In the mouse utopia experiment, with increasing population resulted in less care being given from parent to offspring, resulting in more violent behavior and overall less intelligence (in the conventional sense). It wasn't a lack of resources that led to their undoing, but themselves.

The universe itself is the best thing because without it, nothing mentioned in that poll could exist lol Smiley
How would you know?

Because by definition the universe contains all the stuff mentioned above, so its a really good thing that we have it.

Could you imagine if something Else, not in this universe, possibly could make exist all the things above?

Any suggested places to withdraw to?
Withdrawing is more a state of mind than an aspect of geography.

Bingo.

"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."

Why should I stay somewhere where I can summarily be rounded up for suddenly breaking some new unconstitutional law passed (see Snowden donations)? What if that place is imminently changing expatriation laws to make it near impossible to shed citizenship? Then withdrawing would be throwing away what our founders built akin to the Niemoller "First they came..." lesson, and the only moral thing to do staying is being some sort of beacon for liberty.

“If success or failure of this planet and of human beings depended on how I am and what I do... HOW WOULD I BE? WHAT WOULD I DO?”

This is unacceptable. Poloniex shouldn't get away with it and I'm surprised it's happened, as I too have been awarded my XMR after sending without Payment ID. If this happens to users, posting here would maybe give devs/community members the chance to put pressure on Poloniex.

I lost a few hundred by sending to someone else's account address on poloniex without a payment ID, once.  Support staff did not help.  I found this quite annoying, and lost a lot of respect for the operation as a result.  I still keep some funds there and trade them a bit, however.  How is the liquidity on bittrex these days?

But you can't send "to someone else's account address on poloniex" without Payment ID, since we all have the same address there and that is 47sghzufGhJJDQEbScMCwVBimTuq6L5JiRixD8VeGbpjCTA12noXmi4ZyBZLc99e66NtnKff34fHsGR oyZk3ES1s1V4QVcB

I don't know what happened but the money still shouldn't have been lost if communications were competent and it was determined that a payment ID was missing. Either the coins should've been sent to aminorex's account because he owned the payment ID or he should've sent the payment ID to his friend to send to support so they could identify the correct account to credit the coins to.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but am I seriously seeing someone attempting to say we should try and get unclaimed coins back from poloniex! Is that a joke!

No you are just being trolled by BCX/primer-

They've credited XMR sent without payment ID manually a lot of times. Many such cases were reported in this and other Monero threads, but you need to have the relevant information about the transaction.

The discussion is about unclaimed XMR, do we let them keep it or do we ask for an audit, make them keep an updated unclaimed amount public + introduce a new policy that allows them to redirect the funds to development group the community chooses (does not have to be the official dev team).

It's a (mostly) perfectly fungible cryptocurrency, we can't force them to do anything. If they choose, of their own accord, to donate the funds that is their prerogative, but we would not ask or insist that of them. More importantly, dealing with this matter with hostility will leave them disinclined to be of assistance. If this matter is important to you then I would suggest you send Poloniex an email and discuss it with them directly.

People like you never get things done. You passive problem solving got us where we are, development-wise. I'm out, find someone else to chase your donations.

Thank god.  Hopefully that also means  you will stop posting here.  No one wants to read your nonsense.

I think primer- is BCX. Maybe has more accounts too.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoins for Edward Snowden. on: April 03, 2015, 06:53:13 AM
Well mocking the US government with alternative methods to sponsor Snowden are just going to provoke a negative backlash.

They have the power to over regulate Bitcoin or to ban it completely and we are giving them the incentive to do it, by doing this.

I can see why people want to do this and I also support transparency and privacy, but this might have bad consequences for Bitcoin.

It's a typical Win-Lose situation.  Sad

Sorry but they already legitimized (regulated) Bitcoin thinking because they can track it, it wouldn't be a problem. The cat is out of the bag, and Bitcoin was the Trojan horse.

Am I on a list now?  Tongue

Curious, does Obama passing this new crazy Gestapo law have any affect on Monero?  Wink
These types of laws are just going to increase use cases for Monero, etc. and increase BTC mixing sites.

