No the eventual total is still 18 million in a LONG time (many, many years off). In the short term the mining reward over time is being cut in half both prospectively and retrospectively.

One can never be absolutely certain sure there won't be a clever shortcut found but it seems plausible this may remain a CPU coin for a very long time.
An ASIC built especially to speed up random access to memory has a better chance to work here than current GPUs. GPUs may get bigger caches over time, but then you can't be sure that CPUs won't also speed up access to their L3 cache, get more cores, and start to look more like GPUs anyway (and GPUs are being built into CPUs).
It is possible this may stay mineable by regular common computers (whatever those are) indefinitely.

Please change my For Sale to 2000 BMR for 0.8 BTC. Thanks.
Sold to eizh. Always a pleasure to deal with. Well, there goes half my value with the protocol change. Maybe, maybe not. Remember, the total supply is being cut in half as well.

|
|
What status of BMR currently holding?
No change. This is just a rename/rebrand/reannounce, since the first one was a bit sloppy

|
|
same problem
somtimes it works, sometimes not
Has not worked at all for me in the past 1-2 weeks or so (roughly since heartbleed, whenever that was)

Bitmain - we have had a great relationship for the past few months. Sadly, it looks like it's ending. You are no longer competitive given the S2's fragility and high price. There are better options that are built more solidly and don't cost as much. But I'll keep watching. Hopefully you come to market with a product as great as the S1's were for their time.
+1 +1000 You are going to loose a lot of customers if you keep this up. +100 BTC...just kidding...second this though... SP10 is $3000 + shipping...for 1.4T... A1 Clones...Dragon...and siblings...1TH... are @2300 + shipping... Far away from $3,199...IMHO... Where do you see an SP10 that ships this month for $3000? Call them ...e-mail them...ask them...SP-Tech...research...and you will find... RoadStress could help too... EDIT...: MAY delivery... May delivery is 8000 for two units. 7200 if you can get a 10% discount as a previous ASIC buyer. The 3000 group buy price is only if the group buy gets above 700 units. It's not even at 300 yet, but it could still happen.

Last time I checked (and this may have changed), ZeroCash depends on a trusted party to generate a master key, which is utterly stupid and defeats the entire purpose of an anonymous currency.
They were talking about a method where the secret gets generated in a distributed manner. I don't know if that got implemented.
|
|
|
Rollout in batches now. What happened to the shipping from in stock or in hand model? This is basically a shortened pre-order model which causes inflated demand with everyone trying to get in line to make the batch cut.
Don't worry, that won't happen at this price. Batch 3 would actually cost me more in BTC than Batch 2 did. Not happening.

cocoakrispies, I did a Google search based on your quote, and found this thread on Cryptonote forum. In which Maurice Planck, a cryptographer of Cryptonote team already admitted that Zerocash is more advanced technology: https://forum.cryptonote.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18This is the most advanced technology, I must admit. Yes, the quote above is from the analysis of the previous version of the protocol. To my knowledge, it's not 288, but 384 bytes, but anyway this is good news. ...yes, it's using cryptographic techniques whose security is uncertain and whose obscurity is completely intentional. "Advanced" doesn't necessary mean "secure" or "fool proof" and if you watch the presentation Green gave he instructs the audience now to put too much money or faith into the initial implementation of the system. I'm excited for ZeroCash, but in my own opinion I believe ByteCoin/forks are better suited for things like decentralized marketplaces and real-world applications. There is a widely repeated maxim not to use any cryptography developed in the past 10 years for anything important. That being the case, ZC won't be ready for prime time until 2024.

Simply forking BMR is problematic.
Renaming i.e. rebranding is a much easier sell than forking. Technically its a fork of the code, but only because there are a very few places where the name is used in the code (I think it may only be the build script for the executable name, but I'm not positive of that). And a new thread for it. The actual block chain would not be forked. Yeah, I think that's very much viable. The only end result is some renamed executables. That and a web site and a new forum thread.

It's time to dump the 80% ninja premine If your objection is the 80% ninja premine (cool imagery), then just head on over to BMR. It already has half the hash rate of BCN in less than a week.

WTS 200000 BCN (0.19 uBTC/BCN) = 0.038 BTC
Please PM
If you don't mind please post on my trading thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=579781.0While there is nothing wrong with this thread, the OP doesn't really have time to maintain the spreadsheet, so it tends to get pretty badly out of date.

You can PM me the information about the altcoins you want to buy and I will possibly structure a deal where I buy the coins now, and you can buy them from me at a predetermined fixed price once your deposit clears. This amounts to using the coins as collateral for a loan.

Would like to find out about joining your pool and investing bitcoin to increase available investment pool
No thank you

Hi, If you lend me 0.2 btc for month how much do you want in return? BR, Gondel

but minergate asking for 10% ?? 10% Just solo mine. Maybe you don't get coins every single day, but so what. Give it a few days and you'll get very likely get block for yourself (~120K), no 10%

I'm not really that strongly in favor of renaming it. I agree with you that not everyone speaks English and monero isn't bad globally. But I do think the marketing of BMR from launch onward has been atrocious. No web site is inexcusable (I consider no GUI to be excusable because its actually somewhat hard to create a GUI but it is trivial to create a web site -- this is just a pure screwup), and now someone has domain squatted the bitmonero domain names. Those should have been registered before releasing the name, yet another bungle in the launch of this coin. So I think this coin need a complete marketing revamp, and rebranding is a good way to do that. Do not rename BMR, Bitmonero is much better than another "xxxcoin", "monero" is somewhat similar to "coin" in many languages and for sure it's less awkward to pronounce - remember, not everybody speaks English.
As for improvements GUI wallet is a must, but also better ANN posts are needed - current ANNs ignore the fact that 99% of readers have no idea about BCN (which makes me think they were written by CryptoNote guys). Logo, website + some basic services, including places where you can actually spend your coins, should be created as well.
PS And if you want fair distribution, look at CounterParty and Proof of Burn - basically a honest version of IPO.
