1301  Economy / Speculation / Re: wow, bitcoin's astro birth chart is full on! on: February 11, 2014, 09:40:25 PM
Hehe, this is epic.

right??? this and then astrology in general caught my interest after a prognostication coincided with the pirate@40 default

and I believe I've become a better person for it Smiley THANK YOU OTOH

though i do not base trading off it, I learned much more about myself

so fun  Cheesy

Are you making this stuff up on the spot? Wink

see: Capricorn's daily for today

Monthly outlook
Now you're through your birthday month you'll be settling down to the proper business of the year ahead, knocking your finances into shape. You'll be spending happily as well but since your ambitious and determined push to stay on top of your situation will be paying dividends you'll deserve the odd treat. One friendship may hit a sticky, rather chilly patch so try not to get too critical or negative. Wait till you're clearer about the reasons for the tensions before making any firm decisions. Your dynamic approach will waken everyone up but there are those who may not appreciate being bossed around so tone down your demands if you can. In the final days your feet will hardly hit the deck since you'll be running fast. Some confusion is likely with Neptune around so double check all messages and try to be clear in what you say.

Risto, you still think btc will be at $300k in the future??

And also are you bullish or bearish now?

Hm.. I am starting to feel the fear in me. But it is OK, I have coins in an exchange and I sell them. Then I have fiat and feel good Smiley

(It is better to sell while the price is high)

Everybody do according to their own emotions.

This is what I mean by it feeling bottomy. I never felt like selling in any dips, but I do recall being nervous about what was happening when it was ~$2. Right now is the first time in ages that I have been having those similar feelings.

I am taking this as a personal indication that it's time to buy. It's terrifying buying into all this negative sentiment, but I figure that's where the best opportunities lie.

High price for a cheery consensus and all that.

I'm sure we'll look back at this thread when it hits 5 figures the same way we look back at all those single digit threads now.

i mean you won't be upset in a few months.
all of this is just the inherent ADD that's typical of the internet

Despite all the hacking attacks, FUD, negative articles etc., Bitcoin is anti-fragile.
1304  Economy / Speculation / Re: HUGE PLUMMET TOMORROW! on: February 11, 2014, 04:34:08 PM
It seems that the mutated transactions attack is intensifying, and is not limited to MtGox, but spread to the whole network.
May I ask how could someone know in advance that the price is going to drop so sharply (on BTC-E at least), and because of this attack?
If this attack continues / worsens, then maybe the OP knows who is perpetrating it, or even he may be involved.

You might want to back up those claims with some arguments or proof you know. I can't believe you people take the OP seriously... I guess this is how all the crazy conspiracy theories get out into the world.

http://www.coindesk.com/gavin-andresen-jeff-garzik-mt-gox-wrong-bitcoin-isnt-broken/

Bitcoin core developers Jeff Garzik and Gavin Andresen have responded to Mt. Gox’s claims that there is a flaw in the Bitcoin software.

Mt. Gox issued a statement this morning (GMT), revealing it had suspended bitcoin withdrawals indefinitely due to a previously known technical issue with its custom wallet implementation of the Bitcoin core protocol.

Garzik stressed that Mt. Gox seems to be attempting to shift the blame for its recent failings onto Bitcoin and its developers.

“First and foremost, bitcoin is not broken. There is no fundamental flaw in bitcoin,” said Garzik.

1305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was the GOX FUD day bullish or bearish? on: February 11, 2014, 02:38:39 PM
honestly with bitcoin, the historically easiest and smartest trade to do is just trade your dollars for BTC when ready and 'sit in' like you say
that takes some amount of knowledge to realize

it's not really luck, it's just resolve if they know why they're sitting

edit: in which case, I point to the historical 3-12% USD inflation rate per year and

mat was on my ignore list last year but i took him off a few weeks ago because i kept seeing his ignored messages everywhere and it was too bothersome to have so many bumps in my reading. what to do what to do  Huh
1307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Bet: Bitcoin will hit $600 (non-gox price) by 3-22-14 on: February 11, 2014, 04:36:54 AM
lol, OP bets 2 bitcoins, goes on bitstamp and sells 1 bitcoin for $599. Wins bet. lol this bet.

Newbie in 'not knowing how market works' shocker!  Shocked

please explain how if OP lists his bitcoin for sale for $599 on bitstamp and someone buys it, that bitstamp wouldn't show $599 as a sale price.

my exchange doesn't let me cut through the orderbook for any specific order. If the price is 900 and I set an ask at 600, it'd get sold at $900
1308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 11, 2014, 04:22:01 AM
Gox just continues to diverge from the other exchanges... ridiculous.
market's never wrong, opinions are  :p
1309  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 11, 2014, 04:15:13 AM
Is it correct to say that Gox is responsible for the first, second and fourth big crash of Bitcoin?

1312  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC Utilty "The Hooker Point" on: February 11, 2014, 12:52:43 AM
If you are looking at trends, within the last month or two the number of hookers accepting bitcoin on MyRedBook.com went from 2 to 32.
The biggest growth was in Las Vegas and seems to have occurred around the time of the Bitcoin conference there.

I see you NL...  Grin

Gox does have some uncanny ability of staying alive
1315  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: February 11, 2014, 12:13:42 AM
Mtgox isn't/wasn't going to die without something outlandish and major happening. And maybe this is it. I almost feel like Mtgox needs to default at least a little, to really bury the hatchet. I don't want people to lose their money and I don't want Bitcoin's reputation to suffer. But whatever it takes to remove this amatuer and disfunctional company from our existence - its really worth it. Just like silk road was a burden removed, I believe the removal of Mtgox is likewise a burden that when removed will help us all.

Silk Road is alive and well and more booming than ever. I have just recently received 5g of top quality MDMA from a reputable vendor on the site.

The Ross Ulbricht bust was massive advertisement for Silk Road and darknet cryptocurrency black market websites in general.

'A burden removed indeed'

Money laundering and black market has been the early lifeblood of Bitcoin whether you like it or not. It has been the spine upon which the rampant speculation was all based.

what are you, in portugal?

The news sounds very to the point in trader terms. It almost sounds as if it is from somebody at this forum.

Giancarlo is typically very to the point

" Billionaire Mark Cuban has a currency trade idea for 2014 -Long Bitcoin and Short Gold."
molecular has held the idea consistently since 2011 (although he did short XBT and buy alpaca sock - and has refused to sell)
I'm sure molecular will hold in 2014 too.
