 --shaders 2048

I did that and 99.9% of my stuff is rejected. is that normal?

I think it might have something to do with so many blocks being mined so quickly (I've mined 8 blocks in four minutes (well, four and a half)), that it is finding blocks that are rejected as other blocks already propagated over the network, invalidating the work done by your GPUs. Not for sure though Smiley

Also, mine shows 8 transactions and 8 blocks in cgminer, but no "transactions" under the transactions tab. I guess I must just wait Tongue

Gonna throw 1.5MH/s for a bit, why not?
1230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin FPGA Production - Serious Inquiry on: April 16, 2013, 12:50:59 PM
I would certainly be interested in pre-ordering. Here's a bit of math (very simple) for people to chew on:

A GPU rig can be built, if you know what you are doing, and have it in a out-of-box setup with cheap CPU, mobo, etc, for around $1 per kH/s. For example, a 1.5-1.6kH/s system could be easily built for $1550 or so. The major advantage that FPGA units have over GPUs is not outright price ($1 per MH/s in Bitcoin mining for GPUs, BFL's 800MH/s unit cost around $700 if I remember correctly) but power consumption, often by close to an order of magnitude. As well, they are generally quieter, and their modular design allows for you to run many of them in a small area from one host computer. Some of the usual worries about GPUs such as heat dissipation are not as big of an issue with FPGAs.

After I got off on a tangent, I feel a fair price would be somewhere around $1/kH (per second, of course), as it would be competitive price-wise against GPUs while showing some major advantages, especially for people with expensive electricity, or without a room where they can put very noisy machines.

Cheers, best of luck with this project!
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [TUTORIAL] Solo Mining Litecoins Guide--Windows! on: April 16, 2013, 03:47:32 AM
This was pretty easy to setup when other guides have been very confusing. Thank you so much. Now, I have a hardware question. Do you think I could upgrade my graphics cards from my sony Vaio laptop? Is it possible and even worth it? Just wondering because I want to get more serious.

Most laptops (I can't think of a single one that doesn't) don't have upgrade able GPUs, and if they did, it would not be worth it as it would be integrated. Sad

Now, I know that for solo mining bitcoins it basically isn't worth it without ASIC, but what about with litecoins? How many KHash/s should I have to effectively solo mine?

I would suggest around 10,000 kH/s to solomine effectively, although many people with 30+ mH/s still pool mine. :\

1233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: litecoinpool.org not let withdraw money on: April 16, 2013, 12:16:53 AM
I had a few delays with litecoinpool.org last night, but they were quickly resolved. Everything is working as normal.

I've had the best experience with this pool so far.

+1, litecoinpool.org is the best litecoin pool for my three main pool criteria:
-Uptime
-Reliability
-Ease of use

GPU: 2X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026 - $620

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151108 - $121
Plastic milk box: $10
2x Risers off ebay: $7
Any old HDD you can find, can get one for $10-15 on ebay

Total: $960-965

I doubt anyone is retarded to make a dedicated 2x 7950 miner in an actual pc case. It is not worth it.

This sounds more like a resonably price.
I built 2 rigs with 2x7950 each last month for a total of less than 1400 € and they are hashing with over 2.2MH/s
And why this gigantic PSU? Just use a 630W for 45€ and 4 gig RAM. And there are ASRock mainboards with
2 PCIe 16x slots for less than 60€. I really don't get the pricing here

All this sounds like a rip off to me. Sorry

Curious.... was that supposed to say 1.2MH/s? If you are getting 2.2MH/s, could you let me know your over clocking stats and miner configuration? I'm building my rig with two 7950's tonight, but I didn't think I was going to do more than 1.3 or 1.4 at best and probably more like 1.2 average.

I think he built two rigs, each with 2x7950, for $1850 or so Smiley

Lowered testing period to three days.
1239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Idea] Buy blocks of time for mining? on: April 14, 2013, 05:46:51 PM
if the buyer can pay with BTC, why don't you mine it yourself instead Huh
If the buyer makes more BTC than he pays, you are getting ripped off, if it is the other way around, he is getting ripped off. Tongue

Am I right?   Cheesy

It's all about the party providing the hash power wanting consistent earnings while miners take on risk. For example, say Terracoin is 160% profit and OP charges 130% PPS for his shares, he makes more than he would Bitcoin mining, your bitcoins earn more terracoins than bitcoin>terracoin conversion. Alternate currencies really act as the lifeblood of this project. Smiley

ITT: autism

I wouldn't buy a machine that only supported 2 slots and could not be upgraded by adding more stuff.

Vorsholk has done a pretty awesome job. The penny pinchers will kick themselves when they have to buy another machine to add components.

Right, the device is geared towards people who want to set down a unit, unscrew two screws, and have something work, people who want to be upgrading and expanding systems would not be interested in this product.

Edit: re-read what you had written, I think I may have misinterpreted it. With the old setup people would still have some ventilation issues with the higher quality hardware. Sad I'm looking into the hardware to make 3x7950s work fine in a regular case, but it's not too promising. :\
