1241  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex Google 2Factor Authentication no backup key on: July 20, 2017, 10:19:19 PM

Bitfinex.com doesn't seem to give a backup/recovery key in case your Google2Factor Authenticator phone is lost or breaks down. The Authenticator app on Android doesn't have any sort of backup functionality.
On your Google's account you seem to be able to enable 2 factor authentication but that is for google authentication it seems. I.e I can't see how to backup the keys on the phone.

When you first set up GA for Bitfinex you were shown a secret key for GA to write down that would allow you to restore GA to a new phone if needed. They probably should really insist that you write that secret key down. Without that key you are in for a spot of bother if you lose the phone.

OP sorry you are having trouble. I don't actively use Electrum-LTC your best bet for help may be the irc channel.
1243  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help! Electrum saying unsupported seed version on: July 20, 2017, 08:24:46 PM
Sounds like before you upgraded you should have opened the old version of Electrum-LTC and had it display the seed (wallet > seed) and write it down.
1244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The OFFICIAL SegWit2x Lock-in Thread on: July 20, 2017, 08:04:42 PM
Realize that most of the miners signaling BIP91 are not actually running the btc1 client, just a patched version of Core. For the SegWit2X 3 month hard fork to occur a majority of miners would actually have to follow through and switch from Core to btc1. To complicate matters Bitmain has been announcing they will fork Bitcoin to Bitcoin ABC on Aug 2. They say they will not proceed if UASF does not activate, but we will have to see. They may just go ahead with the fork regardless. If you own the private keys to your bitcoin now you will also own the same amount of Bitcoin ABC if the fork occurs.
1245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin split on 1th august or no? on: July 20, 2017, 07:53:27 PM
Don't panic and just have some patience we will only know it on first august but you have to keep in mind that segwit2x is just a soft fork and not a hardfork so it will not split the network itself. Only few miner may continue mining new bitcoin clone using old bitcoin blockchain after segwit activation.

SegWit2X is this.

Stage 1 -- lock in (currently in progress).
Stage 2 -- activation.
Stage 3 -- hard fork.

I must however point out that the actual hard fork will happen roughly 3 months after activation, so from that point of view, we shouldn't cheer to soon. Step 1 and 2 are the easiest and least risky steps. After that we'll likely face another period of fud and uncertainties. I just want this scaling obstacle to finally get wiped off the table, but as long as the hard fork hasn't kicked in, things are not yet over. On the other hand, the volatility that these uncertainties bring are quite profitable, so I have to nurse myself with the opportunities being offered to me.

For newcomers SegWit2X activation does not necessarily mean a hard fork 3 months later. Most of the miners signaling BIP91 are just running a patched version of core, not the btc1 client. We would need a majority of miners to actually switch over to btc1 for the later hard fork to occur.
1246  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Am I vulnerable to a hack if I forgot to upgrade my wallet? on: July 20, 2017, 06:51:34 PM
Earlier versions were safe. Your release is not that old.

This is turning out to be very strange, because I'm sure I was not awake when this transaction took place. Is there anyway of identifying the site it was sent to by looking at the address?

The only free wallet explorer to the public is walletexporer.com. You can see the address there but nothing to identify it. Also the bitcoin has already moved.

1248  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 20, 2017, 06:05:17 PM
Most people don't realize that if SegWit had gotten approved a few years ago, it would have essentially been a non-event and the market would have responded with a whimper

How would that have happened? Not only was there no segwit release a few years ago, there wasn't even any serious discussion of it.

You know what change would have avoided this entire clusterfuck? A simple increase in max block size. Any time up to the point where the 1MB limit started getting hit routinely.

If it was not SegWit or max block size those who want to seize power from Core would have found some other issue to bitch about and rally around.

1250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x support growing day by day, WHY FORK FUD and PANIC on: July 20, 2017, 05:21:28 PM
@crazyivan, it is entirely possible that Bitmain may fork off to Bitcoin ABC regardless of BIP91 lock in. They have said they will not, but they may break that promise. Just because they can.

Bitmain guys might change their mind. Earlier, no one thought that the BIP 91 could be locked in so soon. But that is going to happen, and along with it a lot of people are going to change their stance.