Donating to Snowden is now illegal and the U.S. Government can take all your stuff. - Thanks Obama.

Quote
"Sec. 2. I hereby determine that the making of donations of the type of articles specified in section 203(b)(2) of IEEPA (50 U.S.C. 1702(b)(2)) by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to section 1 of this order would seriously impair my ability to deal with the national emergency declared in this order, and I hereby prohibit such donations as provided by section 1 of this order.

Sec. 3. The prohibitions in section 1 of this order include but are not limited to:

(a) the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; and

(b) the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person."

Sec. 7. For those persons whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order who might have a constitutional presence in the United States, I find that because of the ability to transfer funds or other assets instantaneously, prior notice to such persons of measures to be taken pursuant to this order would render those measures ineffectual. I therefore determine that for these measures to be effective in addressing the national emergency declared in this order, there need be no prior notice of a listing or determination made pursuant to section 1 of this order." ... aka, they can take all your stuff without due process instantly if you have "constitutional rights" in the US (wow).

The rabbit hole is deep people. This is almost as bad as the patriot act... a national emergency LOL what a joke. I pray that non of you donated to Snowden using Coinbase or any other bitcoin platform that keeps your identity on file

Where this is likely going is Coinbase declaring coins from pools that don't play ball to be "high risk" or alternately declaring all coins of unknown origin to be "high risk". High risk means they won't process transactions involving those coins (will require you to send them back or possibly just seize them) or will close your account if you try to do so.

IIRC Greg Maxwell himself mentioned that Coinbase closed his account.  I think I recall him mentioning it on this thread, or at least this forum.  I don't believe that they appropriated his BTC, but there would be very little to stop them if they were instructed to do by the regulators for whatever reason.

The most plausible reason for Coinbase to do take this action is that Maxwell's coins were mixed, probably with coinjoin which he mostly authored I think.  Certainly the guy has every reason to hodl a boat-load of BTC which he obtained through completely honest means.

I doubt that Coinbase is under any more obligation to tell anyone why they his account than Wells Fargo was when they canceled my bank account.  That is to say, none.  They told me straight up that they had no intention of telling me in writing why my account was canceled, though they did verbally tell me that it was due to my activities with Coinbase.  Coinbase was utterly un-interested in the details which surprised me slightly since they were implicated by name and one would think that such an action if it became a trend could impact their business.

Upshot:  Your projections of the possible future are somewhat off in terms of timing.  The future was already here.  There is room for things to become significantly worse, though, and they probably will.

I can see a situation fairly soon (if not now) where services like Coinbase, etc. will only deal in coins that are something of a closed loop between themselves, Bitpay, and a few others, meaning those services will be available only to customers for whom that is their entire use case for Bitcoin. The rest who trade coins outside "the system" will find themselves in a new version of unbanked.

This is not satoshi's Bitcoin any more.

I suspect that a participant in the Bitcoin ecosystem who is willing to lift the rose-colored classes on occasion and generally keep his eye on the ball will be rewarded for doing so.  At least if they have something non-trivial on the line.  As Gavin guides us gently closer to the alligator's mouth there will be times when it makes sense to take certain evasive actions.

1.) one service taking monero directly (a psychiatrist in NY afaik) and ristos castle (?)
2.) xmr.to which converts xmr into btc
3.) some minor but fine services

4) our first run-away scam.

That has to be worth something on the "making it" scale.

5) coffee and coffee accessories!

Now is the time to buy, considering that rumor says the webwallet is out in 2 weeks..
troll asci art clipped

Your point?
price now is the first time that the price is higher than the price at the time the post recommended a buy? Maybe think for yourselves?

Webwallet was released on 25 november 2014 IIRC, price soared from 0.00136 to 0.00172 but tanked shortly after that. So I think that argument could be debunked, since we overtook that atleast one more time after that.

Considering a saying commonly known amongst traders, "Buy on rumor, sell on news," one should take the recommendation, "Now is the time to buy," at face value as a recommendation to start buying on October 12.

That LordSonjai would take too significant the recommendation is a reflection upon those who follow. It's not like it's a bad call, in the grand scheme of things.