Well yes I hope that Bitcoin ABC does not happen. Bitmain seems to use ViaBTC for an experimental test bed and Via is pushing Bitcoin ABC cloud mining on presale July 22.

Bitcoin.com was signaling for BIP91 then stopped. Also, Gemini has made a statement that they may support BCC while Coinbase (GDAX) will not.
1253  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Should I fully drain out my BTC from Coinbase for Aug/1? on: July 19, 2017, 05:47:58 PM
Reddit is reporting that Coinbase sent out a letter today that they will not support the Bitcoin ABC hard fork that Bitmain seems to be going through with on Aug 1. If you own x bitcoin on the current chain you will also own x bitcoin on the Bitcoin ABC chain. The only way you will have access to those ABC coins is to use a local wallet which will support the ABC chain, and move your Coinbase coins to that wallet ASAP. Both Trezor and Ledger will provide support for a hard fork chain and do the splitting for you. Electrum would probably be more complicated as this past post shows. Since Nano S is sold out best advice is to get a Trezor and pay extra for express shipping before they run out of stock.
1254  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Should I fully drain out my BTC from Coinbase for Aug/1? on: July 19, 2017, 02:40:40 PM
I entered in world of blockchain a month ago, my holder is coinbase?
Will it hold both splits of BTC or should I go for personal ledger?

To be safe you should have the private keys to your bitcoin on your own computer. For one thing, Coinbase may be down for a few days. And if there are multiple forks do you want to be the one to choose which one to follow or leave the decision to Coinbase? The most secure solution would be to buy a Trezor and pay extra to have it delivered in a few days. If Trezor is not an option for you Electrum is very good. Other hardware wallets like Nano S are out of stock.
1255  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nights Watch by Afrikoin on: July 18, 2017, 11:31:32 PM
We have already had a double bottom at $1830 - $1850. Price on Bitstamp did not quite reach the weekly 20 MA so there is the slight possibility of another crash to the 20 MA but with SegWit2X looking to activate I think that would be an edge event. What interests me is if Bitmain goes ahead and releases Bitcoin ABC on Aug 1 even though they said they will not if SegWit2X locks in. That fork would cause turmoil and another buying opportunity as two chains compete.
1256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Game Theory of Segwit2x and BIP148 UASF on: July 18, 2017, 11:18:38 PM
Great article thanks for taking the time! I send it to my friends who are kind of overwhelmed and need a good synopsis. I know Bitmain supports SegWit2X; was among the first pools to signal BIP91. If SegWit2X locks in before July 29 UASF 148 should not orphan blocks and Bitmain's Bitcoin ABC should not activate. That is my understanding anyway. Bitmain seems to be eager to hardfork even if SegWit locks in; ViaBTC is even going to start pre-selling hashing power on the BCC chain in a few days. What do you think are the odds Bitmain goes ahead with a Bitcoin ABC fork regardless?
1257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x support growing day by day, WHY FORK FUD and PANIC on: July 18, 2017, 07:24:28 PM
I told everyone to buy when price got close to weekly 20 MA hope a few listened to me and are in profit now:)

Everything is going smoothly with assembly. There are some tasks that have taken more time than I would like… for example of the 5,000 holograms I ordered, only 1 in 10 have the square window centered inside the circle. It’s enough to complete these, but took almost a full day to inspect each. http://imgur.com/oIOJ2bE I do have someone helping me with some of the smaller tasks to help get these shipped sooner… even just unwrapping the 400 housings, 400 clips and 800 circular retaining rings from their factory packaging was a full day with help.

The NWA5000 samples have been loaded into around 1/2 of the bars, and I’m still cutting the rest. It’s a very slow process and is something I’ve spent the better part of the last week or two working on – I plan to take some photos of this process to share soon. I have gone through a dozen diamond coated saw blades already.

My goal is for shipping to begin this Friday, so I will post a new update by then.

P.S. I have also been shipping out signature series (bars/prints) orders, which I fell a little behind on – so if you’re waiting on these, know that you will be receiving them any day now.
